I arrived in Austin, TX on 10/18/18 with no plans until the following day and thought a tour was a good idea. However all the traditional tours appeared to be booked. I stumbled upon the Austin Brewery Tours' website while searching on Yelp for ideas. I had an awesome time exploring Austin's growing beer scene. I also had a great time meeting and making friends the other tourists on our tour. I enjoyed all of the 3 breweries but the behind the scene tour at Independence Brewing Co. made it my favorite. Apparently it's become a tradition that we do a brewery tour when we travel. One of the breweries I was told I MUST visit, while in Austin, was Jester King. Searched online for brewery tours that included this and finally decided on Austin Brewery Tours. Almost daily tours, online booking was so easy, and we got a reminder, a couple of days earlier to our tour, via email. Tour starts at noon. Meetup time was 11:30am. At around 11:25am the van was there. Out comes Shane, owner and tour guide. He immediately introduced himself, thanked us for being on time and proceeded to ask us our names and where we were from. Once the other people taking the tour arrived, we were all introduced and in the van we went. During the time we were driving, he would ask us questions to get to know us better, and see the style of beers we liked. He also gave us an intro of each of the breweries we would visit. He made the time driving pass by fast and welcomed all questions we could have. At each of the breweries, he explained the process and what we had included in the price of the tour. At Jester King, they even had a special release and he bought a sample of each (which was not included in the price but he gifted us with it) making sure we had the complete experience. You can tell he enjoys doing these tours and meeting the people. He even took us to Revolution - which was in front of one of the breweries we visited - to try locally made flavored gin. So greateful he allowed us to do this quick stop - this was delicious, and gave me the opportunity to talk more with one of the ladies on the tour, exchanging ideas on recipes with the gin we had just tried. Shane is grate at incorporating everyone in the tour and conversations. He allows you plenty of time to enjoy each brewery and every beer you choose. He is now friends with the staff at each of these breweries, which works on the advantage of everyone in the tour since we got excellent/ friendly service at each stop. Best part of this all, is you meet new people, get to enjoy all the beer you can drink, and don't have to drive. Great way to spend a day in Austin. Of all the awesome people we met and food we ate, our guide Shane as well as the guys at the Lotus Joint food truck were freakin awesome! SXSW had Austin jammed with a lot to do but Shane made sure we got to see Austin and its beer community like the locals do. He was insanely knowledgeable not just about beer but also about Texas. When you've solo traveled the world like he has, you gain a perspective that makes you far more relatable too which made him an all around cool guy to hangout with. Most important.. We had a great time on our tour. Our guide James was very informative and friendly. No one In our group lived in Austin so it was good to get some info about the city and neighborhoods. The 3 breweries we stopped at were all unique from each other in size, atmosphere, and beers. At each stop you choose two beers to try which is great. We've been on other tours where you do not pick. October 2018. 5 out of 5. We decided to take a brewery tour while we visited Austin. This ended up being a great decision. The tour is structured well. We did three stops which gave us a good opportunity to try three different breweries without having to worry about driving, parking, or any of the attendant Logistics. The tour covers all expenses including tips which is a nice touch. You can tell that the tour is well organized and that the breweries appreciate the business. That means you end up getting much better service at all of the breweries than you sometimes get with such packages. The tour guide also is able to make excellent suggestions so if you don't have a lot of experience with craft beer this is a great way to learn. If you have any interest in a brewery tour while in Austin I highly recommend this tour. read more

I was in Austin for meetings but had some free time prior. I like to visit breweries (who doesn't?) and saw this tour. I was so pleased with the entire tour: Shane is an amazing host who took us around, shared lots of information about the area, along with the breweries. He was very friendly and ensured we had a good time. Even though it was about 1000 degrees outside, he kept the van cool and ensured we were cared for. We had opportunities to not only sample excellent beers, but also visit several food trucks in the area. His rapport with the brewery owners gave us extra attention and really made us feel special. Brooke was a wonderful tour guide, and she made good beer recommendations (especially considering that I'm not much of a beer drinker). We did the Hill Country Tour and visited Jester King, Last Stand, and Skull Mechanix. Each tour had a tasting option (one where we all tasted beers as a group and the others where we each got to pick our own beers to try). After selecting beer to taste, we got to explore each brewery on our own before moving onto the next location. We had enough time to eat (plan on eating at Jester King. The food is awesome and we spent the most time there) and to drink at every place, while still getting to individually wander and see all that these breweries had to offer. This was a super fun beer tour for those who like breweries. Shane, the owner was very knowledgeable about the three places we stopped and knew his beer styles well. My girlfriend and I had an absolutely amazing time on this tour. Shane (the owner/operator) picked us up at the place we were staying right when he said he would. He is a longtime Austinite who has a lot of knowledge about the city itself as well as the booming craft beer scene. He took us and two other people to three great breweries all of which gave generous tasting pours. We started at Pinthouse Pizza (Lamar) which had an almost overwhelming number of chooses on tap, then moved on to the charming Hops & Grain for more delicious beer samples.
