The super comfy van
Jason K.

My wife and I had a great time with Jeff and the other couple on our tour. We got to visit Celis, Lazerus, and Zilker Brewing, which were all very good with a wide variety of beers, tasty food options, and great spaces to enjoy everything. Jeff drove well, the van was very comfortable, we got some pretzels and water, and had a blast! Definitely a great way to sample some great Austin brews.

This was our first time doing a brewery tour, also our first time trying craft beer. As someone who has never experienced anything like this, I would 10/10 recommend this tour! Jeff was great at teaching us the history, picking out the beers for us to taste, and being an amazing guide! Either you've done something similar to this before, or if you haven't like us.. I highly suggest doing this tour!

Learning about the brewing process at Family Business.

I took City Brew Tours Austin's first tour, and I couldn't have been more pleased. Jeff, also the owner, was our guide, and he was excellent. He picked us up right in front of The Fairmont Austin, and was easy to spot. He regaled us with beer history, and made sure we all got to know each other on the way to the first stop. At all the breweries there was an included flight in the ticket price, and we had the option and time to purchase additional to-go beer if we wanted. Jeff also chose the beer, which threw me off at first, but he totally got me outside of my comfort zone and I tried new styles I wouldn't have chosen myself. We also had a meal (dinner in this case!) and a beer pairing that went with it. Pairing a Gose with chips and salsa: Brilliant! At all the places we went to, Jeff showed us behind the scenes how the beer was made and put together, it was very cool to see such a range in equipment across local breweries. The value of not driving and being able to see 4 breweries during my short stay was well worth it! Always love my time in Austin, thanks CBT ATX!

Kenneth was a great tour guide, giving us information about each of the breweries we went to. He also sat with us at each location and it was cool getting to know him. He gave us plenty of notice about when we were leaving and made sure everyone was accounted for before moving on to the next location. Would definitely recommend!

Apparently it's become a tradition that we do a brewery tour when we travel…read more One of the breweries I was told I MUST visit, while in Austin, was Jester King. Searched online for brewery tours that included this and finally decided on Austin Brewery Tours. Almost daily tours, online booking was so easy, and we got a reminder, a couple of days earlier to our tour, via email. Tour starts at noon. Meetup time was 11:30am. At around 11:25am the van was there. Out comes Shane, owner and tour guide. He immediately introduced himself, thanked us for being on time and proceeded to ask us our names and where we were from. Once the other people taking the tour arrived, we were all introduced and in the van we went. During the time we were driving, he would ask us questions to get to know us better, and see the style of beers we liked. He also gave us an intro of each of the breweries we would visit. He made the time driving pass by fast and welcomed all questions we could have. At each of the breweries, he explained the process and what we had included in the price of the tour. At Jester King, they even had a special release and he bought a sample of each (which was not included in the price but he gifted us with it) making sure we had the complete experience. You can tell he enjoys doing these tours and meeting the people. He even took us to Revolution - which was in front of one of the breweries we visited - to try locally made flavored gin. So greateful he allowed us to do this quick stop - this was delicious, and gave me the opportunity to talk more with one of the ladies on the tour, exchanging ideas on recipes with the gin we had just tried. Shane is grate at incorporating everyone in the tour and conversations. He allows you plenty of time to enjoy each brewery and every beer you choose. He is now friends with the staff at each of these breweries, which works on the advantage of everyone in the tour since we got excellent/ friendly service at each stop. Best part of this all, is you meet new people, get to enjoy all the beer you can drink, and don't have to drive. Great way to spend a day in Austin. If looking for a beer tour, look no further, this is it!

We have learned that taking the VIP bus is more our speed. We can have a drink on the bus and the group is usually pretty cool. They are so organized. We arrive at the pickup spot, check in, have a drink and it's all done seamlessly. Hannah was a great bus host. She's spot on keeping us informed where we are and what to do when we arrive. She goes over rules and policies related to being on the river and trespassing rules. They always do a great job and I'll be doing it again next year.

It was even better than I imagined. I'm no huge "Elf" fan, but after several Palomas, Buddy's schtick was about the funniest thing I had ever seen. I also looooooooooved the dancing up on deck. We lucked out and had a lovely Austin afternoon on the water. The music was a solid mix of 90s throwback dance tunes, and the whole atmosphere was silly and lighthearted and happy. The food was very good, too -- pizza from Via 313, bfast tacos and a candy buffet. We ended our cruise with a special surprise from Buddy -- Santa had gifted us all with jewelry from Kendra Scott! I don't know how often that happens, but I love random surprises. And the retail price of those gifts was more than what we paid for our brunch experience. Score! What a memorable day! I can't wait for the next one.

The Quintessential Texas Hill Country Day Out!…read more If you're looking for the perfect blend of Texas hospitality, smoky BBQ, and scenic vineyard views, look no further than the Austin Detours Hill Country BBQ & Wine Shuttle. I recently took this tour in February, and it was the highlight of my weekend (as I'm a local). Whether you are a local hosting out-of-towners or looking for a professional team-building outing, Austin Detours provides a seamless, stress-free way to experience the best of Central Texas. 5/5 recommend! Our day started at the Austin Visitor Center where we met our driver, Luke, who was fantastic throughout the trip. We hopped into a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter van for a smooth 40-minute drive out to the hills. One of the best parts of these tours is the people you meet. Our group included travelers from Ontario and Brazil, and it was wonderful swapping stories about their first impressions of Texas while we cruised toward our first stop. We started strong at this legendary BBQ spot - The Salt Lick. After placing our orders for some of that famous fall-off-the-bone brisket, we took a quick walk over to Salt Lick Cellars to grab some wine. Pro tip: Salt Lick is BYO, so being able to grab a bottle right there to pair with the BBQ is a game changer. Next up was Driftwood Estate Winery which was pure relaxation. We grabbed a bottle, found a spot under a massive oak tree, and just took in the incredible Hill Country views. Our new international friends joined us after their tasting, and the conversation was just as good as the wine. Our final stop at Fall Creek Vineyards was originally meant for a formal tasting, but the interior was buzzing and a bit loud. Since the Texas weather was doing us a massive favor -- sunny and nearly 80°F in February! -- the group opted to buy a few bottles and head outside to the fire pit. It was the perfect way to wind down. The drive back to the Austin Visitor Center flew by. We were all chatting, sharing snacks, and enjoying a final beverage in the van. A few things to keep in mind: The $69 price is for the expert guide and transport. You'll want to budget about $35 for BBQ and $10-$25+ for wine tastings/bottles. The Vibe was incredibly flexible. Whether you want to do a formal tasting or just split a bottle by a firepit with new friends, the pace is up to you.
