We've done a lot of escape rooms over the years, and Escape Hour is hands-down the absolute best. We've completed The Crypt, Call of the Ancient, Baker Street Mystery, The Cabin: Chapter 1, and Hijacked: The Holiday Express -- and every single room was incredible. The detail, immersion, puzzles, and storytelling are on another level. The Crypt was our favorite -- the atmosphere was amazing and the puzzles were so well designed. We also loved the storyline of The Cabin, but fair warning: it is very scary! What really stood out was how accommodating they were. Since we had previously done Cabin Chapter 2 with actors, we asked to tone it down this time and remove the actors -- and they were awesome about customizing the experience so it was still immersive but comfortable for us. That flexibility made such a difference. Huge shoutout to our game masters Kai, Paige, and Alexis -- they made every experience so much fun and kept the energy high. And Lia was fantastic with bookings and explaining the Cabin storyline. You can tell this team truly cares about creating an unforgettable experience. Where do I even start? If you want to do an exhilarating Escape Room, this is the place to do it! They take escape rooms to the next level. However, I can only speak for Cabin Part 1. I was worried that this escape room would be too scary for me, which it DEFINITELY was, but at least I was proud of myself for participating in it. I learned a lot about myself, including how I would react in situations when I'm just scared to death. It's not great, but hey, at least I know. Our game host, Miranda, was amazing. Everyone who we've interacted stayed in character and it just made the experience that much more fun and engaging. I highly recommend for you to experience it yourself. You can also ask them to "tone down" the scary rooms if you are worried. The Cabin Rooms are a combo of escape room puzzles with a twist of haunted house theme. I went in as a group of 4 and I that was a good size since some rooms could be small. Fun but may not be for everyone. I am interested in trying out their other escape rooms, too. read more

Tucked away into a inconspicuous parking lot lies a fun and engaging experience courtesy of Escape Hour. The staff is extremely helpful though and walk you through everything you need to know ahead of time and feel genuinely excited to be a part of things. Upon checking in you are required to lock all items into a locker, this is done to eliminate the ability of people filming the room itself. Upon entering the room (we played Dead Man's Cove) you are greeted by a deliberately and carefully thought through set. The design of the room is incredible and the activities you participate in are fun and challenging, although not too difficult. The most difficult portion of it all was the lack of light since we weren't able to carry our phones on us. Since there are no spoilers in this review, I'll leave it at this: Escape Hour is nothing short of a fun and exciting experience highlighted by workers who care and a well built out environment. This is definitely something anyone local should try at some point. We have played a few escape rooms ahead of this one and it is a far better experience than our previous ones and provides a good challenge without feeling too convoluted in its design. read more

A couple of the interactions were not user friendly, but we eventually figured it out after some trial and error and escaped in 50min with no hints. The story was pretty cute too! It felt like it was tuned pretty well for a 6 person group. You could probably even get by with a group of two if you do a lot of escape rooms. There was some crawling but the ground was padded. There were no jump scares, just spooky vibes. The area is really nice and the venue itself was pretty empty rather than crowded (probably because we were the first slot on a weekday). Just finished this escape room on Halloween, and wow -- it was terrifying in the best way possible! They actually got some genuine jumps and screams out of me. For my first time doing an escape room, it was way harder than I expected but super interactive and fun from start to finish. Our team of 6 was fortunate to play Lab Rats on its last day as the second-to-last group :( . Our game master, Levi, was awesome! He gave us plenty of helpful hints without us even needing to ask, which kept the game moving smoothly. This was my 38th escape room and everyone in our group had done at least 10 rooms, but it was our first time at Escape Hour. Without giving away spoilers (in case Lab Rats ever returns), I thought dividing the team into three different rooms at the start was a unique and creative twist. The puzzles weren't super complicated, but that didn't take away from the creativity and uniqueness of the challenges. It was a refreshing and enjoyable experience that required teamwork and some out-of-the-box thinking. The cost was $48.71 per person, which is a bit pricey for a 1-hour room, but the quality of the experience made it worthwhile. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to try more rooms at Escape Hour Austin! read more

My partner and I played Call of the Ancient with our 5 month old son, we absolutely loved the room. The puzzles went with the theme, not too easy or too difficult, great use of tech in the room and the staff were all amazing. I did knock off a star because we called before we booked and asked if the 2 rooms we were looking at would be suitable to do while having a baby strapped on our chest. We were told this room wouldn't be a problem, unfortunately there are some tight spaces and more specifically small crawl spaces that should be done with 2 people at the same time but since I had the baby my partner had to crawl in and out of the 2 spaces to complete the puzzles. I would NOT recommend this room with a baby in a carrier and we were a little frustrated that it was recommended. However, if you are baby free and can crawl I would definitely recommend this room. read more

My best friend and I visited Escape Hour to tackle the uber-spooky "The Cabin" room. Without hyperbole, I can say it's easily the best escape room I've ever done. Multiple rooms, challenging but not too opaque puzzles, and a big shoutout to Leia, who curated our entire experience with grace (even though we arrived a little late). It's important to note that The Cabin is very, very interactive and genuinely scary. Think more "Haunted House" than escape room and you're on the right track. The scare actors can absolutely touch you, so be prepared! My friend and I barely managed to finish this one in under an hour, you're much better off running with a group of 3-4. If you have the fright tolerance, I highly, highly recommend The Cabin!! It was truly a phenomenal experience! read more

Took our 10-year-old grandchild to the pirate escape room and I'm not sure who had the most fun! From the moment we walked in the door, Miranda was a terrific game master, inviting us into the experience. Everything worked exactly the way it was supposed to do. It was my second escape room experience ever, and honestly my first one had me sure I just wasn't an escape room guy -- but my experience at Escape Hour Austin actually has me sold I like them! I liked how the puzzles were structured enough to keep you from going too far off track, but the room had enough details to keep you curious and puzzling. The aesthetics were also really great. Ok we had to write this review after experiencing this place. We've done 8 escape rooms now and this place BY FAR is the absolute best. We did the crypt and the way this room was designed was awesome. The overall look was very detailed and all of the different puzzles seemed to flow into another one never leaving you feeling stuck with no clue what to do next. Our game master was Michael and he played his character very well making the whole experience so much cooler and having you feel fully immersed in the room and scenario. This was great space to do an escape room! My friends and I were visiting from out of town and found this spot north of downtown. There was plenty of parking, which is always nice, and the staff was super friendly! We did the Christmas Unremembered pop up escape room. This is a medium tech escape room, with a good number of non-linear puzzles. The decor is super cute and nice and immersive and the story was definitely sweet rather than, uh, Sid and Toy Story horror (which we assumed based on the website). There were a number of issues with the tech itself, which was frustrating. (Clicking a button that should unlock a drawer, but with no physical or audio feedback. The TV screen changed with something solved, but also no audio cue so we didn't know to look. The biggest reveal was...perhaps simply broken?) Maybe it's because we were at the tail end of this game so they didn't bother fixing it all up to work as flawlessly as it once did? We didn't have a chance to try their other rooms. Edit: They reached out to me to add sounds/cues and assured me this was true in their permanent rooms, and to ask for more details that I didn't want to add because spoilers. I appreciate so much that they took the feedback and want to make their rooms perfect! Next time I'm in the area I'll convince some local friends to go with me to a permanent room and see how different the experience is. :D read more

Joined my friend's crew last minute and escaped the Lab Rats room. It allows up to 15 as you split into 3 different rooms and work together. Having 3-4 ppl per room seemed to work well. We thought the puzzles were fun though the audio and rules were a little difficult to hear at times (probably since there were so many of us)! You get a cute pin at the end for escaping! You have to wear a mask in the lobby but once in the room you are free to remove them. I appreciated the hand sanitizer in the rooms :) Hope to return and try some others! read more

Great time at this escape room with my friends. There were 4 of us. Pros: - Great decor - Loved the different layers/rooms and that you had to climb/crawl/use objects to achieve your goal - Very creative ways to use different parts of the room - Liked the storytelling Cons: - Some of the riddles aren't very logical or clear (for example, if it says to unplug something, it doesn't actually mean unplug something from the wall) we wasted quite a bit of time deciding if we should or shouldn't pull a plug - Delayed reactions (when we would do something that was supposed unlock something else, it didn't work. When we did it again with the host, it worked. Makes me think it's triggered by the host or needs a little bit of tweaking) I would definitely recommend doing an escape room here. Such a fantastic experience! Booking was a breeze, and signing wavers online was not difficult at all. Finding the building was a bit confusing at night, but we just looked at it as the first of many challenges that night, haha! The staff was so friendly, and the well stocked and clean bathroom made for a great start! We did "The Call of the Ancient" which we thought was so much fun! It was interactive, and had elements we found both impressive and challenging. When we thought we were getting close, we were just beginning! We didn't escape in time, but it was so fun we would definitely retry the room again! Be sure you work together and take any disagreements between your group with a grain of salt. We went just to have some fun to celebrate a friend's birthday. We did the Cabin 1 experience. For many of us it was our first experience with an escape room at all. However, all of us had a blast. Those among us who had been to other escape rooms before said that this was hands down the best experience they had ever had with an escape room. Leia (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) did an amazing job with a very creative role play and pageantry.
