We had an amazing time at The Escape Game in Austin! TLDR: Highly recommend - You should play!! Staff were fantastic!! Toby was a very friendly and genuine game guide that made us feel great about our accomplishments and CJ was an awesome and generous host that got us hyped and left us feeling elated. I was visiting from The Bay Area, California for my birthday, and we decided to play The Heist. There were 5 of us, and 4 had played escape rooms before (not at this company). The room design was awesome, very intricate and detailed, and the puzzles were really well done and very fun (Zelda Ocarina of Time vibes in one puzzle). It had plenty of things for us to do and find solo, and then still come together to solve the puzzles as a group. We smoked it, escaping with over 20 minutes left, with no clues, so we were ecstatic! We got out of the room and much to my surprise they made me a hand-drawn birthday card!! So incredibly sweet, and totally made my day. Coming off of our high of escaping The Heist, we decided to try their hardest room, Prison Break (with a discount for playing same day!). We were split into two cells at first, which proved difficult because we weren't communicating as well as we should have been. We needed a little bit of guidance in the beginning, but once we were out of the cells we started working better as a whole team. The final room was my favorite, I completed a really cool chess puzzle and then there was a detailed bookcase one too that I managed to figure out! I personally felt very accomplished in this room and we managed to escape with around 7 minutes left! Overall, these rooms are meticulously designed and sets were immersive. The puzzles were clever and made you feel very smart when you figured them out, which made the rooms that much more fun. They really focus on teamwork, which amplifies the connection and good vibes of your friends and family. Guidance was kind and not overbearing, allowing you to struggle on your own before gently nudging you towards what was blatantly obvious in hindsight. You can tell that the staff there have a unique bond and really enjoy making the guests feel special. They made my birthday a super memorable one and I'm so happy I decided to come here. This branch is always the best place for a good time. I've been to so many locations. And now I've been to the downtown location. Since I usually play with a team of 2 I never had a chance to play playground. And finally my time has come. And I LOVE playground. I think it's possibly the best game here. The way the room is so interactive. From the roll call section to team building. The actual slide inside is so much fun too! I had such a great time here. And the team that works here is very accommodating they're such a sweet team. And they're willing to go above and beyond for their customers. As always I would come to this company again. What a fun experience! Our group of 4 visited for a team building activity. Two of us never had been before and 2 of us had. We chose the Timeliner room. 7/10 difficulty. So right in the middle difficulty. We had a bit of a slow start even with some clues. We should have asked for more clues, but once we got started it progressed for us a bit quicker. If we had gotten started quicker we probably would have actually finished within the 60 minutes allowed. We made it to the last room, but I bet that would have taken us another 20 min or so to figure out. So bummer! But happy with how far we did actually get. I did wish we could have kept going to just finish it though. Wish they had an option to pay extra to just see and finish. Overall though I would go back to try another room and the staff was super friendly and helpful with giving us clues with requested. read more

The place is great and well equipped with everything you need to escape the rooms the people in charge explained everything about the game and how it works. I have completed two of their escape rooms, and I think they're among the best in Austin. The employees are really nice and energetic. The rooms are well decorated, immersive, and clean. It's a bit pricey at $39.99 per person, but they are a lot of fun, even for beginners. I really like that they give you unlimited hints, and you get to take photos inside the actual escape room! Other places don't allow photography or only give you up to three hints if you get stuck. Parking downtown isn't easy, so be sure to get there at least 15 minutes before your game starts. read more

We did the prison break room and as they claim its one of their most challenging room, it's quite true. We were out in two teams at first, not competing against each other but just finding ways in different ways. Good part is unlimited clues and no penalty. We got 60 mins to play it and we took around 15-20 clues. At first we were little hesitant and at the end, we're running against time. The arrangement is quite detailed and it was fun solving complex puzzles together. The person who we met at entry (sorry forgot his name) was really nice and had explained all the rules to us. At the end he was very patient and clicked some group pictures for us. You can carry your purse, wallet, keys etc. important stuff m, they do have place to keep it. Price is around 40 per person. Parking right is front was not available when we went there but plenty of roadside parking nearby and I think they have a parking lot too. read more

Super fun spot to check out! The rooms are so creative with fun back stories and puzzles that are easy enough to solve, but hard enough to make you feel accomplished when you do solve them. You do also get unlimited hints, but it's more fun to try to use as little as possible. If you don't have enough people in your group, they'll join you with another group, which isn't something I had seen before. But the people we were with were really nice, so we didn't mind! The workers are so friendly, and I feel like the escape game often has deals/coupons/discounts so it's pretty worth it! But make sure you go a little earlier than your slot, because you have to deal with downtown parking. read more

We spoke with the guy at the desk about upcoming locations... in Seattle specifically since that is where we were visiting from. Once we got in the room, we had a blast!!! Been here countless times! Finished every room and replayed almost every room, the staff is nice and the rooms are always clean and fun. We come here for every special occasion, they always make us a card for birthdays/anniversaries which I know they do for everyone but it doesn't make it any less special, we hang them on the fridge, we have nearly 5 years worth of fun to reflect on when we see them each day. Even took my brother to the one in Houston and he loved it too!! My only complaint is that they don't have more rooms for us to solve!! Nevertheless, we will keep coming here and challenging ourselves to solve the rooms faster, plus, they have such good pricing for an escape room, other places around Austin are nearly twice as much with lower quality and far less rooms to play. I would absolutely reconsider if you don't have a group to fill out the entire room. We had 3 of us. 3 others joined. Smelling like weed. Completely took over, didn't listen to us, didn't fill us in, had to constantly ask what they found/what was going on, just overran. I left mid game to ask to the manager if we could join something else, she was kind (slightly dismissive) but her partner also was quite awkward just stared blankly at me. No thoughts going there. The manager said she could book out another game for us three an hour+ later. Kind but totally not possible for us unfortunately. As we left the building, manager offered a refund but after the interaction in the "employees only" room, was just not even worth it. After talking to my group, all of us felt the same. Definitely won't be back. Manager did good. I think the instant response would have definitely been better if improved. I've done many manyyyy escape rooms. Such a great time! We had 4 groups for a work related event do 4 different Escape Games. We chose "The Heist" and 60 minutes to get through it. So much fun to work in our group to collaborate an "Escape". We ended up completing the mission with 19 minutes to spare and using 5 clues (which are unlimited but we tried not to use but we running into some roadblocks). The host was super friendly and cheerful. Definitely worth checking out when you're in Austin, where this location is walking distance from a few hotels in the downtown area. read more

Our first (and certainly not last) experience with Escape Game Austin did not disappoint! First impressions were fantastic with their THOUSANDS of glowing reviews and an extremely well done website. I especially love how they had trailers for the rooms! Online reservation is super simple, but they don't allow for private bookings. My husband and I wanted to escape on our own and ended up booking last minute during non-peak hours in to avoid others joining our time slot. This may not be poss for those with less flexible schedules. We had an awesome time solving the Gold Rush room. Definitely do-able with a pair of two with some prior experience and hints; I'm actually not sure I'd recommend the max capacity of 8 people, given the relatively smaller space. Content-wise, the room was very on theme and well-designed. There was a nice variety of puzzles, but the mechanisms got pretty redundant towards the end of the hour. We also ran into a few snags with malfunctioning props as we advanced. Thankfully, the staff kept a close eye on us and talked us through them. Speaking of, service was excellent. Our guide, Kristin, had great energy the whole way through. After our game, she gave us a sneak peek of the other rooms (it was a slower day) and offered some sick discounts for booking our next room before we left. What I always look for when I do escape rooms is the production quality and they definitely achieve that here. Their rooms are really interactive and I always leave happy. The game masters are also attentive and are there to help if you need anything. You do get unlimited hints but we always try completing the rooms without any hints unless we are truly pressed for time and are completely stumped on a puzzle. I've completed quite a few of their rooms here and will continue to return. I only hope they would open up another location that's closer to me one day. Another huge plus personally for me is that they also sell digital escape rooms that you can do with friends/family online. I believe you can only buy these in person but you get a link and a code that you can share with other people. It's a virtual puzzle so anyone anywhere in the world and play it with you. Once the puzzle is solved, you can reset it and replay it if you want as well. I've done one of the puzzles so far and my friends and I had a great time. It's very well designed for the price of it. Hopefully they come out with more of these soon because I would happily buy them all. read more

Looove this escape room! Previously had completed the rooms at PanIQ. I really liked this new place for us. They have some rooms that combine some virtual and hands on. They have upgraded some of the older rooms, so the upkeep is nice. I really like the 20% off if you book right after you complete a game. I really really like that if you do back to back games on a M-Th you get 40% off!!!!!! Totally did that today. Highly recommend The Depths and Cosmic Crisis so far. My youngest loves the Escape games that this company has done and is on a mission to do as many as he can. Over the last couple of years he has gotten to do all of the ones in the DFW area as birthday and holiday gifts. (We're aiming for experiences over physical gifts!) So, while here we tried out Classified. Which was a ton of fun! The front desk staff was super sweet. We had forgotten his Passport at home so they filled a new one out for him while we did our game. The one difference I noticed was my kiddo had to ask for his aunt to get an escaped sticker up front vs them being handed out when we beat them game like at other locations. read more
