Nice hidden gem. I've driven past this place many times and never took a second look. This place is simple and a little rugged. $5 per person to get in. Get there before 11 and you'll find yourself a nice spot. Bring what you need and don't expect picnics tables or grills. No bathroom either. The drive under the bridge can be a little rough. Parking is limited and it can get packed. We left at 3 and the one lane road was difficult to maneuver with cars trying to go in and out. The river water was perfect. It's not clear, but it sure was refreshing. The river is shallow. Nice to sit on a tube or in a chair. They offer tubing, but I didn't try it. In the area we were at, there were a few ropes kids were jumping off from. Shade is limited.

OMG I had so much fun!! Came here for the first time with my sisters and brother in law for an adult day of hanging out without the kids. I maintained social distance and when we rode the shuttle to the start we made sure to wear my mask, however of course there were so many other people on the shuttle without their mask but one we got on the river we stayed away from people and it was great. For it to be my first time I must say I did great I will definitely be coming back. The staff here was really friendly as well.

Seriously such a great little gem. It's for the people who just want to be by the water, low key, chill, and don't need the "atmosphere" of the Guadalupe river tubing drop off hustle and bustle. It's the $5 spot according to the locals and those that have known about this place for a while. You can still tube and canoe and kayak it's just not as Boujee. You can still drink and have a good time but you are left to your devices. You can drive where ya need to on the grounds but beware of getting stuck at your own risk. It's dog friendly. Kid friendly. Chill people friendly. Great Texas spot for some water and fun in a low key environment.

Paperwork process is quick and easy, waterproof bags are available for purchase and everything is provided for you, on the ride to the drop off, the driver always tells us what to watch out for and what spots to check out while we kayak. We've been here multiple times now and definitely plan on coming back!

The prices were reasonable and the staff was absolutely fantastic! We went yesterday for spring break and we had so much fun. We had never kayaked before but we picked it up right away and had the best afternoon. The shuttle was comfy and quick as well. Will be returning asap. ;)

I've been delaying writing this, my 100th review, for far too long. Unnaturally long. The John Holmes of procrastination, if you will. I had grand plans. Road trips were involved, where exotic locales were visited and the rarest of delicacies were consumed, but somewhere along the way something was lost. Largely brain cells. Exotic locals and rare delicacies are strictly the provenance of abundantly fermented fruits and grains bottled and canned for your pleasure. And in the interest of research, mind you, I felt compelled to explore the full breadth of the experience. The experience proved wide. So here I sit skimming through the superfluous and muddled memories of my recent past. Flipping through the thoughts like a teenager flips through the poster bin at the mall. But there.... recent and always. A memory written and rewritten a hundred times. A personal sojourn, a collective treasure. The river. Now run and owned by Pablo Escobar, er.... Mike, the Livery was my recent choice to float one of my favorite stretches of the Guadalupe. It's been the same for years, though I seem to remember getting in on the other side as a kid. Just north of San Antonio, where 281 passes over the river, this place was awful close to where I grew up. I even had my 10th birthday on this stretch of the river. And since this was where Hondo had taken his first trip exactly a year earlier, it seemed the obvious choice to take Alex A on his first float. I couldn't let that dude bounce out of the country w/out showing him some of the best parts of the state. $32: three tubes, one w/ a bottom; four hour float, then a ride back to the lot/let-in and your car. The staff is friendly, and Pabl...Mike was cool. He was gracious enough to give us an ice chest to borrow for free. Had he known that we would lose or destroy three ice chests this weekend, I'm not sure he would've been so generous. For his kindness, this was the only ice chest spared. Then it's a short, downhill walk to the river and you're ready to roll. The next four hours takes you down the upper Guadalupe that is primarily fed by Canyon Lake. I like this float more than the popular stretch by New Braunsfels for several reasons: 1. Travels primarily through undeveloped private ranch land. 2. In times of no rain, usually deeper with fewer portages 3. Far less people 4. No militant cops It just seems to be far more relaxing. If you like the party atmosphere and occasional rush hour traffic scene that happens on River Road, this is more laid back. There are a couple exceptions to that with two campgrounds and a spot the locals party at providing some float-by distractions. Other than that, it's low traffic, the river, and you. In a word: pleasure. The next four hours should be savored. I'm always confused by the people I see paddling by. If anything, paddle backwards. Fight the inevitable journey to the far off gulf. I choose to just relax and let the river's gentle pull drape me with banks of low hanging bald cypress. Because the faster you go, the closer you get to where you and this swath of emerald part. As for me, I'm planning my next trip as soon as I begin the brief climb to the road.

Customers might find helpful their current rates and the river map.

Update from my last review from 2017. The family went again summer 2019. We were super thrilled because they have new staff that cares about the Livery. It was like night and day from our first experience. The customer service was excellent. We will always go back based upon the beauty of the river but it's nice to have the customer service along with the kayaking.

Backed up to the river, opened back of SUV laid down and relaxed. They could clean the place up. Mow and knock down the weeds on river bank. It would give a better view. $5 per person not bad. Next time i will bring a table and chairs and a float. We had a nice little picnic. I will come back but bring my lawnmower and Machete.

Favorite place around! Kayaking or just lounging and fishing. The scenery is always picturesque and owners respectful & friendly.

The more challenging trails may not have actually been trails at all, but got us down to the river bank for some lovely photos. The grounds and trails are very clean and well maintained. The camp sites look really nice and the bathrooms (I'm told) were Buccees level clean. There's a Discovery center that seemed to be interesting for the littles. I really enjoyed the solitude and the zen. I suspect it probably gets pretty packed though.

We parked near the end of the road where you'll find a parking lot with bathrooms and changing facilities. We met our hiking group and trekked off walking along the Guadalupe River. Make sure to bring water shoes with grip cuz you'll cross the river to get to more hiking trails. The water was cool and the flow perfect...depending on the time of the year, it can get quite powerful. The weather was gorgeous - fall vibes of overcast and cooler temps. We hiked a mix of many shaded forest areas and open fields . Captured many pics of the fall changes - leaves turning shades of yellow and orange. And I gotta kick seeing live armadillos scurrying amongst the long grasses. So cute!!! With the great weather and scenery, we hiked a steady pace and clocked in approximately 8.5 miles ! Loved hiking through the river : ) Clean bathrooms and changing rooms were a plus!

I will start by saying, I don't entirely blame the business for what happened during our float, and…read morethey did try to remedy it by giving us free passes to come back - or to use another location. The main takeaways for my post if you don't want to read (TLDR): 1. This location should NOT be advertised as a float - it is seriously very dangerous when the water is low, we all popped our tubes and had small injuries from the rocks - I am glad with my injuries being small - it could have been SOOO much worse 2. Aggressive turtles and water snakes everywhere 3. The entire float route is surrounded by private property so there is literally no way to exit unless you go to the end .. The day started out great - the Gruene location was nice, we did not pay for parking as others have mentioned (not sure why we didn't). The main complaint about the actual location where you sign in and get your tubes are the rest rooms. They were not clean and the water did not work. Also, the entire place was run by children which was very weird to me. There was no one over the age of 20 working the day (Sunday) we went. A kid that looked to be literally 13 was the one to help us into the river and didn't say a word to us- just looked at us and put the tubes in the water (which I understand - I was shy at that age as well). My main concern and the reason why I am posting is that this route (in my opinion) should NOT be used by this company as an advertised float. It was genuinely super dangerous. I have floated multiple times throughout Texas and have not encountered rocks and rapids like this. We got stuck multiple times on the rocks and it took us 3 hours to just get half way to the first exit. After the second set of rocks we were DONE. Our tubes had all popped and several of us had injuries (nothing super serious - bruises and cuts from the rocks - one girl hurt her back pretty badly and had spasms) . We called the company and asked for someone to pick us up (to which another child answered the phone). They offered to bring us new tubes - which they did. The kid that brought us the tubes told us we were two hours from the exit (which apparently was not correct). Because they wouldn't come pick us up and told me we had to tube down to the end where the exit is - we decided the best option was to call the non-emergency number for the Sheriff. She told us to call 911 to get more precise coordinates for our location - which we then did. An ambulance came and the EMT's found us and were able to escort us out of the back of people's homes (we did not want to trespass on these people's properties - also there were giant staircases we were unsure if the one girl with the back injury could even make it up). Everyone was fine, the EMT's dropped us off at the entrance to Rockin R - which we were then greeted by the location's owners. They told us it had been a misunderstanding and they didn't realize someone was injured - which I literally told them over the phone twice. After the confusion subsided, they did give us free passes to come back - which I won't be using. I understand these things happen and we did sign waivers - but the company should not be using this route. Someone will get seriously injured on these rocks one of these days. I guarantee it..

Plenty of space to run, lots of inflatables to jump on, and with the (additional cost to add on) nerf guns it made for a fun experience for our son's 5th Birthday. While it checked every birthday venue box, there were a few draw backs. From the beginning the communication and booking of the party seemed a bit unorganized. We were in direct communication with the owner (Amanda) who told us directly she had a time slot available for 3:30-5:30 . While we believed we were "booked" after paying the $100 deposit we were later informed it had been double booked because we "didn't fill out the reservation form" and had lost our slot. We thought that was odd given the deposit was paid and had no idea the registration form was not filled out completely. So be sure to fill out your registration forms! (and follow up on it) We told Amanda we understood and took her offer to hold our party at an earlier time (11:30-1:30) Each party comes with a party "hostess" although it wasn't clear what she was there for aside from organizing the nerf gun activity. She did not take the initiative to run/or organize anything aside from that and asked if we would chase around the (already disbursed) kids to place wristbands on their arms. Another thing I found odd, but maybe that is the norm in these types of event venues. The inside is kind of messy and definitely looks better for a party with some decorations which was another issue since you're only given a short amount of time prior to party start time to do. Amanda also made a comment that we better have all balloons down and the party cleaned up 15 mins after the ending party time. (So be aware of the time you'll need to get everything out of the building) Aside from these things my son genuinely enjoyed his party. While there is room for improvement on the coordination of birthday parties (before and during) I can confidently say I would recommend hosting a party here as the fun definitely outweighed the few hiccups we had during it.

There is a small indoor gym with a lot of the American Ninja Warrior apparatuses. I came with a group from Camp Gladiator and they took us on the outdoor loop. Oh man was it the most challenging and fun course! There are so many obstacles on the loop that you can do half during one loop and the other half on the second loop (they are each labeled with "Loop 1" / "Loop 2"). We completed all the obstacles in one loop, which wasn't a quick adventure. There are upper and lower body obstacles as well as core. I wasn't able to complete a lot of them but it was fun to try and I know I will be hurting tomorrow since I know I used muscles I probably haven't in a while or ever. The terrain is very rocky with hills- some pretty steep, so you have to watch your footing. Also, be very careful on all of the obstacles- I almost got injured several times since I do not have the best form, nor strength. It comes with the territory though, and you sign a waiver before using the gym or loop. There are water jugs along the course which is nice if you need to refill your water bottle, or if you don't want to carry a water bottle around and are in need of a need a drink. There are no cups, but they are up high so you can pour it into your mouth if you stand below it. My only dislike about the whole loop is if I had not come with my group - which included 2 personal trainers that knew the course and proper form - there are no instructions or tips listed for each station. You sort of have to figure it out, which I know I may have not been able to for all of the obstacles had my trainers not been there. There were a lot of groups and families with kids as young as middle school aged. You can skip obstacles if needed- it is at your own pace and fitness level. $20 gets you in for the day to do whatever you may please as many times as you want. I think that is an excellent deal! As we were leaving, some young teens were there for a birthday party- pretty cool idea! No matter what you show up for, just be prepared to work your booty off and have fun, as well as bring a towel for the car trip home since you will be dirty and sweaty.
