Came here to rent a kayak for a Guadalupe River trip from FM 474. Was definitely awesome to locate this place in the middle of COVID with so many outfitters not renting for the time being. Had absolutely no issues, they helped load kayaks into the truck and were down the earth friendly. We rented 2, 2-person kayaks, double wide. From reserving them on the phone to meeting in person, everyone is chill. Will was friendly on the phone and in person. Kept his word on pricing. Definitely recommend these guys. read more

We had a great time at this campground this past weekend. We will definitely return. Pros: Not overcrowded, friendly staff, great campsites on the river, they allow you to have fun and don't watch you like hawks, our dog was allowed, seems like a local spot, they rent tubes and kayaks. Cons: the place could be cleaned up a little around entrance (old rvs, trailers), bathrooms could be updated with a little more room. But overall a really cool spot to camp and we are happy we found it. read more

Bergheim Campground - Campgrounds Near Me - Boerne, Texas

Questionable service. We were actually staying at the state park nearby. My buddy had a kayak and I decided to rent one so we could float the river with our kids. I asked the park officer and he suggested Bergheim because they were close. I googled and then called them to ensure they had some I could rent (making sure they hadn't run out for the day). This was approximately 2 in the afternoon. When I called the gentleman on the phone told me it would be $35 which included drop off and pick up (although I didn't need the drop off or pick up). We went to the campsite to pay for and pick it up. To be fair they had a lot of kayaks and canoes in stock. When I went to the office window I stated I would like to rent a kayak and the gentleman said ok. I then told him I was told $35 over the phone, however I did not need to be dropped off or picked up. He looked at me funny and I pointed to my buddy's truck that already had two kayaks on it (his personal ones) and said I would just bring it back to him that afternoon. He then asked me where I was going to get out. I told him we were staying at the park nearby and he then had a strange look on his face (as if pondering what I just told him) and then said "ok, $50." I asked "even though no one is picking me up?" He said "yes". So, even though none of that made any sense other than I was a tourist and he was taking advantage of me, I said fine and paid the $50. My buddy and the kids were waiting so I was kind of stuck. Long story short, that customer service was very sketchy and somewhat unethical. There were no prices and I didn't have to sign any rental agreement. Honestly I could have just taken it as a purchase price and they likely would have never known, but that would also be unethical. Lastly, you can tell that they do a lot of business, however none of that money looks to be going back into the property as it looks like a dump. And just some advice to the shabby guy behind the desk, clean the dip stain off of your beard you crotchety old scammer. read more

I had an excellent experience here. I went with a friend to rent kayaks, and everybody there was so great! The man behind the desk, Will, was super kind and friendly, very professional, and even lent us a dry bag for our phones at no charge! Bob drove us to the water, unloaded our kayaks and even brought our ice chests out of the van for us. After he left, we realized one of the seats on the kayak was loose so we called him and he immediately came back down to tighten it with a screwdriver. That didn't work so he drove back up and got me an entirely different kayak and switched them out so he could fix the other one. The river was beautiful, the kayaks were very comfortable and nice, and when we were finished we called Bob and he was there to pick us up in 5 minutes. Wonderful place, wonderful people, and wonderful service. 10/10 stars! read more

This spot is a very nice river spot and usually not busy. But a $5 per person including small children and $5 a vehicle it is now over priced for the experience. There needs to be a charge just per vehicle only. read more

My review is based on a river tubing experience. The campground has much to offer, but this review is solely based on a tuber's perspective. The river itself is lovely and this run is about 4 miles long! It takes a solid 3 hours and that's with no one else in the river! (We went in mid-March). There's some great class ii Rapids which are fun. Tubes are $15 bottomless and $18 with bottom which I would always suggest because there are always rocks when tubing that you don't want scratching you! It's a comparable price with other tubing companies in New Braunfels or Canyon Lake. Staff were very kind and when they said they'd come pick us up in three hours I was a little worried that they wouldn't be there or I'd have to wait another half an hour for them to come if they missed me the first time. But owner Will times it out just right and sent his man at the perfect time. Showers and restrooms are available, they aren't the spiffiest and makeshift at best but they're clean and showers have hot water. Great place. The only reason I won't be returning here though-and it's sad because it's of no fault of the company-is because of small leeches we encountered on the river. When I say small I mean minuscule-about Rollie pollie sized or smaller. I have a huge fear of them however and it made the trip a little anxiety ridden. Will said they should get cleared out with some rain but sadly I just don't think I can get over that fear! Try it out and if you do, bring river socks or shoes. Next time I come I would rent a kayak! read more

We had a group of six and went to this place yesterday to canoe down the Guadalupe. So I'll review the canoe trip first. I've been all over the Guadalupe river and this was the most beautiful stretch I have seen yet. There were great rapids, a waterfall and beautiful rock formations. It was awesome. The others in my group were thanking me for finding such an awesome place and talking about what a great time they had. Now for the staff. The people running this place we very friendly and funny, from the gentleman who got us our canoes, to the guy who dropped us off and picked us up. We were there to have fun and they made sure we did. We did not camp but we stayed after the trip to roast some hot dogs and warm up by the fire. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The grounds and the beach were beautiful and peaceful. It's was lovely. The private campgrounds in the Hill Country area are notorious for being kinda rough but this place was very clean and serene. I will be going back soon. This is my new favorite get away spot for camping, kayaking and canoeing. Thanks to people at Bergheim Campgrounds for a great time. read more

Terrible terrible terrible. I brought my family from out of town here to float the river. This place used to be great, but has seriously gone downhill since last time I was here. I asked for the mesh trash bags for our trash and they didn't have any? Then we waited AN HOUR by the side of the bridge for them to pick us up. I ended up walking probably a mile looking for the van because we thought we had been forgotten about. When he finally came, the first thing I was told was to get out of the way. Then he argued with me when I told him we had been waiting for an hour. Never mind your facility, van, and restrooms being disgusting, I would have happily came back if the service was half decent. I highly suggest you get some better staff. read more

We were first here a year ago and camped & kayaked. Fun, staff was nice, manager helpful. Good camping but some campsites didn't have fire pits or tables but it was okay. Only bad thing was the ladies bathroom was yucky then. As in not clean. We did come back to camp recently (March 2016) and it was fun. Primitive camping for tents, some RVs with hookups, highway noise a little loud but not really bad til morning. And now the ladies room is MUCH cleaner. A sweet pretty lady (Mindy? WIndy?) was even scrubbing the bathroom walls and hung new shower curtains. She was real helpful, stayed with my kids while I ran to the store and later helped me with the little ones for a potty break, also gave us some extra bottles of good water. Other staff guys also fun and helpful. Campgrounds are cleaner now, trash picked up. Lots of raccoons!.... We will be coming back for certain. read more
