It gave me a chance to stretch or warm up before getting to Comal River. According to the website tubeinnewbraunfels.com, the part of river after the chute is on the park ground. I enjoyed the tubing experience. But I was trying to catch up with my friends, I didn't fully investigate the park features. I just saw a big warning sign with information at the front entrance and the last public exit by the river. I noticed the life jacket stand but I didn't know if it was free or not. There weren't that many people last Saturday. I guess it was a good time to go tubing.

The water is crystal clear and stays a refreshing 72 degrees year-round, which is perfect for beating the Texas heat. It's a fantastic spot for tubing, kayaking, swimming, or snorkeling. The park itself is really well-maintained with grassy banks for sunbathing, a couple of sand volleyball courts, an outdoor basketball court, and plenty of space to just hang up a hammock and relax. You can even rent gear right there at the Outdoor Center.

Looks like they have sports games here. We had to use the bathroom but unfortunately it was closed. Had to use the portapotty. After that, we got walking and it was a beautiful area. Last tubing exit on the Comal River! When tubing, you gotta…read moreget out of the river here, or you'll be set to go down the Guadalupe on the way to the Gulf of Mexico. This is a public facility built and maintained by the City of New Braunfels to land your tube and gather all your stuff. There's a shallow area with concrete and hand guards to help you tie up and get ready to go back to life on land. After you gather your stuff, you gotta hike up a looooong staircase. The staircase is always wet and slippery. It's treacherous when carrying a tube and a cooler. Be careful. I think they have a handicapped ramp built into the staircase. Take your sweet time when trying to take on this dangerous staircase. When you arrive at the top of the stairs, there's a covered facility, with port-a-potties, water, trash cans to dump garbage, and the bus stops to take you back to the various tubing facilities. The shade and the facilities offered here are a welcome respite. The city recently installed CCTV cameras in here to monitor the area and keep it safe. The exit is clearly marked. Do not ignore the signs that this is your last exit on the river. You're gunna be outta luck if you're tubing beyond here. You won't be able to get back to the start of the river, and no Uber driver is going to wanna pick anyone up when they're sopping wet with a giant inner tube. But, I guess if you stay on the tube long enough past this exit, you'll end up in the Gulf of Mexico. Don't fret, the day of tubing isn't over. Those buses at the bus stop across the street will take tubers back to the start of the river, a short drive down the road. After all, the Comal River is the shortest river in Texas! Most tubing companies offer unlimited rides back to the start of the river. The time it takes to tube from the start to here depends heavily on the flow of the river. You can start where ever you wanna on the river, but you gotta end the ride here.

With free public lake access in Canyon Lake becoming more and more difficult to find, Boat Ramp 11…read more(aka Cypress Cove or Rebecca Creek Boat Ramp, or Ramp A1 if you're using TPWD maps) is a good place to know about IF you have a boat or personal watercraft. It's a steep, single-lane ramp that sits on a shallow branch of the Guadalupe River on the northside of the lake. There is no dock. There is no public park or beach here, so don't come if you are planning to picnic and swim - there are no amenities for that purpose. If you want to swim or camp nearby, you might consider making reservations or buying a $10 day pass at Rebecca Creek Campgrounds (formerly R & R Campgrounds), which is right across the street. Parking at Ramp 11 is extremely limited (listed as 8 spots) and intended only for those who are launching a boat, canoe, kayak, or other personal watercraft. Be sure to heed the warning signs, as you will be ticketed and possibly towed if you park where you shouldn't or stay parked overnight. Enforcement of boat ramp rules is shared by the Comal County Sheriff's Office, County Constables, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Access to the ramp requires driving through the Cypress Cove neighborhood. Follow the arrowed signs to Ramp 11 and do not pass go, collect $200, or enter the private property in the subdivision. They are very strict and will not hesitate to call law enforcement if necessary. Most visitors here are locals coming to fish via small boats, canoes, or kayaks, so it's pretty quiet and peaceful. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekday summer kayak session launched from here and only ran into 2 other souls during the entire 3 hours I was on the water. Perfect! Other tips: There is not much shade, so prepare accordingly. Beware of stumps, boulders, and other obstacles under the water if you are using any kind of engine-propelled craft.
