We must have driven by Bouldin Acres dozens of times and pretty much had no idea that it existed until some friends suggested it as a meetup spot to watch the World Cup last weekend. There's this huge building that looks like an unassuming co-working space, but it turns out that there is a whole fun world behind it! They have a great setup: there's a little playground, a paddle board court, corn hole, etc to keep kids entertained and they had a huge screen set up to watch the game. And tents! Thank you for having tents and misters! The ambience is spot-on. Overall, we were happy with everything that we ordered to eat. The buffalo cauliflower bites were a bit too saucy, but nice and smoky. The CM Chopped Salad--which was NOT chopped--had a ton of good veggies and a fun dressing. Our daughter managed to finagle two orders of chicken fingers and those were slightly better than the normal junk that comes out. Cold beers on tap, Aperol Spritzes on a hot day--what is there to complain about? We were glad to be leaving when we did because the place was starting to get slammed and rowdy and not as appealing, so be mindful of the partying witching hour. Dropped by to meet a few friends here last week to watch them play pickleball. They also had screens with the World Cup playing. I ordered one drink at the bar which was a fun World Cup ranch water with pineapple tequila or something. We sat outside and thankfully it was a bit shady with a fan nearby. It wasn't that crowded that day because there wasn't one of the big games on. We came here to watch the UT vs Vanderbilt game! Parking is obviously a challenge, and don't park at the CVS/Office Depot lot a block away because you WILL get booted. I was surprised to find a little gift/souvenir shop when I walked in, but quickly realizing the party's behind the second set of doors! They have covered and uncovered seating options and several TV screens. Not all of them were on, so I wonder what situation would call for all of them to be on.... The food ordering is through a QR code sticker on each table. When we went, they had a cute fall display for photo ops and a photo booth that is more permanent. I ordered the brisket & egg biscuit as well as the sweet potato fries. Didn't finish the fries but they were decently good even a little soggy! They also were super generous with the number of ketchup packets - I got 3 but only used 1. My only comment is that the bathroom was not the best, but it's definitely miles ahead a porta potty! Love the concept of Bouldin Acres. I will say that I've gone twice now, once a year or so ago and the second just recently. The rules have changed around kids so be sure to check that out before you decide to head out with your little one(s) and then can't get in. The space is huge, which is nice, and I appreciate the ease of scanning a QR code and ordering and closing your tab from your table. They have a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic options on the menu to choose from. My husband ordered the NA Mango not Tango and it was very tasty. We got the kids cheeseburger with fries and then I had been wanting to try the crunch wrap since I had seen a lot of reviews and advertising around it. I was a bit shocked when I saw the price for just the wrap with no protein ($19) I've been in Austin since 2009 and I know the prices of food are rising everywhere but it seems a little steep for a solo wrap with no sides. At least the portion/size of it was fair and it had good flavor but I most likely wouldn't order it again, paying $22 since I added pulled pork. (The brisket one that everyone talks about and is featured is an additional $4 on the $19.) Overall, I think it's a great option/venue for larger groups that want space and the ability to spread out and come and go but unless it's during HH be prepared to spend some $$. read more

The main building doesn't give you an idea what you're in for until you cross through the shopping area with clothes and gifts to the outdoors again, a huge fenced area with astroturf that feels like a little like walking into a big backyard. There are pickleball courts and lots of picnic tables, many with mesh above them to give shade along with fans and mist machines to help cool down the covered spaces. The outdoor areas can definitely overheat in the summer, so there's also an air-conditioned full bar in a separate building along with tables and TVs around the edges. There are gender-neutral restrooms that are a bit cramped too. I was there for a private event so I didn't get to see some of the normal features like live music, but the set-up was good and the food was enjoyable, and the bar is well-stocked too. It works really well as an event space too with plenty of room for people to play games on the lawn in addition to pickleball courts, and I appreciated the large murals and overall feel of the space. read more

I started to explore my list of Austin places to visit and Bouldin Acres was on it. I arrived during the weekend just about after it opened at 11:00 AM. There was one or two cars parked in the large parking lot, so at first was not sure it was opened but did see people playing on one of the pickleball courts. When I entered I was greeted quickly. The lobby had a lot of upscale athletic clothes to purchase for playing pickleball. It was similar to a golf or tennis club. I walked through this building and saw the pickleball courts and a lot of outdoor seating with games to play. In the far back was a children's playscape and a cowboy pool for little ones to swim in. The water looked a little green but it had a pump and smelled of chlorine. I actually have the same thing at my home. There was also a pretty large metal barn with a sports bar inside. This where I took a seat and ordered food and drinks. It was really nice with more indoor games and TVs showing sports stuff. You order using a code on the table which opens the Union website of app if installed. It was pretty easy to use where this place is cashless. The food option is provided by CM Smokehouse but I also saw a taco food truck. The BBQ was unbelievably good and rate it 5 stars. The atmosphere was great even early in the day. Pickelball was the main attraction here but they also have great food and bar service. I had a great time. read more

Like other recent reviews, we visited Bouldin for a Yelp event. Yes, parking is limited but there are lots that you can prepay to park (or get booted). We were lucky to score a spot down the street. Parking aside this is a great spot to either just hang out, listen to music, or play pickleball or corn hole. There is a good-sized bar serving up craft cocktails. If you are a beer snob check out there are plenty of options featuring local brews.
