Their handmade chips and salsa could be Austin's hidden gem.

The Lavaca Street Bar just might be the only bar in Austin that actually has a personality. The big room, behind the bar, is where you want to watch sports with your crew. Hit the bar at happy hour and ALWAYS order some of Austin's best Mexican food.

Buffalo chicken tenders plate with side of mac n cheese. Nice surprise with complementary side of coleslaw & pickles

Lavaca Street Bar in downtown Austin is a great bar to catch a sports game at! I came on a Friday evening to watch the college football national championship, and it was packed! There was a line to get in right before the game, but it didn't take too long. The bar itself is a lot bigger than it appears when you first walk in. It opens up to a bigger area around the corner, plus a spacious outdoor patio with a bar out there as well. They had the BEST food. With a large, diverse menu spanning from surf n turf and nachos, to mac n cheese and quesadillas. While the prices are on the higher side, you definitely get what you pay for. The portions are large and it comes out very quick and fresh. Definitely a new fav spot! Perfect for a game day outing or just a casual night out with great food and drinks! Ton of TVs and also had games like pool and shuffle board which is a fun plus.

Honestly, the nachos weren't great. The blackened chicken had very little flavor, and the buffalo chicken nachos' flavor relied heavily on the buffalo sauce. However, the meat / cheese ratio to chip was pretty solid. And the chips weren't soggy because they were so thick. Overall, 4.5/10. Wouldn't eat again

Peach pounder cocktail and some beer on tap

I came to this sports bar on a game day but not for game watching purposes. The crowd was middle aged. It was busy and super loud inside, but there were some available tables outside. They are dog friendly inside too. I had the Peach Pounder cocktail, which was as juice-like as I imagined. It was very good. It is a Malibu peach drink with strawberry and lemon. The picture in the menu had some extra additions that did not come with my drink. They also don't list prices on their drinks menu, which is very bothersome, especially for such a well-established bar. Parking was a challenge as all the designated parking for this bar was full. They have a parking lot shared with the Broken Spoke and a retail center garage except the public part of the garage is only one tiny floor. We had to park in the adjacent shopping center plaza.

Happened to stop in after a concert. It has a Large space great for groups. Lots of TVs and good music. The door guy was nice and welcoming. However the bartenders were not and seemed bothered to be at work.

It was my friends birthday and everyone migrated to lavaca. Mind you- it's a bi week for Texas football and it's 5pm.... The girl at the door refused to let me in with my dog. Which wouldn't be a big deal if EVERY other bar in Austin allowed him in. So I had to leave my friends birthday to Uber home and drop off my dog for zero reason. Austin is an amazing dog friendly city- lavaca should maybe jump on board esp considering it wasn't even busy due to a bi week.

I thought this was a great place to watch a sports game. Arrived about 30 minutes before the start of the NCAA women's final basketball game and there were plenty of spots inside and out. By the start of the game, it was poppin and not everyone could find a seat. I thought this place earned 5 stars because of the abundance of TVs even outside, and the covered patio was appreciated. The food options were also worthy of 5 stars; what other sports bar offers fish and crawfish options?? Now, it wasn't the most gourmet food we ever had, but it was satisfying nonetheless.

There were canned & draft beers. The bar could've been cleaner. The bartender was friendly & gave recommendations. We went for the food. The vibe was chill, nothing memorable.

What better place to watch the OU v UT game other than lavaca bar? It was packed but the bar was so efficient! Got our drinks very quickly, their tvs were on every wall, you werent going to miss any touchdowns no matter how packed it is! We ordered some wings and they came out SO quick and boyyyy were they delicious!

Good place to grab a drink and food if you're out downtown. They do have several tvs around the bar and lots of tables. I ordered boneless wings, but unfortunately was given bone-in. The wings tasted pretty good. I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries, but didn't realize it was a whole a tray of fries. I recommend to look at the wings and fries as something to share. Unless you're really hungry.

We popped in here while visiting Austin's famous 6th Street. The service was great and the margarita was fantastic. It seemed to be a local favorite with a great vibe.

Great food from Turf and Surf; it might seem expensive, but that's because every meal comes with enough food for 2-3 people.

I was surprised to find a little gift/souvenir shop when I walked in, but quickly realizing the party's behind the second set of doors! They have covered and uncovered seating options and several TV screens. Not all of them were on, so I wonder what situation would call for all of them to be on.... The food ordering is through a QR code sticker on each table. When we went, they had a cute fall display for photo ops and a photo booth that is more permanent. I ordered the brisket & egg biscuit as well as the sweet potato fries. Didn't finish the fries but they were decently good even a little soggy! They also were super generous with the number of ketchup packets - I got 3 but only used 1. My only comment is that the bathroom was not the best, but it's definitely miles ahead a porta potty! Also shocked at how small the bathroom was, given how large crowds can get on game days (of all sports).

Eclectic decor, crowd and menu; it was very Austin! Service was excellent throughout and we enjoyed trying several dishes off their menu! Began with a cocktail called Roselite which was both delicious and beautiful then we tried a variety of their dishes! My absolute favorite was their oysters Rockefeller which were some of the best I have had anywhere! The topic was crispy and delicious and they were perfectly cooked! Also enjoyed the half dozen or their East Coast oysters that were delicious. Enjoyed their delicious yellowfin tuna with lemons, capers, shallots and olive oil. The fries and onion dip were also just excellent ! My only let down - and it was barely that as it was so delicious and fresh - was the smoked trout dip! Part of it was a me problem as I was comparing it to my favorite version made by State Bird - a famous eatery in San Francisco where this is one of their go to dishes - and part of it was that this restaurant has that Feankin BBQ tie so when they said smoked - I was looking forward to that smoke forward taste and their was none - but it was fresh, delicious and well prepared! For reasons that make no sense to any experienced summer festival-goer, the Q2 powers-that-be decided to make this a "no re-entry" event, meaning that attendees are basically locked in the stadium with very few options for relief from the heat. Thank heaven for PointsBet Sports Bar! PointsBet Austin is located inside of Q2 stadium on the north end near the Zebra Gate, up some stairs just to your right as you enter the gate. They have cold air-conditioning, at least one phone recharging station, a few table games, seating for at least 50 people, and standing room for a couple hundred others. Plus, there's a huge horseshoe bar serving plenty of canned and mixed beverages. The whole north wall is floor-to-ceiling windows, providing plenty of natural light. Lastly, there are 18 flatscreens around the walls showing various sporting events and during our concert, a couple were streaming a live view of the concert stage. As expected, prices were "high" (like everything else in Austin these days), but they were in line with pricing available at the other beverage stands outside in the stadium, so we didn't pay any more than we would have out there for the same drink. According to their website, PointsBet opens 3 hours before soccer matches on regular Q2 game days, and it's one of the few air-conditioned places where non-VIP attendees can get a break from the goings-on outside.
