May the 4th be with you (5/4/26). Today was actually my first time at Star Bar! For YEARS we've talked about stopping and just never had the time. Since they were doing a "May the 4th be with you" event we decided to attend. We took our Ewok called Sir Benjamin Doolittle and my boyfriend took the lightsaber he made at Disney a few years ago. The boyfriend also wore his Darth Maul button down. Star Bar had themed tee shirts for sale, only twenty bucks. The boyfriend bought one. They also had two themed drinks: Blue Milk Soft Serve Marg & Jabba the Hutt (Carajillo). Both incredibly delicious. At the time we were there, we were the only ones dressed the part. It was early and I'm sure later tonight they'll see all sorts of Star Wars related stuff. Anyway, about the bar: it's pretty spacious inside with a spacious side and front patio. There's another side patio shared with Via 313 that's equally as large. The bathrooms are super clean. Extremely friendly service. We take our reactive dog EVERYWHERE with us. With this being a new place for him, he was on high alert protecting his parents. The staff were incredibly kind to him and when we left stressed how they'd like to see him back again. So sweet! I shared both cocktails mentioned above with my boyfriend. They were well-made & tasty. Definitely a cool place to hang out even if you're not into sports. Thanks, Star Bar! Bonus: Hanging out with neighbors. read more

Star Bar is one of my NFL Sunday spots to watch football. They're a dedicated Green Bay Packers watch bar and their staff always treats us great! You can expect to find multiple patios (mostly covered), two full bars and plenty of TVs. For those of you. That work in the service industry, be sure to mention for a discount. Food options are a connected Via 313 (pizza) or nearby One Taco (across the street). read more

TLDR: Come for Via 313 Star Bar, unfortunately, feels like just another space filler on West Sixth. It's not a spot I'd recommend to others, UNLESS you're specifically craving Via 313, which is definitely the star of the show here. The vibe is chill, with both indoor and outdoor seating, though the interior feels a bit like a basement with windows. read more

Solid little bar. It's attached to the Via 313, so do yourself a favor and go to their window and order up a square of Detroit style pizza. The service here so nice! The bartenders are all super friendly and will lend you a suggestion if you ask for one. My party of four all ordered beers so we were pretty set. The drinks were sooo icy cold, just what we needed for a hot Texas spring afternoon. The space is cute and incredibly clean for a bar in the area. Like we were all kind of shocked. I guess impressed would be the better word. It wasn't packed when we went in early on a Saturday. There were maybe two other tables and a few folks sitting at the bar the whole time we were there. Stop in if you're in the area, but there's no need to drive out of your way for it. But we all agreed we'd come back for a cocktail one day. read more

This place sucks the bartender is so rude I will never go here again. I do not recommend

Visiting from out of town, was happy when they put our collage team game on, we had a bid table and a group of long horn fans asked if we were staying for the AnM game said no they can have our table when our game was over. Few minutes later they put a reserved notice on our table. We told the manager we told a group they could have our table and asked if someone paid he said no they are friends of the owner ?? He pointed to a group we told we had promote table to. Sorry but is BS they got butt hurt and had to call daddy, you should treat all customers equally come to Austin a lot but won't spend my money here. read more

After walking into a bar up the street that was recommended....and it being shoulder to shoulder.....we walked out so we could find someplace a little more chill. This was perfect! This is NOT your crazy Main Street bar even though it is on the Main Street. Drink prices were fair for the area. It was after 10PM and we easily got a seat which was awesome. Bathrooms were gross but what bathroom isn't in a bar on a Friday night? Definitely a great night cap. read more

The best pizza this side of Italy! Really different delicious pizza - it's square and the ends are crunchy and cheesy - like the best part of Mac and cheese. (It's not big pieces of dough). So good! Super friendly service. Great location on 6th Street with a cheerful ambience. Reasonable prices too. read more

Packers bar. Super fun during the games. Lots of seating and a good location for the west side

Still 5 stars but they are updating the inside so you'll need to sit on the patio. Insider tip: ask the GM, Jared for a "tour" of the remodel and it almost always ends with a handy... at the very least, a make out session comes free. Code word "Cole" still works for the cuddle+shot special. Enjoy! read more

We stopped by for a pre-Kentucky Derby cocktail and we had a great time. Star Bar has been around for quite a while and I've stopped by here a few times for a cocktail or two and have never been disappointed. There are a few bar areas and a nice outdoor area that I frequent as it's great people watching. Seeing it was Derby Day and we were bar hopping before the race we ordered mint juleps (Disclaimer: I'm not into this genre of cocktails but WTF it's Derby Day Yo!). I've drank a real mint julep, a real mint julep satisfies my palette one day a year, this was not a real mint julep. Passable yes, real no.... However... great friendly service, a nice vibe, and primo people watching. Nice hangout on the west side. read more

Club Wyndham provided a discount at this bar so I had cheap shots all night , very generous shots might I add. Best place to drink on 6th, not the most traffic, so vibes are better elsewhere but a great place to start to the night. read more

First, let me say Jaime and his staff were friendly and helpful. They did their best to make up for Jed, the GM. I had been emailing Jed since February to arrange an event for a large group of people. He assured me that we could order from the Via 313 pizza window. We continued to email right up until 3 days before our Aug 27 event. He assured me everything was ready. Imagine my disappointment and embarrassment when Jaime explained the pizza truck was closed, and had been for 3-4 months! Is Jed such a bad GM that he doesn't know what's going on in his locations? Or was he blatantly lying? We may never know, since he won't respond to my email. Shame on you, Jed. read more

Nice large bar with an attached pizza option, but I would not recommend. Although it seemed like a case of mistaken identity, the bouncer/bar-back with a large man bun was incredibly aggressive towards my group of girlfriends. We felt threatened and left immediately. Kinda pricy but a very nice bar with good service. Recommended if you go to Austin. Liberal shit hole (Austin) but they have good beer and food. read more

I go to the bar and ask for water and the bartender confirms "water" 3 separate times like he was personally offended. He then pours a class of vodka and tops it with tap water and says "here's your water"...like I'm sorry you clearly couldn't afford to be in a frat in college but slipping shit in girls drinks in your "adult job" is unacceptable. Yet if a girl has too much to drink and something happens then it's her fault...if a girl asks for water, give her water. Jesus Christ. read more

Star Bar - a large group of people watching a football game - Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

The star bar isn't bad, really! Came here to watch the FSU vs UF game on a Saturday afternoon b/c this is the place for all Seminoles football game watching parties in Austin. The inside looked modern, bright and pretty laid back. The bar was busy filled with lots of FSU alumni and fans. The staff even dressed in garnet and gold (our school color) and they were nice and attentive. I really wanted to try the Hail Mary but food wasn't offered that day so I ordered from the Valentina's food truck which was amazing. I am not a beer drinker so I got the $4 make your own Bloody Mary. I was quite satisfied. They had all kinds of ingredients on the table from celery, jalapeño, asparagus to olives. I enjoyed my DIY a great deal. I actually don't watch football much but I certainly don't mind coming here again to cheer for my school and get some Bloody Mary from the bar and tasty food from the truck outside! I heard they had free cheese plates on Wednesdays? Hmm, wish I lived here in ATX! read more

$20 for a pour of Basil Hayden? You could almost buy a bottle for the price of two. Outrageous

Not one for traveling anywhere near W6th or E6th I found myself there last pm. The first gob smacking experience was to see how I barely recognized the stretch of W6th. Gone was Katz Deli which I know passed away several years ago, but it changed the scene so much. The original Opals is a construction site and the Original Hoffbrau Steak house looked completely out of place. We met some folks at the Star Bar, which I remember as a quaint little modernish bar. Now it's a huge bar with all the types of 6th Street folks you would expect to find in this neck of the woods. We entered and immediately was served, even though they were getting busy. Recognized by the bartender to let me know she knew I was there and then when she finished with the one order, she came a took mine. The second trip the gentleman bartender took my order and provided me with a nice pour of Jamison. We headed to the back room after we noticed there was one. This is where we found our friends and the Valentino BBQ Tex Mex trailer. I don't do trailers, never really have, just a personal choice to be seated and have a dining experience with a waiter. The trailer was providing a number stand system, and food was being ferried out to customers. Albeit, a conversation with one young men mentioned he had be waiting 20 minutes or so to get his order. The back room has expansive tables and TV's set up for football games. A bit like a frat house style with picnic style plastic tables and chairs. A stark difference from the inside of Star which is nicely appointed. Perhaps they are working at really building out the space since it seems uncompleted and a bit of a mish mash. We hung out for about an hour and enjoyed the Santa Clause pub crawl folks coming in for a drink. We would pop in again if our friends were gathering there, since the attentiveness of the staff and drinks were on point. read more

Star Bar - Oh look a wall - Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

Location, location, location sets the stage for this Austin popular spot. Conveniently located on west sixth street (not the part that has the college bars and associated debauchery), Star Bar attracts an after work crowd, especially younger professionals. At least on the Fridays I have dropped in. There are serving two bars inside, both relatively small and at times you'll need to compete for counter space. Not that many wandering servers (on Friday and Saturday when I've been) so I typically get them myself at the bars. The bar staff is very attentive and quick. They have a good selection of local, craft beers, it's hard to know what they have (I can't find a beer menu, maybe it changes too frequently) but you can ask and they're glad to give you a small sample. The bars may have different items so check both if you're looking for your favorite. They will got fetch one from the other if it's not too busy. The staff is very skilled in mixed drinks, and their mixed drink menu is diverse. This applies to shots as well. Great place to sit outside on one of their patios, plus they have big screen TVs for sports. I wouldn't necessarily go there for a game, most of the patrons are more into the socializing. It's great for keeping up with your game of interest, per se. It's not the easiest to park given construction and the usual downtown Austin congestion. I recommend Uber or one of the new-fangled scooters. Recommend for meeting friends in a casual environment with drinks that most people will find something they like. read more

It was alright, I just wished there was a bit more attentive. There was an aggressive bouncer there. He also ruined the atmosphere.

Nope. Used to be the place for Austin's movers and shakers to meet and drink with friends. Now it's just trendy, expensive and too many tourists. No thanks. read more

Visited Austin for a couple of days and stopped in here last Thursday night after grabbing some pizza from the food truck nearby. Gianna (I hope that's how you spell it) was bartending and was an absolute gem. Excellent service and drinks, and she actually took the time to write out a list of places she recommended we visit on our trip. We had a great time at Star Bar and will definitely be visiting again the next time we're in the area. read more

Came here Sunday for some NFL playoff action with a serious hangover and in need of a drink haha. We were immediately greeted by the bar tender and told the specials which were $4 double mimosas and a bloody mary bar! She had me at double mimosas. We ordered those and I was surprised how an entire bottle of champagne was used for our order of three! CHEERS!! There is inside seating, outdoor seating and also covered patio seating in the back complete with artificial turf :) There is another bar in the back as well as bathrooms and everywhere here is dog friendly. Drinks were great and very affordable. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Loved their bar T-shirts as well. Will definitely visit again when I'm in town. :) read more

We went in on Sunday for the Hail Mary - the infamous Bloody Mary that is a meal in a glass. We Googled the best Bloody Mary in Austin and this was rated #1. The Mary was huge! It was a great flavored drink with a lot of fun toppings! The bartender was just the coolest and just him alone makes me want to go back. Be prepared to pay $21 for the Mary, but the experience is worth it. Indulge a bit and go for it! read more

I like the Star Bar and know one of the bartenders that works there. The first real "upscale lounge" place in this now booming area of W 6th. Once a year every year we stop in for shots of Bushmills on our way from Mother Egan's down the street to Little Woodrow's next door on St. Patrick's Day. The patio out front it great to people watch from and the patio out back is great for just general relaxing. My wife won't go there because she is afraid of the women's bathroom. Not the bathroom itself, but the people inside it. She said every time she goes in there something weirder than the last time happens. Girls making out, Girls having sex, girls discussing whether you can get pregnant from....well it just goes on and on. I usually go during happy hour, when it isn't quite so crazy. I like the Star Bar, the fact that is across the street from my favorite pub, Little Woodrow's is a plus too. Check out the photo I took, of the Star Bar and the sunset behind it. The place is a little pricey for me, but not out of line with other places like it. read more

I do know several people that work here, so I'm sure I'm biased, but I love Star Bar! - The drinks are always well made and strong! - They have a small front patio where you can people watch on 6th. - They also have a large back patio which has been fancied up and has it's own bar now. - Great martinis. - Big comfy boothes inside. - Fast service from the experienced waitstaff and bartenders. read more

Oh, woe is me all you too cool for anything other than east side or Rainey street kids. This bar has been nicely renovated and has a very laid back feel to it. The bar itself is very open and airy with side windows that open all the way. I like to get a table out front for happy hour( $2 domestic beers) and people watch, or grab one in the back to watch a game or play washers. Yes, it can get a little crowded on weekends, but that that seems to be the only time. My favorite part--- Wednesday cheese plate all night! With any purchase of wine (even a half bottle) you get a delicious mix of artisan cheeses, grapes, prosciutto, crackers and honey. The bartenders are over-the-top friendly and my drinks are almost always 50/50. Clearly, this is my go-to bar on W. 6th. read more

We really enjoy all the bars on West 6th, but something about this place just feels like home. Something about the management and staff just makes us feel like family.
