This is a very casual place on the UT campus. Order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. While we waited I perused the large selection of books and games on one wall. Food was good and husband really liked the thick onion rings. Decent selection of beer on tap.

Was looking for something new to me with a friend in town. Figured it'd be nice and quiet on a summer Monday afternoon. No problem finding parking! He had a giant burger with fries that looked amazing. I had the chicken fajita tacos and tots. Everyone was so nice and the food was fast and delicious! The patio is nice with the big fans blowing.

Posse East has been in Austin for over 51 years and their burgers are classic. I got the cheeseburger and the patties looked hand shaped. The meat had a good mix so once cooked it was moist and beefy. I also liked how it was salted just right. There are too many places that just over salt their burgers or under salt them and over salting to me is worst. They also managed to balance the richness of the beef and fats so you didn't feel full at first bite but satisfied after finishing the burger. Just the right mix of Mayo and mustard. There is no need for ketchup on these burgers! The greens and the onions gave it a good texture. Wash it down with a beer and everything is all right.

Great spot with super resonable prices. This place feels like the last of old Austin.

The most Horrible service that we have received in Austin. Staff was disrespectful and had the audacity to be sarcastic to our family.

First of all, I've been coming to this spot since the 80s (before it was the Crown!), but after…read moreleaving ATX in 2013, my trips to the Crown have been few and far between (last one was in 2018). I knew I wanted a burger from the Crown before I started the long drive from South Carolina. Despite a literal wrench in my tire, I managed to make it there on 2/28 by 1pm, where my travelling companion and I met up with an old friend of mine from college. There was a bike swap going on, which felt about right for ATX. We ordered a beer and a burger then settled in on the porch (the part I call the "inside/outside" because it has a roof). I'm not going to say the Crown has the best burgers in the world. I guess it depends on what you want in a burger. I will say that, for the price, the Crown has the best pub burger - a good basic burger. I got a jalapeno cheeseburger, but I can attest to the deliciousness of the veggie burger and the mushroom-swiss. Back in the early 90s we used to bring my daughter with us and she would play pinball with my friend, Dirk. The bartenders at the time included a couple of guys who used to work at Duddley's Draw in College Station, TX. In the early oughts, I would come in for lunch and try to decide if I wanted the chicken tacos or a burger. Later I came in with the guy I was dating for too long for beers and a burger. Times change, Austin grows (parts are completely unrecognizable and no longer have that "vibe" that seems uniquely Austin; however, the Crown is a jewel in the rough that continues to shine for those of us who can see it. I had an awkward piece of time on 3/4/26 so I stopped by for a NA Guinness before heading out to see my aunt in Lakeway. I had the pleasure of seeing Derwin! My trip wouldn't have been complete without saying "hi." It took a minute, but he did eventually remember me! Here's to hoping it doesn't take another 8 years; because, we only get older and my friends are starting to show their age! I hope the Crown continues to serve great burgers and cold beers. I'll be back next time I make the pilgrimage home!

Solid burger and a great Austin bar. I do think the burger is overrated and definitely not a top…read moreburger in Austin. My friends were even going as far to say it's a 6.0 burger. I think it's more of an average burger like a 7.3. Love drinking here but the food is only for if you are starving.

After reading through all the reviews, I noticed there were hardly any photos so I added 10. Parking can be an issue and you need to be careful because you could get towed or booted in this neck of the woods. They do have about a dozen or so spots behind the bar. The interior reminds me of a burned out home with a dirty concrete floor below and scorched, black exposed rafters above. Plenty of old car license plates on the wall and a jukebox off to the side. Bring a picture of your dog, because they have a large corkboard for customers and their pooches. They have plenty of good craft beers on tap and a decent full bar. This is a great place to bring your own darts or pool cue and since there are two dartboards and a pool table here. There's plenty of four top tables, seating at the bar or five booths to sit at. There's also an outdoor seating area that allows smoking. If you are hungry, they do have a food truck out back that serves up tacos, ramen, nachos, etc. On our visit, the truck was not open after 4:30pm. As a result, we just had one beer and left. It's your overall decent local neighborhood dive that has its regulars, but not worth driving across town for.

It seems like it might be a relatively new place cause I wasn't able to find reviews online for it, but the descriptions on the menu sounded pretty good! First of all, the bar itself is quaint but there are lots of little coffee tables with chairs, and a couple larger sized tables (like to seat 4 people), as well as a couple individual chairs with spaces good for working or just sitting and reading etc. The hotel that it is inside of is very cute as well, and has an old Austin feel to it. Something that I wasn't aware before I came was the happy hour menu is actually shorter and the regular menu. There are only three cocktails listed on the happy hour menu actually, at a lovely price of seven dollars each from 3-6pm. The regular menu does have other drinks as well. The drink I tried was the gimlet on the happy hr menu which was very strong, and refreshing with a lot of lime taste to it. There is a complimentary valet for up to two hours if you're coming to the bar, in fact you aren't allowed to self park (it's valet only). The staff at the bar, valet, and at the front when I came in were all very welcoming. :) All this said, I only took off a star since i think the happy hour menu is a bit limited. Otherwise the staff, vibes inside, and the drink I had were all lovely as was the hotel itself!
