What a fantastic Austin dive bar staple. As soon as you hit the front door you feel like you belong. A wonderfully authentic dive bar with awesome employees, spacious outdoor patio, good prices, and delish bar fare. The epitome of a beer & shot bar (with frozens and other options, of course, it is ATX after all). The burgers are good, you guys. Like really good. And huge! My boyfriend and I each got our own and we totally could have shared. The French fries portion was equally huge. I couldn't even eat half my cheeseburger because I got too full. No worries, next day lunch. I'm really happy I finally made it to Billy's. I'm not gonna be a stranger...too many things on the food menu I need to try.

If you are visiting during a game, expect it to be extremely crowded and loud; arrive early for seating. Food is amazing ! I would recommend any burger

The next chapter in FINDING FRITO, where the wife and I search out the best and worst Frito Pies in Austin. This place was chosen by Shana and in a rare occurrence we got two different Frito Pies. The only had a Veggie Frito Pie so Shana got that and I got the Frito Pie Burger. They do have a touch tunes that plays louder when you pick music. She enjoyed hers and mine was good but not great. The burger part was better then the previous Frito Pie Burger but the Frito Pie part was not quite as good. The fries were solid and even the queso was ok for a place that is not Mexican food or queso centric. Shana thought the Veggie Frito pie was fine, nothing special and liked the Atmosphere and the Frozen Sangria. There is not a lot of seating, one table in the video game room, a few in the main dining area, Then the picnic tables outside. You order at the bar, then they call your name and you go pick up your food. It is two frozen drinks and then beers. Not a full bar. It has outside seating and several TV's. It got crowded fast when we were there due to Red River Rivalry with Texas vs OU so it ended up pretty packed. The staff was friendly and they put out a water jug for you to be able to get water without waiting in line which in this heat is great. Overall it was mid. Nothing really bad about it but nothing to really make it stand out. Middle of the road for us but it was a pretty popular place.

Billy's was an unexpected find as I wanted to grab a quick lunch. The interior reminds me of many cozy neighborhood bars frequented in earlier years, yet was not at all a dive bar. The staff jumped to serve me and were uber friendly, a big plus for me. They had 512 Pecan Porter so I couldn't pass that up. It went well with the bacon cheeseburger, grilled well and served with a decent house salad. I can see myself stopping in on a Saturday afternoon to kick back or anytime I need lunch or quick dinner. Although with 512 on tap, I might not leave too quickly. Highly recommended.

I was searching for the breweries and Billy's was one of the search results. It was obvious that they are not a brewery but We wanted to try a new place so settled on it. The parking at this place can be tricky and it was full when we reached but somebody soon left saving us the trouble to figure out another option. When we entered the the joint, our first impression was not great. Coming in from outside with a bright sun, the low lighting made it look dinghy but by the time we ordered and got the beers, it looked a lot better. The beers were fresh and the service was great. The fries were surprisingly good. We will go back again at some point to try their burgers.

First time here for the Packers (GO PACK GO) vs Chiefs game and had an amazing time. We're from WI and moved only 4 years ago and we felt so welcomed by this new to us place, while simultaneously feeling like we were at favorite, familiar bar back home. Excited to come back for many more games! We ordered the Packer game specials of the night...that were a pitcher of Green&Gold, cheese curds (with ranch!), and a sauerkraut bratwurst. They have lots (over 20!) of quality local beer options for a good price. The regular food menu is also pretty extensive. When you order food you find a spot and they announce when your items are ready by your name. We sat outside and could hear the announcements clearly and they had a pretty fast turnaround time for food for a packed game night. There are multiple different rooms, interior set-up almost like a house, and there are tvs in 2 of the 3 areas, as well as a nice wooden deck patio with a tv and heaters and shade coverage. There is free Wi-Fi here, code above the bar, and clean, single stall bathrooms in the back.

All American with cheese and grilled jalapeño.

Not divey but kinda wants to be? They do have a pool table and arcade games. TVs all over. Bartender/server is welcoming and chatty. Nice selection of beer on tap. Go with a burger. Any way you want it. You won't be disappointed!

It's our second time here we were excited to be back. My boyfriend ordered the Billy's Philly with grilled chicken, I had the vegetarian burger. Both came with a pickle slice and the most amazingly seasoned fries. The bartenders are quick and fast with orders, but some take longer to make than others for food. So keep that in mind if you don't order food together! But with the food being more along the lines of "bar food" we are loving it. It's very well crafted and quality food. It does get crowded for trivia nights, so get here earlier on those nights. We are glad they have outdoor seating for when we decide to bring our dog. Also, be expected to park in surrounding neighborhoods since there is limited parking.

I'll start by complimenting the staff! Everyone we encountered - bar tender, server both - had a great sense of humor and were a pleasure to engage with. They treated us to a round of shots after we had a few rounds. Generally the vibe of the crowd is very friendly and we made some new friends to hang with part of the evening. I did not have the opportunity to eat anything as we came from dinner BUT I did hear from three separate people that the carrot cake is to die for. Who would have thought?

Regardless of the food or ambiance the server is the face of the establishment. Bad service can easily lead to a bad review. In this case the waitress, when she finally showed up, was not friendly. She was indifferent, like we were bothering her, and had a borderline RUDE attitude. The clincher was her assumption on who was paying the bill. We waited a good ten minutes for her to initially show up. When she got to the table the first thing she asked for was a credit card to cover the drinks we ordered; which I thought was strange since our family was sitting at a table and ordering dinner. After the food was delivered she never returned to check on us. Other servers had to get us refills and were happy to do so. When she finally returned at the end of the meal with the bill , all smiles of course, she had already run the credit card without ever giving us the bill to review??? The card she asked for, for the drinks, was NOT meant to pay the bill. We were going to split the bill but since she already ran the card the cardholder didn't feel comfortable asking her to rerun the card. This was VERY awkward!! None of us have EVER experienced anything like this ever!! I wish I had gotten her name. I'm giving a 2 star review because everyone though the food was good.

Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. I was surprised how big it was, they have a patio, a bar area and lots of tables I was shocked as from the outside it looks tiny. Service was fantastic which was shocking with them closing soon. The service was enough to want me to go back hopefully for us in this area they end up somewhere close by as I know how hard it is to find good workers. Pretzels were good! Onion rings were our favorite! Their version of the Philly was just okay, was very plain with not much flavor hubby didn't even finish half. But the star of the show was the fish and chips. My son was over the moon! Couldn't even finish half of it and he wanted to haha. The mushy peas were yummy and added an authenticity to the dish. I didn't really use the curry sauce that also came with the dish. To me it doesn't go with fish or chips. "Nosh & Bevvy Won't Forgive Me for All the Ways They Wronged Me"…read more That title is meant to be ironic. After more than fifteen years as a customer, I made one mistake: a four-dollar tab discrepancy on a day when I had just been turned away from a dental appointment because my blood pressure was too high for treatment. I was upset, distracted, and wanted to be around people I believed were my friends. That was the last day I ever stayed there as a customer. Let's go down the list. I have been accused of skipping out on my tab. The truth is that after fifteen years of faithful patronage, there was one incident involving approximately four dollars. I had added items to my order, paid cash, and made a mistake. One mistake in fifteen years. After that happened, I became concerned that I would continue to be treated as though I couldn't be trusted. In my experience, comments about unpaid tabs continued to surface. Rather than create another misunderstanding, I made a point of being generous. On the very next occasion I tipped Charlie more than fifty percent. Instead of feeling appreciated, I arrived the next time feeling insulted when the entire amount was simply pocketed without so much as an acknowledgment. Maybe others see that differently. That's how it felt to me. The situation became even more disturbing when interactions began taking place outside the bar itself. While standing in front of my own home, I experienced conduct that I considered harassment. As a result, I filed a police report and have the corresponding case number in my email records. What disturbed me even more were stories that reached me through people connected to my former partner. According to what we were told, false rumors were being circulated claiming that my ex-girlfriend had committed suicide. Whether people thought this was gossip, entertainment, or somehow harmless, it was not. The psychological harm caused by spreading something like that is difficult to overstate. Shame on everyone involved. What you don't know is Satara an I  spoke with witnesses that completely implicated Gilbert in the rumor. What strikes me now is that I nearly forgave all of this. I removed earlier reviews because I genuinely wanted to move on. I thought it was over. I thought everyone could move on with their lives. Apparently not. If people insist on dragging the issue back into the light, then here it is. The reality is that I don't even particularly miss the place. What I do object to is being disrespected. When a business chooses to disrespect a customer who supported it for fifteen years, there are consequences. One of those consequences is that customer telling his side of the story publicly. A Message to the Staff: If I believe I am being harassed in public--whether at Night Owl or anywhere else--I will pursue every legal remedy available to me. And Sam, for what it's worth, I am sorry that your employees have represented your business in a way that ultimately cost you a longtime customer and the loss of business from everyone else that read & took this review to heart as a warning & again, Sam & Charlie, for what it's worth I wanted to make all of this go away.  Fifteen years. One four-dollar mistake. And somehow I'm still the one expected to apologize when I feel like my partner and I were the ones most wronged. Because I'm not a completely vindictive man. If I get an apology from every employee that works building that knows me, In writing, I will remove this review. -- Mad Dashiell
