These burgers are badass for a place that really just is a dive bar on a weird corner on a major street. I went there on National Burger Day and got a great deal on a huge smash burger and beer. Its very much a neighborhood bar with friendly and sometimes slow service with a smile and joke. read more

A unique joint to hangout on enjoy a draft and cheeseburger. Started off with iced unsweetened tea and some fried pickle spears. They were crunchy, hot, crisp and delicious. Then ordered the cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger was a double fister and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The bun was fresh and the patty was seasoned and juicy. All the veggies were fresh. It was very tasty. The fries were seasoned just right, piping hot and delicious. The whole meal was very tasty. If you're wanting to be waited on, this place isn't it, you better get on down the road. You go up to the counter and grab a menu and place your order. They give you a cup of ice and you go get your tea. When your food is ready, you go back up to the counter to pick it up. If you need more ice, you go back up to the counter and they'll fill your cup/glass up. Basically, everything is self serve. Which is fine. Just letting you know what to expect. Don't go in and sit down at a table waiting for someone to bring you a menu and take your order. You'll be there a while...because it ain't gonna happen. The joint has a very laid back vibe. Family friendly. Had a lot of kiddos running around playing games on some of the machines as well as playing pool on the pool table. They actually have two game areas. One with a pool table and a couple of dart boards and another room that has some arcade games in it. There's seating and and they also have a deck outside. It's a pretty cool place to and enjoy some really good food. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. read more

Pretty good local spot. Nice staff and quick service! The menu looks really good when it comes to bar food. Good choice of drinks and a good price on drafts. The outdoors patio is a bit small but a great place to hang out! read more

Nice spot with a tiny patio and some parking. They played Metallica through the speakers when I first walked in. Good draft beer selection, about $1 less than a lot of the bars. They gave a pool table that takes quarters. I would like to come back and try the food. read more

Billy's on Burnet - American Near Me - Austin, Texas

What a fantastic Austin dive bar staple. As soon as you hit the front door you feel like you belong. A wonderfully authentic dive bar with awesome employees, spacious outdoor patio, good prices, and delish bar fare. The epitome of a beer & shot bar (with frozens and other options, of course, it is ATX after all). The burgers are good, you guys. Like really good. And huge! My boyfriend and I each got our own and we totally could have shared. The French fries portion was equally huge. I couldn't even eat half my cheeseburger because I got too full. No worries, next day lunch. I'm really happy I finally made it to Billy's. I'm not gonna be a stranger...too many things on the food menu I need to try. read more

Ate here for the first time today, which is a bit surprising since my wife and I live in the neighborhood close by. Food was A+. Great burger and bun. Tasty french fries. Onion rings were among the best I've had in a long time. See pictures for what everyone ordered. All of us, 10 in all, enjoyed the food. Sat outside. Inside looked pretty "meh" to me, kind of tired and quite dark. Ordering process was unnecessarily slow and a big negative if you're in a hurry. They cooked the food fresh so it takes a long time. If you're in a hurry, I would suggest going elsewhere. Nice menu and reasonable prices for the area. read more

Update, mainly to post a pic of the Cobra Dog, a new item for me. Service is, as always, super friendly, and the food is, again, super tasty. Always a nice selection of craft beer to be had, one of our favorite lunch spots in Austin. read more

Billy's on Burnet - Uptown burger - American Near Me - Austin, Texas

What a great spot! We were visiting from New Orleans and staying in the neighborhood. We stumbled upon this great joint. The burgers were great, the fried pickles were on point (made a trip for a second order before leaving town). The staff and bar patrons were out of this world! Made us feel like we have a home bar away from home. read more

The next chapter in FINDING FRITO, where the wife and I search out the best and worst Frito Pies in Austin. This place was chosen by Shana and in a rare occurrence we got two different Frito Pies. The only had a Veggie Frito Pie so Shana got that and I got the Frito Pie Burger. They do have a touch tunes that plays louder when you pick music. She enjoyed hers and mine was good but not great. The burger part was better then the previous Frito Pie Burger but the Frito Pie part was not quite as good. The fries were solid and even the queso was ok for a place that is not Mexican food or queso centric. Shana thought the Veggie Frito pie was fine, nothing special and liked the Atmosphere and the Frozen Sangria. There is not a lot of seating, one table in the video game room, a few in the main dining area, Then the picnic tables outside. You order at the bar, then they call your name and you go pick up your food. It is two frozen drinks and then beers. Not a full bar. It has outside seating and several TV's. It got crowded fast when we were there due to Red River Rivalry with Texas vs OU so it ended up pretty packed. The staff was friendly and they put out a water jug for you to be able to get water without waiting in line which in this heat is great. Overall it was mid. Nothing really bad about it but nothing to really make it stand out. Middle of the road for us but it was a pretty popular place. read more

I was searching for the breweries and Billy's was one of the search results. It was obvious that they are not a brewery but We wanted to try a new place so settled on it. The parking at this place can be tricky and it was full when we reached but somebody soon left saving us the trouble to figure out another option. When we entered the the joint, our first impression was not great. Coming in from outside with a bright sun, the low lighting made it look dinghy but by the time we ordered and got the beers, it looked a lot better. The beers were fresh and the service was great. The fries were surprisingly good. We will go back again at some point to try their burgers. read more

Billy's was an unexpected find as I wanted to grab a quick lunch. The interior reminds me of many cozy neighborhood bars frequented in earlier years, yet was not at all a dive bar. The staff jumped to serve me and were uber friendly, a big plus for me. They had 512 Pecan Porter so I couldn't pass that up. It went well with the bacon cheeseburger, grilled well and served with a decent house salad. I can see myself stopping in on a Saturday afternoon to kick back or anytime I need lunch or quick dinner. Although with 512 on tap, I might not leave too quickly. Highly recommended. read more

First time here for the Packers (GO PACK GO) vs Chiefs game and had an amazing time. We're from WI and moved only 4 years ago and we felt so welcomed by this new to us place, while simultaneously feeling like we were at favorite, familiar bar back home. Excited to come back for many more games! We ordered the Packer game specials of the night...that were a pitcher of Green&Gold, cheese curds (with ranch!), and a sauerkraut bratwurst. They have lots (over 20!) of quality local beer options for a good price. The regular food menu is also pretty extensive. When you order food you find a spot and they announce when your items are ready by your name. We sat outside and could hear the announcements clearly and they had a pretty fast turnaround time for food for a packed game night. There are multiple different rooms, interior set-up almost like a house, and there are tvs in 2 of the 3 areas, as well as a nice wooden deck patio with a tv and heaters and shade coverage. There is free Wi-Fi here, code above the bar, and clean, single stall bathrooms in the back. read more

As a native Cheesehead this place is perfect! The burgers are simple, yet amazing. They have cheese curds too. Things to know before you go: they dont serve hard alcohol but have a decent variety of everything else. Also, if you plan to go to watch the game know that it gets packed. If you need seating for a group get there early. There is also a patio with TVs. If you go by yourself, you can find a spot or people will invite you to thier table (true Cheeseheads). Anyway, its my favorite spot in Austin to watch the Pack. read more

Most definitely in the top 5 of austin burgers. Juicy big as your face burgers . The Uptown and Mushroom.Swiss burger will make you lactate. It's our second time here we were excited to be back. My boyfriend ordered the Billy's Philly with grilled chicken, I had the vegetarian burger. Both came with a pickle slice and the most amazingly seasoned fries. The bartenders are quick and fast with orders, but some take longer to make than others for food. So keep that in mind if you don't order food together! But with the food being more along the lines of "bar food" we are loving it. It's very well crafted and quality food. It does get crowded for trivia nights, so get here earlier on those nights. We are glad they have outdoor seating for when we decide to bring our dog. Also, be expected to park in surrounding neighborhoods since there is limited parking. read more

My 3 stars should be for Yelp, not Billy's. I searched for a place to get a burger close to my daughter's house. BIlly's came up. When I went in, it was just a beer joint. Had I stuck around, I'm sure I could have ordered a burger from someone eventually, but I don't think Yelp should have ever even suggested this. I went down the street and got chicken strips (which were awesome BTW) read more

Hubby read about this place having great burgers on Reddit so we went with our gran-pups riding along for an adventure. Weather was nice, great outdoor patio to enjoy. But when we got there and checked out the menu our go-to favs screamed out- so instead of getting burgers he had a BLT and I got a Reuben sandwich. The guy inside that took my order was so nice and friendly. Both sandwiches were SO good! Fried okra was perfectly fried, not overdone or greasy. Did not disappoint and everyone enjoyed! I guess our burger adventure will need to continue and we'll be back for those soon-:) read more

This place has a midwest-local-place-you-go-to-pre-game-your-kid's-little-league-baseball-game kind of vibe. In a good way! They have some fun daily happy hour specials with bottomless mimosas on the weekends. The highlight for me were the burgers! What an awesome menu if you're looking for a satisfying, messy burger, heavy on the toppings. I got the Uptown burger (bacon, blue cheese, marmalade, and avocado) and would go back just for that again! My husband got the Cobra Burger (Bacon, jalapeno, cheddar and chipotle mayo), which was also delicious! Fried pickles were top notch as well read more

Even though I've been in Austin for 27 years, I regret saying that today was my first time here. They have been around for 40 years which means that they still have that old school vibe and have been doing something right. The woman behind the counter was a superstar. She took orders and then notified customers when their order was ready. After two of their frose's I already had a healthy buzz because these are truly some of the best I've ever had. Overall it's a very welcoming place and enjoyable for everyone. The burger was good but I personally found it a bit too much. Edwyn on the other hand totally enjoyed his. It was good but not very memorable. read more

I have only one experience here and it was a to-go order. Randomly came to here with hubs to pick up food for home as we were already in the area and he had a burger craving. This has a typical dive bar atmosphere but spruced up juuuust a little bit. Super kind guy behind the bar, clean spot, a variety of beers on tap, and pretty swift service. Food was delicious. It's the standard bar fare, but the burgers and veggie sandwich were pretty good. Nothing extraordinary, but that's not what they're going for. Review for Billy's on Burnett TLDR: a perfectly above average dive bar For the food: I ordered Billy's "The Shults" burger. The wait time for the food was perfectly reasonable. The burger was well seasoned and well constructed. The only real complaint was the pickle on top was rather small and lackluster. The fries were fresh and crisp, and also well seasoned. For the drinks: Billy's offers a more than ample beer menu with the common stock, as well as a decent selection of local breweries. For the atmosphere: Billy's certainly fronts the image of a dive bar, and does so very well. Dimly lit, slightly crowded, and a prominent bar situated directly across the entrance all help establish the environment they want. The patio in the side is well shaded, and has much less road noise than I initially expected. The only complaint is the flies on the patio are out of control. For the value: Given the location, I can't really blame Billy's for the prices. I feel like I payed a bit more than what I would have wanted for what I got, however, that feeling isn't uncommon in Austin in general, and especially Burnet. Everything else: there's virtually no parking at Billy's, however there is some street parking within easy walking distance. And yet again, the flies on the patio are on another level. read more
