Bad news...this coffee company sells coffee by the pound not lattes (hence the name). Good news... they sell drip coffee for $2.00 + tax. What a deal! This family owned shop has been roasting beans locally since 1972 and focuses on helping customers brew excellent coffee at home rather than serving coffee drinks on premises. According to the store manager, Mr. Anderson occasionally comes into the store. The selection of freshly roasted beans is rather larger, with store favorites like Guatemala Antiqua, Dark Sumatra and Arabian Mocha cited as most popular. Coffee cost on average $19 per pound. In addition to coffee, the store carries loose leaf teas, mugs, candy, cards, coffee pot sweaters, brewing equipment, and small other gift items, to name just a few items. I was totally and completely enamored with this store. They had so many trinkets and interesting items, you literally could peruse for hours. Captivating environment...Loved it...

Located inside Austin Car Wash, it's a small, cozy, and highly welcoming spot. Their menu is excellent, featuring about six signature lattes, matcha, dirty chais, and cold brews. Since it was our first visit, the server patiently guided us through the options. I ordered the vanilla bean latte, and my husband got a matcha. Both drinks were absolutely perfect in taste and sweetness! There was a tiny mix-up where my husband received a regular matcha instead of the lavender matcha he ordered, but it tasted so good we didn't mind at all. Mistakes happen, and the great service more than made up for it.

But I tried my 3rd package of Little City coffee, (shipped from this address on their website) and though good coffee, it is simply not a dark enough roast for my espresso. I tried Messenger Espresso the first time, many months ago and was underwhelmed. The beans were just not dark enough, shiny enough nor oily enough for the sort of espresso shot I like to pull. They made perfectly passable drip coffee in a pour-over, but I am a 99% espresso guy. Recently I took advantage of a 20% discount and rapid delivery (next day! Arrived on Monday, ordered Sunday!) to try the two darkest roasts offered, Grackle and Republic. Again, passable drip coffees, but not able to produce the thick rich crema and distinctive oily mouthfeel and toasted flavor notes I was looking for. Great fast to the door delivery and good prices (though for a 12oz package, compare carefully) and as I noted, pretty good coffee, but I will return to the Italian espresso (occasionally mixed 75/25 with French Roast) from my usual roaster Anderson's to feed my Gaggia Classic Pro.

He gave us a Coffee 101 where we learned everything from the history all the way to how it reaches the end consumer. We learned about the different types and tastes of coffee at it's different stages. We were served many different brews from "defected" coffee beans up to some premium stuff so that we can get a taste for what good coffee should be like. Don't let the location fool you, when you walk into this warehouse looking shop, inside has some of the FINEST coffee you can buy. Joel's good buddies with all the best plantations and Brazil and prides himself on having first choice on all the BEST harvested coffees from these plantations. If you've had coffee at Spiderhouse, Uchi, Torchy's, and many other places around town, there's a good chance they're sources from Casa Brasil. Basically, if you like making coffee at home and not paying a premium for coffee at these shops/restaurants, you can order directly from Joel. They roast upon order so you definitely get the beans at it's freshest. The bags they come in are all hand-painted too. If you're not wanting to order from Joel or make a drive down south, you can find their coffee at your local Central Market. Bottom line, if you want the best quality coffee you can possibly find, go here.

But not so terrible that I would never come back. The staff is really nice and attentive, and they have delicious pastries near the front of the bar as well. There is plenty of seating and charging outlets so you can continue to use your computer, or tablet as needed. It's also in a really cool location with pretty art outside. My recommendation to the staff would be to amplify the syrup flavoring just a tiny bit more on their special drinks. Other than that things are great!

Their seasonal drinks were usually fun, the bottled horchata cold brew was great when they actually had it, and buying a quart of regular cold brew was convenient. I also remember them being one of the first places around here doing nitro cold brew. No pour overs, but the drip was solid enough when you wanted something hot. I still own a couple of their t-shirts, so clearly I liked the place. The issue is getting there. The lot is small, uneven, and full of bumps, rocks, and holes, which is not easy when you use a cane. They used to have a handicap space, but the line faded and the sign disappeared. I would drive by hoping for parking, but that intersection is not one I want to circle around more than once. Even going with my husband, it could still be awkward to get in from some spots. For me, it just stopped being worth the effort. These days I usually go to Dog Days instead. It is still a walk from the garage, but much easier to navigate.

On our way back home we stopped by their brick and mortar beyond excited. As you walk in the ambiance is quiet and calm. We ordered a strawberry matcha almond milk and iced americano. The pastries were not labeled so we asked about the doughnut and grabbed one. The strawberry matcha was okay. The matcha is overwhelmed by the strawberry and is lost in the experience. The iced americano I was shocked didn't have the defined flavor. It's also very subtle and the ice to water ratio with espresso not well crafted. I think Peaches Coffee has a vibe but not very welcoming. I follow them on Instagram and was just underwhelmed with the service, experience and drinks. I do recommend checking it out as maybe it was just an off day.
