Pretty much the entire store. At $9 a pound for everything, it's pretty fantastic.

Austin still promotes itself as the "Live Music Capital of the World," but I've been living here a while now, and I'll tell you exactly what we're good at: 1. Austin is the "Live Food Truck Capital of the World." 2. Austin is the "Live Whole Foods Capital of the World." 3. Austin is the "Live Texans-who-eat-BBQ-but-vote-Democrat Capital of the World." Oh yeah, and maybe one more: Austin is the "Live Coffee Roasting Capital of the World." Seattle & San Francisco may have more boutique roasters, but they're not capitals & grunge is so 1990. If you've had a really good cup of coffee from an Austin coffeehouse or hipster restaurant recently, it's probably from one of our own local roasters. You won't confuse their stuff with Folgers. And I'm starting to bore myself - the bottom line is Third Coast Coffee beans will cost you $11.99 for twelve ounces at Whole Foods or Central Market, but $9 for sixteen ounces at their South Congress roasting facility. For the exact same stuff. I think Forrest Gump once said, "I'm not a smart man, but I know what a good coffee deal is." They're open weekdays until 6, you won't go wrong with the Yirgacheffe, and I'm just a big fan of their Third Coast Blend & classic Double French. And while you're buying, you can enjoy a cup of whatever the staff's brewing. There's also a buck-off Yelp check-in coupon. Seriously, what gets better than that? Okay, maybe peas & carrots, lightly sautéed.

Best coffee in town. Run don't walk! I call in the morning and they always have my order ready to pickup in the afternoon.

Ask the Community - Third Coast Coffee Roasting Company

Are any of these medium-light or lights roasts?

They do have medium roast for sure, as I have purchased one. I am unsure about light roast.

But I tried my 3rd package of Little City coffee, (shipped from this address on their website) and though good coffee, it is simply not a dark enough roast for my espresso. I tried Messenger Espresso the first time, many months ago and was underwhelmed. The beans were just not dark enough, shiny enough nor oily enough for the sort of espresso shot I like to pull. They made perfectly passable drip coffee in a pour-over, but I am a 99% espresso guy. Recently I took advantage of a 20% discount and rapid delivery (next day! Arrived on Monday, ordered Sunday!) to try the two darkest roasts offered, Grackle and Republic. Again, passable drip coffees, but not able to produce the thick rich crema and distinctive oily mouthfeel and toasted flavor notes I was looking for. Great fast to the door delivery and good prices (though for a 12oz package, compare carefully) and as I noted, pretty good coffee, but I will return to the Italian espresso (occasionally mixed 75/25 with French Roast) from my usual roaster Anderson's to feed my Gaggia Classic Pro.

He gave us a Coffee 101 where we learned everything from the history all the way to how it reaches the end consumer. We learned about the different types and tastes of coffee at it's different stages. We were served many different brews from "defected" coffee beans up to some premium stuff so that we can get a taste for what good coffee should be like. Don't let the location fool you, when you walk into this warehouse looking shop, inside has some of the FINEST coffee you can buy. Joel's good buddies with all the best plantations and Brazil and prides himself on having first choice on all the BEST harvested coffees from these plantations. If you've had coffee at Spiderhouse, Uchi, Torchy's, and many other places around town, there's a good chance they're sources from Casa Brasil. Basically, if you like making coffee at home and not paying a premium for coffee at these shops/restaurants, you can order directly from Joel. They roast upon order so you definitely get the beans at it's freshest. The bags they come in are all hand-painted too. If you're not wanting to order from Joel or make a drive down south, you can find their coffee at your local Central Market. Bottom line, if you want the best quality coffee you can possibly find, go here.

Civil Goat is the genre of coffee shops that are secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So many shops in Austin are located in districts that are busy and buzzing. The original Civil Goat is quiet and peaceful through the trees. Upon arrival, it looks like there's only 3 parking spots, but as you keep driving, there's a whole lot behind the shop for parking. It's not super expansive, but at 9:30 am on a Wednesday, I had no issue finding a spot. They have a large covered patio and a small interior shop. They have QR codes on tables to order on your phone and stand up kiosks for to go orders as well. You can also order inside from the barista, but I got a feeling they just prefer you order from the kiosk... I ordered a lavender latte that was delightful and warm. Very balanced in its flavors. It was served in a cute seafoam mug. My friend ordered a cappuccino that was served in frankly a cuter cup, so I was immediately jealous. I also ordered one of their specialty sandwiches called the Cuerney Sam with bacon, egg, American cheese, hot sauce (Cholula), and honey on a croissant. It was $12 which would have me on here complaining about SandFlation, but it was a hearty size and very well done. Nothing overpowered anything else, so the sandwich lived in harmony. I decided to order a second coffee to go. I got their Coco Capp with brown sugar and coconut syrup. They offer alternative milks of oat and almond free of charge, which is a huge W and something I don't see anywhere. It's a little out of the way for me, so I don't know how soon I'll return, but it made a quality impact on me and was floor raiser for my day. Plus there were goats! RIYL: Very civilized goats. Like "mmm, yes very nice" type of civilized.

I ordered an iced cappuccino with oat milk and one pump of vanilla and two pumps of lavender, it was perfect! My friend ordered a regular cappuccino and it was so cute! Also, it's kind of sad that you can't order from a person only your phone or a kiosk. But overall a good experience.

I would have never thought about strawberry flavor in a latte - but glad I was feeling "adventurous" that day. Lol. It actually reminded me of when I was a kid and would make strawberry flavored milk with Hershey's strawberry syrup. So basically that plus cinnamon and coffee. Who knew?! Their seating area is very cute and they have outdoor tables as well. (It was too hot for outside but in the cooler season it would be a nice little local neighborhood spot to chill out in). The baristas were also very pleasant and friendly.
