Checked out this new coffee shop recently and overall had a good experience. Black Sheep Coffee, not to be confused with Black Fox Coffee across the street. The coffee was solid -- well-made, flavorful, and definitely worth trying if you're in the area. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall vibe. The only downside for me was the layout of the space. It felt a bit cramped, especially when there were more people inside, which made it harder to fully relax and enjoy the atmosphere. That said, the quality of the coffee and the friendliness of the staff would still make me come back again. Lastly, expect downtown prices and downtown parking. read more

Black Sheep Coffee has robusta coffee espresso. A shot of robusta espresso has 170mg of caffeine per one fluid ounce--a real punch in the mouth with caffeine, if you like that as much as I do. Robusta is coming up in the coffee world as producers are upgrading their product to compete with the predominate Arabica of the coffee market. Vietnamese coffee is predominantly Robusta, and Indonesian coffee is as well. It is darker, deeper, more chocolatey, and...well...more robust than Arabica. And unlike the myriad of coffee shops in Austin, the service is competent and obliging, and will help you make a selection. They know what they're doing, and don't bare their teeth at you as you shout over their pounding music--hello, Epoch! Finally someplace to differentiate between all the others: you can't throw a rock without hitting a coffee shop in Austin. read more

Ordered online and got the specialty banana latte pair with the waffle filled with biscoff cookie butter and grounded up biscoff cookie. Both were solid options. Liked that there was a 20 oz option for the latte, always a big plus! The waffle was overpriced for what it was (~$9). The spread was inconsistent, but loved the addition of the cookie crumbs. Probably wouldn't order again. Would come back in the future to try out other fun new specialty flavor coffees/lattes. read more

I work right across from the Downtown location. Sooo convenient. My first day there was on their grand opening. Love the setup with the option to order via the kiosk or at the counter. I chose the counter. I ordered a Turkey Bacon Egg and cheese on an Everything Bagel. I am not usually a fan of Turkey Bacon; however, this was really good, and the Bagel was toasted perfectly. I did not partake in a coffee libation this time and opted for a Coca-Cola. Loved the ambiance of this place. Very much a city vibe to it. Must give a shout out to Beatriz, Paige and Danielle for their excellent customer service. That's why I keep coming back :) read more

Saw that they had opened their location. It was quite busy. You walk in and it's kiosk ordering (there are 4 kiosks). Pretty easy system. Because of the windows and the sun it gets really hot in there so if you plan on meeting there for friends it could get toasty. I got a blueberry matcha. If you like NyQuil this is the drink for you (I wish I was kidding). I thought I was drinking matcha with cough syrup. The matcha was on the sweeter side and it was okay. Cool new spot in downtown Austin. Coffee is really good! Menu items are okay, not much variety. Side note to a rude worker: this girl seems to be working social media for black sheep coffee, took a table for herself (also why, there were stools available). It was freezing on Friday so we closed the door since the wind was directly to the stool area, this girl just stood up, opened the door and sat back down. No explanation, no nothing. I was pretty disappointed by this coffee shop downtown. I ordered the lychee matcha lemonade and a matcha waffle with banana and biscoff. The matcha was overly sweet and artificial tasting. The waffle was fine, but none of the matcha flavor came through. There are much better coffee shops downtown that I would recommend instead. read more

The service was cheerful and efficient. On different visits, I tried both a hot and an iced cold brew latte and an iced chai latte. All were smooth and robust, though the chai latte had way too much cinnamon (that I never requested). Their sausage and cheese muffin revealed itself to be more flavorful than the cardboard-like equivalent at Starbucks.Ordering may be done at the counter, by kiosk, or their mobile app. On one visit, the app couldn't connect and so offered me a QR code to use with the kiosk. Though I used that code with the kiosk order, it didn't sync to my account, so there seems to be some software bugs that hopefully will be addressed. A welcome improvement to the online ordering system would be to add a medium (or "kid's temperature") option for drink orders. I attended their soft openings earlier in the week and their grand opening on Thursday, January 15th, 2026. I also got the chance to chat with their co-founder. Black Sheep Coffee was founded by two friends who met in college in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. They opened up their first store in London a decade ago and now have over 130 locations worldwide, primarily in the UK, the Middle East, and the United States. Now based in the United States, this is the first Austin-based location for the privately-held company, which has a mix of corporate-owned and franchised locations. All in all, this seems like a welcome addition to the cafes in Austin. read more

I ordered a Sausage and Cheese English Muffin and it was so fresh and delicious. The Banana Latte however was the true show stopper! I was staying with my Step Mom and had to come down every single day and get a Banana Latte. When my Aunt and Uncle joined the vacation I got them hooked on the Banana Latte's too. For ordering ahead this place is very convenient if you're mid-commute. It's very sunny and hot but the functional drinks iced are delicious. The Strawberry Lions Mane Matcha was delicious and so was the Norwegian Waffle. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms and outlets to get work done. read more

Cool vibe when walking in store. 1st time to BSC and Danielle at the counter was very kind and upbeat to explain what they sell. Yes, they have kiosks to order, but love to get heads up 1st. It's a chilly day here so I sat at the window where the Texas sun was warming. Friendly passerbys had warm smiles and even customers inside. Sary at the counter paid particular attention to my order even repeating it back. I love when my order is repeated back to have it correct to perfection. The LG hot latte was wallah! I had the turkey, provolone, pesto sandwich served as warm like right off the grill. Mmmm. Not sure why it is called Black Sheep Coffee shop I will have to Google it and you should definitely too!
