    Cinnamon spice latte (8 oz)

We love the houndstooth chain so we always look forward to trying other locations. This was my first time at this location. On a weekday afternoon, I found street parking, the line was short, there was plenty of parking, and my cinnamon spice latte came out quickly. The latte was solid and environment was pretty quiet so I sipped in peace.

I had a wonderful seasonal latte with chocolate and strawberry with the most amazing latte art - complete with red powdered sugar. The vibe was modern and sleek and the price reasonable. The service was okay - would prefer a more cheerful barista who can explain the various coffee beans and the drink options available.

5/5 for vibes, 3/5 for tea (but who is ever really here for tea?) Worked remotely from here and it was a nice experience! Huge window walls, lots of natural lighting, ample seating. I didn't pay attention if there were adequate outlets, but I think there wasn't many. Overall, nice place to be at!

As I have been exploring all of the different coffee shops in Austin, I have come to realize that there are two types of coffee shops. The social coffee shops and the working coffee shop. Houndstooth is definitely a social coffee shop. First, the ambiance of the coffee shop is really nice and open. I love a modern classic coffee shop with a nice aesthetic so I appreciate that they have such a cute and simplistic vibe. The music was so good too. Usually I prefer when a coffee shop doesn't have music on super loud but I appreciated all of the music they were playing. Now, with that being said, they had NO outlets. I had come to study and get work done but unfortunately I wasn't able to get much done cause my computer died and there was no plugs. After 6pm they turn off the lights and turn up the music too. I had a regular hot latte with white chocolate syrup and their holiday foam and it was absolutely delicious! They have so many drink options and they also have a bar if your would rather have an alcoholic beverage. Overall I would come back to catch up with friends and if i'm in the area but I would not come back to study.

A friend moved right next door so I was excited to hopefully get a new neighborhood coffee place. My coffee has always been good. But there's a couple things that take away from a better experience. They don't have any coconut milk or heavy cream. It just seems weird- those are pretty standard coffee add ins. The other is the fact when you pay, you can't touch the credit card screen. So the cashier turns it around and says, loudly, in this very small space with people standing in line listening "do you want to tip". So not only do you have to bc who wants the be THAT guy, but then you have to give an amount and again, who wants to be THAT GUY? I'm all for tipping but I do it because I want to- not because I'm weirdly shamed to. And I get it, it's covid but all other places simply wipe a screen or use paper receipts to write a tip in. Also, an iced coffee and a vanilla latte somehow cost $11, which is appalling.

Visited Houndstooth for some remote work during our visit to Austin. Enjoyed the coffee from Houndstooth. They had breakfast tacos and a small pastry selection. We were close enough to walk, but it doesn't appear that parking is easy in the area. Three stars because, while it appears to be a great location for working remotely, there are no outlets to charge a laptop. We found out the hard way when our laptops alerted us the battery was low. A lot of other reviews mention it as well, but I haven't looked ahead unfortunately. Maybe to save on their electric bill? Maybe to discourage people from staying seated all day? Who knows, but I would have appreciated a heads up there were no outlets when we asked for the Wi-Fi password.

The coffee is really good and the place looks really nice. There isn't that many people so it makes a good study spot. The worker was also super nice and was able to recommend drinks well as it was my first time there. I think the coffee was a bit bitter at first but the worker added some more syrup when I told her!

Visiting Austin & staying down the street walking distance from our Airbnb. Decided to try out Houndstooth for some early morning coffee, and we're glad we did! I got a vanilla latte & my husband a honey-lavender latte. It was our quickly & we were greeted & helped by friendly staff. We didn't get breakfast but I saw they had breakfast tacos & some yummy looking pastries. It was nice & clean inside & super pet-friendly. I took a long look at their Polaroid wall of fur babies- so cute!!

Houndstooth Coffee was the perfect after dinner pick me up! We needed a quick, late night caffeine fix before driving back to Houston, Texas, and we got that and more. Coming here on a Saturday night, we happened to come in during Vinyl Funk and Soul Night with DJ Champale. There was great music playing, lights to add ambiance, and a chill crowd enjoying the night. I decided to try their chai latte, but I made it "dirty" by adding a shot of espresso, and my friend tried their Japanese iced coffee. The drinks came out great, the coffee was high quality, and we loved how they stayed open late compared to other coffee shops. If we weren't driving back to Houston, we would have tried one of their champagne cocktails like the "Soul 75" or "Lil' Deuce Coupe." Till next time Houndstooth Coffee, we'll be back in Austin for you soon!

While exploring the many museums across the University of Texas campus, a quick caffeine break was needed for my girlfriend and we were overwhelmed by the number of options on The Drag. It makes sense that there are plenty of places to choose from because of the large number of UT students. Everyone needs a little coffee in their lives. One of the highest reviewed ones with a large pool of ratings was Lucky Lab Coffee and after checking a few quick reviews, we decided to give it a chance. Lucky Lab has five locations in Austin (four on campus) and one location in Dripping Springs. The one we were at off The Drag was their flagship. This location serves a little bit of everything from sandwiches to pastries, salad to quiche, and of course, coffee. As we walked inside the flagship, it is easy to notice how tight the space is. There is very little seating inside at their bar, but they make up for it with plenty of shaded outdoor space that is perfect for a nice day. Scanning their menu, we landed on some drinks from their winter menu. I was intrigued by their Pomegranate Rosemary Latte while my girlfriend tried their Ginger Spice Mocha. We got them both iced. First, it is interesting to see the fusion of pomegranate and rosemary in a latte. I was intrigued by those flavors. Their drink sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz, each adding an additional 50 cents to each upgrade. All milk alternatives cost 1 dollar. It was only a short wait to get our coffees and the cup with the little lab on it was cute. I think specialty drinks have an opportunity to be amazing and one of a kind or the worst drink imaginable. This pomegranate rosemary latte did not fall into either category exactly, but leaned more toward the latter. I love pomegranates and I always appreciate how earthy rosemary can be in a coffee. One of my favorite lattes I have ever had has rosemary in it. This was just not working for me. I shamefully did not finish my coffee. As for my girlfriend, she did not like her ginger spice mocha. I could not imagine gingerbread syrup not working in a mocha, but after trying it myself it was not for me either. It seems like a perfect match, but here the gingerbread is competing with the chocolate and instead of complementing each other they clash. She told me that the flavors were "un-mocha like". She drank less than half of her coffee before tossing it as well. Neither of us wanted to dislike Lucky Lab. They seem well established and I felt like they were trustworthy based on reviews, but I wonder what these previous reviewers were tweaking on or what magical concoction of coffee granted from heaven above they were sipping on because we were distraught by how disappointing these drinks were. I would like to give Lucky Lab Coffee Co the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the specialty drinks were not up to par with their traditional beverages. However, the almost 30 different syrup options on their wall make me feel they lack a little focus and try too hard to stand out. They lose what makes a coffee good, which is coffee. I want to say I will give them a second shot in the future to see if it was just an off day or a bad beverage pick. Too many shots turns a Lucky Lab into Old Yeller. The lab needs to be put on a leash before I think about returning. RIYL: options

We've been wanting to check out this shop for quite sometime and finally had the chance. From the minute we walked in the door the vibe was on! Our barista, Litsa was incredible! She was fun and bouncy and had so much positive energy. She even helped me create a concoction of sorts. Like most, lavender is my go-to. But, I also wanted toasted marshmallow and so I was torn. She suggested a combo of the two for my cappuccino (with oat milk of course). Wow! It was spectacular. I was so beyond miserable when I walked in the door (the rain) and she turned things around for me within 30 seconds of interacting. Her positivity and kindness were through the roof! My cappuccino concoction...so good I think it should be a menu feature! The banana guard iced latte my boyfriend got was equally as delicious. It was like an ice cream treat for grown-ups. Everything about the shop is so welcoming. Warm lighting, comfortable seating, and spacious. So much for the eye to take in as they have offerings from local artists and craftspeople for sale. A mini store if you will. All lined neatly on wall hanging shelves. They've got candles, pottery, jewelry, clothing, etc. All the goodies you'd expect to find at a gift and craft, artisan shop. Fitting since the drinks they put out are liquid art. Since it's about a ten-minute walk from home, it'll definitely be a new stop when going to the pet store. Wonderful experience on a dreary day.

The featured coffees here are roasted by their own RCB Roasters, and my selection was their Ethiopian Guji, promising some nice acidity and brightness from its lighter leaning roast profile. The coffee "space" is compact here, but they're using good gear and seem to have the staff to use it well. My espresso was served with sparking water, and was just as I'd hoped, a bright cup with citrus acidity that was well structured, but not overly acidic or bitter at all. It was a winner all around. And let's just say I'm on board with what others have said. I have tried the burgers, fries, sweets/pastries, and of course the drinks. My favorite of all these is a brisket sandwich with their fries! The brisket itself has an amazing sauce which I heard is made in house. This sauce is also used on the burgers and if you order either with their amazingly seasoned fries you won't be disappointed! As for drinks, I loved the Mexicano latte, that's my personal favorite. The spices and the espresso is well balanced and is my go to drink. That said, it is my favorite. They also have a caramel latte, but it is on the sweeter side. It's good, but sweeter than my liking. As for any pastries you get, I tried some of their fan favorite which include the honey cake and wow! As a baker myself, I quite enjoyed this cake since it was moist and the frosting itself was the perfect consistency and texture. It was also not too sweet and not overly powerful, but added what it needed to the cake. Anyways, I come here often, and would recommend to those looking for a sweet spot to enjoy with family.
