In the true anthony bourdain spirit, I will give an honest review. I went here with my family over the weekend and the food was just meh. The chicken was cooked to perfection but that was the only thing we truly enjoyed. The biscuit was seemingly made in a sheet and cut. Even when we ordered a side it was split in half, so you never really got that satisfying bite of biscuit with the flaky top. Everything we had (the badass bacon and eggs, brisket breakfast sandwich, chicken sandwich, chicken and biscuit sandwich, and biscuits and gravy) were okay but not super. I was disappointed in the gravy which was just a little odd. The side of red potatoes was interesting but not our favorite. No hate to the place, just not at all what I was expecting. My traveling partner got the Bacon Basil Tomato omelet with smoked cheddar and garlic aioli. We also got an order of ricotta pancakes with strawberries. My eggs Benedict was served on a unique bread - not a traditional English muffin - that kind of fell apart as I ate it. The flavor was great though. Phoebe Diner was a good experience overall. The biscuit and gravy were okay, but I felt it needed more gravy because the biscuit tasted a little dry when combined with everything. Back again for another year for formula 1 and phoebe's didn't disappoint. I opted for Uber Eats this time to maximize time at the track but the food was still amazing. I ordered on two separate occasions for breakfast. The first day I ordered badass bacon and breakfast burrito. The brisket benny was very disappointing. The hash brown casserole was terrible. It had zero flavor. It was a ball of mush. The brisket was good! It carried the plate. However, the biscuit really brought the overall dish down. It was my least favorite Benedict dish that I've had, personally. What a nice surprise! This was our first visit to Phoebe's and we were impressed! I expected it to be a greasy diner, but ths was really good breakfast. We found parking in the lot, but they do offer valet. We put our name in and waited about 15 minutes before being seated on the patio. Even though it's hot out, the patio stays comfortable with the shades and fans. I had the famous crab cake benedict: (GF) 2 crispy lump crab cakes, poached eggs, hollandaise, green onion, sauteed asparagus, and my fiance had the brisket benny: Chopped BBQ brisket, buttermilk biscuits, over easy eggs, hollandaise, and BBQ sauce. When I first saw my mozzarella omelette I was a little surprised! It didn't look anything like what it was described as! Oh well! I thought. Let's give it a try! My taste buds were happily amazed! Could this omelette smothered in mushroom gravy, green "pesto" and bread crumbs be the best omelette I've ever had?! The mushroom tomato gravy was so smooth! Along with the cilantro avocado topping. That tasted more like pesto, gave it the perfect zing! I had wished I the had ordered some toast to dip in the sauce. I could have done without the bread crumbs. The asparagus was seasoned so well that my boyfriend discovered he really likes asparagus. He devoured his chicken friend ribeye. I ordered the migas, and the amount of onions in the dish was overwhelming--so much so that it felt like I had ordered a plate of onions rather than migas. The chicken was seasoned but still missing something. I wish they'd also maybe cooked it just a little longer. The breading looked perfectly cooked but tasted like it needed a little more time. When I placed my order I called the store to ask if they could not put cheese on either of the meals. The nice host who answered the phone said of course. Needless to say, although "no cheese" was written on my receipt, there was still cheese on both. On the first one, I was able to get most of the egg separated from the cheese. The taste was basic, would have been better if I could have had it with the biscuit. Couldn't taste the first biscuit bc the cheese was melted on. Luckily, on the second one, I was able to just take the cheese off, sacrificing bits on the biscuit lol. The potatoes were basic. They had little to no seasoning. The Jam! The ambiance was nice and casual - it's like an up scale diner. The bacon was thicc and melt-in-your-mouth status. The Cheeky Monkey was not our favorite item, but it was unique. My husband got the shrimp and grits and said it was "delightful". I'm not sure that I've heard him use that word to describe a dish before. It's 2 huge slices of bananas bread topped with bourbon sauce, whipped cream, and bananas. So decadent, so delicious. First and foremost, the service here is great! Everyone we encountered was super kind which definitely added to the experience. The inside is cute and bright, accompanied by quotes from ever popular cooks about what constitutes good food, you certainly feel welcome. As for the food, it was just ok. Much of what we got all tasted really similar despite having a variety of ingredients. I think like many places, trying to hard a brunch is making things worse than better. Adding too many popularized ingredients to one dish makes something sound over the top, but fails to hit any specific spot. My husband and I came in today and the service was phenomenal, as was the food! My husband got the Brisket Burrito... and it is life changing -- it is now a favorite and a pregnancy craving. Their fried chicken sandwich was audibly crisp with fresh tomato and lettuce that I made two meals out of. The trick as it turned out, was to get on their waitlist first thing in the am via using their website and then let them know you're already on the waitlist whenever you arrive. The cornbread came with butter, apple butter, and a spicy jam. . The grits were creamy and cheesy. The chicken was fired to perfection and tasted amazing with a little syrup poured on it. My daughter loved the shrimp!!! The biscuit was a tad bit dry though. Overall, we throughly enjoyed our brunch. They have your typical diner seating of booths and a few small tables and a small area of patio seating. All the more reason to jump on the website and get on the waitlist far in advance of arriving.
