Their fried chicken sandwich was audibly crisp with fresh tomato and lettuce that I made two meals out of. To end the perfect meal... my husband actually coordinated with staff to create "Gender Reveal" pancakes! I didn't realize what they were until I got to the yummy surprise! Their cream is delicious! My first experience here was amazing, which is why I was excited to come back for breakfast. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. I ordered the migas, and the amount of onions in the dish was overwhelming--so much so that it felt like I had ordered a plate of onions rather than migas. The masa cakes were definitely the standout item and were absolutely delicious. However, the rest of the dish fell short. The sauce was extremely rich, making it difficult to enjoy or finish the meal. That said, the restaurant itself is adorable, and our waiter was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were both great. The cornbread muffins are a MUST for cornbread lovers!! They were tasty, soft, and the jellies/butter that it came with were also yummy. Surprisingly, it was my favorite dish because ... The brisket benny was very disappointing. The hash brown casserole was terrible. It had zero flavor. It was a ball of mush. The brisket was good! It carried the plate. However, the biscuit really brought the overall dish down. It was my least favorite Benedict dish that I've had, personally. Nevertheless, because the cornbread muffins and brisket were good, I would certainly go back! What a nice surprise! This was our first visit to Phoebe's and we were impressed! I expected it to be a greasy diner, but ths was really good breakfast. We found parking in the lot, but they do offer valet. We put our name in and waited about 15 minutes before being seated on the patio. Even though it's hot out, the patio stays comfortable with the shades and fans. I had the famous crab cake benedict: (GF) 2 crispy lump crab cakes, poached eggs, hollandaise, green onion, sauteed asparagus, and my fiance had the brisket benny: Chopped BBQ brisket, buttermilk biscuits, over easy eggs, hollandaise, and BBQ sauce. When I first saw my mozzarella omelette I was a little surprised! It didn't look anything like what it was described as! Oh well! I thought. Let's give it a try! My taste buds were happily amazed! Could this omelette smothered in mushroom gravy, green "pesto" and bread crumbs be the best omelette I've ever had?! The mushroom tomato gravy was so smooth! Along with the cilantro avocado topping. The place is really cute and the customer service was 5/5. I got the Chile Relleno w/ green chorizo with fruit. This was really different but a good different. Scrabbled eggs stuffed in there and fried. Everything worked really well with each other but I could have shared this plate with someone. Those potatoes were delicious and the perfect amount of crispy. Chicken Fried Ribeye with hashbrown casserole. The asparagus was seasoned so well that my boyfriend discovered he really likes asparagus. He devoured his chicken friend ribeye. The biscuits and gravy were ok but it's not something that we would order again. We wanted to try it out to see if we would like it but it's a no for us. I want to start by saying this was an Uber Eats order, so my experience may have been a tad different if I'd been there in person. I ordered 2 Chicken Biscuits. It typically comes with a fried chicken breast on top of an egg, cheese, and a biscuit. It also has potatoes and some type of jalapeño jam on the side. The chicken was seasoned but still missing something. I wish they'd also maybe cooked it just a little longer. The breading looked perfectly cooked but tasted like it needed a little more time. When I placed my order I called the store to ask if they could not put cheese on either of the meals. The nice host who answered the phone said of course. Needless to say, although "no cheese" was written on my receipt, there was still cheese on both. On the first one, I was able to get most of the egg separated from the cheese. The taste was basic, would have been better if I could have had it with the biscuit. Couldn't taste the first biscuit bc the cheese was melted on. Luckily, on the second one, I was able to just take the cheese off, sacrificing bits on the biscuit lol. The potatoes were basic. They had little to no seasoning. The Jam! It was definitely a saving grace for everything. It was kinda similar to chutney. I tasted it with each item and it definitely made it better. Is this a place I'll eat regularly, probably not. I was in town on a business trip and needed a real breakfast before a full day of work . . . none of that hotel continental crap. Went straight for the Brisket Benny... house cured ham swapped for smoked brisket, over easy eggs, hollandaise, the whole situation. It just worked. Coffee stayed hot too, which is a minor miracle in most diners. Service was friendly without being in your face about it. Walked out of there well fed for under $20 solo, which in Austin these days is practically a steal. Is it the most life-changing breakfast you'll ever have? Nahhh... but that's not the point. The point is it's good, it's consistent, and it's exactly what you need when you're flying solo in a city that can't stop patting itself on the back. I'll be back next trip. French toast is massive so tool 1/2 home, nice and crispy and soft center. The Badass bacon and eggs was simple yet good. The hash brown casserole was great at first but then become kinda bland. The eggs tasted a lot like the casserole sooooo maybe next time I'll do over easy eggs. Bacon nice and crispy just how I like. Coffee was also good and service was great. Came here on a saturday about an hour and half to closing. We had to wait a few mins for a table. The parking outside is really small. Once seated our server was friendly. The ambiance was nice and casual - it's like an up scale diner. The bacon was thicc and melt-in-your-mouth status. The Cheeky Monkey was not our favorite item, but it was unique. My husband got the shrimp and grits and said it was "delightful". I'm not sure that I've heard him use that word to describe a dish before. Was warned about the wait but there was maybe just a 10 minute wait for a table for 3 on a Sunday morning. The ambiance inside is very youthful while giving classic diner vibes. It's 2 huge slices of bananas bread topped with bourbon sauce, whipped cream, and bananas. So decadent, so delicious. Got the slab of bacon à la carte - it's a magical mystery how the bacon is so thick and delicious. I couldn't finish this plate, but my stomach is so happy. On a busy Easter Sunday, I was very pleased to be seated almost immediately. The trick as it turned out, was to get on their waitlist first thing in the am via using their website and then let them know you're already on the waitlist whenever you arrive. Needless to say, the service was excellent. We tried a plethora of food. Pancakes, chicken, shrimp, cornbread, hash potatoes, grits, fries, biscuits. Everything was amazing. The cornbread came with butter, apple butter, and a spicy jam. . The grits were creamy and cheesy. The chicken was fired to perfection and tasted amazing with a little syrup poured on it. My daughter loved the shrimp!!! The biscuit was a tad bit dry though. Overall, we throughly enjoyed our brunch. They have your typical diner seating of booths and a few small tables and a small area of patio seating. All the more reason to jump on the website and get on the waitlist far in advance of arriving. First and foremost, the service here is great! Everyone we encountered was super kind which definitely added to the experience. The inside is cute and bright, accompanied by quotes from ever popular cooks about what constitutes good food, you certainly feel welcome. As for the food, it was just ok. Much of what we got all tasted really similar despite having a variety of ingredients. I think like many places, trying to hard a brunch is making things worse than better. Adding too many popularized ingredients to one dish makes something sound over the top, but fails to hit any specific spot. Not that it was bad, perhaps I would order something simpler next time though. Drinks were fantastic! A good selection of specialty cocktails that all were delicious and worth the price. The menu has everything you'd expect and the space was very clean and welcoming. Wooden booths and poster of ACL's past round out the interior design. Service was friendly and helpful. It's what you expect in a diner as far as I'm worried. Everything came out quickly and hot. I got the green chorizo hash, and thought the combination of ingredients and flavors was terrific. The textures ended up being one note, I feel like the choice to not use fried or crispy sweet potato made the whole dish mushy. Complimentary valet parking is available; spaces are limited as is seating. I saw lots of to go orders which has designated parking. Four booths line the way and tables are scattered around the small dining area. Service was quick and efficient; several employees checked on us throughout our meal. I ate here this past Friday to catch up with a college classmate. It's quite an unassuming storefront next to a gas station, but inside this "hidden gem" you'll find delicious brunch. The dining room & outdoor patio were both almost full. The bar seats were all vacant. I got a Vietnamese iced coffee and BST omelet. We went in on a Sunday at around 2 PM. The service was excellent everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was great! There is a parking lot but it has very limited spots. We didnt have an issue getting parking spot in the lot at 2PM on a Sunday. There is indoor and outdoor seating and there is also a bar seating area. I can see it filling up quickly during the busier hours. We ordered the Fried Chicken and Biscuit, The Migas (The migas dont have chips in them) but were still delicious, buttermilk flapjacks with strawberries and in-house made whipped cream, and the banana foster French toast (banana bread topped with bananas, whipped cream, pecans, and bourbon caramel) Very delicious. My mom and I came into town to tour UT Austin and decided to stop here for breakfast. I found this spot through Yelp and the reviews were great. Luckily, we arrived around 9 am before the morning rush and were seated right away. The staff were really friendly, and the restaurant had a warm, well-decorated atmosphere. Unfortunately, I think the food itself could use some improvement. I have a habit of ordering Fried Green Tomatoes whenever I see them on a menu, and this time was no different. Sadly, these were disappointing. The tomatoes were very hard, and the breading felt heavy. The flavor was there, but it was tough to enjoy because of the texture of both the tomato and the fry. This same issue carried over into our entrées. We ordered the Fried Chicken Biscuit and the Fried Chicken & Grits. The Fried Chicken Biscuit wasn't bad, but it was very heavy and tiring to eat. The red potatoes on the side were forgettable, and the buttermilk biscuit turned soggy under the smoked cheddar cheese and over-easy eggs. While the chicken itself was crispy and cooked well, it had a thick layer of breading. The hatch chile jam helped cut through it a little, but overall it still felt unbalanced. The Fried Chicken & Grits came with the same chicken, though I'll give credit for the generous portion of two chicken breasts. However, the goat cheese grits were a letdown. They were pasty, overly thick, and dominated by a strong goat cheese flavor that overwhelmed everything else.
