This place has been on my list ever since it opened and I finally made it out! I was so excited to try everything. I like everything on my breakfast sandwich, the egg was cooked perfectly and the sausage was very flavorful, the honey mustard sauce really brought it to the next level. I was disappointed in the english muffin itself, I wish it was fluffier. The pancake was huge and I was so excited. Unfortunately it didn't hit. I can't really explain what it did taste like but I know it was missing that "buttermilk" flavor and the texture was off. I really like the aesthetic but I will say I felt super close to the other tables. The service was nice and we were seated prompted at our reservation at 10 on a Saturday. Definitely make a reservation or you'll be waiting. Parking is very limited. like 5 spots right in front but I was able to find free street parking just off on w side street.
Brunch was diner style obviously, waiter was super friendly and attentive and it's a nice place to have long chats or short chats with the buzz from people's voices serving as the perfect background to talk anything and with anyone
I went in on a Sunday morning around 9:30 AM and It was already really busy. Since I was alone I Was able to get a seat pretty quickly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the strawberry pancake, Hashbrown, and Scrambled Eggs. There are a few parking spots right in next to the entrance and some additional parking in on College Ave and Barlette St. The customer service was excellent.
The food is ABSOLUTELY delicious, the service is great, the ambiance of this little diner is fantastic. However, there were so many flies in there. Just at our booth about 8 flying all around us. The floor was also dirty and definitely needs a good mop. French toast, lightly crispy on the outside, warm and soft inside. The hint of the lemon is a great touch. Pancakes are huge, batter itself is amazing and flavorful. We got bananas and strawberries in it. I think it would be better with just the fresh fruit on top. Bacon is cooked perfectly. Sourdough toast with their fresh made berry jam - OUTSTANDING. Then the French omelette, lighter fair, comes with a salad.
This is a cute breakfast place in downtown Austin. This eatery has free private parking. The ambiance is your old school home feel. Plates make me think of the 70s. Food was good! I had their special which was a tiramisu pancake. One pancake is a very generous size! I can totally feed 2 people. Service was amazing and staff was friendly!

The servers were phenomenal, the food was delicious, and sitting in the shade even on a hot Austin September day, the fans kept the air moving. Five stars!
This place is amazing from walking up. It's a cute, definitely old school vibe when you walk in. Staff greeted us at the door and our witness was friendly and very polite. The food was absolutely delicious and amazing. The banana pancakes....i didn't need syrup. The flavor was just perfect. Apple crumble (pancake of the month) tasted just like its name. And we never seen hash browns in squares like that (not greasy)......overall definitely coming back!!
Stopped by with my wife and daughter a few days ago. We weren't sure what to expect, Austin kind of has this grungy vibe to it, but this place met and exceeded expectations. Tons of character, quirky but not cliche or tacky. Very very good service, and super clean restrooms. Now to the food, I had the blue plate special, a breakfast burrito that was exquisite. My wife had the monte Christo and she loved it. My daughter had eggs and bacon with a side of hash browns and it was very fresh and tasty. We added on a pancake of the month, it was a cheesecake strawberry pancake that brought just enough decadence to hit the spot but not create a sugar overload. Definitely recommend. Good luck with parking though.
Had breakfast at Toasty Badger in Austin on my recent foodie trip and it was like I walked into a 70s diner, I loved the vintage decor. They serve up classic American comfort food for breakfast and brunch and they do it to perfection. Service was great and everything came out just right. I ordered a Classic 2 Egg Brekky with two eggs over easy, homemade hash browns, and their grilled biscuit with poblano and guajillo sausage gravy. I also had to add one of their big pancakes on the side. I love a good classic pancake and I have to give them credit for having peanut butter. Peanut butter with syrup on a pancake is my favorite way to eat one and it was the perfect add to my breakfast. I would highly recommend making a reservation because this place stays busy. Once you eat here you will understand why. I will definitely be back on a future trip.
TLDR: good service, food is fine, parking is hard to come by I met a friend for breakfast here. There was 1 spot left in the lot (there are only about 6 spots in total) and it was really tight. There is a sign that says there is neighborhood parking somewhere behind the place, but I was able to squeeze into the last spot. I was immediately served coffee, which was nice, and the menu was short but had some goodies. I ended up going with the avocado toast with a poached egg, and my friend got the breakfast sando. We split an order of the pancakes with chocolate chips, which were tasty. We ended up having plenty left over to take home. The place looks like a retro diner inside, which creates a cute vibe. I don't think the food is out of this world, and the parking is really disappointing, which is why I am taking off a star. Also, the tables are really close together, which is uncomfortable. But, the service was attentive and friendly!

I wish I could visit The Toasty Badger every week. So fresh, so delicious, one of too breakfast spots in Austin. I decided to start my day on a high note and took myself to breakfast at The Toasty. I had a nice seat along the windows where I could watch the morning bustle on South Congress. I went for the Classic 2 Egg Brekky with ham, a griddle cake on the side, and fresh OJ. This is my perfect breakfast. The scrambled eggs? Light and airy. The ham with the griddle marks? That's the only way it should be served. The thick toast that's beautifully toasted on the outside and soft on the inside, with the seasonal jam? Yes please. The hash brown lego that's crusty on the outside with soft shreds of potato inside? I want to dip you like a French toast stick into my ketchup. The plate sized pillowy perfectly cooked lightly sweet griddle cake? A non-negotiable. Fresh OJ? Yum. Service was awesome. The vibes were great. Parking is tough though I'm not gonna lie, but that's Austin for you. Even on a Thursday at 10:30am it was tough. Is it worth the hassle? YES.

The Toasty Badger is everything I dream of in a diner. Plenty of room, charming decor, the kindest staff, and breakfast so enjoyable I wish I had found it earlier in my trip. Special shout out to Alanis for being the absolute best. Despite running a million miles a minute with a giant smile on her face, she had time to make recommendations, check in, and make me feel like I was a returning local. I'm not joking when I say that she was 60-70% of the reason I came back the next day. Don't get me wrong, the food is PHENOMENAL but the experience was even better. Parking is somewhat limited in the parking lot, however there's plenty of street parking just south on College and Oltorf. The griddle cakes were GIANT. I typically have no problem conquering any breakfast plate but this....well, everything is bigger in Texas as they say. If you're a solo traveler, order a single and ask about their seasonal. They had a baked apple seasonal option while I was there and it was amazing. Traditional breakfasts are also delicious and far more manageable. Coffee was never ending and flavorful, not "diner coffee". I'll gladly come back the next time I'm in town. read more

It was a wait and even with reservations so ensure you picked in or out during reservation as it's hot outside during the day. Was old school diner feel which was great and was packed! Service was so friendly and while there was a wait I didn't mind as I loved the social time and food was so worth it Eggs were fluffy, sausage was fresh and sourdough was large. Also hashbrowns were delicious. Definitely get pancakes and be prepared to share. read more

This is a small brunch spot where they really maximize their seating in the limited space they have. Most of the seating is on the outdoor patio. There was about a 20 minute wait on a Saturday at 11am, and they offered us water while we waited. We found some neighbourhood parking and walked a few minutes as there are only a few spots in the restaurant lot. We got the breakfast sandwich, caramel apple pecan pancake, and I had a mimosa. The breakfast sandwich was smaller than I would have liked, but it was very good. The hash brown in a block was surprisingly tasty. The pancake was decent and fluffy. The mimosa was more sour than I would have liked and overpriced compared to others in Austin. After we paid, we asked the server for a takeout container, and she never came back. We eventually just asked for one inside as she definitely forgot about us. We were entertained by a trash-carrying bug that kept making its way up and down the railing next to us. read more

Stopped into Toasty Badger for an early breakfast and it was such a charming spot. Nick greeted us with a warm welcome and Sabrina was the sweetest server. I had the 2 eggs brekky with ham, my husband had the ham and eggs, and we shared the pancake of the month, which was the orange creamsicle pancake and it was so good. Parking is a little tight right by the restaurant, but there's street parking nearby. Cute place, great service, and I'd definitely come back! read more

The reels don't disappoint. The Toasty Badger is a solid five stars if I could I would give it 10! We ordered the traditional breakfast two eggs, hash browns, sausage patty and sourdough bread. With two griddle cakes chocolate chip and blueberry. The griddle cakes were the star, the moon and the sun. Every bite was soft, fluffy and vanillas flavored with just the right crisp. Now I would say no matter if chocolate chip or blueberry the griddle cake will hit. The eggs were perfectly cooks, hash browns crispy and cubed. Yes cubed. The sausage patty was so yummy. The sourdough bread though was perfection. Crisped, buttered and flavorful. Take the crew order something different and share! I can't wait to go back and try the French toast. Toasty Badger is filled with nostalgia and just good vibes. Everyone was so nice, kind and genuinely in a great mood. We sat inside but if it's beautiful when you visit sit outside. read more
The pancakes there are amazing!! The servers tell everyone that they have to get a pancake for the table, definitely get one! They have plain or several flavors and we got the blueberry. The omelette was also very good. You get a refill of cold brew coffee which is usually rare at restaurants. Very good service. They are very busy on the weekends so I would definitely get a reservation and still be prepared to wait. My only complaint is that the patio doesn't have a ton of shade so we had to sit mostly in the sun. read more

The food at Toasty Badger was excellent and definitely the highlight of our visit! Our server behind the bar was also incredibly kind and clearly working very hard despite how busy it was. However, I was disappointed with the reservation process. I made a reservation on Wednesday for Sunday at 11:00 a.m., but we weren't seated until about 11:15. When we were finally seated, it was at the bar. I had assumed that making a reservation meant we would have a table, and I wasn't aware that I needed to specifically request one. When I went back to the host stand to ask, I was told my reservation was listed as a bar reservation on their end, and that the only table available would require another 20-minute wait outside. My suggestion would be for the restaurant to make it much clearer during the reservation process that guests need to specify if they want a table instead of bar seating. That would help avoid confusion and set the right expectations. Overall, the food and service were great, but the reservation experience could definitely be improved. read more
I met my friend for brunch and I really love the cozy space inside. Definitely limited seating inside and outside but it wasn't busy when we went. I ordered the French omelette and my friend ordered the pancakes. The pancakes were a large portion and the omelette was good. The Toasty Badger in Austin is an absolute gem--steeped in charm and full of nostalgic flair that gave the whole experience a unique and cozy vibe. We made a reservation and were seated right away, which we appreciated. Our server was friendly, and knowledgeable. One thing that really stood out was when he mentioned how much he genuinely loved working there which spoke volumes to me. Our food arrived quickly and was cooked exactly to our liking. The bacon was perfectly crispy, the sourdough toast and eggs were spot-on, and our coffee mugs were never empty. And let me just say--the hashbrowns were absolutely heavenly. Lightly crisped on the outside and tender inside, they were a standout on an already stellar plate. The space itself is on the smaller side and can get a bit noisy, so we asked to move out to the patio, which turned out to be a great choice . All in all, a wonderful experience from start to finish. I'm already looking forward to going back. read more

This is by far my favourite brunch spot in Austin with the best eggs Benedict by a mile, with gluten free options it's a small intimate cosy place. The staff are lovely and the food is super tasty. With lots of teas and coffee and fresh local coffee shop you really should go here read more

Who wouldn't give this place 5 stars?! The food here is delicious!! All your favorite breakfast dishes just better. The portion sizes are very generous so come prepared to eat! The service is friendly, but the building is tiny. Be prepared to wait... Because there is always a wait. But I promise it will be worth it! I will be back. read more

Let me just start off with saying that if you are craving a classic brunch diner, this is your spot. After a few failed attempts to grab brunch at some other places in South Austin I landed here (so glad I did). - I got the egg/sausage/hashbrown sandwhich on a brioche bun (I forgot the name but it was on the special menu). This breakfast sandwhich blew my mind! While it seemed like a simple dish, the flavors were rich, savory & cheesy! If it's still on the menu I would definitely rec this, if you're wanting something filling and decadent. - The french toast was also one of the most decorated french toast plates I've ever seen & it all paired so well. Surprisingly it was not too sweet and had a great mix of sweet, tart, and crunch from the candied nuts (I would literally stop by just to order this alone). - The avocado toast was just OK, it was something that had to be eaten fast otherwise the toast got soggy pretty quickly The interior design gives a nostalgic breakfast diner feel. There's covered outdoor patio seating which I thought was a nice add-on. indoor seating is a bit limited and can be a little stuffy to get around the tables. The food came out quickly after ordering and suggestions/patience from the waiter were appreciated. read more
