A normal day of the week (even a weekend) FF is a 5. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The beer is good, the staff is friendly, the pizza is tasty (not my fav in town but it's up there), and I love the two level outdoor area, plus its family friendly and has a playground which is fantastic when we are hanging out with friends who have kids.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, be wary of attending events here! We've been a couple of times now, both with live music, the latest during SXSW, when its just a shit show.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their parking is a little limited, now they have 2 lots which is usually fine for normal days but it's not nearly enough when they have an event going on. There are people parked on the gravel past the actual parking lot and both times we got to watch someone spin their tires trying to escape a parking spot they really shouldn't have attempted in the first place. Service was insane for this last show- someone booked a wedding reception on the bottom floor at the same time as this SXSW (not official but advertised as an ancillary show) event so only the top bar was open and the lines to order went almost all the way through the inside! Was here recently for an event with the kiddos, and we had a great time. Finally checked out Fast Friends a few days ago! I had been hearing about it for a while but never stopped in. We found free street parking right outside the brewery. My co-workers and I had the BEST time visiting this brewery. The staff was absolutely amazing- attentive, friendly, fast. The food was delicious and they truly have beverages for EVERYONE! Fast Friends Beer has a wide variety of charm. From their events and beer offerings to the music playing over head this spot is a great spot to come get together with your friends. Take a seat on the patio to see some super great views of IH35 and the Austin downtown skyline. I have now come a few times both morning and at night for different hangs. For morning and daytime hangs there is a spot near the tv's to watch some sports or daytime shows and there are spots all along outside (wrap around patio and deck below) you can get comfortable at. As I have the ability to work remotely I have found that Fast Friends Beer has been super satisfying to come in early in the mornings. I even saw (haven't participated yet) a weekly early morning yoga that starts around 8am! They offer breakfast sandwiches, sweets, and croissants as well. There is a three tier clear small case on the bar nearest the espresso/coffee machines you should check out. I have seen the best and sweetest offerings here especially in the mornings. They have iced and hot coffee items to offer as well so don't worry about having to "wait" for the right time to get a beer. Service is friendly and the baristas/beer staff have never steered me wrong on the suggestions for their beer selections. They often have 1-2 offerings, from out of state, from other breweries and brewers. Ask the staff what is new and what they recommend. They would, naturally, know what everything tastes like on the menu and if they don't they will offer you a quick sample if you want to try for yourself before committing to a pint. Whether you come to meet up with friends to share a 12 count of wings or a whole pizza OR you come for a couple of beers to get through a couple of chapters of a book there is room for you here. I checked this place out a few weeks ago during my friend's bachelorette weekend. When asked one of the employees advised me the place was just a few months old, a precious little baby. Inside it's spacious and clean. Outside the patio looks great and is dog friendly but unfortunately it was raining when I was there so I didn't get to experience it. Delicious pizza. All pizzas can be made vegan and non-vegan. Healthy and tasty appetizers. I enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and air fried artichokes. The pretzel bites were also good. Wonderful service. Though Fast Friends has only been open for the past few months, they are certainly making a name for themselves down south! Currently, Fast Friends is a huge beautiful brewery with an outdoor covered patio and a fenced in dog park on the side. Below, you'll see their next phase: a beer garden. Food: I would describe the menu offerings as healthy bar food. There are brussel sprouts, sweet potato wedges, fried artichokes, a variety of pizzas (ALL can be modified for vegans) and more. When we came last Saturday for lunch, a handful of items were already sold out/unavailable, which was pretty disappointing considering the weekend just started. If you're looking for specific modifications, I would order directly at the counter, as their current site is limited. Since my partner is lactose intolerant, it was harder for him to modify his pizza online. Lastly, pizzas are only offered in one size, so if you're eating one by yourself, expect to take home a box of leftovers! Drinks: If it has a high ABV, it's for me. After reading through the 50+ reviews, I thought I'd fill in a few gaps with words and photos. Before you set foot into this place, you need to know this is a cash free credit/debit card only establishment. The only access to this place is on the northbound feeder of I 35 and there are two entrances which lead to a rear parking lot and a front parking lot (take the 2nd entrance). There is no rear entry through a back road (Google maps says there is....wrong). Their beer menu features 13 beers on tap along with a couple of wine choices, one cider and one seltzer. Price range for beers is $5 for small pour to $9 for a 16oz hazy. Non-alcoholic choices include a soft drink fountain and coffee, no liquor sold here. They have five clean unisex restrooms, two of which have changing tables. Next to the soda machine, you'll find an elevator that will take you to the beer garden and barrel bar below. The barrel bar can be rented out for private parties and will eventually be home to barrel aged beers. There's just 2 flatscreens upstairs showing sports. They do allow service dogs inside, but your dog can sit in the outdoor area and there is a small dog park behind the brewery. We ordered a pepperoni/mushroom pizza and the crust was burnt and the toppings were somewhat lacking. It was good, but for the money there's better to be found. During the day it is quite common to see patrons on their laptops enjoying the free wifi and a drink. If I lived closer by I'd come by here for a beer and even get a four pack of their hazy to go for $18. When you close out your tab, you'll be faced with a tip screen starting at 20%. A wonderful new brewery for the South Austin area. They are following the formula of well crafted brews and a tight grub menu. The beer offerings reflect brew masters eye with well-rounded selections. Also, the food is stellar. Great options. The roasted Brussels are excellent. Our inner carnivore had to have the Nice To Meat You pizza. Excellent. Crust is just the right thickness. Heat fans will love the Jalapeño sauce. They have 4 types of seating areas to serve all preferences: main open modern area, balcony for the outside lovers, beer garden outside freedom, Barrel Bar is more intimate. Very family friendly overall. Service is at the bar for drinks that include: beer, wine, cider, cocktails, and none alcoholic drinks. Came during Labor Day, so take this review with a grain of salt. They seemed understaffed. And hey who wants to work on Labor Day. Arrive a little after 6:00pm, maybe 6:05pm. We went downstairs and ordered from menu using the QR code, the whole time I'm ordering it says "happy hour discount", the friends we sat with ordered and paid and got the discount. But when I went to pay it said "items in your cart changed price" and had to pay full price. Kind of annoying. I now know happy hour is from 4-6pm so the online menu probably had a 15min grace period. But it was still annoying. Suggestion: If it says happy hour when you add it to your cart, then give the pricing a grace period. The food comes and they don't bring us any utensils or plates to eat it with. It was served in cardboard boxes like it was To go. Again maybe a Labor Day quirk. The food has some misleading and underwhelming portions. Our friends got a caprese salad that came with half the tomatoes in the picture. Sent it back and kitchen said that's the intended portion. Maybe update the picture then!? I got a Mediterranean salad with added chicken for $6. And I got maybe 2oz of chicken if I'm being generous. It was pathetic. I was so disappointed and underwhelmed at the price to service and portion ratio. A $20 salad with 4 bites of chicken! The pizza was similarly protein challenged. To top it all off, we had to bus our own tables, and throw out our own trash, sure, I've come to expect that from trendy overpriced spots in Austin, but the trash was full and spilling over. So we couldn't. This place has also decided to ask you for the tip up front which makes no sense, especially when you have no idea what kind of experience you're about to have. Maybe it was a fluke, definitely didn't match the 4.5 star rating. My heart goes out to the staff for working Labor Day. Then you are going to find your table and scan a code to order your food online. Because 1) Why wouldn't you want 2 tabs instead of one, and 2) Why bother a human being, whom you are going to be tipping, to listen to you prattle on about what food you are going to eat?. You are going to order your food from the AI, or Mark Zuckerberg, or whatever, and it's going to be as expensive as you hoped it wouldn't be. And it's going to prompt you for a tip well north of 20%. It's also going to prompt you to leave a 5 star review, before a morsel of food has touched your credulous lips. Then someone is going to bring your food to the table. And though you tipped this heretofore stranger north of 20%, you should not expect them to provide you with things such as napkins or cheap plastic cutlery. Come on, you get what you pay for. Find that on your own. Then, when you are done, you are likely to forget about that original tab inside. And they will happily close it out for you later with their mandatory and customary charge.
