Stopped by The Yard and kicked things off at Texas Sake. They have a great selection of in-house sakes along with familiar favorites. Plus, they serve sushi and have plenty of board games to keep things fun. A great spot to hang out and try something new!

Very cool concept in the St Elmo area. Similar to a brewery but for sake which I think is very different. They even have board games to play and anime playing inside. I love that it's all indoors so no need to worry about the Texas heat. Their sake's are interesting. Not the best I've had, but still pleasurable enough to drink. They had a ginger sparkling sake that I really liked. Overall, I've been a couple times and will keep going back. It's definitely worth a visit!

Large open tasting room with plenty of seating and sunlight. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon and was disappointed to not be greeted by employees who were standing together talking. Sat at the bar and when an employee finally came over they just asked what we wanted to order but we had never been so we needed a menu. They didn't seem interested in explaining anything so we just had one flight and left. The flight was pretty good . Highly recommend the lemon drop sake. I would say good sake but received poor service experience despite it not being busy.

Super fun. Plenty of sake to try and love. Flights, special off-menu selections, and even someone grilling on a traditional hibachi. Great seating area with wooden booths and traditional pillows. Fish artwork inside is beautiful.

My husband and I came here through a class pop event for a sushi class held in the back of the sake brewery. I had the Hawaiian and pineapple sake drink. It was super tasty. I don't remember what my husband had, but he said it was good, also. I'm not sure if the brewery held the sushi class, but this was such a good idea and I can't wait to come back. There's a lot of seating, and the place's ambiance is really nice too. The sake bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the sake and made it a good experience.

TLDR - The environment is trendy and great for groups but the sake is not my favorite. I wouldn't go out of my way to try this spot. I wish I could give this spot a better review. We had been wanting to come here for a while, and finally booked a weekend to try it. Plenty of parking, and the area is really neat. Its in a warehouse type structure, and there is a foodtruck out front that serves sushi handrolls so you can eat with your sake drink. The ambiance inside is industrial/urban but there are TVs playing anime shows and some kyoto-inspired booths. There is a cool mural on the wall - overall its a really neat space. (And there is a puppy, but it looked terrified the entire time) This spot also serves beer, and I think that would be a better bet for drinking. We tried their standard flight of tasting, and the sake had a very unique taste to it - it wasn't for me. One sake tasted like they added whiskey to it which wasn't our favorite. We actually didn't end up finishing our flight because after one sip some of the sake just started to taste really bad. I've been to Kobe, Japan and toured some of the sake breweries there, so I appreciate making sake is a huge undertaking and its surprisingly involved. I give this place kudos for trying to make it in the middle of Austin, but its just not there yet. But I'm rooting for them!

every time we come here, i see the guy with his dog, and it's so homey and welcoming. He's conversational and knowledgeable on the sakes available. Food is available at the hand roll food truck. There are traditional Japanese seating and then picnic tables to accommodate larger groups. There is a stand up bar stool set up outside too. Plenty of parking. Come check out a sake flight. I really enjoy learning about this type of beverage over beer.

The only Texas brewed sake place in the entire state! I'm not sake expert by any means but I usually get a sake pairing with omakase and wouldn't know where to begin buying sake on my own. We got the sample flight which are more of the traditional Japanese sake. It started off okay but the last three sakes were pretty terrible, they were smooth and had a bad aftertaste.

Sweet guys on Mother's Day. Decent traditional sake - would have liked to try more! This place is definitely worth a trip. SUPER CUTE decor and booths to boot.

Came here on a Sunday for an event! I enjoyed the sparking Sake Flight prices at $18, you'll get a nice buzz from these. I appreciate the fact that there were mocktail options for a few of my peeps who don't drink. They enjoyed the Mocktail Margarita (Kombucha was used for the base) I also ordered a few hand rolls and this interesting spicy tuna walking taco--delicious! Texas Sake could use a makeover.. it is a little bland and uninspiring inside of bar, which is probably why it was pretty empty. They need air conditioning too, it's very hot inside. Lots of seats and space to move around plus I Love love love the booths. There is plenty of parking too.

I visited for the first time, despite heading to this warehouse area often, and I'm so glad I did! I really enjoyed the decor and the seating booths that makes you feel like you're somewhere different compared to the other breweries and distilleries in the area. The sparkling sake flight was refreshing and I think my favorite was definitely the mango dragonfruit. There was one that they said was blueberry but it gave me Korean cinnamon punch vibes (or like a mellow red hot vibes). My friend had the classic sake flight which I suggest anyone who hasn't had sake before try out. You really get to sample a good variety. Sumo was playing on their tv and the atmosphere was really chill. I've got to come back to try some of their cocktails or that sushi food truck right outside (did someone say $90 caviar and Pringle's?)

All the cocktails on the menu are delicious! Vast options for sake and even offer flights. Beautiful interior and Japanese-style seating benches where you can take your shoes off too. I love how the inside is an experience and contributes to the calming atmosphere. Outside picnic tables and high top tables out in the sun. Busy place usually but quick service and everything tastes amazing. Great location in The Yard. They had a great band playing when we visited. Try the food truck out front too! We'll definitely be back to try out more of the menu.

As someone visiting Austin for a weekend, I wanted to find a place I could chill at as we waited to check into our hotel. Texas Sake and The Yard was a great place for this. There's a few wineries and breweries in walking distance, but I've never been to a sake brewery so I decided on Texas Sake. It had a lot of open seating areas. We ended up staying for about 3hrs playing board games and solving through an escape room box. Before we even went into Texas Sake, we checked out the area and there was a small flea market nearby. They had some nice jewelry and artwork. The sake from Texas Sake were good. The wheat one tastes like whiskey and was my least favorite, but the other cloudy sakes were more smooth and easy to drink. I sipped on them throughout our gameplay. I ordered the bluefin tuna handroll from Texas Sushiko. They prepared it very quickly and I ate it just as quick. It is pretty small for $15, but it's great quality. It falls apart while you eat it, so be careful not to drop that precious tuna!

Once we got there, the grounds were absolutely beautiful and really made the experience feel special and relaxing. There are lovely waterfall/pond features. There was surprisingly a lot of choices to sit: picnic tables, tables for two etc. There are plenty was water stations and cups are provided. We enjoyed food from DeeDee's, which was delicious, and the horchata drink was especially good that we grabbed from inside the main building. I got the tofu stir fry. It was a decent amount of food and the right amount of spice. There was enough food to fill a hungry belly and just enough to leave some to have leftovers. The horchata drink filled us up so my friend and I both had leftovers! I'd like to come back early morning and enjoy a book and some coffee. I hope there's not a crowd midweek. I know the weekends can be crowded. ****So, I'm back. It's less than 24 hours later and here I am. ;) It's my goal each day to do at least 30 minutes of reading. I grabbed an espresso and a muffin. It was just over $10 for my treats FYI. I don't often come out for breakfast so I don't know if that's high or low. The inside space looked like a public office space. Each table had a person hooked up to their computer click-clacking away. It's a much different vibe than the trivia night last night. If you want an inside work space, I suggest you get there early. I grabbed an Adirondack chair near the water to enjoy my morning ritual. The space is filled with a diverse group of people: friends having coffee, families with young kids, and the business folks. I almost regret my muffin as I'm seeing many Veracruz tacos going by and they look delicious. I'm also seeing many folks coming in to grab tacos to go. Lucky me to live right down the road from this beautiful space. Perhaps next time I'll walk down with my book and get my 30 minutes of cardio done at the same time! ;)

But I did another sweep just before our Austin trip and became aware of it and then I got the opportunity to try a beer of theirs. The beer Steve and I had was an IPA by the name of Polaroid Ghost. This was a good IPA and it had a great unfolding bouquet with it's flavor profile. It kind of had a unique signature to it which we both really liked and wasn't like a usual IPA at all. Flavors to look for with this beer are dry, clean and a dankness to the flavor profile. There is a hoppy bite but it isn't extremely strong like some IPA'S. It's just a bit more subtle. This IPA is also smooth in body which makes it a nice drink. Polaroid Ghost is a good beer to sip on in the shade as summertime turns up the heat.
