Stopped to enjoy the weather and so glad we did. It was the kind of Texas day meant for beer on a patio. 512 doesn't disappoint. Cary was pouring, there were (I think) 5 brews on tap. We ordered an Amber and a hazy juicy ipa after sampling a couple others as well. Cary then poured me a taste of something that I didn't know existed! He had just pulled the last keg out that morning, and I'm so glad we were there to take part in it! After finishing our beer we grabbed another as well as a 4 pack of double barrel pecan to take home. We may skip back over today if the weather is the same! Outdoor area has limited tables and some standing whiskey barrels for table tops. Dog friendly to boot! Great place all around .
Stopped in here randomly on Saturday! Wish I would've gotten the guys name, but he was so nice and welcoming! We pulled into the lot 5 minutes before 1pm and he was immediately waving his arms to us telling us the taproom was open. Just a couple taps, we only had one beer each, which was delicious. It was super cool to walk around the brewery and see everything on a MUCH larger scale (we are homebrewers)! Thanks 512 for the hospitality!
Not to be confused with 069 TNA which is what Barbi's brewing. We're not a fan of breweries and this is no exception. I think breweries in general are overrated and again this is no exception. Having said that this one is one of the better ones we've ever been to in Austin and their products are available all over Texas and are much better than some of the rifles. I mean rivals, but then again this is Texas, so maybe I mean rifles.
Came here on St. Paddy's Day to get some BBQ from Lotz of BBQ (deaf owned) and ordered some beers to go. This place is awesome. The food / beers were fantastic. I'd recommend the Hazy IPA. Wish they had a year round tap room.
Cool brewery with a huge selection of beers, but nothing extraordinary. The brewery does not have an actual taproom open regularly, but instead is open only Saturdays from 12-4 pm in their parking lot. I went during their anniversary event and it was $25 for a glass that you keep and 6 8 oz pours of your choice (you can do 12 4 oz pours instead). Majority of the pours turned out to be larger than 8 oz so you can really get trashed here. They had 44 beers on tap. Pretty insane. Unfortunately, none of the beers were that great. They had like 4 food trucks and a lot of porta potties (lines can get long). Overall, this was a quantity over quality brewery. We had 4 people in our group and none of us were impressed, although, we are from California and are spoiled by all of the good breweries out here. If you just want to get the job done and get trashed on a Saturday afternoon, this is your spot. If your a real beer lover, you may be disappointed
I think all of the yelper complaints are the same: why not open more than one day a week? And for more than 4 hours at a time?! Maybe it's an exclusivity thing...it sure works. If you are visiting Austin and have a free Saturday early afternoon, be sure to hit up 512 for your beer desires. You can take your tasting cup home as a souvenir. They have outdoor seating, merch for purch, and are kid and dog-friendly. Double wow! My boyfriend and I made it to 512 at the tail end of their Saturday hours, but we were able to share a tasting for one. That was perfect because it was the safest way to drink, play some ladderball (it was my first time playing that!), and drive to dinner afterwards. They have clean restrooms and an easy way to purchase your guitar picks as proof of beer-drinking capability. When you park (plenty of parking btw), walk first to the door on the tasting room's left. You can purchase your tasting power, then head over to the main room for the adventure. When we went, there was basically one taptender pouring while a barback was helping him out with the glasses and stuff. It seemed like a lot of regulars were there, mostly 30+ in age, but all having a great time socializing. There wasn't a food truck there, nor any food on site, so bring your own or head out to eat afterwards.

Many tables scattered around for outdoor covid-friendly seating, dog friendly! They weren't serving from tap when we were there in Jan 2021, but you could get a growler or a 6 pack (mix 6 pack for $10) and drink it outside! They give you glasses. Bring a bottle opener!
Came here during their passport beer event thing. There was live music and it was outdoors. It was $25 and you get to keep the beer glass. You get to taste 6 full glass beers or 12 half glass beers and can pick if you want them to pour half a glass or full glass. The beer list was extensive! There were probably 2 beers we really liked and tons of unique ones that were puzzling to us. They also served some complimentary cheeses. There's also a few food trucks for hungry people. The only thing bad about the event was that restrooms were porta-potties. Many people brought their dogs to the event too. Cool to people and dog watch.
Had a chance to go to their 11th anniversary fest and it was an experience to try the whiskey barrel double pecan porter, the nitro pecan porter, the pumpkin pecan porter, the cafe oh la la and many others I had no idea produced. Live music and many of their employees talking about their brews. Food trailers were good too. Had a B.A.T. Grilled cheese sandwich which was tasty and somewhat greasy but matched well with the selection of craft.
I love the beer here, I love local beer in general but I cant tell you how many times I've gone to the bar and gotten the 512 Pecan Porter and been in some sort of chocolate roasted pecan heaven. My visit to the brewery was miraculous, I walked in to the smell of wonderful hops and saw the taps they were amazing. One tap was very special and used nitrous instead of co2 to pump the beer, they happened to have the pecan porter on tap as well many others. The Pecan Porter from the nitrous tap was smooth and creamy like a guiness but had so much more flavor it was amazing. My mouth jumped for joy with every sip. The taps were switch at some point and I had a whiskey barrel porter off the same tap which was ungodly good. If you want to have a good experience visit this brewery. I've been to several brewery's but this one made me felt smaller warmer and I felt more welcome.. and the beer was amazing.
The only way you can visit this brewery is to wait for their Seasonal Open House (so 4 times a year). My boyf and I went to their Spring Open House back in March - that was the first time we've been to the actual brewery. You pay $5 which includes a logo pint glass and 3 beers! I've had all their beers at local Austin/Houston bars and I really enjoy the Pecan Porter (although the pecan aspect is loss in the porter), but it's still damn tasty. The Open House lines form fast so get there early if you can. 512 Brewery recently started distributing their beers in San Antonio, so I can get it at Flying Saucer now! WOOT! If you're in Austin, you can get this at a slew of places across town.

512 Brewing Company was another Austin based brewery that we hit up and had a few beers from during our trip here. We had two different beers from this brewery. Both were solid and good. Starting on the lighter side of the beer spectrum from here we had the (512) Beer: 30 which is an American Light Lager. In the flavor profile for this beer you can find a natural sweetness, a crisp and clean presence as well. The beer was light bodied and very easy to drink more than one of! Moving to darker beer territory and the one that I liked maybe just a little bit better (but it was neck and neck) was the (512) Pecan Porter. This was a fun porter as it was on the nutty side of things as the name indicates. All the flavors blended in very nicely. Flavor features in this beer to find is sweetness, a coffee presence and of course the pecan flavor. The beer is nice and smooth and creamy in body. Two good beers from two different beer types made this beer exploration a little bit more well rounded. read more

My gateway brewery when I moved to Austin from Houston , I'll forever have a soft spot in my heart for their flagship ipa. Taproom is absolutely no frills but then I don't need a fancy setting to drink a goddam beer. Give me my pour, my glass, a place to sit and I'm set. Only bad part for me is now I live in San Antonio so I can't go as often as I want to. read more

Stopped by and didn't know they were closed. The owner came out and let us sample some beer since we drove so far. Everything we tried was amazing and we will be back on a Saturday when they are open! Highly recommended! read more

Outdoor seating only but tons of picnic benches. They don't do flights or tastings but decent selection. Hubs got the IPA and rated it 7/10 for its nice light, refreshing hoppy-ness. Staff super friendly and willing to open a bottle to give me (who hates beer) a taster. read more
Take the tour if you get a chance. If you are a beer drinker take a taxi cause you won't be able to get enough. I'm not much of a beer drinker and I almost had too much. The beers they have on tap are seasonal so unfortunately I was unable to try the Pecan Porter, but the Nitro was pretty good since I like dark beer. Whatever kind of beer you prefer they will have something for you on tap. The guy who led the tour was very cool and informative about the beer making process. I'm glad they are doing well cause their beer is pretty good. I can't wait to try their beer that were in the back aging in the wooden barrels. Ill definitely try to go back and see what new beer they have on tap. read more

512 had the honors of providing me with my first brewery tour. It was great, but definitely a little different than I expected. I attended the first weekend where they changed their "style" of the tour. They have not updated their website to list the correct details. Admission is $12 per person. This gets you the tour (optional), a small 512 glass souvenir for tasting, and 6 tickets for beer tasting. The tour is said to start Saturday's around noon. However once you arrive, they will let you know how long they are going to wait based on the amount of people waiting. (they like to fill up) That being said, we had about an hour wait outside on the patio-ish area (no cover, bring a hat & shades) to enjoy some brews! The weather was great and they have giant Jenga and corn hole for you to enjoy. Dogs are also welcome outside. If you plan to skip out on the tour and just enjoy the beer, bring lawn chairs as the tables get crowded after a while. IF you decide to attend their tour, keep in mind that it may not be exactly what you expect. The brewery is small and there are only about 3 sections to view in cramped spaces. Get up close to the tour guide so that you can hear because they do not use a microphone. They have some work do to on the tour, but overall I enjoyed it. Stop by 512! Besides, you can't beat $12 for 6 beers! read more
Been wanting to visit this small brewery for years but they're only open on Saturdays from Noon - 4 PM. It was great to see a small brewery keeps you origins. Nothing fancy here just great beer and a good vibe. Glad I finally got to visit in person. read more

I really want to give 512 a 4.5. Almost a perfect experience for us. My girlfriend and I went to the Saturday open house and it was great. For $12 you get an 8oz 512 glass to keep and 6 guitar pics to trade for different brews. There beers were all great, we even got to try some limited edition that's not being distributed yet. The "bartender" was really cool, knowledgeable about the beers, and overall pleasant to talk to. The only thing missing would be some type of food truck or snack. Definitely give this place a try if you are a beer lover! read more
We did 512's Saturday tour yesterday and had a great time. For $10 you get a pint glass, tastings of their beer, and a tour of their facility. Be sure to buy tickets ahead of time because they sell out. We ended up at the 11am Saturday tour because the 12:30pm was sold out by Tuesday. The staff was really nice and open to answering all kinds of questions. We were some of the first people to leave because my husband had us on a tight brewery tour schedule, but it seemed like people could hang out and drink beer for as long as they wanted after the tour was over. I think I had 4 pours which were each about half a pint's glass worth of beer. They told us that they are bouncing around ideas of doing a small tap room at this location now that the beer laws in Texas have recently changed, but they might just wait until they upgrade to a larger facility, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that pans out! 512's location is pretty central and so easy to get to, so it would be amazing if they opened a tap room. I'm updating my review for the four year anniversary party. (512) is a fantastic company, and not just for their product. I love how they openly advertised their anniversary to everyone! The workers are incredibly nice and passionate as well. I don't know how many people were here today for the anniversary, but there were a lot..... Anyway, I got to taste the pecan porter with blueberry and cocoa nibs. Did I just drink a pecan porter? Much sweeter, and went down incredibly smooth. Prior to that, I had the (512) four-- hoppy and bitter with a pack of flavor. Even after having the pecan porter, the nitro pecan porter, and the double barrel from my previous brewery tour, I'm still incredibly impressed with the quality of beers that come out of here. Thankful that I can find (512) on tap at my local bar. read more

I've been wanting to visit this brewery since we moved, but it is o my open 12-4pm on Saturdays. Outside seating only so be prepared in warm weather.. beer is great! You purchase a very small glass for $12 but you also get 6 guitar piks that you trade in for refills on the beer so actually a great deal! We would definitely come back, just earlier in the day so we can drink our 6, and also cooler weather! read more

Had so much fun during 512's 4th anniversary! It was the perfect day: Weather was sunny & cool, the costume contest was hillarious, & it was fun tasting all the different beers. Super crowded (as expected) but still had a fun time. Been there, done that, got the 4th anniversary t-shirt (literally) & will be rockin' it next time I'm pub-crawling in south ATX! read more
