Their outside patio is huge including a massive monitor for viewing events and other shows. The center section of the brewery has wooden seating with a cozy living room setting in the corner. You can actually see the brewery through the floor to ceiling glass windows. Our server was super friendly and helpful in pointing us to the menu items that he thought we might like. He even put my coke into a "to-go" cup when my hubby arrived. It was fun hanging out although for limited amount of time as the brewery was closing soon.

In 2015, Live Oak moved to their current location on a beautiful property along the Colorado River, opening a taproom and biergarten. One its unique features...it's off the beaten path of other breweries. Live Oak Brewing is north of the airport and backs to the Fast Park remote airport parking lot. At first glance it looks like it's a convergence of a fire station and deserted manufacturing plant. The grounds are impeccable...tall statuesque trees, lush green vegetation and an extensive outside biergarten. It feels like you are in a nature bubble. Interestingly, Live Oak Brewing has its own on site 18 hole disc golf course (different from traditional golf) located directly on the brewery's property. Live Oak Brewing's interior has the feel of a German Hofbräu...homey, spacious, and welcoming, with long communal tables that encourage conversation and human interaction. You can see directly into the brewing space, with large tanks and equipment. Also, board games are available if you choose to play. Live Oak is family friendly and dog friendly. In fact, Groot, the owner's dog, freely roams through the brewery drinking area. While I only had sips of beer (not a big beer drinker), my friends enjoyed their beers. In fact quite a few breweries I guess go about their beer recipes differently than the PNW or the mountain states. Some people say it's the mountain water that adds to and is critical to a well made craft beer. So being in a different region and state that isn't in these areas I kind of was at times just a bit underwhelmed with some of the breweries we went to. They weren't necessarily bad but it wasn't what I was accustomed to I suppose. But there were a few breweries that were highly impressive and Southern Heights Brewery was one if them. Steve got a really good dark beer but I got an IPA that was really amazing. It was the Evergreen Terrace IPA. This was so good and very highly refreshing. Some IPA'S taste wise kind if blur together as far how memorable the drinking experience winds up being but this one was quite impressive and the rollout of the flavor profile was just great. Flavor highlights with this beer are piney, fruity, hoppy and a very appropriate amount of bitterness. It's also light bodied so the feel of this beer isn't likely to feel like a weight in your stomach which you definitely don't want if you come across a hot Texas day.

There's always something going on--from trivia nights to showing all the major sporting events--and Saturday/Sunday often feature live music, which makes for a fun weekend hangout. The food trucks are also consistently good, so there's always something tasty to pair with a beer. One of the things that really sets this brewery apart is everything beyond the beer. They have a soccer field and sand volleyball courts that host recreational leagues, giving the place a real community feel and making it easy to spend an entire afternoon or evening there. Overall, it's a great spot with a laid-back vibe, plenty of activities, and something for everyone. We stopped by Beerburg Brewing on a recent Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend.  This place is…read moreone of the "trail stops" on the Dripping Springs "Dripping with Taste Trail."  The place is nice, inside and out, life music, playing on Sunday afternoon, sounded very good. Because of the holiday, the place wasn't that crowded.  Lots of folks going in and out of doors, so there were quite a few flies inside. We were seated immediately and given our card to post when we were ready to order. As noted in other yelp reviews, there wasn't a real clear explanation given about the posting of the "we're ready to order card," but we figured out that it goes in the small metal holder on top of the paper towel stand on the table.  Cudos for the perforated paper towels, we've been to other similar restaurants where the paper towels are not perforated, making it very difficult to tear off a sheet or two. We stopped two different servers to ask questions about several items on the menu before we ordered, both were generally unaware of how food was being prepared and put together in the kitchen.  What is sofrito rice?  "Uh, it's red rice, I don't know what's in it."  What are myacoba refried beans?  "Uh, beans that are mashed up."  You get the picture... Ultimately, we were able to order food and a flight of beers.  We ordered the brisket tacos and the flauta basket (electing to have 4 of the chicken flautas).  The food was excellent, ingredients very fresh, flavor profiles well developed, a little bit of heat in everything.  The brisket tacos were probably some of the best we've ever had!  The flautas were just downright decadent.  Rolled tortillas, deep fried, topped with charred jalapeno avocado salsa, pico de gallo, crema and cotija cheese.  Delicious! For our beer flight, we sampled each of the wild craft beers (ingredients foraged from the property and put in the beer) and the red pale ale.  I must say the wild craft beers were different, we liked the nope ale the best, it was almost like a rose wine.  The red pale ale was very good. Bottom Line:  service, average;  food, excellent;  beer, just OK.  We did not have a "gotta go back there" experience at Beerburg Brewing.
