Huge family friendly spot, dog friendly! Good food truck options and perfect for beer lovers.

Outside back patio - Open outdoor patio at Meanwhile Brewing in Austin, TX, featuring a stage with a canopy, several picnic tables, and people sitting and standing. The area has artificial grass flooring, and the sky is clear with sunlight. Trees and a building are visible in the background.

Great brewery with a ton of space, we got to visit the day after the Austin marathon for a post race celebration hosted by Meanwhile brewery. They have a good selection of good beers, and giant outdoor area in the back with lots of picnic style seating, room for a few food trucks, & a playground area in the back for family's to have a place hang out.

Brewery stop #2 was Meanwhile Brewery, located at 3901 Promontory Point Drive also in South Austin. This brewery had its own personality and had more a homey, stay a while feel. First, when you walk up to the brewery, you immediately notice three food trucks on the left-hand side - Besame ice cream, Pueblo Viejo tacos and Distance Relatives BBQ. It is always a good idea to have food available when you are drinking beer. The venue offers a unique blend of craft beers, comfortable surroundings and friendly service. When you are at a brewery, drink beer or something like that. Meanwhile Brewing has over 90 active beers. According to the bartender, their Secret Beach IPA is a local favorite. In addition, they offer a wide range of beers including German and Italian-style pilsners, stouts, sours, and a helles lager. The Black Cherry sour was a standout. The outdoor space is a major draw for groups or families with a covered structure. With a large patio shaded by trees, a playground for kids, and a turf soccer field, it's designed for the young to more seasoned guests. The vibe is super chill with picnic tables sprinkled throughout the venue. Live music is another big draw according to one of the servers, frequently you can hear songs being belted out on the patio. Meanwhile Brewery is also do-friendly too, so fur moms and papas, prepare for some love for your fur babies. Today, a construction firm had rented a back room and the entire patio. They seemed to be having a big time. My server also said other companies and community events are hosted at Meanwhile Brewery. It's perfect for casual meetings, family outings, or date nights with your significant other.

This Way - A neon sign depicting a flamingo is mounted on a brick wall. The sign is not illuminated and appears to be made of pink neon tubing. The brick wall behind it is weathered, with a mix of light and dark bricks, and shows signs of age and wear.

About 20 beers and various wines, cocktails and coffees on the menu any given day. The beer selection spans a decent variety. It leans toward hoppy but it was also summer when I went; perhaps there are more dark beers when the weather cools down. The place is huge. Giant brewing facility with ample indoor and covered outdoor seating. Service was friendly and prompt and my beer, the San Diego IPA, was delicious.

I ask why not. I live in Pflugerville and during COVID, I always drove here for my favorite beer to go! The drive at that time was quick and easy. Now, when I am south I always make it a point to go or bring visiting friends and family. It's a beautiful setting, spacious indoors and out. Shaded area with a playscape, a stage, and so many picnic tables and chairs. I have yet to mention the amazing food trucks, from barbecue, burgers, pizza, my favorite Mexican food truck, and even ice cream. I can only wish it was in my back yard. The beer selection is nothing short of amazing, with Tender Robot, being my favorite. Coffee selections and wine based cocktails. The staff are equally amazing and well versed in the beer selections. This is a must try in Austin!

Really awesome brewery located 10-15 min away from where we were staying in downtown Austin. The employees were really nice and I loved how you could get beer or coffee! We visited around 11am on a Friday and people were inside working while enjoying coffees, lunch from the food trucks outside and beers! It's really such a cool place and we loved the beers - especially the sour!

Meanwhile Brewing Co. - Southeast Austin One of my favorite breweries in Austin, hands down. The space is massive and thoughtfully designed--with shady picnic tables, turf fields, a stage for live music, and now a brand new sand volleyball court that ups the fun factor even more. Dogs are allowed inside the taproom (bless them for this), which is key when the Texas heat hits triple digits. It's one of the few breweries where you--and your pup--can truly chill out together. The beers rotate often, and there's always something interesting. I'm a fan of their German-style lagers and love stumbling into seasonal or small-batch releases. There's also frosé, cocktails, coffee, and wine if beer's not your thing. Food trucks on-site hit every craving: pizza from Side Eye Pie, tacos from Pueblo Viejo, chicken sandwiches from Songbird, and more. But what really sets Meanwhile apart is the fantastic staff--always friendly, quick with recommendations, and genuinely welcoming to everyone (dogs included). It makes a big space feel like a neighborhood hangout. Come for the drinks, stay for the vibe--and maybe a volleyball match. Just arrive early if you want easy parking and a good spot under the shade.

Side Eye Pie: The Local Trip - hi-fi oyster and crimini mushrooms, garlic cream, fontina, herbs added Italian sausage

This is a combo review: Stopped by Meanwhile Brewing while in ATX. The brewery campus and tasting room is stunning. Outside they have a great selection of food trucks with a great variety of food options from BBQ to Pizza to Tacos to Ice Cream. I grabbed a Japanese Lager from Meanwhile and my stomach decided a Pizza and Wings from Side Eye Pie was the best food choice for lunch. I ordered a The Local Trip Pizza and Duck Confit Chicken Wings. The pizza comes topped with hi-fi oyster and crimini mushrooms, garlic cream, fontina, and herbs, I added Italian Sausage and it was a perfect combination of ingredients and toppings. The wings were excellent, I got them tossed in their Calabrian buffalo sauce, a great heat and amazing flavor. All enjoyed with a refreshing light, clean and crisp Japanese Style Rice Lager. This is a great place to stop by and enjoy a cold beer in a great atmosphere. Check out one of the food truck vendors on campus and bring the food in to the tasting room to enjoy together on a hot summer day.

Dog, friendly food, truck large brewery tucked away they serve coffee, local brew and a variety of amazing cocktails. Tons of places to sit under the trees. A great hangout.

Mexican food truck - The image shows a Mexican food truck called Pueblo Viejo with colorful artwork of a butterfly and cacti on its exterior. The truck has a window for orders and a person visible inside. The setting includes gravel ground and a wooden platform in front of the truck, with a clear blue sky overhead.

Fun place with huge outdoor patio and large selection of beers on tap, wine and a few frozen drinks. I tried the froze which was perfect - not too sweet with hibiscus and a basil finish. There was also a mango sticky rice slushy with coconut milk that was good too! We got some tacos at the food truck, lots of other options to choose from including pizza and BBQ. Huge TV and tons of picnic tables for outdoor seating with fans and misters.

Darling & Invisible Gorilla
Katie M.

Stopped by Meanwhile the other day to enjoy a beer after donating a few items at the Goodwill around the corner. I ordered the Darlin and my husband ordered the Invisible Gorilla - which surprised me because the menu highlighted notes of Banana and Coconut and my husband hates Bananas/Banana flavoring. That said, he thoroughly enjoyed this beer! Stouts aren't typically my thing, but I got a sip, and it was honestly the first stout I didn't make a face at. Also, you could not taste the banana or coconut - guess that's where the "invisible" comes in. Highly recommend!

The photo depicts the front exterior of Meanwhile Brewing Co., with a brick wall displaying large gold signage reading 'MEANWHILE BREWING CO.' The building has a modern industrial design with gray metal siding and two small windows. In front, there are several cactus plants and part of a parked car is visible. The sky is partly cloudy, indicating daytime.

Ask the Community - Meanwhile Brewing

Do you have indoor seating?

Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating but it definitely fills up on the weekends.

Can we bring in outside food?

Hi Kristin. In general, we do not allow outside food except for a few exceptions, such as small snacks for children and birthday cakes for parties. Cheers, Meanwhile.

Is there any fans or misters?

Yes, they have fans, misters, umbrellas, and plenty of shade.

Do you guys serve coffee in the morning and is there a food truck on site?

Absolutely, we have coffee and espresso drinks. We open at 8 AM on the weekdays and 9 AM on the weekends. Pueblo Viejo serves breakfast. Cheers!

Is your playground open yet?

It is indeed!

Do they serve beer in the mornings on the weekend when they're open, as long as you have food?

Hi Katie. We are open at 9 AM on Saturday & Sunday. We can serve beer in the morning on Saturday without food. On Sundays, per TABC rules & regulations, our legal hours of service of alcoholic beverages are noon – closing & 10 a.m. - noon only with… Read more

Do you allow smoking outdoors?

Hi Claudia. We do not allow smoking indoors or outdoors in the taproom area. We do have a designated smoking area, immediately outside of the taproom though.

Is the kid play space open yet?

Hey, thanks for the question. The playground is open!

Are y'all kid friendly?

Absolutely! We are both kid and dog friendly. One guest also brought their pet pig, Scarlett Johamsson. That was a fun day.

Is there wifi? If so, is it stable enough to work on or just checking the box?

Hi Rachel! Thanks for the question. We have got plenty of Wifi out there for you and anybody who wants it. We realistically have capacity for a few hundred people to do work, take zoom calls, watch Netflix, etc. with no problem. Hope to see you soon!

Do they have TVs?

They have 4-5 big screens which would have been on this weekend but they got hosed by direct tv - will be functional by next weekend

They were both very good. The service in this place is amazing. I got to give a shout out to my bartender "Matt"! He was so attentive, on top of everything and had a great personality. He's one of the best bartender's I've ever had. It was a pleasure to meet you Matt! The atmosphere and ambiance in this place is very lively, joyful and rocking. They had a band that was made up of several band members from a school (sorry I don't remember the name of the school) that was killing it on stage. They played all kinds of music and a lot of old rock and roll music. They were so much fun to listen to and watch. This was our first time here, but it for sure won't be our last. This place must be a draw on music nights. Highly recommend!

In the attached picture from left to right I rank the sake from bad to less bad. The one of the right was bearable but I still would not buy it alone. Perhaps the japanese sakes would have tasted better? We also decided not to get the sushi hand rolls to try and make the drinks more bearable as they did not have much variety or sounded good. I was also not a fan of the interior. Kind of reminded me of an old chinese buffet with those large stick chairs and tables. The staff here were friendly, but nothing else really redeemed here

We got Texas Sake tasting to start with and this is where we finished. The flight looked very different from other people's reviews here and tasted VERY fishy. The yellow-ish one was probably the most bearable one but it still was not good at all. To be very honest, I really had to push myself to take more than one sip of each. If I had nothing to compare with, I would probably refrain from being this harsh, but I have had cheap and expensive sake and I have never tasted anything this bad... We looked at the hand roll options and we didn't find anything we would be interested in. The interior felt like it was a bingo room with a couple of Japan inspired booths that looked a little bit out of place compared to the rest of the floor. Gave one star for nice staff and a cool fish mural.
