Oh my gosh, YUM!! Came in here shortly after they opened for lunch one day and got to see their beautiful displays before the lunch rush hit. I was so impressed at how colorful and fresh everything looked, it was art! I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with a side of hummus and pita. I opted for the spicy hummus and it was awesome. Pretty spicy. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I got the Greek salad and rice as my two sides and both were delicious. They give you a side of garlic sauce I think too with the meal. The lady who helped me and checked me out was so kind. Highly, highly recommend this place for a healthy fast lunch! Can't wait to go back and try more stuff!

Was there last week and certainly well worth every bit of 5 stars. Amazing chicken & beef shawarma, hummus, baba ganoush, tabouli, and beet salad. Baklava out of this world. The lady owner is very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is very inviting. Took some sweets to go for a dinner party. We shall be back many times.
So much delicious authentic food for such a great price! My friends have been raving about this place, so I was so happy to experience it, and it didn't disappoint! The meat is cut before your eyes, and the plates are assembled before you which I love! I tried the beef and the chicken shawarma and I was surprised to find that I actually liked the chicken better. It was so juicy! The beef did feel a little drier, but maybe it was because it was closer to the end of the day. The dolma and potatoes were also so good and flavorful. And the white sauce that comes with the plate is so addicting. The pita was really good too, they heat it up for you so it comes out warm. And I like that you can actually split it open into a pocket. I definitely want to try the wraps next time, as well as their desserts.
This was a cool spot a friend showed me. I enjoyed the meal. Everything tasted fresh. Shawerma was tasty. Hummus was 10/10. Their falafel tasted like it had more veggies in it. The service was great and helpful with all my questions. I never knew it was there and had never heard of it. Glad I was shown this on The setup of the food and layout is nice. You see everything up close. Behind glass of course.
Talk about a hidden GEM!!! so authentic and so freaking goood!!! I got a plate and 2 sides i think? You are able to pick half portions to try more things in their cafeteria style line. The meat was tender, flavorful, and worth it. Their hummus was....incredible. Might be the best i've had in austin??
I have been wanting to try peace bakery for the longest time and I finally did! Me and my boyfriend had a great experience here. The staff was very kind and helpful, the food was fantastic and there was plenty of seating. The hummus was very good, definitely a classic simple hummus but they've perfected it. The chicken and beef shawarma wraps were also great! So much flavor and they can make it spicy if you ask for it. Excited to come back!
The consistency of this place is great. I've had a chance to try almost all of their offerings, and without a doubt, this place serves up large amounts of delicious offerings. Again, you basically pick sides (half or whole sides) and choose meat to go along with. If you want multiple meats, just ask for the item as extra meat. Of course, you'll know this if you come here often; sometimes the staff will give you that tip. My go-tos are basically hummus (spicy), veggie baba, or just plain baba, tabouli, grape leaves, chickpea salad, cucumbers salad, beet salad, sometimes tzaiki, and olive salad. For meats I often opt for the kefta stew, eggplant, roasted chicken (you can choose if you want half, whole, and which part), or some of their specials, such as stewed lamb chops in tahini sauce, their BBQ beef stew, roasted chicken with almonds and onions on pita bread, or a myriad of other options. I'm also addicted to their rice which usually accompanies their meat. They also have schwarma, but I prefer what they have out front. Bread comes complimentary. Then they have their desserts--numerous filo pastry doughs in different shapes with different nuts, and dessert cheese. Their food is filling and prepared well. They've recently obtained a food truck which they plan to pop-up in a few different locations, although they still seem to be deciding long term where to situate it. Also, they've replaced their table tops recently. It was about time, since they were getting a bit worn. Their upper level (the part up the steps) seems to be nearing completion, and it is currently a place for storing their pita bread.
I love peace bakery! It's so good!! The chicken shawarma is delicious. The rice is not that great, but the potatoes are so flavorful! Great price and great portions!
Good food, delicious pita bread they sell in addition, nice service. Just one thing, the young man was finishing my wrap with bare hands, no gloves, and I did not see him washing them in between tasks. And I am also not a fan of food sitting for a long time in big pans, being heated for unknown time. I know some other places change them often, because the food sells out pretty quick.

A very long serving line filled with sheet pans of middle Eastern pastries, including a few I'm sure I've never seen before. Falafel cooked to order & delivered to the table (totally worth the wait - best ever!) Middle Eastern (Arabic?) music, "Free Palestine" sticker on the door, cash preferred. Good pita bread, amazing beets, friendly patient service.
Peace Bakery & Deli is one of the best restaurants in North Austin. My partner has always been a huge fan of Mediterranean restaurants, but I never fell in love with the food until I tried Peace's Palestinian-style cuisine. The food here is truly special, and every experience is better than the last. My favorite thing to order here is the falafel plate. The falafel is fried-to-order, so it is so fresh and delicious. There is a cafeteria style buffet of amazing sides to choose from. Some of my favorites are the tahni baba ganoush, the tabouli, and the potatoes (can be a bit spicy for me but I'm a spice wimp). Their tzatziki sauce is also amazing. The menu caters to both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I wish I could speak to the amazing shawarma options they serve, but I am not a meat eater, so look to the other reviews for this. I can say my two dogs have tried a taste of the lamb, and they were in absolute heaven. I also have enjoyed both the zatar and cheese pitas (kind of like a pita pizza), and the staff will warm them in the oven for you (or you can warm yourself at home). Complete your dining experience with THE best baklava in Austin. ZOMG, all of the options are all so good. I think the walnut is my favorite, or the pistachio, or is it the cashew? You cannot go wrong. Finally, as if the delicious, fresh, healthy food wasn't enough to convince you to try Peace out, this family-owned restaurant has the kindest, most caring and personable staff. Each time we go in there, the owners, family, and staff (especially Ali) make us feel more like friends than customers, and I see them take this same care with each returning customer, asking questions about their lives and remembering their favorite foods. Peace Bakery & Deli is a treasure in Austin, and I highly recommend trying it out!

I've been meaning to check out Peace Bakery, and I finally made my way over and I'm so glad I did! This is definitely one of those Austin hole-in-the-wall gems that deserves some love. I absolutely love a cafeteria-style setup where you can walk in, look at all the options, and build your own plate. I wasn't quite sure what to choose, so I let the staff make some recommendations, and I went with their suggestions. Sometimes you just have to trust the experts! The owner's son was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. You can tell this is the kind of place where people genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they're serving. Peace Bakery has that authentic, neighborhood feel that makes you want to keep coming back and trying something different each time. It's a true little Austin gem, and I'm definitely glad I finally stopped by. Would absolutely come back! I already know there are more dishes I need to try. read more
My second time here and I am still good with the food here. Everything looks delicious so no matter what you get, you will probably love it. I enjoyed the leg of lamb this time with rice, beets, egg plants and pita bread with hummus. The meat was tender and easily peeled from the bone. This is set up likeva cafeteria so the service is from that point, but with that being said it is as fast as you are. read more

Authentic, fresh food! We got there before closing and they still had plenty of sides and desserts left. There are so many options of veggies, this is the place to go if you need healthy food. We got the lamb shank and roasted chicken, and I think the roasted chicken was much better. One meat with two sides is about $15, and it comes with pita bread! read more
This place has been on my list for a while. Unfortunately walking in they didn't have falafel so the only other vegetarian option was a vegetarian platter. I thought the service could have been better, the staff seemed tired and wanting to go home. The vegetarian platter was huge - portion sizes here in general are very large. Enough for 3 people! It was cool to try each item - the walnut dip stood out to me in particular. Also enjoyed the hummus, beets and tahini. The potatoes were kind of disappointing. read more
MAIN MEAL: We ordered the mix kebab combination, which comes with 3 skewers and 3 eight ounce sides (or 6 half sides). The skewers are usually chicken, beef, and lamb but they ran out of the chicken ones when we got there. We got 2 beefs and 1 lamb. The ground beef skewer was very tender and aromatic. The lamb skewer was smoky and definitely my favorite. SIDES: We had the option of getting SIX half sides! We ordered baba ghanoush, hummus, tzatziki, eggplant, spicy potatoes, and fattoush salad. All of them were super yummy but I would highly recommend getting the baba ghanoush, spicy potatoes, and fattoush salad. DESSERT: We got a piece of kunafa, which was very yummy! Not overly sweet and nice and warm. We also got a piece of pistachio baklava. Would recommend both! OVERALL: I can't recommend this restaurant enough, probably one of the best meals I've had in Austin! I think this is good for 2 people. If I had one suggestion, I wish it came with more meat skewers, but you'll definitely be full from all the sides! They have rotating weekday/weekend specials, so be on the lookout for that. Get the vegetarian platter, ask them to make it vegan, and feast like royalty. It's genuinely enough food for 2 - 4 meals, depending on how hungry you are, complete with fresh salads, plant protein in form of various beans, luscious dips, and fluffy pita bread. Make sure you get the hummus spicy, because that was the best part. I went with my parents who also loved the falafel and baklava. It's not much to look at inside the dining room, but you'll be so focused on your plate, that won't matter past a minute. read more

Nut Allergy - Many of the desserts have nuts, so be careful there. What I had was fine. Review is for takeout via a delivery app. We ordered two of the Beef Shawarma with a full side of coriander potatoes and a half side each of the hummus and baba ghanoush. Honestly, we would've been fine with one order. Portions = Massive. They offered me pita bread when I picked up, which was great. Value: Amazing 5/5 Taste: The hummus and baba ghanoush were great (4.5/5). The beef was okay - some tough pieces, but overall very flavorful and went great with the pita bread (4/5). Service: Timely and friendly 5/5. Huge recommend for the value alone. read more
I've come here a few times and always had great experiences! They have big space and are never busy to the point where I'd worry about a long wait or getting seats. Their portions are pretty big and a fantastic value for the area. I'd recommend either coming very hungry or going in with the mindset of making 2 meals out of your plate. The meat options are all solid, but the sides are really where Peace stands out. There's so many flavorful options that you can come pretty frequently and never get bored. If you're in the north central Austin area looking for Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food, I can't recommend them enough read more

The food was delicious. We got a mixed Shawarma combo with beef and chicken. We also tried the baba ghanoush and hummus with pita, would highly recommend. The cashier was so nice and gave us recommendations on spice levels. The inside is a large indoor space with tons of seating option would recommend! read more

The chicken shawarma wrap was delicious, but the falafel wrap was a little bit dry (still tasty though). The coriander potatoes were so flavorful and definitely worth a try. We ordered the pistachio and cashew baklavas and both were so good and not too sweet! Service was super kind and helpful as this was our first time trying out the bakery. The place is a lot bigger inside than the outside led me to believe with plenty of tables for customers. read more

I usually go for lunch/dinner on work days, since close to my job. At first is intimidating since I was not familiar with the names of the foods. But the service is extremely friendly. I take my meal to go, so my experience is based on that. I usually order fish, chicken, or the eggplant plate which I find it similar to a stuffed bell pepper. You can choose 2 full sides or 4 half sides. Whether you are a fan of middle Eastern cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is definitely worth a visit. read more
Don't let the name "bakery" fool you - this place is sooo good not just with desserts, but hot plates as well. The ordering process is assembly-line style, with a few menu options (e.g. wraps) where you don't need to specify everything. I ordered the beef shawarma wrap to keep things simple, but I would definitely go for the platter meal next time. They have a huge selection of sides, and their meats are cooked rotisserie-style. For the small number of staff they have behind the counter, they move quickly cutting the meat, scooping sides and managing the register. The beef shawarma wrap was absolutely delicious - the meat was tender and packed with flavor, and the cold ingredients (humus, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and lettuce) pair so well with the beef. The wrap and the platters are also decently priced for the amount you get! Lots of parking outside, and a good number of tables inside. I unfortunately did not get the chance to try any of the desserts, but I will be sure to make a return trip! read more
Peace Bakery was amazing and the employees were very helpful and sweet. The food was AMAZING and flavorful. The meat was tender and tasted fresh and the hummus was so smooth and delicious. The tomato/olive salad was so tasty. The pita bread was fluffy and tasted fresh. I was super impressed with everything. And my favorite part was definitely the pistachio baklava-sooooo flaky and to die for. I will definitely be coming back. My only complaint was that the AC was out and I was drenched in sweat after having my meal. Hopefully it's fixed the next time I visit. read more
I just love this place! I can't believe I haven't written a review for them yet. But I've been going here for probably the last 10+ years, maybe more. Their food is unique, and always fresh. It's an odd location but once you know where they are you don't forget them. It's family owned and they all work there. They make most everything from scratch. I have never had a bad experience here - their food is always exceptional quality and so fresh. I love the sides - the main salad is awesome, the shredded cabbage slaw is awesome, the beets is soaked in sugar and vinegar - it's awesome. The cucumber and tomato salad -that's awesome. The rice - omg - I could eat a ton of that stuff. The hummus - it's awesome. I mean you want me to go on? It's always so fresh too They always have a spit going with chicken and gyro meat. But I really love their lamb options and chicken too. They do a special everyday - on Thursday's it's pan fried fish with spicy rice, I think Friday is a whole roasted lamb. They always have lamb shanks too. Always have some flavorful chicken, and great vegetarian options too. Oh - let's not forget about the desserts! The mother makes them all - and they are all so damn good! I got a sample - coconut baklava is - wow - awesome! The pistachio baklava - awesome. The Walnut Baklava - awesome. The cashew baklava - so good! I bought a sample of 5 different ones and brought them into work for my co-workers - they went nuts I tell ya. They were like "where did you get such tasty pastries??". Ancient Palestinian Secret!! LOL! This family is always nice and welcoming. Service is always great here. I go here at least once or twice a week and just love this place! read more
