OMG. This place is soooooo cute!!! We came for dinner and ordered their chicken and lamb plates. Both came with a generous serving of protein, salad, hummus, and 2 dolmades (?), which, according to google, are stuffed grape leaves that are served as appetizers, usually has a filling consisting of rice, herbs, oil, and meat. They cook their meat perfectly and not a lot of places can do that. My husband took photos for me, but it won't let me upload onto yelp due to heic tags vs jpg....Anyway.. Love the food and the atmosphere. Staff were friendly and nice. They even gave us a plate of beignets on the house! Super affordable prices! Just a quick update on our DoorDash order! We tried the chicken plates, the half salad/half Lamb plate, hummus, and Greek chicken soup. Unfortunately, our hummus was missing, and the soup didn't have quite the flavor we hoped for. Santorini Cafe is great for lunch. My husband and I each enjoyed a gyro sandwich and side salad. It was fresh, delicious, and quite filling. We also shared an order of fries. They were straight out of the fryer and sprinkled with a few herbs. So good! We sat outside on the porch since it was an unusually pleasant day for December in Texas and our food arrived shortly after. Our server was kind enough to give us a sample of their beignets. They were different from the traditional beignets you'd get in New Orleans. These little deep fried donuts were crispy on the outside and had a mochi-like chewiness on the inside. This is a great little Greek restaurant. I'm half Greek and grew up on Greek food. We had the dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) and tzatziki with pita as the appetizer. The dolmas were so good I had to ask if they buy them or make them, themselves. They said they make their own dolmas. I had the lamb gyro, and my wife had moussaka. Both were excellent, although next time I'm going to ask for more tzatziki on the side. I can never get enough tzatziki! Service was excellent. Came in for a casual date night and it was such a cute homely spot. The interior has a bit of an old timey charm and I think the people at the counter were the owners since their family was also in the space. We had a sampler platter which has delicious dolmas, I had a gyro, and we added a lemon chicken soup which was so good and really surprised us how much we loved it. I also had a glass of sangria which was very easy to drink and only cost $4.50 during the HH and the man told me they make it in house. Santorini Café is the real deal! Having visited Santorini, Greece, this restaurant lives up to its reputation 4.7/5.0 rating with 1K+ reviews. Santorini was our original honeymoon location that got deprioritized by a free trip won to Negril, Jamaica from Modern Bride magazine (Santorini trip happened 6 years later.) My first impression was this restaurant was extracted from Santorini and plopped down on North Lamar in Austin, TX. The restaurant is a former residential home...white on the outside with blue lettering really mimicking the structures in Greece. It has a homey, lived-in feel. There is quite a lot of artwork on the walls of different sizes, colors and types. Even for a late business lunch you could hear friendly voices, and smells wafting from the kitchen. I ordered the lamb plate, and my colleague ordered the chicken plate. Though I am supposed to be cutting back on red meat, I made an exception today. The plates came with a Greek salad, dolmas, tzatziki sauce (Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, fresh dill, salt & pepper) and of course the meats. OMG the food was delicious. My lamb was well seasoned and so tender you could cut it with a fork. The Greek salad was fresh with the perfect amount of salad dressing. The dolmas were the best I have ever eaten...grape leaves and rice were cotton soft...very enjoyable to eat. The pita bread was firm yet super soft inside. Wow...what a meal!!! When you thought it could not get any better, Evette brought complimentary Greek beignets to our table. They were a little crispy on the outside, spongy soft on the inside drizzled with cinnamon and honey. Yum to the nth degree!!! The portions were generous and as a result, I took half of my meal with me. Evette, our server, was friendly and personable. She quickly satisfied our requests. I've driven past this neat looking restaurant so many times and procrastinated on how I'm going to try it one day, well procrastinate no more because that day has come! Located on North Lamar this nice gem also has outdoor seating so you can enjoy the breeze while chowing down on some good Greek eats. I ordered the lamb plate and it was plentiful! Fresh and deliciousness all to myself. My plate came literally within seconds of me seating myself which I told the lady that was fast service! About 2 minutes later she comes back with what appeared to be some type of dessert (cinnamon balls) for free I'm guessing they knew I was a first timer. I got the lunch special lamb gyro and it was just as good as usual but we also ordered the mozzarella sticks, dip trio, baked feta, and some extra hummus. Everything was very good and the service was excellent! I was surprised but how good the mozzarella sticks were and I loved it with their tzatziki dip! The tzatziki here is thicker and more of a dip than a sauce which is kind of fun and different. Their hummus is very good but their baba ghanoush was very different from other baba ghanoushs that I've tried. One of my coworkers ordered a pizza and said that it was very good as well. My friend has been on a quest to try more Greek food after his vacation to Greece. A few months ago, we got a whole group together to go up to Santorini Cafe, and it was a hit! I ordered the Santorini Pikilia, which is a sampler plate with a little bit of their most popular appetizers, and a half salad topped with meatballs. My favorites are the Spinach & Cheese Pies, so I may have been more satisfied ordering just those, but it felt healthier getting a variety of other things too. However, the plate included so much cheese that I didn't really spare myself any calories there! The hummus and tzatziki were good, and paired well with the veggies and pita. I did not like their version of baba ghanoush, and I was reminded I never really cared for Dolmas. Still, the impact of a big plate with a little bit of everything was really satisfying! I probably did not need to order the salad. I was so full that I can't really objectively tell you whether the meatballs were good, because my appetite was waning by the time I got to them. One friend wishes she ordered what I did. I think my other friends enjoyed their gyros and feta fries. We were impressed with the family atmosphere created by the employees. The final special touch to their service were complementary Lucumades served at the end of the meal! Food: Their food is pretty authentic Greek food. I got their lamb plate, and it was pretty tasty! It came with some dolmas, which I really liked. Also, a few minutes after we received the food, they also served us some complimentary Greek Beignets! I was not expecting that, but it nice to greeted with such great service and hospitality. Last thing I want to note about the food, and possibly the most important: their pitas. OMG, their pitas! It was the best pita I've ever had, and I don't even like pitas that much. It was so good, because you can tell it was homemade and it was FRESH, with great seasoning. It was still piping hot when it came out with the lamb plate, and I ate that up before I ate the rest of the plate. Ambiance: They have a pretty decent indoor area, but what's great is their porch, and even better, they have a really massive yard with lots of benches. The dessert was a welcome surprise, but I do wish it had come along with more carbs like rice for example. I've been eating here for 10 years, and the lamb gyro is still my absolute favorite! I honestly don't know how they've managed to stay so consistent with the quality after all this time, but it's seriously impressive. I moved out of North Austin a few years ago, but whenever that lamb gyro craving hits (like yesterday), this is the only place I'll order from. Even with a 45-minute Uber Eats delivery window, it still tastes amazing without having to reheat it. For some reason, this is also the only place where I finish the salad that comes with it. This was a pretty reasonably priced and delicious Greek restaurant! And the plates are so filling. The lamb is hot and has a good bite and a bit of a crisp to it which I love. The dolmas are addicting (but two of my friends didn't really like it so take that as you will). And honestly the standout food for us was the pita. It was still warm and crispy while still being bready. I would come back just for the pita. I do wish there was more tzatziki. I was trying to spread it to cover the lamb, dolmas, and pita but there just wasn't enough. And I wish the salad had a bit less dressing, the vinegarette was just so strong. The workers were also so friendly and ended up bringing us some Greek beignets on the house. I was a fan but some of my friends weren't too into it because it tasted kind of sour. Food is great! Got the gyro plate, fish wrap, and tried Greek honey balls for the first time. The dark green leafy portion is called a dolma-it was stuffed with rice and it's a bit sour but I enjoyed it! Tzatziki sauce just goes so well with the warm, crisp (but not hard!) pita. This restaurant is highly rated on Yelp and I can see why! The food is delicious and affordable ($10-20). I really love how comfortable I feel inside-I can sit on the different chairs, the sofa, or on the outside benches.
