Definitely make a brunch reservation. We got lucky and got seated quickly at a table by the door, but as a crowd came after us they got quoted longer and longer wait times. The parking lot is small and awkward, but we got lucky and someone left as we pulled in. The service was amazing. The food took awhile, but it is understandable with how busy they got. He kept updating us and checking in on us. We had coffees and people watched so we weren't upset. The restaurant is really cute with lots of plants and a nice vibe. We tried the vegemite flight and found out I don't like vegemite, but the cheddar biscuits it's on is fantastic. It was an interesting dish overall. I'm glad we got it. We got a pancake flight and a chorizo egg dish--both were great. Pancakes were amazing. I'd come back and want to try the fish and chips. read more

I ordered via DoorDash, which was my first mistake, a fresh lemonade and Eggs Benny Classic for a grand total of $29.42. The lemonade wasn't delivered though there was a straw in the bag. I got a refund for that which didn't solve the problem of not having a drink for lunch. There was no silverware for the entree. The hollandaise sauce for the eggs was ridiculously awful, either the emulsion was off or there was too much acid added. I forced myself to eat it since it cost almost $30 bucks for an entree. The hash browns were okay but not that incomparable to a fast food joint. Overall, I will never eat here again and I highly suggest they take the eggs benedict off the menu. It's just too hard of a dish for your chefs clearly. Oh and DoorDash, I hadn't used your service in 2 years and this reminded me why. 2 items and your driver only brings 1...Seriously how do you stay in business? read more

This is by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. There was a super long wait. While we waited inside, it was uncomfortably hot. We were seating outside where the patio was riddled with flies. I had to cover my food with napkins to protect my food from being contaminated by bugs. I ordered the banana and butter scotch pancakes, poached eggs, and chicken sausage. I didn't realize it was possible to ruin pancakes but this restaurant figured out a way. I've had pancakes from box mix that is better. The pancakes lacked flavor and sweetness. The "syrup" didn't even taste sweet so it didn't make the flavorless pancakes taste any better. The chicken sausage was okay. Nothing special. To make matters worse, the food messed up my stomach resulting in a crime scene in the bathroom. Enjoyed brunch at this Australian cafe on a Saturday morning. I recommend making an advance reservation online as this space can get pretty crowded with long wait times. We ordered the banana bread French toast, a side of hash brown with aioli dipping sauce, and the cast iron baked eggs. The cast iron baked eggs were a letdown, but the other items were fantastic. I have been here twice and I love the vibes! It's super cute inside. They also have a patio too if you prefer to sit outside. The staff has been very accommodating both times I went. I would give the bbq pulled pork Benny a 5/5. Loved the sweet and savory combination. It was perfect with the runny poached egg and cheddar biscuit. The pancakes I got were fluffy and thick, but few bites were dry. I also wish they had more bananas. Turkey bacon tasted too rubbery. My favorite drink here was the salted caramel latte. The coffee was amazing, as were the fresh juices and 'fluffy' cocktails. Our server Henry was fantastic and so welcoming. He offered suggestions & checked on us regularly. The rest of the team were also on top of it, making sure we had everything we need. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and the only item for possible improvement is the temp in the restaurant. We came here for a group brunch, and the vibes were wonderful! We had a big table out in the patio and our waitress Geri was beyond exceptional! Right from the beginning, she was extremely friendly and made us feel so welcomed -- she ended up surprising our whole group with 3 bottles of complimentary mimosa! Just know if you ever get her, it's about to be a damn, good time. Talk about service! :) I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with turkey bacon (requested that they put it in the burrito vs. on the side) with a side of the pickled jalapeños. I could not decide between the greens or the hashbrown so I decided to get the greens with a side of hashbrowns. The greens were quite literally thrown greens on a plate. Not dressed up, just added for the presentation. Hashbrowns: These were nothing special. I would say if you don't want greens you can switch them out, but they are not worth a whole side order. I just wouldn't say they were anything special compared to what you can probably buy at the store or make at home. I forgot the name of the sandwich, but it was also subpar. Again nothing I would not and could not make at home. Blue matcha and Lavendar: I got the iced and hot blue matcha and Lavendar because why not! If I came back for anything, I would absolutely come back for these drinks. I can't say if it's better hot or cold, but I highly suggest if looking for a drink on this menu. I also must say their plating was a job well done and made these picture perfect food photos. As for staff, I think staff was friendly and helpful as a first timer. Ambiance was also really cute when considering a brunch spot. I would bring my family here or a time with friends. That said, I think this is where the restaurant really executed. With a location that's pretty central in Austin, it is easy to get to, and plenty of free street parking. If the weather is nice, sitting out on the patio is perfect. When I had brunch with my bf, we each got drinks and an entree for ourselves for brunch. I got the blue matcha & lavender latte, which had the perfect amount of sweetness! If you are sensitive to sweet lattes, it might not be a good fit, but it was the perfect amount for me! For my entree, I got the Smashing Avo Benny, which included smashed avocado, poached eggs, and hollandaise, all on top of flavorful cheddar biscuits and garnished with beet hummus. Service definitely fell short this day. First time here and got there a few minutes late for a 9:30 am reservation. Upon entering the place and vibe was amazing, loved the vintage sinage along with the booths/bar seating. I told the gentlemen the name on the reservation and he said there was no reservation under that name. I checked the map again to make sure I wasn't in the wrong place and tried to call my friend, which failed. I asked him again, and he said no reservation under that name. When my other friend arrived and we were both confused, as I turned around to see the patio/outdoor seating, I saw the two friends already there. Told them they were sitting outside and how to get there. Walking to the outside patio we passed by the uni sex restrooms had single stalls and a shared sink area, both were well kept. Once outside we were sat with our friends. There was no silverware on the table, which wasn't a big deal at the moment. The first server came over and was pleasant taking our beverage orders. I got a drip coffee w/Cream and sugar and then the mimosa flight. She said they didn't have dragonfruit so I could do grapefruit which wasn't an option sooo double up something. About five minutes later someone came to inform me alcohol can't be served before 10 am on Sunday so I had to wait the 20 minutes. Wouldn't that be good for the staff taking the order to know and inform the guest? The coffee and mimosa came out without issue, other than the coffee did not come with cream/sugar as requested and remember, no silverware? I waited as they said they'd bring that over. And I waited, I got up to go ask and she met me with the items requested, mind you the sugar caddy was also 1/2 full. Finally got to try the coffee and it was fine. The mimosa flight was tasty, they did have dragonfruit and it was like juice. Could be dangerous. Food order went smoothly with a different person and when the food came out we still had no silverware. A friend ended up stealing silverware from nearby tables so those that needed them could eat their food. I ordered the breakfast biscut sandwich and it was tasty. Large enough size to probably feed two peeps. I don't recall someone checking on us after we got our meals until we looked to be finished. I think this was were another trade off in staff happened while trying to settle the bill. We were doing separate checks and I was the third one to pay. Had the sandwich, mimosa flight and coffee. They informed me the coffee went onto my friends bill. They were supposed to refund her (went on Sun, as of today no refund) and charge me. I was super excited to try this place as I heard great reviews however after this experience from the start to finish, there is definitely not a desire to return. Hope they are able to get the issues resolved and provide a more seamless service to future guests. read more

The $0.57 martini from 3-6 p.m was absolutely the bait for me. How can you say no to that? So of course I ordered one, and it was delicious. I would happily do it over and over again. The calamari was good, but the chicken and waffles were a bit different and leaned on the dry side. That said, I'd still definitely come back to try other menu items, especially since they offer such amazing weekday deals. Wait was roughly 25 minutes-- not bad, but could tell that they seemed understaffed. Took a while for someone to address me when I walked up to the host stand, and service was generally slow as we ordered food. Parking surprisingly easy-- decent-sized lot. We ordered a couple of different coffee drinks, which were great (highlighting the cool blue lavender matcha latte). Food was good, not great: we loved the fluffy pancakes; super different and a really nice texture. The shakshuka was ok: didn't quite expect it to be the soupy texture. The earl grey tea was actually very nice as well, so if you're looking for a warm drink option I'd do that. If you've never tried vegemite I'd recommend the flight, it's an interesting choice and worth it if you've never tried it since it gives you some different options. Parking is a bit tough given the location but there is plenty of seating. You may have to wait a bit during peak hours but not too terrible. They got some great music choices playing while you eat but not too loud where you can have a conversation with friends. Our server, Andy, was extremely friendly and gave us a great experience during our visit. Overall 5/5 experience! read more

I'm so glad I tried this place out. Originally from Australia, Austin opened up this place recently! It was delicious. The vibes inside were so fresh, fun, and innovative. There was a lot of people on a Saturday brunch, as expected, but me and my friend got seated right away. The table was a bit too small for the stuff we ordered and the table was very close to other tables, so it was loud, but I didn't mind. I really recommend the Salmon Eggs! smoked Salmon on Toast w/Avocado, Pickled Onions, and Eggs Benedict. Also comes with a side salad. The chicken salt fries were decent. I liked the Yuzu aioli! The restaurant definitely is a vibe, and the wait can be long. But the food/experience is worth it! My friend and I got the Big Brekkie, Vege Breakfast Burrito, Fluffy Pancakes, Churro French Toast, Black Coffee, and Nitro Nutella Hazelnut Latte. All delicious items! Citizens is known for their Fluffy Pancakes but I personally enjoyed the Churro French Toast more (I have a soft spot for French Toast). The staff here provide amazing service and are so friendly. This is the second time that I've gone here in the past 6 months and I'm surprised to say that I've noticed the food quality has gone down, at least that's what I noticed in my dish which I got on both visits. When I went the first time, I was blown away by the warm cheddar biscuit, the creaminess of the beet hummus, the gooey poached eggs, and the crunchy, warm hash brown that was cooked to perfection. All this was gone on this second visit. I ordered the Smashed Avo Benny again and some things that I immediately noticed were different from the first time I had it were: - the beet hummus was dried to my plate so trying to scoop some up with the cheddar biscuit was hard/nearly impossible - the poached eggs in the eggs Benedict had jammy yolks instead of runny, which made eating it drier than I would've thought - the hash brown was over fried and dry. Think about if someone heated up a hash brown, let it cool to room temp, and then tried to re-heat it. That's what I experienced with it. - the cheddar biscuit, though warm was also hard to eat as it felt like it was overcooked in some way This is not what I experienced the first time I went last August and was sad to experience now (in January). Some things that could be improved are making sure the beet hummus doesn't dry out on the plate, fresh hash browns, and taking out the poached eggs early, rather than letting it cook longer. We also tried the blueberry and maple pancake and found that while they raved about it being great because it was a Japanese soufflé pancake style, it was also disappointing as the pancake was not very fluffy or bouncy like a Japanese pancake would be... As for other items, the Green Shakshuka was wonderful, the fried chicken and waffles were good, and the drinks (chai, oat, and matcha lattes) were nice and creamy The waitress was also very sweet and kind to my friends and I and made some nice recommendations! read more

Cute interior! Not sure if the AC was broke, or they just didn't turn it on, but it was quite hot in here. Also, we were assaulted by a battalion of flies, and we were on the inside of the restaurant. And the water did not cool you down, as it was room temperature. Service was perhaps a little bit inattentive for a non-busy day, they took our silverware with the appetizers, but never brought new ones. Korean fried wings were fine, crunchy, but had a pretty strange almost burnt flavor. The fish and chips was tasty, but the portion of fish was disappointing for a $24 entrée. Chicken sandwich was good enough, and I liked the chicken salt fries. We were extremely excited about the menu, but I guess after 3 PM you can't get a sandwich?? it says deli all day online, but not sure if that is just confusion created by the name of this restaurant. Maybe partially our fault for our excitement and expectations for this place, but quite a big letdown. It wouldn't have been so bad if this food was just mid and the prices matched. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, dishes I recommend are the French Toast Classic, Banana Bread French Toast, Eggs Your Way (do add the crispy hashbrowns), Blueberry & Maple Pancakes (so fluffy) and juicy Double Cheeseburger (the fries are so tasty too). A must-try in Austin! I was in Austin visiting a friend and we were looking for a nice lunch spot. One of the friends in the group is going to Australia in 2027 so we had to check this place out! There is easy parking right in front of the restaurant. Which if you've been to Austin, you know, parking can be a challenge, especially downtown. When you walk in, the vibes are retro diner but with a modern twist. There are plants hanging from the ceiling and a giant wrap around bar right in the middle. We were seated right away and knew we had to try the Vegemite Flight. I've never had Vegemite before and thought it was too salty for my taste. But I am glad I can now say I've tried it! I got the chicken caesar salad and it was delicious! Everyone else at the table loved what they ordered. The part that stood out the most was the service. Our server was outstanding and so attentive! Very good food and good ambiance if you are not looking to talk to people. The music is so high that you barely hear other people or the server. The service was HORRIBLE. We had to flag down our server every time we wanted something, to a point that I had to stand up and find someone multiple times. We ordered our drinks right when we got there and we did not get them until AFTER the food got to the table. I could see our order ready in the counter but the staff was too busy talking to each other to bring it to us. However, if you do not care about a very bad service and loud music, the coffee and food was very good, it exceed my expectations. Bacon was an additional $4, and when my burrito arrived, I noticed there was no bacon in it. The waitress (who was very kind and had nothing to do with the situation) took it back to the kitchen. She came back and told me that the kitchen had opened up my burrito and confirmed that the bacon was in there. When I opened my burrito, I found **ONE PIECE of bacon.** How are you going to charge an extra $4 for one piece of bacon?! And I just realized afterward that they also forgot the potatoes that were supposed to be in the burrito. Overall, this was extremely disappointing, and I definitely don't think this place is worth your money. For an $18 burrito, I expected WAY better. read more

Waited 32 minutes for two steak frites done medium rare- and mine was RARE just like what happened to my friend last time. This place cannot cook a steak for their life.m. The steak sauce was a cup of rock hard tar- don't even know how they got it in a ramekin. I actually couldn't get my fork into it. When I told the waiter he was flummoxed and was like what the hell- and showed the manager who literally shrugged at the host stand and went back to his cell phone as the restaurant crashed and burned around him. My only complaint is that the bread that came on the side of my dish was kind of hard and dry, and while I feel that was intentional so that it would be sturdy for dipping into my little pot of yummy shaksuka, I still would have wished for something as elevated as the rest of the meal. I got the regular benedict and the biscuit wasn't very good. Our friends got the skillet and the shakshuka and they both were not tasty and cold despite being in a dutch oven.
