We heard good things about this place and I wanted to love it but from the time we walked in me and my husband was completely ignored by more than 7 people before we were acknowledged and they were not busy. When we were finally approached the lady that approached us was nice and attentive. Our waitress was nice and friendly but she was manning a lot of tables for some reason. The food was pretty but ok. I got the original pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs. The pancakes came with strawberries, blueberries, bananas and syrup. The syrup was mixed with butter and it was a little too much butter which was off putting if you don't like a lot of butter. The pancakes were fluffy looking but tasted like a version of jiffy cornbread. I ate the fruit. The eggs were not scrambled really. I just felt like they put them in a bowl, scrambled with fork and put them on the grill but forgot to scramble them a little bit to cook the top of the eggs and then plated. The top of eggs was wet. I'm not a fan of raw eggs which happen to come out after I was done trying the pancakes and fruit. The ambiance was pretty in teal the music was perfectly light. I have heard wonderful things from friends about this place and so glad I finally came to give it a try. The Smoked salmon Benny was so good and I was glad I ordered it. The smoked salmon was good paired with their hollandaise sauce and the serving was perfect. I felt like the breakfast was not greasy (like you can get at other places) and this plate was well balanced. I could not decide between the greens or the hashbrown so I decided to get the greens with a side of hashbrowns. The greens were quite literally thrown greens on a plate. Not dressed up, just added for the presentation. Hashbrowns: These were nothing special. I would say if you don't want greens you can switch them out, but they are not worth a whole side order. I just wouldn't say they were anything special compared to what you can probably buy at the store or make at home. I forgot the name of the sandwich, but it was also subpar. Again nothing I would not and could not make at home. Blue matcha and Lavendar: I got the iced and hot blue matcha and Lavendar because why not! If I came back for anything, I would absolutely come back for these drinks. I can't say if it's better hot or cold, but I highly suggest if looking for a drink on this menu. I also must say their plating was a job well done and made these picture perfect food photos. As for staff, I think staff was friendly and helpful as a first timer. Ambiance was also really cute when considering a brunch spot. I would bring my family here or a time with friends. That said, I think this is where the restaurant really executed. The ambiance was sweet so you are going for the experience. All that said, if I came back it would likely be for drinks. I thought it was okay and the food can be improved. When I had brunch with my bf, we each got drinks and an entree for ourselves for brunch. I got the blue matcha & lavender latte, which had the perfect amount of sweetness! If you are sensitive to sweet lattes, it might not be a good fit, but it was the perfect amount for me! For my entree, I got the Smashing Avo Benny, which included smashed avocado, poached eggs, and hollandaise, all on top of flavorful cheddar biscuits and garnished with beet hummus. Service definitely fell short this day. First time here and got there a few minutes late for a 9:30 am reservation. Upon entering the place and vibe was amazing, loved the vintage sinage along with the booths/bar seating. I told the gentlemen the name on the reservation and he said there was no reservation under that name. I got a drip coffee w/Cream and sugar and then the mimosa flight. She said they didn't have dragonfruit so I could do grapefruit which wasn't an option sooo double up something. About five minutes later someone came to inform me alcohol can't be served before 10 am on Sunday so I had to wait the 20 minutes. Wouldn't that be good for the staff taking the order to know and inform the guest? The coffee and mimosa came out without issue, other than the coffee did not come with cream/sugar as requested and remember, no silverware? I waited as they said they'd bring that over. And I waited, I got up to go ask and she met me with the items requested, mind you the sugar caddy was also 1/2 full. Finally got to try the coffee and it was fine. The mimosa flight was tasty, they did have dragonfruit and it was like juice. Could be dangerous. Food order went smoothly with a different person and when the food came out we still had no silverware. A friend ended up stealing silverware from nearby tables so those that needed them could eat their food. I ordered the breakfast biscut sandwich and it was tasty. Large enough size to probably feed two peeps. I don't recall someone checking on us after we got our meals until we looked to be finished. I think this was were another trade off in staff happened while trying to settle the bill. We were doing separate checks and I was the third one to pay. Had the sandwich, mimosa flight and coffee. They informed me the coffee went onto my friends bill. They were supposed to refund her (went on Sun, as of today no refund) and charge me. I was super excited to try this place as I heard great reviews however after this experience from the start to finish, there is definitely not a desire to return. We ordered a couple of different coffee drinks, which were great (highlighting the cool blue lavender matcha latte). Citizens All Day is an easy go-to now! The breakfast burrito and the yogurt & granola were soooo good! The breakfast burrito was surprisingly light and not too heavy. The earl grey tea was actually very nice as well, so if you're looking for a warm drink option I'd do that. If you've never tried vegemite I'd recommend the flight, it's an interesting choice and worth it if you've never tried it since it gives you some different options. Parking is a bit tough given the location but there is plenty of seating. You may have to wait a bit during peak hours but not too terrible. They got some great music choices playing while you eat but not too loud where you can have a conversation with friends. I'm so glad I tried this place out. Originally from Australia, Austin opened up this place recently! It was delicious. The vibes inside were so fresh, fun, and innovative. There was a lot of people on a Saturday brunch, as expected, but me and my friend got seated right away. The table was a bit too small for the stuff we ordered and the table was very close to other tables, so it was loud, but I didn't mind. Very good food and good ambiance if you are not looking to talk to people. The music is so high that you barely hear other people or the server. The service was HORRIBLE. We had to flag down our server every time we wanted something, to a point that I had to stand up and find someone multiple times. We ordered our drinks right when we got there and we did not get them until AFTER the food got to the table. I could see our order ready in the counter but the staff was too busy talking to each other to bring it to us. However, if you do not care about a very bad service and loud music, the coffee and food was very good, it exceed my expectations. Waited 32 minutes for two steak frites done medium rare- and mine was RARE just like what happened to my friend last time. This place cannot cook a steak for their life.m. The steak sauce was a cup of rock hard tar- don't even know how they got it in a ramekin. I actually couldn't get my fork into it. When I told the waiter he was flummoxed and was like what the hell- and showed the manager who literally shrugged at the host stand and went back to his cell phone as the restaurant crashed and burned around him. This is the second time that I've gone here in the past 6 months and I'm surprised to say that I've noticed the food quality has gone down, at least that's what I noticed in my dish which I got on both visits. When I went the first time, I was blown away by the warm cheddar biscuit, the creaminess of the beet hummus, the gooey poached eggs, and the crunchy, warm hash brown that was cooked to perfection. All this was gone on this second visit. I ordered the Smashed Avo Benny again and some things that I immediately noticed were different from the first time I had it were: - the beet hummus was dried to my plate so trying to scoop some up with the cheddar biscuit was hard/nearly impossible - the poached eggs in the eggs Benedict had jammy yolks instead of runny, which made eating it drier than I would've thought - the hash brown was over fried and dry. Think about if someone heated up a hash brown, let it cool to room temp, and then tried to re-heat it. That's what I experienced with it. - the cheddar biscuit, though warm was also hard to eat as it felt like it was overcooked in some way This is not what I experienced the first time I went last August and was sad to experience now (in January). Some things that could be improved are making sure the beet hummus doesn't dry out on the plate, fresh hash browns, and taking out the poached eggs early, rather than letting it cook longer. We also tried the blueberry and maple pancake and found that while they raved about it being great because it was a Japanese soufflé pancake style, it was also disappointing as the pancake was not very fluffy or bouncy like a Japanese pancake would be... As for other items, the Green Shakshuka was wonderful, the fried chicken and waffles were good, and the drinks (chai, oat, and matcha lattes) were nice and creamy The waitress was also very sweet and kind to my friends and I and made some nice recommendations! read more

Wow! Where to start? First of all, I've been wanting to come here for a long time. I pass it a couple of times a month enroute to dental appointments. Also, they have NYC and Houston locations that are on my list to check out. Not anymore. Had a planned brekkie with three friends. I arrived at the same time as one of the friends in our party, and I notified the host of my reservation. He asked seating preference and we opted for the patio on a perfect Austin weather day. Our two other friends arrived a few minutes later and were told there were no reservations under my name. What?!? Luckily they found us on the patio. So that was problem #1 which could have been overlooked. Our server came by and I'd asked about a single TimTam (it's on the website menu but not the paper menu). Basically, you can buy a piece from the candy bar and I thought it would be the perfect little treat after my meal. The server advised they only sell singles if a pack is already open but that she would check and get back to me. She never did. Why? Because then we had a second server who came and took our order. That's problem #2 and again could have been overlooked but it was now the second questionable situation we'd had. We place our orders and the food comes out. However, we were not provided with any flatware or napkins. One of the members of our party had to walk to another table (empty table) to gather utensils for our use. That's problem #3. Problem #4 we weren't offered condiments of any sort. I had to ask for salt and pepper and another friend asked for ketchup. They brought the condiments to us only to find that the salt shaker was empty. That would be problem #5. Once we were finally able to eat, all was good. The food was well-made, plated nicely, and very tasty. We were all very happy with our meals. We relaxed, chatted, and enjoyed ourselves until...you guessed it, problem #6. Our server came back so that we could pay our checks. We opted for separate checks and she confirmed what each of us had. She checked me out and by that I mean she handed me the little device and I paid. As I was doing so, she walked away. A minute later another sever appeared bringing problem #7. We asked why so many servers and we were told it's a team service experience they provide. Servers walking away without a word is a problem. Problem #8-the new server had to reconfirm the remaining items with the rest of my group. Why did they have to keep repeating this? Server #2 should have never walked away until we were all confirmed and paid. Guess what that team mentality caused? You guessed it, problem #9 which is I was charged for my friend's coffee and didn't even realize it. Meaning server #2 screwed up even after confirming my order for payment. I didn't even realize any of this happened. My friend who drank the coffee had them add it to her bill and told them to refund me. Now I'll be checking my bank account simply because of principle. We had a lovely day as we always do when this group is together. The food really was good but do you see how the importance of the food is lost because of poor customer service? And, it was poor. Sad to say, because of the shoddy customer service I'll never return. I should note that with three servers not once did anyone check on us to see if we needed anything throughout our time there. I mean, really? Great job, team (heavy sarcasm)!! Austin has SO MANY amazing places with delicious food AND excellent service. They'll get my hard-earned money. Citizens All Day will not. A must-try in Austin! I was in Austin visiting a friend and we were looking for a nice lunch spot. One of the friends in the group is going to Australia in 2027 so we had to check this place out! There is easy parking right in front of the restaurant. Which if you've been to Austin, you know, parking can be a challenge, especially downtown. When you walk in, the vibes are retro diner but with a modern twist. There are plants hanging from the ceiling and a giant wrap around bar right in the middle. We were seated right away and knew we had to try the Vegemite Flight. I've never had Vegemite before and thought it was too salty for my taste. But I am glad I can now say I've tried it! I got the chicken caesar salad and it was delicious! Everyone else at the table loved what they ordered. The part that stood out the most was the service. Our server was outstanding and so attentive! I came here with my girlfriend after making a reservation the day before, and the experience was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in Austin. We were seated at a cramped table that barely fit our food. Two empty water cups were placed in front of us and left untouched for over 10 minutes before our server came to take our drink order, with no water offered. About 20 minutes later, she returned to take our food order, and still no drinks, still no water. She had clearly forgotten both. We had to stop her and ask for water before she could even take our food order. When the water came, it was undrinkable. It tasted like it came straight from the tap, and the glasses were visibly unclean. My girlfriend's cup had a film on the inside of it. We stuck to our ordered drinks after that. On to the food. The pancakes were fine. Everything else was not. My girlfriend's breakfast burrito was soggy, the tortilla was falling apart, and it had almost no flavor. My Classic Breakfast came out with toast I had specifically swapped for hash browns, which was annoying, but not the biggest issue. The bigger issue was that there was hair in my eggs and on the dish itself. I have a photo that shows it clearly. The servers had disappeared after dropping the food, so no one came to check on us. When someone finally did, I reported the issue. The server took the plate back with no apology and had it remade. The second attempt was worse. They brought toast again despite my substitution. More importantly, after already remaking the dish due to a serious hygiene issue, they still could not get the order right. I had asked for turkey bacon. They brought pork bacon instead and it was scattered all over the rest of the food. This is not about being a difficult customer. I placed a clear, simple order, it came out wrong the first time with hair in it, and when given a second chance to get it right, they still failed on every modification I had requested. The eggs were cold. The hash browns were cold and stale. The server set it down without a word and walked away. We ended up not eating my dish at all. I told the server to just bring the check. She said she needed to get her manager, and we waited another 10 minutes. The general manager came out, comped the food items (not the drinks), and gave us the first and only real apology of the entire visit. The server never apologized for the food situation once. I also want to note that shortly after we were seated at our cramped table, another party that appeared to be non-Asian was seated after us at a noticeably larger and more spacious table. The contrast was hard to ignore, and given the pattern I found in other reviews after leaving, it did not feel like a coincidence. After leaving, I looked through the recent low reviews on both Yelp and Google. There is a noticeable pattern worth mentioning: a significant number of the critical reviews are from Asian customers, several of whom have raised concerns about how they were treated. As an Asian customer myself who experienced dismissive service, two consecutive botched plates, and what appeared to be preferential seating given to other guests, I will leave that for others to read and decide. I had visited once before with a larger group and had no issues, which is what made this so disappointing. Based on what I experienced and what other reviewers have described, I cannot recommend this place and will not be returning. read more

I came here on a Sunday and it was crowded. Glad that I made reservations. It took maybe 15 minutes to get seated. The restaurant was loud due to the number of people inside the restaurant plus the loud music going on that the restaurant was playing. The waitress was nice and funny, making jokes about how loud it was and if we needed her to just wave since she might not hear us. I got the chicken and waffle. Sadly, the waffle was burned and overcooked. The chicken, on the other hand, was moist and flavorful. I also got a nitro salted caramel latte which was nice and smooth. Beautiful space, chic, warm, and inviting. Service is relaxed but friendly. Food is simple but prepared well with quality ingredients. Got the mushroom risotto which was cooked well (not too al dente which I don't like but not mushy either) and the rigatoni alla vodka which was tasty. Pretty dang good!! Fabulous service. The wait staff was amazing. So friendly, outgoing, but also quick and very aware of anything you need. Happy hour prices were also a good deal. Big serving sizes for very reasonable prices. Drinks around $5-$10 and appetizers $9-$15. However, the portions are large!!!!! Korean chicken wings were $9 and was 3 large pieces of chicken, I was impressed. Atmosphere was very cool as well. So I don't realize that this was the same citizens as the one in Houston. I thought it was really good. My mom and I went and both got the pulled pork Benny. It was so good. We both got lattes that were delicious and the pineapple green juice was super good! Service was quick and good. Coffees did take awhile but we were not in a hurry. Cute, fun decor. The Good: I came here for a goodbye brunch with my husband and MIL before she flew back home. the service was friendly and provided good recs as a first-timer, we were able to get seated quickly without a reservation. There is a lot more seating than you may initially think because they have a patio on the side and even covered seating in the back. As for food, I liked the citrus revival fluffy drink and the banana bread French toast. The Bad: we sat on the patio and there were a lot of flies, which became a nuisance. I wish they would have turned on the fans to help scatter them. At the end, we saw another table with the fly swatter. It would have been nice to know they were available. Also the service became slower after we ordered and got our food. My hubby got the breakfast burrito and my MIL got the salmon Benny. They both liked their food. He also got the hash browns and I thought they were plain by themselves and good with the sauce provided. I ordered the Green Goddess, but it didn't come. When I first asked about it, they said it would be right out. Luckily, we had ordered the banana bread French toast to share so I had something. But, the Green Goddess never arrived. When the server came to check in, I told them to cancel it as we were almost done eating. And that was it, they apologized but didn't do anything else to rectify that they literally forgot a whole meal after I inquired about it and they claimed it would be right out. read more
