Okay this was kind of a hidden gem for me. Not a lot of places do Banh xeo in this area. so when I saw it on the menu, I had to check it out. The parking is ridiculous. So many people camped inside the neighboring stores so not a lot of parking spots readily available. And once you've passed through, you can really turn back around without leaving the whole plaza. The restaurant is quite outdated with furniture and silverware. There's a small tv for your leisure... booths are basically all broken lol Anyway, the owner took my order and was very nice. And personable. Seems like this spot is owned by a husband wife duo. I got the pork Banh xeo and it was perfectly crispy. Char sui pork is used for this protein option but the flavors were not too strong or over powering. The veggie garnishment were fresh and clean. Loved the spiralized carrot. I've lived near this place for a while but never tried it until today. What drew me in was spotting Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese Crepe) on the menu. The owner was friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the Bánh Xèo and the egg rolls. The egg rolls were great--crispy, flavorful, and served with an authentic fish sauce dip that tied everything together perfectly. As for the Bánh Xèo, I chose the chicken option. I have to admit I was a little disappointed, though I'm not entirely sure if my expectations were off or if that's just how it's supposed to be. The crepe itself is a bright yellow from turmeric and has a subtle coconut flavor. The texture was chewy in a pleasant way. However, the filling mostly consisted of cold bean sprouts, which felt like it stacked up but didn't add much substance. I also wished there was more chicken, and that the chicken had been seasoned better. I did enjoy wrapping bites of the Bánh Xèo in salad leaves and dipping them in the sauce--it tasted good. Still, the overall experience with this dish wasn't entirely satisfying, mostly because of the portion size and balance of ingredients. That said, I appreciate that this item was on the menu, as it gave me the chance to try something different. Overall, I think my unfamiliarity with this dish might have shaped my expectations. Becoming one of our frequent visits. The food here is fantastic. A big fan of their pho a crepes. Atmosphere is very pleasant and the service is beyond friendly. Many neighbors swing in to pick up take-out and are often greeted by name and conversation. That says a lot about a place. My friend took me to lunch here and I am very happy that they did. Upon walking in, we got a very warm greeting from the owner who was very welcoming and accommodating. We ordered tofu spring rolls as an appetizer and lemongrass tofu as our entree. Both plates were absolutely incredible. My favorite had to be the lemongrass tofu served on a bed of rice. The sauce was rich in flavor and smelled/tasted incredible. You can tell that they put a lot of love into what they cook. The ambiance is pretty laid back. The inside is gorgeous, parking is easy, and the staff was kind. Also, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the lemongrass tofu and I have never had tofu so flavorful before. I've been working near Yaya's and never tried them out, now I can't wait to see what else there is to explore. My oooonly note for my lemongrass tofu was that the lettuce cut was pretty thick so it was a tad harder to eat then if it was cut smaller, but still, the lettuce was fresh and vibrant. So delicious. The atmosphere was great. They have electric plugs against the wall so if you want to hang out here and do some work and or be on your computer, this is a perfect quaint place to hangout at. I entered this restaurant urgently needing to use the restroom after much walking before I met my Uber at Yaya cafe; the owner (?) was insistent that I not proceed beyond the service counter to the bathrooms unless I was a customer which to an extent I understand but it was far from a warm welcome. I purchased this tea after I very quickly used the restroom thinking it'd be a simple and safe purchase. I've had a lot of Thai tea in my life and this doesn't taste right, at all. A bit pricey but the quality is pretty high for what you order! I ordered the shaken beef with the vermicelli and it was super refreshing! The service was prompt and welcoming. I liked the pho here. The owner was overly effusive for 8:15 PM, it was endearing. The banh mi was pretty good, kinda pricey but whatever. I wonder if these guys have been sweating (like I inevitably do each and every time after I eat an entire bowl of pho after putting sriracha in it LOL!) since Sip set up shop down the street. But despite toeing in on their turf, the competition has, in a way, helped Yaya carve out a niche -- I have a feeling the dine-in experience here is a lot more intimate and less hectic than Sip's (which in MY experience, is a fucking zoo). Yaya Cafe has a standard Asian restaurant menu with a few staples and solid dishes. Adjacent to a Starbucks, I often come here as it offers a relatively quiet atmosphere and free Wi-Fi! That's amazing! It's a great place to slow down, eat some Vietnamese food casually, and enjoy their Viet. Coffee or tea(make sure to specify how sweet you want your coffee if your picky with bitterness). The owner and his extremely limited staff equally pull their weight--and it's obvious with their service--regardless, if they are busy or slow! My boyfriend and I have gotten takeout from here a few times now. They are super friendly and helpful with dietary needs. The pho is gluten free and you can get it with a beef bone broth or vegetable broth. So lots of gluten free and veggie options. I always enjoy the pho, even if it's a lot of sodium--you can taste it. It's my go-to when a pho craving hits. Good portion for the price too. My boyfriend really likes the chicken fried rice. Was walking in the area and decided to stop by Yaya. Very friendly staff and clean restaruant. While looking over the menu, I decided on getting the fried egg rolls and the wonton soup. The wonton soup was great, however I've had many wonton soups that never had cilantro in them. I did try the soup with the cilatnro but found myself avoiding it after a few minutes. While I LOVE cilantro it wasn't working for me in the wonton soup in my opinion. The broth though was very delicious. The fried egg rolls took the cake for me. Crispy. Sweet chili sauce. Lemongrass tofu. It doesn't sound like it would be all that appetizing to many people, but it's delicious. Each cube is full of flavor, and it doesn't taste like grass contrary to what the name might have you think. Each dish I've had here has been good, and the tofu is part of it. The rice noodles are prepared well - good consistency, and they soak up the flavor of whatever sauce or broth they're served with well. I haven't really had much Vietnamese food in Austin (aside from banh mi, but I haven't tried one here yet) so I can't really compare, but every table does have a bottle of hoisin sauce and sriracha, so they know what they're doing. The staff is friendly, and like a true Asian establishment, they don't really bother you much at all once you get your food. I do think it's a little more pricey for Vietnamese food than most other places I've seen, but it's worth it every so often for a hot bowl of pho (and it does stay hot for a while) and some Vietnamese coffee. Miscellaneous tidbits, if it's helpful: there's a small parking lot, there are 3 TVs or so, and you go up to the counter to pay after you're done eating. read more

Perfectly fine everyday Vietnamese. We have eaten here several times. We always leave happy. My most recent meal was a crepe with tofu and vegetables inside. It was good as a scrambled egg breakfast at a good diner. Don't expect any exotica on the menu. Don't expect a once-in-a-lifetime peak experience. But you are not going to get anything bad either. If you just need to "check into the dining hall" to get fed, You will be fed and taken care of here. No unpleasantness. No bad surprises.
