It's that truly great, midwestern feel sandwich shop that you get before your day on the boat, the kind that keeps you going all day, and keeps you coming back for more! After saying "we need to go there" at least 30 times, we finally went there and boyyy howdy it did not disappoint! The Cuban and club were 10/10 perfect! The bread was so fresh, crispy where it needed to be, and buttery in all the right places. It was a perfectly balanced sandwich ratio, not too thick, not too thin, and came with chips or potato salad. The in-house beer is great, and there's something for anyone's tastes, plus non alcoholic options. We sat outside with our pups on the dog friendly patio, which is fully covered and shaded, with tons of great seating options. Handsome Dans was on our list because of all the online and social media hype. It's tucked away in the back next to Stargazer in a brewery/ warehouse off Springdale and Airport area. The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. The atmosphere has so much promise... if there had not been a DJ blasting the entire space from the adjacent coffee shop. I guess I wasn't in the mood to yell to converse over the skeet skeet godd*mn motherf**kers for lunch. We got the Grilled Cheese, the Club, the Roast Beef, and the Caesar Sandwich. Came here before a UT basketball game and it was a good experience overall. The sandwiches were hot and it had a solid atmosphere in a up and coming east Austin neighborhood. The servers did have a bit of an attitude and seemed pretty annoyed/ short with us for no good reason, but we just chalk it up to modern Austin establishments. Tbh it's such a good little spot that hits the spot! every once in a while i get the urge eat something chili cheesed (who doesn't? amiright? ) and this is the place! The frito pie "snack" was just what the dr ordered! They also offer half sandwiches, which is great when you want to try a few things bc a full sandwich is HUGE. a very cute and casual drop in counter eats. Service was not as quick as you'd think, considering it wasn't busy but honestly it was fine bc once you taste the food, it's all forgiven. t's located in springdale station which came be hard to navigate as there's not really signs telling where which businesses are- If you're looking at it from the street, it's in the back right corner. cheers! read more

Visited here for the first time and really enjoyed the sandwiches. I tried the Tuna Melt as well as the Caprese with capicola and they were both delicious. The hostess was nice and it didn't take long for our food to be completed. They have an indoor and outdoor space which we liked and it wasn't too crowded so we were able to find a seat and have good conversation. The pricing felt pretty fair as well. I really enjoyed the tuna sandwich the most and would definitely be back to have that again. I'm not sure if they have cider but I know they had some IPAs. They were partnering with Eastside Beer Runners to celebrate their 9th birthday and were offering drink specials and 25% off all food. I wasn't planning on buying food, but the menu here looked appealing with many sandwiches and beer to choose from. You place your order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to notify you when your food is ready. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. We ended up sitting at a table outside. I ordered the Classic Italian sandwich that comes with Cenoa salami, mortadella, spicy capicola, aged provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onions, mayo and homemade italian dressing on ciabatta bread. It was served with the bread warm in a basket with your choice of potato chips or potato salad as a side. I went with the potato salad that was very tasty with a bite from the paprika on top. The sandwich was a large portion size and I was only able to finish half and took the other half to-go. Overall an enjoyable experience with good food and excited to try other items on their menu. I was at a 9th birthday party event for a run club, and Handsome Dan's was offering 20% off of any order. The line was incredibly long, so we waited until a raffle was over and swooped in. There were sandwiches and 3 snack items. One was a Frito Pie, but they were sold out. I ordered an all beef hot dog, without the bun. Not very exotic, but it was just the protein I wanted. It was ready pretty quickly. They offered onions and condiments, along with a bag of Miss Vicky potato chips in the desired flavor. I chose Sea Salt. It was a good light dinner after my run. It's like bodega meets cabin meets sandwich shop. Amazing selection of GINORMOUS sandwiches all for around twelve bucks. The portions can definitely be shared. These sandwiches are stacked high with meats, cheeses, etc. I love the Italian sandwich and my boyfriend is crazy for the Cubano! They've got other food as well like super fresh soft pretzels.
