Tried Sip Pho for the first time and had a great experience. As soon as we walked in, the restaurant felt very clean with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. You place your order at the front before being seated, which was an easy process. The staff was friendly, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and my husband ordered the Sip Pho. Both broths were rich and flavorful. The portions were generous, and they definitely did not skimp on the meat. My Bun Bo Hue came with a beef rib that was tender and delicious. One unique thing was the noodles in the Sip pho bowl--they were slightly thicker than vermicelli, which was different but not a big deal. For drinks, I ordered the Matcha Green Thai Tea. We were willing to sit separately and there was plenty of open tables. After a little back and forth with multiple staff we left. I was so hungry, and the food was so good, that I forgot to take a picture! However, I got the vegan noodles, and it was very filling, delicious, and a great bang for your buck! They really only had two vegan options: pho or dry noodles. I got the dry noodles, and again, it was delicious! It was one of the best places I tried in Austin, TX! My friends, who do eat meat, were also very happy and full with the meal. The location was walking distance from the University, and the decor inside was very cute! It was quaint and clean! All the girls working there were very nice and helpful. My only piece of feedback was that going there with a large party is a bit difficult. Parking was incredibly limited. The line wrapped outside of the building. I waited in line well over 30 minutes. When I finally got to the register to order, I was told that only to-go orders would be taken as the restaurant was closing soon. In my opinion this is a terrible customer experience. If the restaurant was going to only offer take out ordering after a certain time, this should have been communicated well in advance. If restaurant staff actually informed us while in the line, I would have gone elsewhere since I was looking for an in restaurant dining experience. Usually busy, so there may be a line. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Quick eats kinda ambiance. I've tried many things off their menu: Pho The Works - it is their beef pho with EVERYTHING in it. I'd go with just their choose 2 meat option and do their filet mignon and brisket or meatballs. The rest is like tendon, tripe, and fatty stuff. If anyone around UT is seeking quality pho, I'll for sure suggest Sip Pho. Especially if you have a UT ID, 10% off discount! This place is almost always busy! There are some parking spots in the front and more in the back, but sometimes it still takes a bit of time to get a spot. There are many indoor seats and several outdoor tables in the back. The staff is friendly, helps introduce the menu, and is proactive about dietary restrictions. Vegetarian and vegan options are available! We came for lunch on a weekday, and about half of the indoor seats were occupied. Bun Bo Hue is a classic dish. The amount of meat in this dish is very satisfying. In addition to the beef rib, there are also meatballs, ham, and beef slices. The beef slices are added to the bowl raw and cooked when the boiling hot broth is added, so by the time the dish is at your table, the beef slices are still very tender! The broth is just spicy enough for an extra kick for the flavor. The second item we ordered may not be listed on the standard menu, but it is available! I asked for eggroll vermicelli. Vermicelli and fresh veggies with fish sauce are very appetizing on a hot summer day. As a Taiwanese person, I especially enjoy the pickled cabbage. The sweet and sour taste is very authentic; just a small bite sends me right back home. The self-serve topping bar provides lime slices, cilantro, jalapeno, and red onion for anyone wanting extra flavors.
