3.6/5 Very cool concept and insta worthy. Love the nice low lighting inside and their comfortable booths. Food wasn't that great though. We ordered the spaceballs, trio, corn ribs and steak. None of them really stood out. Maybe the corn ribs had the most flavor but I found the other dishes to be quite bland and not memorable. Service was good although they did give us the check too soon even though the place wasn't busy.
A very unique take on the dinning experience. The atmosphere is a Modern Jetson style where a conveyor belt robot brings you your food and drinks as they are ready. It's quite fun and you never know which dish is going to come by next. The food is an eclectic mix of ingredients and flavors with interesting takes on standard dishes. The food is meant to be shared. Standouts were the Space Balls, Corn Ribs, Crispy Rice Trio and the Hamachi in Leche de Tigre. All were freshly made and delicious. You can easily see their attention to detail in the preparation and the mixture of ingredients really work. Service was fantastic.
Ok, I got here with a reservation for 7pm and I was seated at 7.45pm, that's unacceptable with a previous reservation. I complained a few times and I got a glass of champagne but still...I was about to leave to another place. The ambiance at this place is very upscale and futuristic, the robots are the ones serving you the meal and drinks, they stop right next to your table and you have less than a minute to grab your plate before they leave. Alright, the food here is OUTSTANDING! I'm Glad I stayed but they seriously need a better system for their reservation and seating charts. Might come back, not sure...
This place is a full vibe. I visited with a group of friends and loved the ambience. Beautifully space-inspired with dreamy lighting and cloud-like ceiling structures that really set the mood. I ordered the Venus Seduction, which was delicious, and their in-house crafted cocktail menu was impressive. We tried a variety of dishes including garlic fries, corn ribs, mushroom risotto, mezze platter and sliders. Everything was well-portioned and great for sharing. The risotto and Ube Panna Cotta were the highlights for me. Definitely a spot I'd visit again.
Space Cowboy is a fun, futuristic and sci-fi forward restaurant and bar on East 7th Street in Austin, TX. Your food and drinks are delivered by robot, i.e. spaceships. How cool is that? Being at Space Cowboy makes you feel like you are in fantastical, mythical world. The vibe is sci-fi like with these cool lighting fixtures...it looks like the convergence of chicken wire and Christmas lights. This would be a cool place to take someone visiting Austin for the first time. Menu features tapas like dishes. Space balls and inked seafood risotto were uniquely prepared...full of flavor and texture-forward. I would definitely bring back visitors to the restaurant if nothing more than to see the robots.
For the cosmic traveler at heart, with a foodie soul within! Listen! I enjoyed my time fully at Space Cowboy. Pictures don't do this place justice. It is so clean, mellow, and yet so full of cosmic wonder. It's decorated so nicely. Shout out to my robot waiter friend Kyle. My waitress was amazing and so helpful when figuring out when to order! I enjoyed mostly everything that I ate Corn rib - yum! I loved the extra spice. The corn was easy to eat and full of flavor in every single bite. Space balls- if you like ceviche, you would like this ! It was flavorful and the crunchy layer was perfect. Short rib and vanilla mashed potatoes.- The potatoes shocked me with the hint of vanilla, the balance was perfect. I loved my short ribs! Very juicy and flavoral protein for sure. This is a beautiful dish that's executed well. Alien blood drink - it had A very tropical vibe and wasn't too strong! The cotton candy was complimentary and I loved it. My dessert was a pear tart dessert with vanilla ice cream. It isn't on the menu. I didn't enjoy it. The crust on it was good. But it fell short for some reason. The vanilla ice cream was perfect!

Full of flavor and unique. Not ordinary hummus Ribeye sliders: would definitely get again. Tender meat and not too small. Octopus: okay, but very little of it and a little rubbery. Service was excellent! The spaceship trolly delivery was a hit with my daughter. Ambiance is nice but a little too dark.
Space Cowboy is such a fun experience! Blend robots with fine dining and you have yourself a one of a kind spot. It's obvious that the little food and drink delivery robots are a super fun part of this, and they definitely are! However, our server was super great, chill, and relatable which helped our experience be really good. We had a table of 6 and made a reservation, I recommend doing so! They have an extensive cocktail menu, ranging from $15-$50, so whatever you're in the mood for at whatever level, they'll have something for you. As a martini drinker, I loved the 3 speciality martinis they had, and went with the olive oil. It was different but I liked it! I also had some Prosecco which is always a hit. We shared some apps, and my favorites were the torched crispy rice trip. The salmon was fantastic, I just wish the servings were a bit bigger for the price. I also had the beef filet for an entree. The vanilla mashed potatoes it came with had me intrigued, and they were really good! Not super sweet as I was expecting. The steak was cooked correctly which was good as well! They brought me out some cotton candy for my birthday (as big as my head) which was a nice touch. I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
I was in Austin recently for a bachelors party, and we gave this spot a go, and it was well worth it From the outside the place wasn't particularly flashy, but still modern. But as soon as you walked through the doors you are transported into this amazing nighttime desert scape restaurant. There are art installations everywhere that work so well together. The cacti, the clouds, and the color palette was so cool to experience. You will see self-delivery cars rolling seating head level around the restaurant delivering food, and I'll describe that more below There are plenty of seating options in the main dining area. None of the tables felt particularly crowded or overly close to other tables. The setting is so intimately lit (dessert night) that you really don't get the overall "noise" and distraction of the other tables, just yours and the decor The menu offers a variety of shareable, entrees, and other delicious dishes. There's also a drink menu to pursue their signature artisanal. Everything was incredible. The drinks were gorgeous and satiating. The meals were hearty and flavorful. We left happy and full The staff were great. They walked us through the menu, the restaurant concept, and they were very attentive and helpful The little self delivery teams were the main pull. Similar to sushi restaurants that have conveyor belts or robots delivering or offering food, this restaurant has these tracks that retro looking miniature train cars roll on. They pass by your table at eye level, they are fairly quiet, and it's fun to watch. When they stop at your table they will either have their little doors open or they will open. You will have like 5-10 seconds to take pictures and grab your drinks or appetizers and then the trams are off again Some tips: I would definitely recommend reservations for this spot I would definitely order a handful of shareable for the table. They are self delivered on the little trams, and it's exciting, they are delicious, and it's a great experience. I'd also consider order a handful of different entrees and potentially sharing them Try their signature drinks. We drink virtually all of them and there wasn't a bad one. Each one is beautiful and appetizing to look at, and having them delivered by the self driving little trams is so fun Cheers!!
I set up a group of 8 for some coworkers and we all left really happy after some amazing food and service. Bonus points for the delivery system... the only non-sushi place I've ever seen with this kind of service. Oh.. and the food was great. I had the smoked chicken which was perfectly done.
2nd time here. Parking is slim but they do have a parking lot. Reservation recommended. Love the ambiance and service was great, I love the crudo. It's light, almost has a Thai flavor to it. Seafood risotto is another one of my favorites. The squid ink and the Parmesan cheese balance each other. The ribeye while a decent portion was very chewy and honestly we make better steaks at home from HEB.

One of the most memorable parts was the little robots delivering food to the tables. They brought our drinks over and it made the whole experience feel playful. Of course we had to record it. Our group was pretty lively and our server was fantastic. They leaned into the energy of our table and really added to the night while still providing great service. For food, we ordered the stardust fries, seared beef fillet, and duck ravioli. The beef fillet was solid, but the duck ravioli was my favorite. The sauce was so creamy and delicious that I ended up dipping the beef in it too. We loved all the drinks we tried. I ordered the special, which tasted like a filtered piña colada and felt really unique. I also had the Smoke House, which was a solid mezcal margarita. To end the night, our server brought out cotton candy for the table which was such a fun touch. Overall this place made the night feel memorable and I would definitely recommend checking it out.
I'm not sure why this place has such good reviews. It has to be based on the experience. We only ordered space balls and roasted octopus. The service is a unique but you have a waitress any way. I ordered a drink but he couldn't sub gin for vodka which is strange. The space balls were just not good at all. The tuna was not seasoned the sauce was like mayo and some seasonings. The octopus came with barely cooked slices of potato and overcooked black sausage. The sauces were butter, green something that tasted like peas and oil. 75$ later we just passed on anymore food.
I love Space Cowboy! Whenever I come to Austin, I always make a stop here for dinner. They're always able to accommodate small or large parties, but I tend to make a reservation every time. There's a pretty big lot in the front for parking as well! This time our experience wasn't the same as past times I've been because it seemed like only 2 robots were working. Nonetheless, the food came out quickly. They offer lots of mocktails here which is nice! My favorites to always get are the stardust fries, the corn ribs with hummus, and the short ribs! The fries are perfectly seasoned and crispy. The corn ribs with the chili oil crunch are phenomenal! They only come with 2~ per dish so plan accordingly when ordering! The sliders are always surprisingly good! I think the crudo and the baba ghanoush can be a skip -- a lot of our table felt the crudo was a bit too fishy and the flatbread was almost crumbly! For dessert, we tried their new pear tart and it is phenomenal! It is flaky and has a nice smoky caramel flavor to it! We also always get the chocolate ganache and banana ice cream. Came here on a Sunday evening with family (4 of us total) and we were seated right away. I loved the ambiance and decor inside including the sparkly flooring in the bathroom without being tacky. There is a track along each table where a robot will drop off dishes directly to the table. Our server recommended that each person order at least 2-3 dishes (1-2 small dishes and 1 main dish). Our table shared the following: -Space balls (salmon tartare, goat cheese, tangerine, capers, puri; tuna tartare, lemongrass, cilantro, ponzu, puri) -Hamachi (coconut leche de tigre, lemongrass, ginger, serrano, lime zest) -Torched crispy rice trio (salmon tataki-coffee gravlax, avocado, morita aioli; seared tuna-citrus crust, serrano aioli; seared beef filet-brown butter béarnaise sauce) -Burrata and speck (seasonal fruit, tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette and caramelized pepitas) -Roasted octopus (spicy chorizo, house adobo, taro purée) -Corn ribs (citrus chili oil, serrano aioli) -Ube foam panna cotta (vanilla & thyme infused panna cotta with ube foam & torched seasonal fruit) All the small plates/appetizers were good but my personal favorite was the torched crispy rice trio (especially the seared beef filet surprisingly since I'm not a big meat eater). Our server recommended the space balls which we weren't going to initially order but we were glad we did. They were so flavorful but bite sized that I almost wanted to order another one. The roasted octopus was decent but I couldn't taste the taro puree. The burrata and corn ribs were both good but not standout dishes. I think we overordered on the small plates section since we weren't hungry enough to eat our main dishes and each of the dishes are not cheap either. We each ordered our own main dishes. I had the inked seafood risotto (shrimp, scallops, mussels, baby clams, speck, squid ink, fennel) while hubby had the braised short rib (port demi-glace, fresh herbs, truffle oil, vanilla mashed potatoes). We both enjoyed our dishes but I was already pretty stuffed from all our appetizers. We shared the ube foam panna cotta for dessert which was enough for us to take a bite but it was probably the most underwhelming dish of the night. It looked like it was the most popular dish on the menu per Yelp but it tasted like the fridge and wasn't freshly prepared. Based on the reviews, it looks like I should've eaten in but, I wanted a steak + wanted to use my amex credit and Space Cowboy was on the list! I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked so well. oh it was exactly what I was craving after a long work day. There was an interesting fried potato log served with it which I enjoyed. The chimichurri wasn't anything special, good, but I ended up using my own that I have at home (I keep chimi on deck!) -- My food was hot and ready on time! I do like that this place has a designed parking spot in busy east austin but it's odd that you have to pay for it... delicious mid-week meal perfect after a long, rainy, workday. read more

This restaurant is just about perfect for every occasion. Date night, GNO or out with the fam. Very cool ambiance and vibe. Service was just outstanding! The food came out very quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed the drinks and the meal. Our fav dish of the night was definitely the duck ravioli. Sauce was especially delicious and it came with a side of focaccia to soak up the remaining sauce to enjoy. Everything was so well thought out, even down to the cowboy server who gave us complimentary cotton candy. A few bites were a bit over seasoned and our two desserts tasted almost the same but other than that, i have no complaints. I will definitely be recommending this place! read more
Such a cool experience and not overhyped at all! We loved our meal and 100% would come back again for drinks & appetizers. Our (human) server was lovely and our robot servers were of course super fun. They really nailed the decor as a whole. They have an extensive cocktail menu - I LOVED my Alien Blood drink, my friends got the Lady in the Veil, Olive Oil Martini and Life Water, we all enjoyed. The highlights food wise were definitely the appetizers. We enjoyed the Stardust Fries, Hummus & Corn Ribs, and Shishito Peppers. Friday night, party of six for a birthday celebration. Parking is a bit of a challenge so be prepared to spend a little time looking for a space either at the restaurant or around at different businesses. Or just Uber there. We had a reservation but still had to wait a few minutes, No big deal. I will say that this restaurant has been on my radar ever since it opened and I was really looking forward to the dining experience with friends. I ordered a glass of wine and was a little shocked how small the pour was for the cost. You are definitely better off ordering a mixed drink for the prices. Another thing to consider is that the meal portions are small. It's better to purchase several appetizers and/or mains and or sides like they are tapas. Our server was super friendly and helpful. He made the experience so great. While I wasn't that impressed with the food I was super impressed with the service. The cocktails were really good too! I would definitely return but I would order my drinks and food differently. read more
Truly one of the coolest restaurants I have ever been to. One of my favorite things about ATX restaurants is that you can have great food in a beautiful ambiance; it's not one or the other. Space Cowboy is a great example of that. The scenery is exactly as the name insinuates: intergalactic dessert, cowboy vibes. Unique and beautiful. The food did not take long to come out ... maybe because it came on a space ship :) I thought that was impressive because with the set up, I could see it actually being more of a wait, so I was particularly impressed. The food. Very tasty. ESPECIALLY the broccolini. Some of the best I've had. I would go back just for that! The Texas Ribeye was good in flavor, but some parts could have been more tender and overall more warm with heat. I look forward to going back! read more
We came to Space Cowboy to celebrate our anniversary and had a great time. There was plenty of parking, most likely because we visited on a Sunday night. I loved the futuristic desert theme, and the capsule delivery system was such a fun and unique touch. Our server, Michael, was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the Space Balls, Stardust Fries, Texas Ribeye, Duck Ravioli, and the Ube Foam Panna Cotta. Everything was delicious, with the Space Balls and steak standing out. The steak melted in my mouth, and the salmon and tuna in the Space Balls were super fresh. The panna cotta was full of flavor, and they even gave cotton candy as a fun anniversary treat! Drinks were great overall. But the Aztec Old Fashioned was extremely smoky, definitely an acquired taste. This place has been on our list for some time now, and we're glad we spent our anniversary there! read more

This place is so aesthetically pleasing, I'm obsessed with the whole space-hipster-robot vibe. We ordered the crispy rice, corn ribs, short ribs, and the matcha dessert, and honestly, everything was super tasty and really well balanced. Cocktails? Dangerously good. Now for the plot twist: the server. Took his sweet time taking our order, then vanished into the galaxy when it came to checking in. For a full Space Cowboy experience, I'd love either an iPad ordering system or, at minimum, friendlier cowboys read more

Space Cowboy simply *kicks ass*. The cocktails are incredibly well-crafted--balanced, creative, and fun as hell. The food? Absolutely delightful. This is a really neat place to go to for an experience! The robot trains are so smooth! I was amazed that they could deliver drinks without spilling. We ordered and loved the corn ribs with hummus, space balls (definitely get those!), mushroom risotto and the truffle fries. The burrata was good but not great - I'd probably skip it next time as it wasn't super flavorful. And as a bonus, the decor is fun and makes for great pictures. read more

Amazing! Every single thing about it. Ambiance 5, Waiter 5, Libations 5, Starters 5, Entree 5, Dessert 5. The absolute highlights were the coconut cozomo drink- It is not called that! As an Asian I'm indifferent when it comes to fusion but I feel like Space Cowboy does it well. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very modern with lots of lights and cactus. The highlight of course would be the spaceships on a train track that delivers the drinks and food. I recommend the space balls and the short rib! I took a friend from out of town here for a unique experience and it delivered. The cocktails were pretty good and the vibe was cool. Service was great and the food was pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. It's good enough. I would recommend coming here if you are specifically interested in the experience, but if you are seeking a gourmet experience, I would probably go somewhere downtown instead. I would take out of towners here again, but probably not for a while since there are so many other options in Austin. read more
Fantastic concept! The food is also very good too. Ingredients speak for themselves and you can taste all the individual flavors of the dishes & how they come together. Drinks were nice though we aren't huge drinkers. I'd come back for sure. It was fun date night with the wifey given that the restaurant is a bit different than the normal style, without any conveyer belts that bring out your food. haha Get's a bit pricey but you are paying for the experience and not just the food itself. I was very impressed! Very cool, modern, whimsical decor and all the dishes were delicious - so many bold and unique flavors. Particularly loved the crispy rice trio and the duck ravioli. The ube panna cotta was just the right amount of sweet while still light. Our server Arissa was wonderful as well. read more

Rating: 4.2/5 [dine in] Upon entering, we were captivated by their beautiful interior design with hanging clouds and moons. We had 6 people in our group and they put us in a booth with an extra table and chairs on the end. I sat by the conveyor belt, so I couldn't hear the server well, but he made sure to check for any dietary restrictions or food allergies. They also automatically charge 20% gratuity for parties of 5+. My husband chose this place since they serve drinks and appetizers in these cute-looking space capsules. They do close fast and aren't motion-sensored, so the first time it came, we were too slow and didn't get our drinks out. They had to resend it back to our table. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and they gave him a complimentary cotton candy at the end of dinner, which was nice. The cotton candy was huge, so we shared it with the table. Their cocktails are pretty solid, and both were delicious, but I liked the Moonlit Cabana a bit more since it's sweeter. - Moonlit Cabana ($16): tequila reposado, naranja, coconut, pineapple, nutmeg - Smoke House ($17): mezcal, tequila blanco, poblano, agave, lime Texas Ribeye ($46.75): green onion, potato pavé, smoked Maldon salt, bourbon demi-glace, white wine, & chimichurri. It was highly recommended by our server, so 3 of the guys ordered it medium rare. I tried some from my husband and thought the meat was alright. I couldn't help but think it was lower quality than marketed and had that supermarket taste. The chimichurri and potato pavé were good though. Torched Crispy Rice Trio ($16.75): salmon tataki - coffee infused gravlax, avocado, morita aioli | seared tuna - citrus crust, serrano aioli | seared beef filet - brown butter, béarnaise sauce. We probably let this sit too long because the rice got hard. The idea sounded great, but the flavors were kind of underwhelming and all blended together. Nothing really stood out. Space Balls ($16.65): 2 pieces of salmon tartare, goat cheese, tangerine, capers, & puri + 2 pieces of tuna tartare, lemongrass, cilantro, ponzu, puri. This is a menu highlight, and I can see why. I really enjoyed it. Love the play on texture, especially that thin & crispy puri shell which was the star of the show. They were unique and tasty. Hamachi ($21.95): coconut leche de tigre, lemongrass, ginger, serrano pepper, lime zest, and grapefruit. I didn't expect this to be good since they're not a sushi restaurant, and I wasn't sure how I felt about hamachi with coconut leche de tigre, but this one blew me away. The flavor combo totally worked, and I enjoyed this more than the Crispy Rice Trio. read more
Rainy day in Austin? That's the best time to visit Space Cowboy. Why? No windows, transporting you into a warm, desert atmosphere, but with vibes. But there really is no wrong time to visit. Our crew extra appreciated it on a rainy day we needed an uplift. Occasionally, when a restaurant has something special to offer, like entertainment or robot delivered food, it has the opportunity to coast on just that. Without service or quality food. I was delightfully surprised how delicious the food was and how great the service was as well. Our crew went about it where each of us picked an appetizer that we had to try and then shared family style. It really worked well for a group of six. We then split the cost between all of us for the apps making it reasonably priced considering how popular this place is. If you have a group, reservations are a must. Even for date night reservations are a must. Tip: The day of we were able to move our reservation up on Resy. I had the coconut water cocktail, I can't remember the name, but it was so delicious. Loved the Burrata the most of the appetizers, but there was really nothing on the menu that was bland or disappointing. read more

I loved the desert space theme, with the robots is super cool, different and the vibe inside is so cool! Our waitress was amazing, sweet and helpful. I took her recommendations and she did not disappoint. The octopus carpaccio was so good, one of my favorites and y the rice trio was also delicious too. We tried the chicken too, but honestly it was just okay compared to everything else. Risotto was amazing, super tasty. Now, the desserts: wow. The panna cotta and the little chocolate cake with ice cream were next level. Drinks were really good as well! Yes, it's a bit expensive, but totally worth it for the quality and experience. read more
Loved this place! Would go again for the space ball appetizer. I would say the ambiance is fun and cool. The only downside was the tables are really uncomfortable to sit at - stiff booth tables and no privacy between next door diners. read more
