"Unfortunate" is probably the best way to sum up our experience at Juliet's. When we arrived we were very pleased to see they offer free valet parking. After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal. read more

They had a happy hour menu on a Saturday, which was a nice surprise. Like most Italian and other mid tier places on the nicer side, prices skew a little high, but the happy hour menu had about half if what I wanted to sample there, which was a nice surprise. Service was attentive & excellent, nice decor & atmosphere. Food was solid. I'm picky about Italian food (Austin does not have strong choices) so it might be a 5 if it weren't for that. We went to Juliet Kitchen Downtown for my birthday brunch, which also happened to be Derby Day, and unfortunately it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. After being seated, we waited nearly 20 minutes without receiving menus. Our server came by to ask for drink orders, but we still had no menus to even look at. She still didn't bring them, so I eventually had to walk up to the host stand myself to ask for menus. Once I brought them back to the table and we started reviewing them, the server later returned only to tell us they were the wrong menus and that we actually needed the brunch menus instead. To make matters worse, the bartender didn't know how to make a Mint Julep -- on Derby Day, when they were supposedly preparing for a Derby party later that day. Our drinks took around 35 minutes to arrive, and we were almost there for an hour before food finally came out. By that point, several people in our party decided not to order food at all because the experience had already been so disappointing. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of management involvement. No manager ever came by to check on our table, apologize for the delays, or offer anything while we waited so long. It's especially disappointing because their brunch used to be great, and we had enjoyed coming here in the past. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning. read more

This was another recommendation from a colleague, and I was glad we had a chance to go to Juliette in Austin. It's a acquaint little house converted restaurant very eclectic and great for a variety of taste. They have and Bo a menu full of the traditional Italian classics with a spin on some of the additional seafood dishes And overall I was impressed. I mean it's definitely Americanized Italian to some degree but you know the meatballs were tasty. The fried calamari with jalapeños were also good perfectly cooked. The bruschetta was also fresh refreshing with the pesto, and I enjoyed the scallops with the risotto and corn and spinach. Drinks were also a nice addition. This is a great date night spot or somewhere to come casually with friends on a weeknight it was getting busy towards the latter part of our dinner and impressive for A Wednesday night. read more

A group of us dined at Juliet's Italian Kitchen one weekend and were pleasantly surprised. We were attending a play at the Zachary Scott Theatre and Juliet's happens to be a short distance away. The ambiance was nice and cozy, not too loud and the food very tasty. It was a busy night so the service was a bit slow and not as efficient as it could have been. I was the last one to arrive, and sat for maybe 10 minutes before I even got water and placed my drink order. They do bring bread for the table and olive oil and it is delicious! There are gluten free options for any of the pastas which I took advantage of. I ordered the Mushroom Fettuccine Fungi and liked it fine. Our table had a varied assortment of selections including pizza, salads and the Chicken Picatta. Everyone was satisfied with their food. The outdoor seating area is so pretty and comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and our waiter, despite only being his 5th day there was very personable. My daughter got a pepperoni pizza. I got a gluten free sausage pepperoni and mushroom pizza recommended by our waiter. My husband got the pesto Salmon. Everyone loved their dish, they did a great job on the GF crust, you cannot tell taste wise at all. I got a pretty pink aperol drink on the happy hour menu. There was a shade sail as well, but a gap meant that, by the end of our visit, the sun made it a bit uncomfortable. The scent of nearby blooming jasmine added charm to the setting. We were served ice water and fresh bread with a good olive oil soon after being seated. The food menu was somewhat limited, but there was a rather large bar menu. My daughter selected a ravioli entrée while I chose the shrimp scampi over angel hair. The food was beautifully presented and very flavorful. The portion size was perfect for us. Service was excellent. There's a large and convenient parking lot behind the restaurant. Juliet Italian Kitchen has several Austin-area locations. Let me start with this: I had to go back and look at the menu after I got door dash from this place because I was worried I'd accidentally ordered a $25 dollar appetizer... I got the duck confit ravioli which indeed is listed under their pasta entrees. It sounded really original and it WAS - the flavor is actually very good! The problem was the portion size - the $25 bought 6 pieces of rather small ravioli. I remember when I ordered this I was worried it wouldn't be enough food, but I didn't realize it would be the same portion size as my 2 year old niece usually has. This was ordered to have during a zoom meeting so I couldn't go buy more food last minute; I was still very hungry and ended up eating a bag of chips, a bag of pistachios, and a Canada Dry soda that were leftover from lunch to be sort of full. My friend also gave me a piece of her garlic bread. Again I just want to reiterate that the flavor of this dish was lovely! But the portion size was embarrassingly small, definitely should not be listed as an entree because it's misleading. The other issue is my friend had ordered pizza and they either forgot to make, or to pack her order, so she didn't have anything to eat :( And I sampled my other friend's spaghetti, it was pretty good, didn't blow my mind but it was above average I would say. Overall what I had was the tastiest thing but again the portion was just so small. I wouldn't be quite so dismayed if it were listed as an appetizer but it isn't... for these reasons I don't think I'll order from here again, but the spaghetti portions are bigger so you could try those if you wanted Italian! read more

We held a private event in their front Calabria Room. It can fit 15 comfortably. The room is surrounded by a lovely mural of Austin landmarks on one wall and the rest lined with windows to people watch on Barton Springs road. Their events team was so flexible with our menu requests and held a seamless event for us. The appetizers were served family style and very plentiful and filling. Both salads were great, but I think the Butter Lettuce was my fav. For my entree the staff had highly recommended the Slow Braided Lamb Ragu. I just had to give it a try as I LOVE lamb. The lamb flavor was not very overpowering if you are not a huge lamb fan and the noodles were AMAZING! Large portion as well. Everyones entrees were rather large. For dessert I went with the Tirumisu. It was light and perfect. The staff was very attentive as well. I chose the chicken funghi, which was ginormous. We enjoyed three desserts, which all could be shared since we were stuffed silly. My favorite was the tiramisu. The service was excellent. My DIL visits Austin twice a year and has had this place on her list to try. What a delightful experience. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant. As you walk in from that lot you'll notice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Austin was at the end of a cold spell so we sat inside. The waiter did not introduce himself with his name but he was very friendly. We were served a round of focaccia with olive oil on the side. A second round was served as we had a 17 month old with us who found the focaccia to be to her liking. The table ordered chicken parm, Italian Sausage Ravioli and a sausage, pepperoni & mushroom pizza. Everyone was pleased with their meal. I tasted everything and it was all done very well. I really enjoyed my entree, the ravioli. They're stuffed with cheese and served with a crispy sausage topping. My only complaint is that there weren't more because they were that good. Had a great date night at Juilet! I recommend getting a reservation if you want to sit inside. They have private parking and indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit at the bar. The wine selection is good and the frozen margarita is tasty. It has orange liqueur which gives a little different flavor. The mozzarella appetizer was delicious. It tasted so fresh. And the free focaccia was so good. I could have eaten the bread by itself, but why deny myself the deliciousness of the olive oil it comes with?!? Try your best not to fill yourself up on just bread. It was a birthday celebration for a really close special friend. I've known these ladies for over 1015 years since I've moved here and AUSTIN. We love having a good time and we can get together and we celebrated our friend Cheryl for her 50 something birthday. we sat outside with live music and order quite a few different hors d'oeuvres. After that, we ordered our actual food and we had several drinks to celebrate. We sang happy birthday, we prayed over New Year's to come and our food and then after the players left, and everyone left the patio, we had it for an hour, and we danced the night away.
