Crispy Brussels tossed with feta and shaved prosciutto
JaLeesa S.

Okay! So I travelled to Austin, Tx for work and for the last week, I've been talking about a good steak from Texas. I try and find locations nearby my hotel so I do not have to travel and lo and behold, J Prime was the next block over. The atmosphere was calm, a little dark to maybe set a more romantic or high class mood but my colleague and I were not in our best dress but the staff didn't make us feel like we were underdressed. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and sat at the bar. The two baristas greeted us and immediately brought water while asking if we wanted to drink. On Mondays, it seems like the restaurant has an all day happy hour so I ordered a lemon drop martini and opted for the $2 up charge because of my drink of choice. So a select few of drinks including some liquor was $10. I order two lemon drops for $12 each. They tasted amazing and shout out to the bar tenders. I ordered the 16oz ribeye ($70) with the garlic/herb butter. It may not look appealing in my photo, but let me tell you... it was delicious and exactly what I wanted. I ordered the crispy Brussels ($15) as my side minus the chopped walnuts and they were also delicious. In total I spent out $140 including tip. The sides are large enough to share and the happy hour specials are worth it. If you're in Downtown Austin, give JPrime a shot.

Booked this place the first Friday of SXSW for a private partner dinner. Just 10 of us -- super intimate setup -- and wow... they absolutely delivered. I'll start with this: one of the guests at the table said it was the best meal they've ever had in their life. And this isn't someone who just eats out occasionally. This is a speaker who travels the country every week trying new restaurants. That statement alone should tell you something. Let's start with the bread because wowwww. These rolls deserve their own category in the "great restaurant breads of the world" conversation. I can't even fully describe them. They're small enough to fit in the palm of your hand -- almost bite-sized but still substantial. Warm, soft, and there's this subtle cheesy flavor baked right into the dough. Then they bring out the chive butter on the side... forget about it. Unreal. Next up: the lobster bisque. Some of the best I've ever had. If you're there, just get it. Don't think twice. I didn't personally get the wedge salad, but a few people at the table did and it looked incredible. That's already locked in as the first thing I'm ordering the next time I'm back in Austin. For appetizers I went with the shrimp cocktail -- huge shrimp, super fresh, exactly what you want. The charcuterie board was also really well done, but the smoked meat tray was the one that really stole the show. And whatever they're doing with the cheese on that tray... wow. Just trust me and order it. For the main course I went with the filet and they nailed it. Cooked perfectly. No notes. Then the sides came out and things really took off. The crab fried rice was insane, the potatoes were great, and the Brussels sprouts absolutely held their own too. End of the day, this is the best steakhouse in Austin... until someone proves me wrong. 5

A night to remember! The ambience, vibes, and overall atmosphere were Grade A from the moment we walked in! The staff were absolutely amazing, knowledgeable about the menu from front to back, attentive, and made amazing recommendations. Now, let's get the food because it was exceptional I don't eat, so I can't speak on the steak, but my friend said, "It was terrific and flavorful, and on a scale from 1 to 10, it was a 7.75." The salmon was absolutely amazing, very juicy and full of flavor. I really enjoyed the seafood pasta; it was creamy with lots of seafood. J Prime was an all-around phenomenal dining experience. I'll definitely return once my pockets replenish.

Today's my birthday and it started with breakfast in bed by Chef Hubs! The night ended with dinner at J Prime Steakhouse located in the heart of downtown Austin. J Prime epitomizes fine dining. We valet parked because it was cold and it's no fun walking in the cold. When we walked in the hostess welcomed us as if when were family members, she had not seen in quite some time. We were seated at booth with sprinkled pink rose petals, a Happy Birthday Card and lighted balloon (yes lighted...Christmas like lights yet smaller on the string of the balloon and inside the balloon...nice touch!). Based on the balloon count in the dining room, 6 people were celebrating birthdays. James, our server, introduced himself and offered us water while we decided on our meal. J Prime is a large space with 3-4 private dining spaces in the back that will seat 30-40 people depending on how the rooms are configured. Interesting fact learned it used to be a Mexican restaurant with a patio. My hubby ordered lobster bisque and Ora Atlantic Salmon cooked a cedar plank with an orange slice underneath. I ordered a beet salad (an aesthetically pleasing salad and equally delicious) and Chilean seabass, one of my favorite fish. Before any food was brought to the table, we were offered a complimentary palate cleanser - tiny pancake with caviar topping. It was quite tasty. My hubby really enjoyed his salmon...it was crispy on top and moist inside. He said his lobster bisque was smooth and flavorful. My Chilean seabass was seared on top as requested. It also had some associated greens and sundried tomatoes underneath. The combination of textures and flavors created a welcome mouth explosion. We shared au gratin potatoes, which were more like mash potatoes than scalloped potatoes but still quite delicious. In addition, the Italian prosecco was refreshing and light. Before we began our dessert, we were offered another palate cleanser - lime sorbet along with a small towel to cleanse our hands. We had complimentary dessert...usually confetti cake but they were out at dinner time. Our waiter offered us one dessert from the menu instead and we chose carrot cake...it was moist with a hint of cinnamon loaded with nuts and cream cheese frosting. So yummy!!! While the food was excellent, the real standout was service...excellent service! James, our server was frequently at our table along with a water person. We drank a few sips of water and our glasses were refilled. We also had Andres, the general manager, stop by our table to check on us a few times. Andres engaged us in meaningful conversation. Both James and Andres were super friendly and attentive. Service...chef's kiss!!! The small yet appealing touches...coat check, table stand for your purse and leftovers packaged before your very eyes at your table. My birthday dinner could not have been better!!! Look forward to returning...

Restaurant week reservation number 2. Early dinner and chose bar seating. Not very busy at all and they have a huge bar. Katie the bartender was very kind and I appreciated her providing comments in the items selected. For $75 you've got options, see menu photos. I went with the Lobster bisque, NY strip, added Brussel sprouts +$10 (they had several options for sides and the carrot cake. Lobster bisque was delicious, I enjoyed the flavor and only thing that would make it better is to have more lobster r pieces in it. Steak was seasoned well, no additional modifications needed. Brussel sprouts were amazing, I opted to finish the steak over Brussel sprouts. Carrot cake, also delicious. Only got a few bites in as I was stuffed from everything else. The espresso martinis are also delightful. Man, all around good times.

I came for the happy hour menu and it was a great experience! It's hard to come by restaurants these days that offer a good menu for food & drinks. It was a great opportunity to sample what the restaurant has to offer. What's great is that the happy hour is even on a Sunday. The place was very quiet but the service was still great. What's great too is free street parking in downtown on Sundays which is a double win! The expresso martini was top notch! I ordered the steak with potato for my meal and beef carpaccio as an appetizer and they were both very tasty. For the price and the quantity of food, it was just perfect! I would def add it to your happy hour list to try.

Five star experience! Service was amazing, food was tasty, and possibly one of the best desserts I've ever had. We came at 5pm and the restaurant was pretty empty so staff was VERY attentive. Nice Happy Hour options but we weren't drinking. I went with the New York strip 10oz and my friends got the filet mignon 8oz. We all enjoyed our steaks! For sides we got the fries and broccolini. The broccolini was very tasty, though a little pricey. The fries were good but a lil soggy, not crisp enough and too much garlic. We got a free dessert for my friends bday and the piece was huge! We shared it and omg... all agreed it was possibly the best cake we've ever had.

We LOVE JPrime. We've been here for special occasions and for business meals. The food is excellent and so is the service. Very professional or sexy for date night depending on your vibe

Came here for Mother's Day, the food was good. Service was okay. We got here around 2pm and found out they ran out of new england lobster rolls. My family was very upset. We seen other tables who had it and it looked delicious. Overall experience, I may come back again. I won't be back at this place for any special occasion, hopefully the next round they will have stocked up on food. The chocolate mousse was amazing. They had these little round cheese bread that was great...it was a hit everyone liked them. The place was nice and clean. I would recommend this place to people to come.

Service was impeccable. Food was pricey for what is was. The bone marrow appetizer was okay at best. It would be nice to see more marrow. 5/10 The Tomahawk Dry Age Steak was okay as well. Nothing blew me away. Presentstion was great. 5/10

Dry Aged Tomahawk

Service was great! Food unfortunately was not. Stopped by for my brothers birthday and the staff here were extremely hospitable. The atmosphere here is interesting -- they have the refined service and white tablecloths you'd expect of a fancy steakhouse but they choose to pair it with club / EDM style music. Not necessarily a con, just interesting. The food was where our experience soured: Bone Marrow - Quite overpriced for the portion of edible marrow you receive. Wouldn't order again. Dry aged Tomahawk - Unfortunately this was just average. It was cooked such that the outside was charred (leaving some pieces almost inedible) and did not have the flavor I expected for a steak of this price point. Perhaps this was to be expected with a larger cut of meat, but I was disappointed nonetheless.

Service was amazing felt like they rolled out the red carpet for us upon entry with vibey music and big smiles and greetings from all the staff. And the ambience was top notch, beautifully decorated and nicely lit. At the same time it did not feel stuck up or uppity up, my bachelor group of 13 guys felt super comfortable. We had the private room and it was just the right size. The tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly (3 of us guys split it) and all the side dishes were good too. I recommend the lobster Mac and cheese and the broccolini and asparagus. We were so full we even had to take home some of our steak and sides. (Which we happily ate after we went bar hopping). Speaking of drinks. I recommend the old fashioned espresso and the tequila old fashioned espresso. If you need a fine dining experience where they'll make you feel comfortable and make you want to come back I recommend J-Prime! Oh and shoutout to our server Lorna or Lo, she was top notch and explained the menu really well.

Amazing food, great service, and a great vibe. Definitely high-end, the scallops were good, but I'm not sure they were worth $100

Really enjoyed trying some wines here!…read more They seem to carry mostly (if not only) Texas wines and the bartender told us in depth on what we were tasting. I would definitely come back here!

Rating: 3.1/5 We…read moretried The Austin Winery on two different occasions, and both times their wine was just okay or not good. The first time was a wine flight we had catered at our apartment, while the second time, we visited in person with a group of friends. Honestly, the wines we buy from Costco taste better. We did the $20 wine tasting flight where you get to choose 3 from the menu. The pros are that it's cheap and they give generous pours, but the con is that the wines don't taste good. Thank goodness I shared with my husband because I wouldn't have been able to finish it myself. 1. Picpoul Blanc: One Elm Vineyards - High Plains white wine with notes of lemongrass, pink lemonade, and raspberry. It was okay. 2. Aqua Pazza - High Plains/High Country orange wine with notes of apricot, candied lemon, and orange zest. It tasted like a bitter citrus wine and was our least favorite of the wines we tried. 3. GSM: Salt Lick Vineyards - Hill Country chilled red wine with notes of mint berry crunch and herbal. I think we prefer non-chilled red wine, since the tannins were super muted, but the cold temperature does make it more enjoyable on a hot day. Lavender Haze ($15): This is a wine cocktail made with Ocho, lemon, lavender simple syrup, topped with Rambler, and garnished with a lemon wheel. Ocho is a Salt Lick Vineyards - Hill Country white wine with soft lychee, beeswax, and freshly minted bills. It's a light and bright wine cocktail that's great for an afternoon drink. Bread With Oil & Balsamic Reduction ($6): You definitely need to dip the bread in the balsamic reduction; otherwise, the bread is just so bland by itself. Recommend getting the shareables instead, since the bread doesn't really add anything to the wine tasting. Our friends got the charcuterie, and the meat, cheese, and fig really helped us get through the wine flight.

Rosé Gosé was a delightful Mother's Day lunch spot. It is a whole vibe, and it is uniquely French! When we walked in an artist was playing romantic music on his keyboard, which set the tone for the brunch. It is a small restaurant inside with a larger area of seating on the patio. Of course, our reservations were inside in the comforts of air conditioning. You immediately notice a wine wall hence the name Rosé Gosé. The restaurant has many windows which provide lots of natural light. The tables house miniature yellow roses and utensils sat in a small wooden block...very French. All the servers were dressed in mauve clothing that resemble scrubs from a hospital. If someone stepped out in a French beret, I would have fallen over. Our server, Sergey, immediately served us water and took our order. The restaurant was highlighted as a modern European bistro. The atmosphere was charming, elegant, and stylish making it ideal for a Mother's Day brunch. My hubby ordered a ribeye, eggs and French Fries. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and egg whites. While I'm not a huge red meat eater, I tasted a piece of the hubs ribeye and it was nicely prepared. My avocado toast was yummy to the nth degree! Everything was perfect. The avocado was precisely cut and at the right level of softness. The salmon was chopped into tiny little squares and so enjoyable to eat. We could not be more pleased. With a name like Rosé Gosé you would expect their drinks to be superb. My hubby ordered a hibiscus tea, which was delightful. I ordered a mimosa that had high quality ingredients and was perfectly balanced...so smooth. We were also pleased with the drinks. This was the first time at Rosé Gosé, however, it definitely will not be the last.

Really love going to rosé goes!…read more I think everybody in town knows their service is not the best and that's not what they're known for but their cocktails are by far my favorite in all of Austin. Their drink number seven, which is basically a Yuzu gin sour is literally my favorite drink and all of Austin and still continues to be that way. Their food is also pretty decent, but I primarily go there for the drinks. Gotta get my wraps done before it actually closes down because I still don't know how to stay around
