I always make it a point to dine here every few months because I genuinely enjoy the food and its consistent quality. While the prices are certainly on the upscale side, I truly believe the food lives up to what you're paying for. The bone marrow and Caesar salad are two of my absolute favorites, and I almost always order the blue crab pasta as my main entrée! The atmosphere can get a little noisy, but it's never taken away from my overall experience. The service is consistently good, although I do think it could be a bit more refined to match the upscale nature of the restaurant. I have heard it's pretty difficult to obtain a reservation but I was in town for the weekend and we tried to walk in around 8:30 pm on a Saturday night. We got the last seats at the bar which had a dimly lit/moody ambiance and had good service! We ordered the mezze rigatoni and a glass of red wine. Red Snapper Crudo ($21): It was alright but not worth it. I wasn't sure all the ingredients worked together. Bone Marrow With Mushroom Risotto ($42): A huge entree that's enough for two people. Came with two large bone marrow and a delicious but very heavy mushroom risotto. I'm used to mushroom risotto in a white creamy base but this one was red, buttery, and cheesy. It was incredible but I wouldn't recommend it if you're on a date or watching what you eat. I was very bloated and felt heavy afterwards so save it for your cheat meal days. It was too much to finish in one sitting anyway so I got to enjoy it again for lunch the next day. Wood Grilled Octopus ($19): My friend ordered this and I tried a piece. The octopus was a bit overcooked. 10 Oz Beef Filet With Fresh Blue Crab Fonduta ($72): My husband and friend both loved the blue crab fonduta which had a strong blue crab flavor. The beef filet was nicely cooked but lacked flavor and the slice was cut a bit too thick for my taste. Another amazing meal at Red Ash! Had a res for 8:45 and the restaurant was hopping. This time I tried the Caesar salad, burrata and tomato appetizer, the bishops hats, agnolotti, and spaghetti and meatballs. I came back for the tagliolini crab pasta and it was just as delicious as I remembered. The garlic bread was also delicious. The Caesar salad was fresh and lemony but nothing special. The bishop hats were good but a little too al dente for me. The agnolotti was good and flavorful. Other than the tagliolini, the spaghetti was my favorite. I was so impressed how delicious it was for such a simple dish. They use San marzano tomatoes for the sauce. It will now be on my must order list next time I come. Treated myself to dinner here after a long week working at the F1 race. This place has been on my list of places to try in Austin for a while and it did not disappoint. The food here was excellent. I started off with the bone marrow app which was great. Very generous serving size and had plenty of marrow on each of the bones unlike a lot of places. They also give you plenty of delicious garlic bread to go along with it. For my entree I got the small serving of the spaghetti and meatballs which was plenty of food and delicious. I finished the meal with the espresso affogato which was the perfect way to end the meal. Place was packed due to it being F1 weekend so service was understandably a tad on the slow side sitting at the bar but I still enjoyed my meal. Very lively place with good music. This was my first dining experience at Red Ash and it was for my friends birthday dinner. We had a party of seven and were seated at the high top in the front of the restaurant by the hostess counter. I had a great view of everybody walking by the restaurant outside :) Our server was fantastic! He was super friendly and attentive. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and left a little after 10:00 p.m. The food was delicious. My man absolutely loved his seafood pasta dish! He doesn't even eat pasta but he scraped that plate dry. I highly recommend ordering family style for the table but make sure your whole party is on board with splitting the check evenly because the restaurant does not break up the check according to diners only split evenly, I believe up to four ways. Example: Our check was $822 (included gratuities) for seven people and we were only able to split evenly four ways. Roughly $118 each. It is what it is but I didn't even get a main course. Came again for a bday celebration. Everything was perfect and amazing as well. Everyone greeted my dad for his bday. They reserved a special spot for him on the top floor overlooking the restaurant and it was perfect. My dad was really happy. Our server was excellent, patient, and super thorough. They had a birthday card ready and signed by the staff when we arrived as well. Nice touch. We ordered the lobster tail scampi, frutti di mare, and blue crab tagliolini, along with the octopus appetizer, Caesar salad, and bread service. We did family style so we could all try everything and it was amazing. The bread is flown in from New York and it's just amazing. I really can't recommend Red Ash enough. This restaurant was everything I could of asked for. Probably the best restaurant we tried in all of Austin. I'm from Los Angeles, and have been to many high end and hip restaurants, this was definitely up there with some of the best restaurants. Food: Crab tagliatelle is a must! This dish was delicious and everything you can ask for from a pasta. Gnocchi special with Peas and Asperagus is a must. This creamy and feather light dish was packed with so much flavour. Lobster scalloping was very good as well and so was the filet mignon. But best of all were the side of carrots, pear and endive salad and the Cho salad. We've always heard so much hype about Red Ash and just had to try for ourselves. Takes a few months to get a reservation. I had made a reservation a few weeks prior for our anniversary month. When we sat at our table they had a cute little greeting card from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. Pro Tip: Just make a reservation way in advance and if you make it you make it. Even if you don't think you will be able to make it. If you can't go just cancel with enough advance. We started with the Meatballs that pair wonderfully with their Italian Bread. Flavorful and plentiful dish and def get the bread! Next came the Bone Marrow & Tuna Crudo. I will say though for some reason after we finished our Meatballs it took them quite a while to bring our dishes after that. Bone Marrow was divine and also paired well with the Italian Bread. Tuna Crudo was not what I expected because it was warm and I was expecting it to be cold. But it was good and I love eggplant. Our main dish was the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese. From the description it seemed to hit all the boxes since we are meat lovers (contains braised beef & pork shoulder) and truffle. I love me some truffle. When we ordered the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese I asked him does it have a lot of truffle flavor because I love truffle. He said oh we can definitely add more truffle if you would like when the dish comes out. When the dish came they had the chef come shave an extra truffle on the dish. I honestly could not taste the difference. Was not enough truffle flavor for me. Note the extra truffle is an added charge. Overall lovely experience. We had a wonderful date night at Red Ash and finally understood why it's one of Austin's most talked‑about restaurants. We booked our 6:45pm reservation two months out, arrived a little early, and were seated at the bar right away--already a great start. Drinks: She ordered the Heat of Passion and I went with the Satan's Circus. Both were solid cocktails, but the Heat of Passion definitely stole the show with brighter, more pronounced flavors. Mine was good, though the chilis were much more subtle than expected. Starters: We started with the burrata with tomatoes and the bone marrow. The burrata itself was outstanding--creamy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The tomatoes were good but could have used a touch more seasoning, though it seemed they were going for a "let the ingredients shine" approach. The bone marrow, however, was phenomenal. Rich, buttery, and paired perfectly with the extra bread it came with (which was helpful since we devoured the burrata's bread instantly). It was my first time trying marrow, and it was a "when in Rome" moment I'm glad I had. Entrées: We shared the potato gnocchi (small portion) and the blue crab pasta (full portion). The crab pasta was flavorful and well‑balanced, but the gnocchi packed such a punch that you really had to alternate bites or it would overshadow the other dish entirely. For what it's worth, we're not huge seafood people, so that may have influenced our impressions--but both dishes were delicious in their own way. Dessert: We debated between the olive oil cake and the chocolate cake, and finally chose the chocolate hazelnut volcano cake. Zero regrets. Rich, warm, and decadent--halfway through I was ready for a nap in the best possible way. Ambience: The building itself is thoughtful and stylish. There was music playing (sounded like Bad Bunny vibes), but it was hard to hear over the crowd--if anything, lowering it might make conversations easier. The steak trimmings bruschetta was a single slice of bread, but it was loaded with both perfect medium rare steak and delicious mushrooms. Add maybe a $4 order of two slices of their garlic bread, and you could perhaps call this an entree. The octopus was perfectly tender and came sitting in a delicious almost-stew that made the dish heartier. Again, kind of expensive for the single skewer (about 6 pieces) of octopus. We got one of the most expensive mains -- the cold lobster tails scampi style with spaghettini. There were five small lobster tails, which isn't bad. Flavor was just fine. The pasta on the side was just fine, just cooked beyond al dente in a simple tomato sauce. It was a little surprising the pasta didn't have lobster flavor or even scampi flavor. Felt like two very different dishes on the plate. This dish also came with a slice of bread. Their bread is great. We also got the special-- morel mushrooms over polenta and a poached egg. It tasted great but was probably the thinnest, smallest serving of polenta I've ever had. The desserts is where Red Ash then redeemed itself. The tiramisu is great...AND HUGE. Double the size I would have expected. And they don't say it on the menu, but you can order a single scoop of gelato for $4. This place has not changed in regards to its level of quality and service. With so many great restaurants in Austin, it's really hard to find a bad restaurant. For me and my family this is a fancy yet casual restaurant. You can dress to impress or just go in with a T-shirt and shorts. They never judge. Me and my daughter have the Fruti del Mar and my wife had the spaghetti with white clam sauce. Both my daughter and my wife requested no spicy flakes or ingredients be added, rather have it on the side. All the food came out pretty fast and we easily sorted the spicy vs none spicy one. The bo colored pasta and all the seafood in the dish is divine to say the least. My wife's clam sauce was buttery smooth and with the spicy anchovies part that made the dish a bit spicy is phenomenal. If you are ok with a little spice for kicks this is perfect but in no way leaving it out will make the dishes less delish. Trust me. After I finished my dish the sauce that remains is perfect to use the garlic bread to sop it up and have and it's a garlic lover's dream. Of course we needed to finish with desserts. I was later told it takes months to get a reservation, and after trying the food and feeling the vibes, I could see why. Intimate, but casual environment with friendly service. The lighting is spot on: not too dark, not too bright. We shared the meatballs and the osso bucco and a bottle of wine. The osso bucco was probably among the best I've had. The wine list is quite extensive and you can find some pretty good values. I like it here so much I tried to get back in the following night. This is rare for me. Since we were dining on the 2nd floor we had a good view of it. We became fascinated concerning where the bird would go next. We took a few pictures of it; tried to get a video of it in flight. I think we missed out on that. We did notice the bird kept turning around. It did in fact poop on the table below where a couple was having drinks. I am glad I did not give up on Red Ash after a bad experience. I have been several times after and it exceed my expectation more and more, and somehow I became addicted to Frutti Di Mare. I can officially say this is my fav italian restaurant in Austin. It is hard to get a reservation, but dont give up even if you eat in the bar. It is well worthed. For the first timers, Order Tomato and Burrata, Frutti Di Mare and Tiramusu. You wont regret, but be careful with sea food pasta. Fantastic first visit to this place that we've been excited to try. Reservations were a bit challenging so now we know to book far in advance, plan ahead! Paid parking is directly across the street, minimum for 2 hours was $27 and can always be extended however the restaurant allows 1 hr 45 minutes to dine. Valet is available. We chose to sit near the cooks which was very entertaining. It's amazing to watch how focused each chef was, attention to detail and composure! It made us want everything on the menu. Our waitstaff was Stephen who was cordial and helpful. Since this was our first, and definitely not our last, we started with the burrata appetizer which was a hardy portion with leftovers. Friends recommended the osso bucco so we got that and husband got the rigatoni with sausage. Both were delicious while the osso bucco was full of flavor and tender, the rigatoni was also a hit! Portions were very generous with lots of leftovers to enjoy a 2nd and 3rd time. One of my favorite spots in Austin! The food was great and the vibes are there. It does get super busy, and our reservation had to be made 3 months in advance as there was nothing available. The space can get crowded and loud, and you will have to wait a bit past your reservation time to get your table. We sat at the bar and it was okay. Service is friendly, but slow. This was my first time trying bone marrow and it was underwhelming, but it was cool to try. The steak was amazing and will def be trying the rest on the menu. The ravioli was good and the spaghetti with meatballs was good too! Overall, it's a great spot and totally recommend trying at least once. I didn't confirm the times and the reservation was never set, but fortunately we walked in and was able to grab a table for an hour before the next guest came in. A rarity. Highly recommend to make a reservation ahead of time. For food, we got the wood grilled bone marrow, agnolotti, bolognese, pollo alla diavolo, and for dessert the apple crostata to go. All the dishes were so rich in flavor (likely from all the oils/butter/mallow used). My favorite was the bolognese. It had the nice tomato sauce acidity to balance the fattiness of the dishes. My wife got a basil and mint mocktail that was bomb. It tasted really good and paired nicely with the food. I opted out of a drink because I wanted to try more of the food. BOOK YOUR RESERVATION A MONTH IN ADVANCE! I started looking for a reservation 3 weeks before we decided to come here for a birthday dinner, and the only available time was 9pm! As soon as you walk in, you feel that it's a fairly casual restaurant. It's loud inside with people not too afraid to raise their voices. We were seated as soon as we arrived for our reservation. Every waiter/waitress I've come across here has been very delightful. They even left us a birthday card with the staff each writing something nice. We ordered 3 dishes and a few drinks and one dessert. It seems like they have single serving and family style serving options. We left feeling very full! I wish I could eat here every day of our trip! The food here was phenomenal. Our server Dejan did such a fabulous job explaining the best sellers and his favorites. We had to get a little of everything - pasta, appetizers, salad.
