    Clam linguini

My husband and I went for date night, our server DJ or RJ (sorry I am unsure) was so friendly and knew the menu very well even made suggestions, can't say enough good things about him. We had fries, crab hush puppies and a bowl of clam chowder each. Drink for me was Mai oh mai and they did not skimp on the alcohol woo! Entree was clam linguine and Blackened TX redfish that hubby loved. The place was set up nice a little noisy coz you can see food preparations but fun to watch. It is located inside Westin Austin Hotel in 5th St.

I came here for a friend's birthday and honestly we had such a good time. We were a group of 12 and our server was super nice, attentive and handled our big table like a pro. The place is really nice, it's inside at The Westin by the lobby. Food was sooo good. I got the lobster avocado toast and loved it. I also ordered the crab hush puppies and they were really good too, crispy and soft in the inside. The oysters were definitely the highlight. At $1 each, they're 100% worth it. Perfect to share and they tasted fresh. They have a whole oyster bar I also had a drink that reminded me of a piña colada (I think it was called something like Mahi Mahi) and I loved it, super refreshing and not too sweet. We ordered a Key lime pie for the birthday girl and wow, I would come back just to try that again, it was so good! Btw, they have valet parking ($10 for 2hrs) As a person that really loves seafood this was really good experience

The seafood here was fantastic. We started off with the Petite Seafood Plateau. The shrimp was huge, and the oysters were very fresh and sweet. My friends and I also really enjoyed the Kennebec Chips & Salmon Dip. The dip itself was creamy and paired well with the chips, which our waiter kept providing more of throughout our meal. Unfortunately, their pasta was just okay. We ordered the Seafood Tagliatelle to share among the table. We had expected a more Aglio e Olio-style sauce, but it was more like your basic Alfredo white sauce. The seafood in the pasta was, again, fantastic, but the pasta itself was nothing special. I would recommend sticking to the strictly seafood items on the menu. My friends and I were also disappointed with the Point Judith Calamari. The fried exterior was incredibly mushy. The service was great though! I would come again, but perhaps just for the raw bar.

What lovely place! It is chic and comfortable with warm decor and low lighting. We stopped by for Easter Brunch and they were able to accommodate us, even without a reservation. The wait staff worked as a team and our food was brought out promptly, each dish more delicious than the last! The Brown Sugar Brisket Burnt Ends were so savory and sweet, I highly recommend them! I loved trying a flight of Oysters. Their descriptions of each oyster were spot on and I knew exactly what I was getting. I also got the Clam Chowder (so fresh and hearty) and Crab Hush Puppies (savory and sweet, crispy and delicious). My husband got the Halibut Fish and Chips and the fish was cut thick and was warm and flakey, a perfect cut of fish prepared to melt in your mouth! Go visit them, you won't be disappointed!

Oysters were delicious! I honestly don't remember how many doz we ordered but they were fresh and chilled nicely. My fav was the high roller. The biscuits with their signature butter and jam were good enough to just to leave me wanting more mote more! 5/5 Hush puppies are a must! 5/5 I personally wasn't a fan of their canned drinks but other maybe. They were pretty strong though. Everyone we encountered was fun and welcoming. Our server even gave is great recommendations for night shenanigans

If you're looking for a top-tier seafood spot in Downtown Austin, Skipjack Oyster is a must-visit. The vibe is perfectly balanced; clean, semi-upscale, and polished without feeling stuffy. The food was incredible from start to finish. We leaned heavily into the seafood, and it did not disappoint: the oysters were fresh and high-quality, the shrimp cocktail was excellent, and those ceviche shooters were a delicious highlight. If you go, do yourself a favor and order the crab hush puppies--they are absolutely addicting. Even the Wagyu burger was standout, proving they can handle the turf just as well as the surf. What really elevated the night, though, was the exceptional service. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and offered great suggestions that hit the mark. The kitchen was fast, and the staff was so attentive that my water glass never even reached the halfway point before being refilled. It's rare to have a meal where literally everything is great, but Skipjack nailed it. I'll definitely be back!

My family picked this place out of a list I gave them for Christmas Eve Dinner. And let me say this - it was our favorite meal of the trip. We had reservations, and there was no wait when we arrived. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Open design with luminous lighting set the mode for the evening. From our booth, we could easily see the oyster bar and the cocktail bar. Service was excellent with the whole crew assisting to ensure your evening is going well and you have everything you need, any time you need it. We have a few different cocktails and all were good, but man on man - the martini was the best I've ever had! Crisp, smooth, with the slightest hint of citrus. I had a few ;) The oysters were some of the best, too! Clean and fresh! The calamari was decent, but that was the only thing I wasn't really blown away by. All the other dishes were "chef's kiss"! And I don't know how we did it, but we made it to dessert! Both were good, but let's be real - it was just too much LOL. Overall - I really loved this place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

    Clam chowder $11

Skipjack Oyster is a relatively new restaurant located in the Westin hotel downtown and I had dinner there recently. Inside it has an upscale feel and look to it with dark lighting in the evening giving it a romantic vibe to it. It has its own separate street entrance but is also accessible through the hotel lobby. The restaurant specializes in oysters and has a full bar attached to the main dining room. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder to start $11 followed by the prime rib stroganoff for another $29. The chowder arrived first as requested. In a shallow bowl it had bacon, celery and potato with the clams. I liked it (3.5). When the stroganoff arrived it was initially served luke warm. After testing it and informing our waitress it was sent back for a new dish. This took another 15 minutes or so. When the new plate arrived it was hot as it should be. The entree had grilled mushrooms and crispy onions on top of the prime rib and pasta. Taste wise I thought it was ok but nothing special (3). The temperature problem was handled very professionally by the waitstaff along with the manager coming by for a visit. I will say I was impressed by that level of service. I give an overall score of a 3 for taste reasons only. I would be happy to return here but would try something else next time. This restaurant is probably more like a 4 star place but this was my experience.

Best deal on oysters around and they have it every weekend for brunch. Everything was delicious and the service was great.

I went here for a networking happy hour event at SXSW and thought the service, food, and ambiance were all above and beyond. I can't wait to go back for dinner to get the full experience. We loved our server Solo. I enjoyed their crisp Australian Sauvignon Blanc with the apps on the buffet including bbq shrimp and grits, crab hushpuppies, fried green tomatoes, tuna poke (my top fav),and veggie tarts. I didn't get to try any oysters at this event, but I am a big oyster fan, so I will be back to the oyster bar soon! Beautiful space located in the Westin lobby. They have their own entrance or you can enter through the lobby.

Wow wow wow. Certainly will be back to Skipjack!! Hubbie and I came in for a date night and had the best time. We ordered a handful of different items from brisket burnt ends, oysters, Linquini & Clams, seafood platter and more. We even got the Tito's Oyster shooter and it was BOMB! Seriously can't speak highly enough of this place. Looking forward to coming back!

Food was amazing. I can't wait to go back for their all night happy hour on Mondays The lobster avocado toast was my favorite the burnt fruit is a nice and different flavor on toast. The fries were also really good. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, fish (on the fish and chips) had a nice crunch and barely breaded.

Skipjack Oyster is the newest addition to the Westin Austin Downtown, taking over the former Stella San Jac space. For my fellow East Coast oyster aficionados--PSA: East Coast oysters are available for either $3/oyster or $15/half dozen during happy hour. Happy hour runs Mondays from 3pm-close and Tuesday-Sunday from 3pm-6pm. IN: ALL the East Coast oysters, Shrimp & Lobster Roll (refreshing, light, despite how large it looks) with the VIP: Crab Hush Puppies. They have two house canned specialties, I had the First Mate: Coconut-rested Espolòn Blanco with watermelon and lime, and could not get enough!!! OUT: Chowder Fries (literally chowder plopped on fries), Kennebec Chips & Salmon Dip (on the fence with this one, LOVE the fresh crisps, & dip is delicious, but after a while, it begins to become too salty and creamy)

Parking was a little hard to come by in the neighborhood, but not impossible. I ended up waiting a little over 1.5 hrs after checking in with the hostess and we were able to snag the very last plate of paella! I've had my fair share of paella and I'm in no way a paella snob, but this one missed the mark for me. 1) the portion did not reflect the $34 price tag. 2) portions of the rice were undercooked and very hard. 3) it was way too salty. It did come with a mix of mussels, clams, shrimp, and sausage, with a side of toast, but I can't justify this part of the experience. We also ordered calamari and croquetas. The croqueta was delicious and flavorful, but the calamari didn't stand out. It tastes like any other calamari. The ambiance itself is cute and the service was great, but the food was lacking.

From the moment we sat down, the service set a phenomenal tone for the meal. Our server, Avery, genuinely took the time to ask what we were interested in, thoughtfully guiding us through the menu with recommendations that were, frankly, unbelievable. Every single suggestion was spot-on. As for the food, every dish that arrived at the table was a masterpiece: The Brunch Plate: A beautifully classic, elevated breakfast. The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, seasoned with a light touch of pepper and spice. Paired with perfectly golden, crispy hash browns, savory sausage, thick-cut toast, and a rich fruit compote, it was a flawless, hearty start to the day. The Beet & Citrus Salad: A vibrant, refreshing standout. The earthy depth of roasted red and golden beets paired wonderfully with bright, juicy citrus segments, creamy crumbled cheese, and fresh greens. It was beautifully balanced, incredibly fresh, and a perfect contrast of textures. The Pesto Pasta: Absolutely spectacular. The pasta shape held onto the rich, flavorful pesto sauce perfectly, which was tossed with fresh spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and tender chicken, all finished with a generous dusting of parmesan. It was savory, comforting, and packed with bright, fresh flavor. Between the flawless, attentive service and the phenomenal quality of the kitchen, they made this Father's Day incredibly memorable. Rosé Gosé (note accents) is in an unassuming Airport Blvd location (right next to Jewboy Burgers, an Austin favorite). It is run by a couple from Belarus that came here right after Covid to open up a restaurant, with a sister in Minsk. Defying expectations, the menu is not Balkan at all. If anything, there is a strong Asian influence with poke bowls and a lot of seafood. But the menu also offers beef tartare on their raw bar menu, as well as a steak offering and grilled chicken. It's a diverse and adventurous menu, all the way from small plates to hefty mains and vegetable sides. For the dessert, try the pavlova, a meringue confection stuffed with coconut mousse and topped with lime sorbet and a grapefruit slice sidecar. Everything is superbly presented, and unquestionably fresh and healthy without veering into twigs and berries territory. The cocktail menu is also playful, with a lot of nontraditional glassware and slight spins on popular drinks; their version of a Paloma uses prosecco instead of a splash of soda. The servers are all dressed in rosé jumpsuits and very attentive. The space is amiable and elegant without being pretentious. The table spacing is a little close, so that conversations carry between guests. The table setting has some nice touches, like the little wooden bench that holds your fork and knife off the table. In European fashion, water can be asked for but it won't be served with ice. Plan on taking your time and enjoying course after course.

Rosé Gosé was a delightful Mother's Day lunch spot. It is a whole vibe, and it is uniquely French! When we walked in an artist was playing romantic music on his keyboard, which set the tone for the brunch. It is a small restaurant inside with a larger area of seating on the patio. Of course, our reservations were inside in the comforts of air conditioning. You immediately notice a wine wall hence the name Rosé Gosé. The restaurant has many windows which provide lots of natural light. The tables house miniature yellow roses and utensils sat in a small wooden block...very French. All the servers were dressed in mauve clothing that resemble scrubs from a hospital. If someone stepped out in a French beret, I would have fallen over. Our server, Sergey, immediately served us water and took our order. The restaurant was highlighted as a modern European bistro. The atmosphere was charming, elegant, and stylish making it ideal for a Mother's Day brunch. My hubby ordered a ribeye, eggs and French Fries. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and egg whites. While I'm not a huge red meat eater, I tasted a piece of the hubs ribeye and it was nicely prepared. My avocado toast was yummy to the nth degree! Everything was perfect. The avocado was precisely cut and at the right level of softness. The salmon was chopped into tiny little squares and so enjoyable to eat. We could not be more pleased. With a name like Rosé Gosé you would expect their drinks to be superb. My hubby ordered a hibiscus tea, which was delightful. I ordered a mimosa that had high quality ingredients and was perfectly balanced...so smooth. We were also pleased with the drinks. This was the first time at Rosé Gosé, however, it definitely will not be the last.
