This is my go-to place for cinnamom rolls and biscuits. It is right in the middle of everything so you can walk off all the calories afterwards. The place is cozy and inviting. Our waiter, Jonathan B, was amazing. He told us about the daily happy hour which will have to come back and check out. He was so nice and checked on us regularly. The cinnamon roll was so good! It's big enough to share and the center is still ooey-gooey deliciousness. There is a perfect balance of icing so it doesn't overpower the roll itself. The Standard biscuit is delicious. The biscuits were hot and moist, and the potato beignets had a great texture in addition to great flavor. The ambiance is nice, moody and southern vibes. We came in on Friday evening and it wasn't very busy, but there didn't seem to be anyone at the host stand. It was my birthday and my family thought this would be a fun place to celebrate it. Per usual this place is super cute quirky and just the right level comfortable and the staff is warm and inviting. Because he was so well acquainted with the menu, he was able to assist us in making the proper decisions that resulted in everyone enjoying their food thoroughly. My husband told me he likes this restaurant 100 times more and can't wait to return. We started off with smoked salmon, dip, deviled eggs, and of course the biscuits. 10 out of 10 will 100% order that again everyone loved what they got. As with every good southern restaurant, they had excellent tea. I got the iced hibiscus berry. My daughter got the iced hibiscus and mint, great presentation. Delicious taste. We moved onto the main course I ordered the pork chops. I substituted brussels sprouts and skipped the collard greens decided on a beet salad for my vegetable. My daughter got the fried chicken and a Caesar salad. My husband went with fish with a side of broccolini. He had the salmon and said more than once it was cooked to perfection and was really delicious. He also stated he would come back and order that once again. Something to keep in mind our last visit a few years back my husband didn't like it and thought what he ordered was too spicy. This time around, we had an excellent waiter that gave us so many details about the food that we were able to tailor what we were ordering to our taste. Where are we going? Our server John was awesome, so nice and interesting to talk to, but have I talked about the food yet? The biscuits here are legendary. And probably the hottest biscuits fresh out of the oven I've ever had. Fresh, flakey and they have that homemade taste and texture. Awesome biscuits. Everything was phenomenal and just the right amount of food for all of us to try many things on the menu. My favorite had to be their potatoes. Another thing I neglected last time I was in Austin was that I should probably try actual Southern food. Fixe Southern House's chef hails from Louisiana, and I could definitely see the influence. Ordered the Pimento Cheese, Smoked Trout Dip, Shrimp & Grits, and Lobster & Crawfish Pot Pie. My favorite was definitely the Lobster & Crawfish Pot Pie, it was loaded with lobster and crawfish! And honestly, who doesn't love a good pot pie? Shrimp & Grits were a bit interesting, as it definitely didn't taste how I would have expected. That was probably due to to the sweet corn chow chow, which gave it a sweeter flavor than I preferred. Still good, but I prefer my shrimp and grits to be savory not sweet. Smoked Trout Dip was a safe pick. And obviously, when I see Pimento Cheese on the menu, I need to get it! Service here was great, no complaints whatsoever. Another successful corporate dinner last Thursday! We started at the bar while waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The bartender was amazing, very friendly, knowledgeable , and easy in the eyes lol! They can make just about every drink you can think of. The lights were dim and candles were lit everywhere. Potato Beignets with a spicy ranch sauce. They were fried to perfection and the sauce was amazing. We also had Deviled eggs that were creamy and delicious. The biscuits were soft and buttery and came with a variety of spreads. We also had the trout dip but that is not pictured. It was smoothy and creamy and paired well with the dark chips they served with it. I had the fried chicken with slaw as my main. The chicken was crispy with a sweet and slight spiciness to it. The inside was very juicy. The slaw was crunchy and very flavorful. I took some of the leftover spicy ranch sauce and added that to the chicken. It was a knockout combination. I ordered the blackberry cobbler for dessert to go. I didn't eat any of it until the next day. IT WAS AMAZING!!! Not too sweet but had a nice natural blackberry flavor and granola crumbles. First time here for a business meeting and we thought it was a good place for a business lunch. They have background music, but it wasn't that loud that you can't hear the other one talking. It is especially sinful paired with the whipped butter, some sort of housemaid preserves, and honey. Deviled eggs - 4.5/5. beautiful dish and tastes so delicious too. I must get if you like eggs. Brussels sprouts -4/5 perfectly roasted brussels sprout - crispy and nicely balance between sweetness from honey and saltiness from the bacon. Fixe Chopped salad with seared Salmon filet (+$18) as a side of protein - 4.5/5 seared salmon was cooked very well and salad was good to however such steep price for a salad. Overall, I really like the restaurant for the food and the atmosphere and would come back for the biscuits alone or one of their biscuit sandwiches. Made a reservation online, after reading all the great reviews and seeing the listed, unspecified menu on their website. Saw a few dishes that my family and I would want to eat, so I reserved our lunch to celebrate my Mom's birthday. Upon arrival at 12:40p on a Friday, the place had one 8 top and was nearly empty. My reservation was entirely unnecessary. That should have been a sign. Though empty, our table for five was put in a table normally for 4 with the host adding a chair. No idea why we were not sat in many of the other available tables for a more comfortable accommodation. Definitely no Southern hospitality here! They had to make sure the waitress, who was the bartender had easy access. Things that went wrong: 1. They only offered a Lunch Menu...which was not listed on their website. Lunch menu offered everything alacarte and was not what we were expecting. When asked if the kitchen would offer the full menu, waitress flat out said no. But didn't bother to ask what we were looking for. 2. Waitress was pushy. Tried to upsell and not listen to my questions. "I get it, your biscuits are delicious, and they were...but we also have diet restrictions at the table, so stop pushing (after two denials), one order for the table is enough." In addition to the biscuits, we also ordered 2 orders of their deviled eggs for the table for 5. 3. Pulled pork sandwich had to be sent back. The pork tasted freezer burnt. Three people at my table tasted it and confirmed. I had to ask for it to be taken off the tab. We actually do not normally send food back..., but this was not edible. 4. Salad #1 was over dressed to where the lettuce was completely wilted and over seasoned. Gulf shrimp was good. 5. Salad #2 was supposedly a Cesar Salad, that was made by a confused chef, as it should have been called "carrot salad." We get the southern twist, but omg, it had a full shaved carrot in a lunch portion. Grilled salmon was good. 6. Burger had stale bread and was dry. 7. Shrimp and grits were decent but had a pool of oil at the top from the corn relish topping. Overall, biscuits and the deviled eggs were the highlights. But for a $180 lunch with no cocktails for terrible food...it's a hard pass. It was very disappointing for my Mom's birthday lunch. I do not recommend Fixe Southern for lunch. They need to update their menus for their website as their lunch menu is sub-par to their "southern" claim. They need to step it up, as Austin has a competitive restaurant scene. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. I was thinking they had more egg dishes but their menu was totally different since I found them when searching for Eggs Benedict. It wasn't on their menu so I was initially upset but when I heard from the waitress that speciality were their sandwiches and fried chicken I instantly pivoted. My friend ordered their chicken biscuit, a side of antebellum grits and I opted for their chicken sandwich and a Blood Mary. Their iced tea is the bomb is freshly brewed table side, How awesome is that? They have some sort of turbo ice tea brewer that sits atop a carafe filled with ice cubes. A simple press on the ice tea brewer and all the tea is injected into the carafe. It is definitely a show. If I only knew I would've recorded the process. The dishes were great. My friend said his biscuit sandwich was great and wasn't dry. My sandwich was really tasty and the fried chicken was moist. Will definitely try them again. It's a little dark inside and the windows from the outside are well tinted so it might seem that there is no one inside but try them out if you can. I only knocked off a star because the server refused to drop off a carafe of coffee, insisting she would keep the cup full. It took almost 10 min to get the first cup so I pressed for a carafe. 10+ min for the next cup which she filled from a carafe 4' away from our table. Being from the south, I KNOW what good southern food is! Given that Fixe's menu features so many classic hits, but with a $$$ price, I was definitely hesitant. Arriving for a dinner reservation, the ambiance of the restaurant is warmly lit and inside feels like a vintage Southern house. The space is adorned with antique-style mirrors on the walls, ornate ceiling fixtures, endless wood furniture and accents, and even a cozy patio with string lights.
