If you're a fan of seafood, I highly recommend checking out Salt Traders! They have a large menu offering a variety of different dishes, some more casual and some fancier. During my visit, I ordered a variety of oysters from the raw bar to share with my husband alongside the shrimp and lobster roll. I was super impressed with everything I had. The oysters tasted really fresh and their cocktail sauce here was tasty. The shrimp and lobster roll was different from what I've tried from other places because the filling was cold instead of warm. I thought this change was refreshing and was perfect because it was a hot day. Service here was exceptionally friendly! Our server would check up on us often and was super conversational. I appreciate all the recommendations she shared alongside being really thorough when telling us the difference between the different oysters the restaurant offered. I'd describe the ambiance here as elevated casual.
After a long day of swimming in Austin I was craving oysters and after doing some looking around, I stumbled upon salt traders. I had never been, but it was really close to where I was at, so I gave it a try. First things first, this a beautiful location with lots of seating at the bar and throughout the restaurant. The service is A1, I sat at the bar and was very impressed with the team's chemistry back there (especially while training someone new, they were spot on). The drinks were wonderful as well, very refreshing and lots of flavor. I enjoyed a yuzu & lavender sour & a grapefruit margarita and was impressed with how flavor forward the drinks were while still having a great boozy after effect. Also, I know traditionally oysters aren't usually a thing that you enjoy during the months that don't have an R in them, but I have to say salt traders definitely defied that "rule". Hands down some of my favorite oysters I have EVER had; I enjoyed the Va Va Vooms from Maryland and the Demariscotta Oysters from Maine and still haven't been able to stop thinking about them (it's been about a week or so now & I'm already planning to go back)! I also enjoyed the torched scallop nigiri, the daily crudo, and the salmon plate (that Dijon bbq sauce was craaaazy good, I'll have to order an extra serving of the sauce on the side next time I enjoyed it so much). Lastly, this place has an amazing happy hour, which I noticed fills up fast. Highly recommend going to Salt Trader's if you haven't yet. Great spot for solo dining, with your partner in crime, or bringing a group!

Food was awesome. Perfect post lake date with the misses for seafood Sunday. Birria tacos were really good. Civeche was on point. Oysters were good and change regularly. My lady loved the chowder but I preferred the gumbo. Looking forward to coming back again. Thanks to the helpful and smiling bartenders Ginsia & Skylar.
It's a Jack Allen restaurant. I love that they keep up with the tradition of the chip and dip to get you excited. This one has crab in it though. YUMMM. My pasta was delicious except the seafood (lobster and shrimp) was overcooked. Pasta and sauce was great though. The fish and chips was a large portion and the fries came out perfect. The oysters from New England were tasty. Our server had a really cool name and was friendly and attentive. It's a large place with lotsa seating and not that busy on a Tuesday evening thunderstorm.
The oysters were pretty good. Had fresh and clean taste. The sauces that come with them had the right kick to elevate the flavor. However, I didn't really enjoy the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp. It was nicely presented, but there was a slightly off flavor that didn't quite work for me.
On our first visit, we ordered several dishes and particularly enjoyed the Gumbo, Seared Scallop Nigiri, Salmon Crudo, and Fish & Chips. The service was excellent.
Visited here for the first time on Memorial Day... my family and I had a great time. The atmosphere was pretty busy and the servicewas exceptional. Our food was really tasty especially the fish dip!
My sister's a pescatarian now so we have less options for going out to eat dinner. This neighborhood spot we always drive by, so it was to cool to finally try it. We went on a rainy Friday at the tail end of happy hour. The restaurant wasn't that busy but there were folks in all serving sections. We got seated next to a large family but they left soon after we arrived. We had the smoked fish dip and cajun butter shrimp to share. Both were okay, I almost preferred the dip & chips because there weren't enough shrimp. I had the scallop risotto, tried a bite of the red fish daily special, and had a couple bites of the shrimp and grits. I didn't feel like any dish was spectacular, but I wasn't disappointed either. I'd say this spot met my expectations -- we probably won't come back though.

We came here for a happy hour (3:30-6:30 T-Fr) as they have $5 off all beginnings and discounted oysters. Here's what we ordered: 1. New Orleans BBQ Shrimp - tasty and a pretty big portion with freshly grilled bread 2. Steamed Mussels - another bigger portion app that had a really nice white wine butter sauce 3. Grilled Oysters - these were excellent and I could've ordered many more portions 4. Clam Chowda - bowl was a big portion and super filling so could've probably just done the cup. 5. Shrimp & Grits - this was just ok in my opinion. We've had way better 6. Lastly ended with the creme brulee which was good but the topping of white powdered chocolate (?) and sorbet was such a weird pairing and did not go well. Overall this would be 3.5 stars. Nothing here that I'd crave and want to come back for but not a bad meal either. Convenient location next to so many offices and Westlake, and plenty of parking.
This place is really nice when you walk in they greet you and are very helpful. During lunchtime and dinner it can be a rush hour. If you could make a reservation go for it I'm not sure if you can. I haven't looked into that. We went because they were hosting a teacher appreciation Day and we're giving us teachers free meals. I have been hearing in the past for their seafood food boils and they're delicious as well. I chose the blackened chicken Caesar salad salad without anchovies and I have to say it was delicious. The chicken was so fresh and perfectly grilled and the dressing was just very nice. My friend got the crispy shrimp bowl and I tried it and it was delicious. I literally just mixed it all and it was phenomenal. I also wanted to try some of their oysters. Those were not on the menu for teachers, but they were very well priced, and I have to say they were delicious. They were not fishy. They were not grainy. They were just perfectly silky and a little sweet. Overall great place they were so sweet. They kept thinking us for being teachers. They even gave us a cute little apple. I definitely would keep coming back here since our food is really good.

Excellent!! From the moment you walk in the door, you feel the vibe, it's cool, classy, and laid-back! The menu is full of incredible options, you're sure to find something that inspires your palate, and satisfies your belly!! Our server, Lila, is a beautiful person full of joy, and clearly loves what she does! We were there with friends, and enjoyed a beverage before ordering food; even the drink menu has something you probably haven't tried before! #GoForIt! The food is incredible, served hot and fresh. The flavors in every appetizer and entrée were pure perfection! I have never been a Salmon fan... but I LOVED their Salmon appetizer, and look forward to having it again! I don't remember what we all had, but EVERY dish was prepared to perfection and served with HEART!! It was our first time there, and we will definitely return. Thank you, Lila, for making our first visit memorable! If you're wondering if this place is worth a visit, don't think .. just go, and enjoy yourself; you'll be glad you did! I'm actually kind of sad that I haven't tried this place out yet. It's been on my list for quite some time as I drive by every single weekend. finally decided to pop in and was able to grab a seat at the bar. The bar definitely had plenty of TVs, so if you're sports person. You could easily catch a game while here. One of the Table tents, notified guest of a happy hour for oysters, which I'm not an oyster fan, but hey to each their own. Had to try out the clam chowder and it was one of the best clam chowder I've had quite some time. You could easily taste the clams at a really nice consistency not too thin, not too thick and I didn't even have to add any salt to it. It was just really tasty. When the clam trotter was delivered, I happened to look at what other plates were on the serving tray ready to go out in one of them happen to be this phenomenal salmon dish. I asked the gentleman what it was and he said it was his favorite dish on the menu, so of course had to try it the salmon dish absolutely out of this world the glaze on it side. It came with it. Everything just fit really well together and y'all that plate was clean by the time it went back. This place is definitely on my shortlist as I really would like to try some of their other plates again that salmon and the clam chowder really made an impression and highly rate this place if you're looking for a good seafood place in Austin. The vibe of the restaurant was laid-back, but also very open, clean setting clean lines plenty of light and they even had really clean restrooms. Great food and perfect for families! We went with a group on an early Friday night and were a bit nervous since we were with a stroller/infant but they were very accommodating and we saw multiple other families. We shared the large seafood tower which was good but a bit underwhelming for the price to be honest. The rest of our dishes were great and so were the drinks. We would return! read more

Amazing service. Great pairing recommendation for wine and oysters. I will say the oysters and wine were great but I wouldn't go for the ceviche. I love ceviche and I couldn't eat it. But other than that, I will definitely be back for the oysters! I believe our servers name was Austen. Very kind :) read more
The fish sandwich was solid. Well put together and not too much food. We ordered a wide variety of oysters as well that were all extremely tasty. Our service was rock solid. The place itself feels like a typical chain restaurant. But if you want good seafood with a diverse menu, this is your place. Cheers! read more

I do not give too many 5 stars, but this place, this time, this visit, got it. A friend who lives in Kyle, has never been here and I was traveling so this place he recommended. From the beginning walking in, not busy at all but maybe we were early, through our 3 hour convesation and meal that place was super packed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the furniture to the staff. The server was a young thang but very knowledgable of their menu minus some of the cocktails. From the appetizers to the 3 courses ordered, desert and cocktails it was magnificent. Definitely would like ot try more menu options next time in Austin. read more

My husband and I visited Austin, TX for the weekend with another couple, and I was searching for a nice local seafood restaurant. I found Salt Traders on Yelp, and although I am usually skeptical when trying a new place, this restaurant was definitely a hit! The food was extremely delicious and truly a reward for the taste buds. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The service was also amazing. Our waiter, Corral, provided excellent service from start to finish. He did not make us feel rushed at all, and he took the time to answer our questions and even recommended places to go for live music in Austin. Salt Traders gave us a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great seafood, excellent service, and a welcoming local restaurant. My final recommendation is a strong 5 out of 5 stars. This restaurant is especially well-suited for seafood lovers, couples, friends enjoying a night out, and visitors looking for an authentic local dining experience in Austin. read more
Another exceptionally fantastic evening at Salt Trader's. Our server Matthias had some incredible suggestions. The oyster selection was phenomenal, but the highlight this evening was the Hokkaido scallops over a fall squash risotto. It's the most expensive dish on the menu, but honestly worth more. Whoever and however they are sourcing these scallops: they are among the freshest and highest quality I've ever been served anywhere... The pastry chef is at it again with this deconstructed pumpkin cake with a no-bake pumpkin cheese cake upper. Topped with toasted pumpkin seed crumble and salt caramel drizzle: pure bliss. Pair this meal with a Chopin martini or a Spanish white and you're in for a sublime experience. We will be frequenting Salt Trader's again since the Oyster season is in full swing. They are really outdoing themselves over there! read more
I came to Salt Traders for the happy hour from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.. Cocktails are $1 off and Beginnings are $5 off during happy hour. The restaurant vibe is very coastal and beqchy. I started off with the Cantarito cocktail with tequila, fresh citrus juices, and grapefruit soda, typically served in a clay cup called a jarrito de barro or cántaro. I ordered the steamed mussels with andouille, garlic, charred tomato, white wine, herb butter, grilled bread and the grilled oysters that I customized with Parmesan herb garlic butter. The oysters were a good size and had a great texture and taste. I also ordered a frozen grapefruit margarita with Monte Alban 100% Agave Silver, Paula's Grapefruit, lime, grapefruit, citrus salt and the crab fried rice. Other dishes I enjoy here include the Hokkaido Scallop Risotto with basil parmesan risotto, cherry tomato, arugula, roasted pepper crema, crispy garlic, pecorino and the Shrimp Snobb salad with greens, sweet corn, egg, avocado, bacon, tomato,sherry mustard vinaigrette. I can always count on Salt Traders for fresh seafood and great service. read more

My friend and I chose to eat at Salt Traders for two reasons: it was close to Zilker Park, which was having a "Bands in Bloom" concert, and they have a Happy Hour from 4-6pm, with $5 off the "Beginnings" menu. I chose the Steamed Mussels dish with fennel, garlic, charred tomatoes and grilled bread. It was $13, but with the Happy Hour discount, it was only $8....well worth it! The mussels were steamed to perfection, served in a delicious sauce that begged to be sopped up with the grilled bread. I don't normally eat bread, but I couldn't resist. I questioned the slightly burnt bread, but it worked and was worth the diversion from my low-carb gluten-free diet. The server was very pleasant and friendly, always smiling when he came over to the table, and patient with us while we decided from the many menu options. Once we finally ordered, the food came fast. There are lots of fish-related paintings on the walls, reminding me of a seaside restaurant I would see on vacation. read more

Salt Traders might have one of the best happy hour deals around--$1 oysters, discounted appetizers, and solid drinks every day, including weekends. We came on a holiday Monday just before 3 PM, which meant we could catch both the lunch menu and the start of happy hour. If you're into seafood, this place is a gem. Environment: Bright, open, and coastal-chic without being pretentious. The high ceilings, warm wood tones, and ocean-inspired art make the space feel breezy and relaxed. There's a big central bar with glowing amber lights above it, giving off a soft warmth. Service: The staff were kind and upbeat, but once happy hour got busy, things started slipping a bit--our oysters took about 25 minutes to arrive, and our check had to be corrected. That said, everyone stayed friendly, and they made the fixes without a fuss. Now for the food--fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly refined for a place this relaxed: Raw Oysters (happy hour: $1 each) Chilled, clean, and briny--some of the freshest oysters I've had recently and a total steal at a buck apiece. Steamed Mussels (happy hour: $10) Served in a rich charred tomato and white wine broth that we mopped up entirely with the crusty toast. Portion was generous enough to share. Seafood Gumbo (lunch) Deep, dark roux with layers of flavor and just the right amount of heat; small bowl, big flavor. Shrimp Scampi Linguine (lunch-only) Wild Gulf shrimp tossed in lemon white wine butter with garlic-parsley linguine--light, tangy, and perfectly cooked. Would I return? Without a doubt. Next time I'm grabbing a dozen oysters the moment I sit down and exploring more of their happy hour snacks--maybe the fish dip or hushpuppies. Salt Traders is the kind of place I'd gladly put into my regular rotation. read more

Huge seafood fan here, so a friend and I decided to check out their happy hour. The place was busy when we arrived. We didn't have a reservation, but were told we could sit at the bar, which was also filled up quickly. The restaurant is big and spacious with plenty of table and both seating. The staff was pleasant throughout. We ordered the following with happy hour prices: Kickin' Pineapple Nojito $5.00 512 Cocktail $11.00 East Coast Oysters $34.00 Steamed Mussels $10.00 Bread & Butter $5.00 Crudo Plate $15.00 We started with cocktails. My 512 Cocktail was refreshing with a nice kick. It came with Espolon Reposado, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, pineapple syrup, jalapeño, Del Maguey Mezcal, and chile lime salt. The food was fresh and delicious! The oysters were definitely my favorite followed by the steamed mussels. The broth was flavorful and I loved dipping the accompanying bread in it. I recommend Salt Traders, especially to fellow seafood lovers. Their happy hour was very well priced! read more

We ate here for my father's 90th birthday dinner. We sat in the back area, and it was great as it was not as loud as the central area. Kaela was our server and was friendly. From the Jack Allen's family of restaurants, Salt Traders doesn't disappoint. Great service, great ceviche and salads. Good happy hour specials. Would recommend visiting if you're ever in Southwest Austin, they have another location in round rock,which is equally good. They also have a gluten free menu, et which is nice, if you go with someone who is gluten intolerant. read more
This place is solid. Upscale and casual with a varied and eclectic menu of diff proteins - seafood, shrimp, chicken, etc. The menu is a fusion Seafood Texican -- and it was better than I expected. Our group of shared the guacamole and shrimp ceviche to start. For lunch I had the Poblano Chicken Enchiladas -- right on point - wish just enough spice to feel it - but not over power. My family and I decided to go to Salt Traders for a Christmas Eve Eve Lunch. My husband made a reservation online about a week in advance. We drove up, parked easily, and went in. The hostess kindly greeted us and my husband told her that we had a reservation. We were seated quickly. The inside of the restaurant is bright and big with a large bar area, tables and chairs, and booths. Once seated we were greeted by a kind waiter that gave us our menus and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered waters. After getting our waters he took our order. For starters my husband ordered us some bread and butter, and some hush puppies. We were also given a little sampler of salmon and two chips. For my main dish I ordered the steak and fries as my main dish. The bread and butter was good. The bread was nice and thick and the butter gave it a little flavor. The slices of pickles were yummy as they had a sweet flavor. The hush puppies were also good. I don't usually eat them but tried one. They have a crispy exterior and a soft interior. As for the salmon sampler I didn't know what it was and just wanted to try it based on what it looked like and it was delicious. I'm not a fan of seafood and wouldn't have tried it if I knew it was Salmon but I am glad I tried it. The steak and frites was very tasty. The steak itself was cooked medium perfectly and the poblano cream on top of it was very flavorful. The fries also had some flavor but I mixed them with the poblano cream for extra flavor. Overall it was a really good experience. It was easy to make a reservation, everyone was friendly, and the food was delicious. I'd definitely return to try something different next time. read more
