The oysters were pretty good. Had fresh and clean taste. The sauces that come with them had the right kick to elevate the flavor. However, I didn't really enjoy the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp. It was nicely presented, but there was a slightly off flavor that didn't quite work for me.

Really good food. L and I ordered fried fish and shrimp. R had Shrimp and Grits. We had Margaritas to start. Excellent food and good service in a pleasant environment.

Great food and perfect for families! We went with a group on an early Friday night and were a bit nervous since we were with a stroller/infant but they were very accommodating and we saw multiple other families. We shared the large seafood tower which was good but a bit underwhelming for the price to be honest. The rest of our dishes were great and so were the drinks. We would return!

Amazing service. Great pairing recommendation for wine and oysters. I will say the oysters and wine were great but I wouldn't go for the ceviche. I love ceviche and I couldn't eat it. But other than that, I will definitely be back for the oysters! I believe our servers name was Austen. Very kind :)

Continues to impress. Great quality food and service. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Setting continues to be inviting. Highly recommend it for anyone who likes seafood.

The fish sandwich was solid. Well put together and not too much food. We ordered a wide variety of oysters as well that were all extremely tasty. Our service was rock solid. The place itself feels like a typical chain restaurant. But if you want good seafood with a diverse menu, this is your place. Cheers!

This place is really nice when you walk in they greet you and are very helpful. During lunchtime and dinner it can be a rush hour. If you could make a reservation go for it I'm not sure if you can. I haven't looked into that. We went because they were hosting a teacher appreciation Day and we're giving us teachers free meals. I have been hearing in the past for their seafood food boils and they're delicious as well. I chose the blackened chicken Caesar salad salad without anchovies and I have to say it was delicious. The chicken was so fresh and perfectly grilled and the dressing was just very nice. My friend got the crispy shrimp bowl and I tried it and it was delicious. I literally just mixed it all and it was phenomenal. I also wanted to try some of their oysters. Those were not on the menu for teachers, but they were very well priced, and I have to say they were delicious. They were not fishy. They were not grainy. They were just perfectly silky and a little sweet. Overall great place they were so sweet. They kept thinking us for being teachers. They even gave us a cute little apple. I definitely would keep coming back here since our food is really good.

Another exceptionally fantastic evening at Salt Trader's. Our server Matthias had some incredible suggestions. The oyster selection was phenomenal, but the highlight this evening was the Hokkaido scallops over a fall squash risotto. It's the most expensive dish on the menu, but honestly worth more. Whoever and however they are sourcing these scallops: they are among the freshest and highest quality I've ever been served anywhere... The pastry chef is at it again with this deconstructed pumpkin cake with a no-bake pumpkin cheese cake upper. Topped with toasted pumpkin seed crumble and salt caramel drizzle: pure bliss. Pair this meal with a Chopin martini or a Spanish white and you're in for a sublime experience. We will be frequenting Salt Trader's again since the Oyster season is in full swing. They are really outdoing themselves over there!

I came to Salt Traders for the happy hour from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.. Cocktails are $1 off and Beginnings are $5 off during happy hour. The restaurant vibe is very coastal and beqchy. I started off with the Cantarito cocktail with tequila, fresh citrus juices, and grapefruit soda, typically served in a clay cup called a jarrito de barro or cántaro. I ordered the steamed mussels with andouille, garlic, charred tomato, white wine, herb butter, grilled bread and the grilled oysters that I customized with Parmesan herb garlic butter. The oysters were a good size and had a great texture and taste. I also ordered a frozen grapefruit margarita with Monte Alban 100% Agave Silver, Paula's Grapefruit, lime, grapefruit, citrus salt and the crab fried rice. Other dishes I enjoy here include the Hokkaido Scallop Risotto with basil parmesan risotto, cherry tomato, arugula, roasted pepper crema, crispy garlic, pecorino and the Shrimp Snobb salad with greens, sweet corn, egg, avocado, bacon, tomato, sherry mustard vinaigrette. I can always count on Salt Traders for fresh seafood and great service.

My friend and I chose to eat at Salt Traders for two reasons: it was close to Zilker Park, which was having a "Bands in Bloom" concert, and they have a Happy Hour from 4-6pm, with $5 off the "Beginnings" menu. I chose the Steamed Mussels dish with fennel, garlic, charred tomatoes and grilled bread. It was $13, but with the Happy Hour discount, it was only $8....well worth it! The mussels were steamed to perfection, served in a delicious sauce that begged to be sopped up with the grilled bread. I don't normally eat bread, but I couldn't resist. I questioned the slightly burnt bread, but it worked and was worth the diversion from my low-carb gluten-free diet. The server was very pleasant and friendly, always smiling when he came over to the table, and patient with us while we decided from the many menu options. Once we finally ordered, the food came fast. There are lots of fish-related paintings on the walls, reminding me of a seaside restaurant I would see on vacation.

Salt Traders might have one of the best happy hour deals around--$1 oysters, discounted appetizers, and solid drinks every day, including weekends. We came on a holiday Monday just before 3 PM, which meant we could catch both the lunch menu and the start of happy hour. If you're into seafood, this place is a gem. Environment: Bright, open, and coastal-chic without being pretentious. The high ceilings, warm wood tones, and ocean-inspired art make the space feel breezy and relaxed. There's a big central bar with glowing amber lights above it, giving off a soft warmth. Service: The staff were kind and upbeat, but once happy hour got busy, things started slipping a bit--our oysters took about 25 minutes to arrive, and our check had to be corrected. That said, everyone stayed friendly, and they made the fixes without a fuss. Now for the food--fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly refined for a place this relaxed: Raw Oysters (happy hour: $1 each) Chilled, clean, and briny--some of the freshest oysters I've had recently and a total steal at a buck apiece. Steamed Mussels (happy hour: $10) Served in a rich charred tomato and white wine broth that we mopped up entirely with the crusty toast. Portion was generous enough to share. Seafood Gumbo (lunch) Deep, dark roux with layers of flavor and just the right amount of heat; small bowl, big flavor. Shrimp Scampi Linguine (lunch-only) Wild Gulf shrimp tossed in lemon white wine butter with garlic-parsley linguine--light, tangy, and perfectly cooked. Would I return? Without a doubt. Next time I'm grabbing a dozen oysters the moment I sit down and exploring more of their happy hour snacks--maybe the fish dip or hushpuppies. Salt Traders is the kind of place I'd gladly put into my regular rotation.

Amazing, chef's kiss! The Canadian oysters were so fresh and none briny. My kids loved the macaroni and cheese and burgers. My caesar salad was enormous it could serve two!

Ask the Community - Salt Traders Zilker

Is there any outside dining for Happy Hour at your Zilker location? LW (Thanks) I

No, there is no outdoor dining at Salt Traders.

Are there gluten free menu options?

    Oysters are gluten free!

Any vegan or vegetarian options? Didn't see a lot of fresh veggies on menu.

Your right, they don't really have vegan or vegetarian options. I only remember grilled asparagus...and that's it. I wonder if they could make a vegan salad for you though, most of the time the wait staff are willing to go the extra mile and make… Read more

We're flying in for the weekend does anyone have stone crab on their menu?

Your best bet would be Trulucks at either their downtown or Arboretum locations.

Are there patio / outdoor seating?

They only have a couple of small tables outside but yes!

Is it kid-friendly? Do they have a kid's menu?

I didn't see kids on the menu, but they do have oysters.

What times and days are happy hours here?

Monday's 3:30 until -10. Tuesday - Friday 3:30 until 6:30. $1 off drinks and $5 apps (plenty to fill you up)

You are given are complimentary hush puppies. Can't comment on those as hush puppies aren't my personal favorite regardless. We ordered the grilled oysters and calamari as a starter. The oysters were nice and had a small kick with the pepper. The calamari was a bit underwhelming, I've had better else where. I ordered the potato crusted sea bass and a side of brussel sprouts. The dish was buttery and well cooked. The sprouts had a nice flavor and cook to them as well. I would definitely reorder that. The table has shared some Mac and cheese which I enjoyed and tasted the red snapper entree which had a more mild, tomato based flavor that wasn't bad but wasn't life changing. Overall, a lot of the dishes sound appetizing and for the most part were. At this price point I'd want all dishes to be equally as good and that's where one star was taken.

This shows they have good taste, good judgement and want to be near neighboring trucks that serve fine food. * * * How is Pete's? a) Nearly all Cajun seafood is good. Cajun seafood is like chocolate. There is better. There is worse. It is never bad. b) Pete's boiled Cajun shrimp is completely lovely. I would eat this over and over again. Since Pete's is near my house, I intend to become a regular. c) Cajun seafood is much easier to eat in a restaurant than at a food truck. This is because the final concoction is wet (due to the boiling stock) oily (because the oils make things taste good) and bright red (because of the spices.) You are looking at a dry cleaner's dream. In a restaurant you get solid plates and bowls to eat the good stuff in. At Pete's you get a Styrofoam container to hold the mess. This is like using a cotton bag to take home red paint. Fortunately, the slosharound stayed within the plastic bag the Styrofoam container was placed in. But one pinprick and it would have been upholstery cleaning time. d) The spices in Pete's seafood is NOT even. There WILL be the big bites of salt and the big bites of cayenne pepper. Be sure to order boiled potatoes as your side and save two or three to the end. You will need them to put out mouth emergencies. e) The non-emergency bites are wonderful. Having to put out fires with potatoes is a fair price for a meal with a lot of taste thrills. * * * Thumbs up for the seafood. Double thumbs up for the potatoes.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin.
