Came here for an event and got to try a few bites and cocktails. Cocktails were amazing, so flavorful and unique and not too sweet. The steak was amazing and the desert donuts were yummy. I had walked by Parkside many times but never been inside. We had a Yelp event there and decided to meet up early with another Yelp friend for their happy hour. My friend had been before and liked it. I have to say it's a really pretty bar from an interior design aspect. The happy hour prices were good and so were the drinks. My boyfriend was with us and he had crab fritters and really liked them. Our bartender was friendly. Though, the main reason my friend likes the place so much is they carry one of her favorite gins, Malfy. She'd asked the bartender if they had any and he told her no. She was definitely disappointed. Later on, she found out that they did in fact have it and the bartender stated he was new and didn't know they carried it. To me, that's when he should have asked. Benefit of the doubt being given and I am giving four stars. I believe that won't happen in the future. Popped in on a Friday night and sat at the bar. Wasn't busy at all, just one other person at the bar and a few tables with guests. They must have had an event in the upstairs as I kept hearing clapping and cheers. Love try at they have zero proof drinks and I got the Rockford Peaches. Amazing' I could have guzzled it down! For dinner got the Berkshire Blade Steak and the macaroni and cheese. Both items were delicious and the Berkshire Blade steak was cooked perfectly the only thing was the glaze was more like a spread and want evening done. Wasn't a fan of the mint in the topping with everything else coming together. Mac and cheese was hot and creamy with just the right amount of crunch on the top. The kitchen brought out a parsnip dish as well, complimentary; and I don't think I like parsnips. The cheese on it was good, but the taste? Not a fan. Restaurant was clean and modern with the restrooms clean as well. I answered a phone call during my meal and spoke on FaceTime with someone and was told to turn down my volume in this establishment where everyone who had a table of two or more was talking aloud amongst themselves, not sure what about my phone call made my waitress tell me to turn my phone down or end my conversation but I felt that this place has low quality food and low quality service, won't be returning read more

My husband and I came here for Happy Hour and we're currently asking ourselves WHY did we wait so long??!! Sunday-Friday you can get 1/2off select cocktails, beers and foods and the menu is pretty inclusive of what they offer!! To be honest I'm confused on why the ratings at Parkside are so low. In our first time experience here everything was super yummy and the service was also fabulous! Nico was incredibly attentive and did a fantastic job in his recommendations! We ordered every food item off their happy hour menu and while it was all tasty the standouts were definitely the fresh oysters, 7oz burger, the ceviche (was salmon and bass) and the tartare! The egg sandwich was also really tasty, the crab fritters were tasty, but much lighter and airy than expected. The subbed the fries for the grilled sweet potato and holy crap that dish was a game changer!!! Off the regular menu we ordered the lamb pastrami ribs which were very tasty and tender with a nice crisp. We couldn't finish without dessert and are so glad that we got the candy bar dessert! You can't go wrong with anything here and definitely gotta come back for dinner! Do yourself a favor and be sure to check them out ASAP! read more

Stopped by Parkside on 6th Street a little earlier in the evening so we missed what the place probably feels like once it really fills up. Even so the vibe was solid and you could tell this spot comes alive with more people and energy later in the night. The oysters were delicious and easily the highlight of the visit. One of the important boxes that a restaurant should be able to check off is consistency. After probably being almost a decade of stepping foot in this place I can confidently vouch that the flavors are just as good as I remember. How we forgot about this place I don't know. Fast forward to today with now two young kiddos craving oysters - we meet again. We came early during happy hour and the service was on point. I don't think we even had one set waiter. Everyone seemed to work together to help make our experience great. We dined happy hour style and still left with tummies full and satisfied. The oysters were quality and nice and briny like I like it. The seafood was clean and fresh. Seems silly to say this but I've been to other restaurants where that was not the case. All their food was delicious but.... one honorable mention is their french fry. Oh the taste is just as I remembered years ago. Perfect saltiness, perfect cut and thickness, perfect crunch to softness ratio, and do not forget to dip it in their amazing aoili sauce. Bring a date, bring a friend, bring your kiddos. Stumbled upon this place on a night out looking for dinner before we went out for the night. It was close to closing time, but the team there took care of us like we had all night to enjoy our meal. I tried their bacon cheeseburger and it was so good that I could not put it down until it was gone!!! The bacon really brought out the flavor in the beef. We also tried their crab fritters. I didn't get a picture of those, but they are a must try. I would like to go back and try this place during the day. I feel like the vibe would be amazing. I loved the layout of the restaurant and I saw that they have an oyster and champagne special. Those are two of my faves and I HAVE TO come back for that!! It's a pretty, upscale place right on 6th...a little oasis of fancy. Server seemed a bit annoyed but warmed up as we went. They are known for seafood and the oysters were fresh and one of us had the bass that was really good. We had "blade steaks" which were pork??? Ok flavor wise but didn't realize had bones. Appropriately attentive service but a slow kitchen. Everything shareable. A little noisy (@50% occupancy), but I remember McCluskey's being loud as well. Started with the classic platter. Fresh oysters! Ceviche was so-so as was the crude. Not bad but not earth shattering. Same with the beef tartar - needed some acidity for balance. Could've used some more beef as well. Steak and frites: I could go on and on about how great those frites are! The steak was okay. Well cooked and flavorful, but a little chewy. Do appreciate them making two plates out of one portion. Honestly, we used to love this place prior to their two year long renovation. And for the first time since reopening, we went yesterday for their happy hour. They had an extremely poor music choice, as there was non-stop music that sounded exactly the same (latin drum-beat - think "Bad Bunny"). After 3 songs with the same drum-beat and Spanish speaking, I respectfully requested to our waiter and what I thought was the manager and neither of them did anything about it. We left at seven (7) songs in a row; earlier than anticipated. Lastly, the beer & cocktail choices were poor compared to what I remember prior to the construction. I had the beet salad and salmon and my husband had the winter salad and tri/tip. We were given the apple cider doughnuts complimentary. We didn't think we could eat anymore but we devoured them. I wanted to like Parkside, but I was rubbed the wrong way when I went in a few months ago. Parkside runs a pretty generous happy hour where they just do 1/2 off their entire bar menu. I had my eye on the steak tartare before I even went in, and at $7 instead of $14, it was a no brainer. It arrived shortly after I ordered and was presented beautifully. It was a decent portion, but I could tell from the looks it wouldn't be filling. At $7, I was happy, but at $14 I would have been a bit bummed. Sadly, the dish was entirely too salty and I couldn't appreciate the flavor of the beef served. So I said ok, let me try another dish before I have to go. I can't even remember what I ordered as It never arrived. It was another raw dish, and 20+ minutes went by before I told my server to just cancel the order as I was out of time. Not a huge deal I guess, but a second strike after the salty tartare. So the waitress closes me out and hands me a bill for both dishes. She literally closed me out right after I said to cancel it if possible. So she messed up and somehow didn't instantly remove it from the bill. Luckily I caught it, but what if I didn't? Screw ups happen, this one was not so big a deal, but after waiting 20+ minutes for a dish that never came, I wasn't thrilled at having to sort out finding a manager to fix the credit card charge and spend longer in this restaurant not eating. One day I'll return to this restaurant and try some other dishes. Hopefully they're better than the one I had and hopefully they can be a bit more attentive on the service. read more

Parkside was great for a group dinner with some of our clients. It was spacious and we were able to get a table for 14 on the day of (it was a Wednesday night, so it wasn't super busy that night). They had a great selection of apps and drinks to get us started. Some of my favorites were the calamari, the steak tartare, and the bone marrow. For the entree I had the scallops, which were also very good. The plate was larger than I expected - I was expecting 3 or 4 scallops but it came out with six, which for me was a bit too much. It was cooked well and the corn and sauces on the plate all went pretty well with the scallops. I had a good experience here, good enough to recommend Parkside to locals. It wasn't anything too special though to recommend to someone visiting for just a few days. read more

One of the better happy hour deals we've seen in a while. Everything on the menu was 50% off. Granted it was just for one hour (5-6pm) but that is still a great deal. You could really go wild but since we were just stopping of for dinner we restrained ourselves. We ordered the calamari and it was excellent - super light and tender, not a chewy bit in the batch. But I'm not going to give them credit card info just to make a reservation, and I'm not going to let them make $20 just because I've had to cancel due to some unforeseen event. New American eatery located on the west end of the the notorious "Dirty 6th Street" in downtown. I've been here several times over the last few months, and I've always made a point to try different things on the menu each time; everything I've tried has been consistently decent. Nothing really stood out to me as outstanding, but there also hasn't been anything that really stood out as terrible either. The cocktails here aren't bad, either. Overall, however, I think there are better options in the area for the price. One thing that did rub me the wrong way the last time I planned to visit this place was the cancellation fee. I booked an early dinner reservation for 2 people at 4pm (generally a less competitive reservation slot) and had to cancel the same day since the other person in my party had tested positive for COVID that morning. I do understand the purpose for having a cancellation fee policy, but in the pandemic-era and for a relatively casual dining establishment in a city with a very competitive food scene, strictly enforcing the $20 cancellation fee felt a bit inappropriate. read more

The food portion of the menu is minimal, but the wine list was extensive. The food is expensive but well worth it. We ordered oysters that were half off since it was Wednesday. The food was delicious, the service attentive, the prices unbelievably cheap...I could go on and on, but truly can't say enough good things about Parkside. The food: The happy hour deal is amazing -- half off all appetizers, all cocktails, and the burger. Naturally, we almost ordered out the menu, and our bill was still below $100. Standouts include the calamari, which was fried to perfection and well seasoned. I also really liked the beef tartare -- it was a decent portion size, and the tortilla chip it came on was delicious. The sauce was also really, really good, and terrifically spicy. The service: Our server was amazing! She was incredibly sweet, and knew the menu well. The restaurant was pretty empty (we got there at 5 PM, which was when they just opened) and we were able to grab a great booth seat near the window. TLDR: I wish Yelp let us bold words, because I would put this in bold and underline it twice: GO TO PARKSIDE FOR HAPPY HOUR!
