This was by far the best restaurant I went to when in Austin! Between the ambiance, service and food, this is a 10/10. We had a reservation for a party of 10 on a Saturday night. We were sat outside in this beautiful oasis. I didn't even remember I was in Austin, I thought I was in Greece throughout my meal. There were so many different types of seating, an outdoor bar and the whole outdoor area was covered in plant and trees and lights! The outside set up was jaw dropping beautiful. I couldn't believe we didn't get too hot and how beautiful everything outside was. This is a Mediterranean place, so the menu was very heavy on that. I love this kind of food, so I found plenty of option that I would like. To start, as a table, we split the hummus, feta dip and roasted pork belly bites. The whipped feta dip was the best that I have ever had. It came with plenty of pita bread, cucumbers and carrots. It wasn't enough for all of us to eat how much we wanted lol, but we all did try some of it. All of the appetizers were very fresh and light tasting. They came out in a decent amount of time too. For my entree, I got the grilled chicken kabob. After all of the appetizers I had, I wasn't even hungry for dinner, but I did manage to eat some of it. It was a pretty simple but delicious tasting kabob. It was one skewer with half a plate of basmati rice. Idk if it would have filled me up if I didn't have some appetizers, but it certainly was delicious. The service was spot on. I came here for a group brunch and it was very nice. We ordered: 1. Muhammara spread (5/5) 2. Greek salad (5/5) 3. Blackberry biscuit (5/5) 4. Shawarma spiced skirt steak (5/5) 5. Short rib shakshuka (2/5) Everything is so fresh and it was so hard getting a reservation and now I know why. I would order everything again except the shakshuka. The shakshuka lacked flavor, which was odd since everything else was super flavorful. The short rib was a little tough and the poached egg still had runny whites we subbed out the potatoes in the shawarma skirt steak for brussel sprouts, which was totally worth it. I would love to come back for dinner and try their fish. Service was 5/5. Our waitress was super friendly and checked up on us. The food runners were very prompt. All the starters and mezze came out pretty fast so we always had food. I love how they give unlimited pita and their pita is so good! Having been to Ema, we wanted to try Aba which has been in Austin longer. It was harder to get a reservation at Aba. The parking situation is a bummer at Aba though, which is why I gave it 4/5. The parking garage next door is $35. I think you can get $3 off from Aba. We parked somewhere else, which was also a bit pricey and a hassle. You're lucky if you can find street parking. Being a native Austinite, I both love and dislike how Austin has exploded. I wish the parking garage would work something out with Aba. Perla's, before it burned down, validated parking for 2hrs down the street. Too bad you can't get that here. Final verdict is that it's worth the hassle to park to eat here but I probably won't come as often because parking is a friction point. We were able to have a larger party dinner on the patio outside. It was wonderful weather and our servers were great and attentive. We had a pre-set meal and they brought out plenty of portions for the table, so no one got hungry! Stars of the show for me were the brussels sprouts and crispy potatoes! Both were cooked and seasoned so well. We also got salmon and chicken dishes, which were both tender and soft. We ended our meal off with some chocolate cake, which was delicious! We also had some greek yogurt ice cream dessert with sea salt and olive oil, which wasn't the biggest hit at our table -- definitely more of an acquired taste! Absolutely delicious there's not a bad dish on the menu. The number one reason I'm giving you five stars is how generous they are with the military discount. It's a massive discount, although I would probably never pay that much per dish. The Aesthetics are very nice with an outdoor patio that is a joy to sit in . The group favorite dish was the lamb chops , personally I enjoyed both the hummus and the whip feta . My wife really enjoyed the whip feta as it has a nice Tangy taste. Nearby street parking for a fee and a garage nearby. Amazing service, everything came out fresh and very flavorful. Plates are served to share with the table. Tried the 3 dip plate and steak frites. My favorite was the Muhammara dip. The flavor is very bold and addicting I wanted more of it! Each bite was 5dull of flavor and spice. Went here to celebrate someone's birthday. This is my second time here and I will say that the crispy short rib hummus is a staple. The short rib is so good and tender. It's unbelievable, honestly I just need a plate of short rib and I'll be set. As you can see the salad is almost gone before I could even take a picture. It was honestly so good. It was some sort of coleslaw salad I didn't get the specific name for it. The pita was seasoned, which was really yummy. I will say out of the fresh fish options. I prefer the yellowtail that I got last time. It was definitely more flavorful. This tuna dish had a little bit of a bitterness to it. I'm assuming from the lettuce. The kebabs and the rice were so delicious. The rice had a lemony taste to it. The Ambiance was low lit, the weather just happened to be perfect as well, we sat on the outside patio. Yum! My favorite type of food so my bestie booked this in advance for us to have lunch here and I'm so glad she did! They had a wait even at like 1-2pm and we had a lovely patio seat which was cool with the fans and mist machines despite the 110 degree August heat. Beautiful decor and ambiance here and right in a bustling shopping area on South Congress so there is loads to see and do while you're here. We tried the Eggplant Dip and the Poblano Hummus. The hummus was stellar, top 5 ever for me. We also got a Greek salad, potatoes and bread. We ordered the classic hummus and Brussels sprouts to share and then I had the grilled chicken kebab as my entree. Everything was stellar. The chicken was so flavorful and cooked perfectly, so juicy!! And the rice was lemony it was so good. The crab cakes were a hit as well I tried them because my friend got them as her entree and they were so tasty. The food, vibes, and service at Aba were all fantastic. From the drinks to desserts, everything was perfect. I really enjoyed Oasis G & T and Panna Cotta for dessert. The only issue was the glassware. The water glasses had a strong, stale odor, as if they were wiped with a damp, unwashed towel. Updating my review after giving Aba a second chance about nine months later. I'm honestly really glad I came back. This time we went in knowing exactly what we liked from our first visit and focused on sharing appetizers, which ended up being the move. We ordered several dishes for the table and left completely full and happy. The whipped feta is still a must-order and every bit as good as I remembered. The Greek village salad was fresh and delicious, and the hummus was also great. The biggest surprise for me was the falafel. As an Arab, I'm usually pretty skeptical when restaurants outside of Middle Eastern spots serve falafel because it rarely lives up to expectations. Aba absolutely nailed it. It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and one of my favorite dishes of the meal. We sat outside this time, which made for a really nice atmosphere. The service was also a huge improvement from my first experience. Even though the restaurant was busy, our waitress was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. I'm happy to say my opinion has completely changed since my first visit. I really like coming here. Is especially great for just wandering around South Congress. You get to experience a lot from just by sitting outside and watching people walk by. It's a great time. The food is really good. It's a little pricey, but for where you are getting to hang out it's worth it. I also love that every time I go I can just ask someone what do they suggest and I am not lead in the wrong direction. Definitely worth checking out if you're on South Congress. Parking can be a little bit of a pain in the butt. Try side streets if you can and get over the fact that you may have to walk a little. You'll be glad when you leave that it's easier. read more

Can i give this six stars?! Aba is incredible! The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. The lush plants, ambient lighting, beautiful patio seating, and garage doors that open between the bar and patio create a space that feels both vibrant and relaxing. It feels like a perfect place to hang out and stay a while. And then there's the food. The whipped feta appetizer was incredible, and they thoughtfully accommodated my gluten-free request with lavosh-style crackers. The pistachio-crusted halibut was one of the best meals I've ever eaten- perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. And the date cake for dessert was the perfect ending: rich, balanced, and just the right amount of sweet. The service was friendly, attentive, and outstanding from start to finish. My colleague and I were in Austin for work and couldn't find a same-day reservation, but we were able to grab seats at the bar without any trouble. It ended up being the perfect experience. I booked this spot roughly 1 month in advanced, and I was only able to snag a 7:15pm reservation (even as a solo diner). Music Lane is a beautiful area with corridors bustling with fresh air, which greatly contrasts the area not too far south of it. Aba lies within these corridors, so I was completely gobsmacked to see the size of the establishment and its number of seating. There are outdoor tables, a dedicated bar section, a decently large interior, and patio and sofa seats for the people waiting. Even then, the place was completely packed, so getting a reservation is an absolute must. Not only are the prices completely reasonable, the food itself had everything that I was looking for: a delicious spread starter, a balanced fiber dish, and an entree with intentional flavors and texture. The Short Rib Hummus is a must get! It is incredibly filling and completely worth the price. The short rib was a nice meat protein since I opted for a seafood main, and the pita bread that it came with was lightly seasoned and was as fluffy as it could possibly be. I could not eat much of my Brussel Sprouts because it was also very large. However it was not too oily or drenched, and each bite had a perfect light crunch, which is the standard for Fried Brussels Sprouts. Top it all off, the Grilled Branzino was the finisher to my savory dishes. The grill gave the fish a roasted flavor, which was complimented by the sweetness from the corn purée. The various greens, roasted tomatoes, and corn pieces themselves added bites of textures and secondary bursts of flavor. I can see why it took a month in advanced to book a decent time at Aba Austin. The atmosphere was so perfect because the air flows through all the doors and windows, allowing the diners to enjoy fresh oxygen. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city, Aba transported us to a different world from everything to the ambience, the lighting, the service, the workers and the food! Once we were dropped off we went down this walkway and noticed a bar area to the right. I thought that was a separate bar area but turned out to be a section of the restaurant. I looked to my left and there was a path with people sitting down the path. Basically this place was huge and turns out there are three separate bar areas you can find seating in and there are two to three huge main dinning areas inside & out. The whole vibe is like a jungle/forest vibe and the low lighting was perfect. The ONLY thing that could have made it perfect was a better selection of music. I would have never left. We ended up finding two seats at one of the bars in the patio area and our waitress was amazing! She gave us advice on a few items and even gave us one of her favorite desserts on the house. We decided to start out with the brisket hummus (amazing!), the jumbo crab cakes ( so good), and the grilled salmon (cooked to perfection). I also got a Mediterranean Mule and had her add passion fruit. Lastly, we had a date cake that was out of this world! I couldn't even explain it but it did have some sort of crème brûlée taste to it and I LOVE crème brûlée. Our waitress made the experience that much better, conversing with us and just having a good time. I wish I remembered her name to give her a huge shout out but she does work in the bar area. As mentioned, the dessert she let us try was the frozen yogurt drizzled with honey (it was the least favorite out of everything). I thought food was just okay, good but without their vibes I probably wouldn't come back. Very excellent hummus though. The beef and lamb kefta was decent. It was nice it didn't taste gamey. The chicken kabob wasn't as juicy as I wanted. I would recommend not squeezing too much lime on the rice as that can make it taste way too sour and ruin the flavor. The Brussels sprouts were probably my fav. Drinks were good and refreshing. Good service, friendly staff as always. The atmosphere is a 5/5 here. So relaxing and beautifully decorated. We recently visited Aba on a Sunday evening for dinner, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience overall. I absolutely love the vibe of this place--it's definitely a high-end Mediterranean restaurant, perfect for special occasions. For drinks, I ordered a Tender Robot Hazy IPA, while my husband went with the Verdant Mai Tai. I was a bit disappointed to learn they only serve canned beer and don't offer draft options, as I personally prefer draft beer and am not a big fan of cocktails, which tend to be too sweet for my taste. For the main course, I had the Heirloom Chicken Thighs, and my husband ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. Both dishes were cooked to perfection--flavorful, well-seasoned, and the meat was incredibly tender. That said, the portion sizes felt a bit small considering the price point. We ended the meal with the Sticky Date Cake, and it was hands down the best I've ever had--rich, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a great experience. Started the evening with a few cocktails at the outside bar while we waited for our reservation. These cocktails are the same as the menu ones inside. Unfortunately these cocktails aren't a great flavor profile pairing. I'd almost recommended the restaurant revisit the creations to inspire new drinks. After being sat outside in the aesthetic but hot patio section we were promptly greeted, we started with a few different cocktails from the menu and confirmed my prior statement. For shareable, we started with the whipped feta and the short rib hummus. The feta was good and very rich, as was the hummus of the spread, but the meat on the hummus was tough and rigid in texture. Next we got the crispy potato's and the chicken kebab. The potatoes are a miss and would avoid. Hard, thick, and lacking any type of flavor. The chicken on the other hand was juicy and perfectly seasoned. We had ordered another round of classic non menu cocktails prior to the main dish coming out and waited probably 15-20mins for this drink, thankfully the waitress was nice enough to comp some of them. We finished the meal with another round of cocktails and the date cake which is a must! Soft and gooey with a crust of caramelized sugar on top paired which a dollop of whip cream!
