This tastes like it came straight out of someone's granny's kitchen in SPAIN. D E L I C I O U S. The menu isn't all vegan, but they've done an incredible job offering both traditional and vegan versions without losing any soul. Am I in heaven? Yes. The owner makes it a point to connect with customers, which was refreshing. You can tell this is passion-driven. You order via QR code at your table, then pick up out back when it's ready--easy. Everything is prepped daily in a Commercial kitchen and finished on the truck, and he proudly shared that the ingredients, spices, even the meats are sourced from Spain. Vegan paella? Incredible. Patatas bravas with vegan aioli? My personal favorite, sooo good. My husband loved the jamón serrano sandwich. And whatever you do, don't skip the sourdough rye with tomato spread. They also mix in a few Belgian items to match the bar, which adds to the whole European vibe. I already need to go back for the vegan fideuà and bombas..they were sold out, which tells you everything. I will start by saying my taste buds are a bit biased as I'm married to a Spaniard and frequent Spain. We ordered the bravas, seafood paella, tortilla, and jamón croquetas. The croquetas and bravas are the best in Austin - better than Kalimotxo, San Gines, and El Raval. They were extremely delicious and the perfect texture and size. The paella was about as good as you could expect from a food truck. The tortilla was our least favorite - taste was good, but wasn't as liquidy as you'd expect in Spain. Overall, the food was great. This food truck is located in the back courtyard area of the Belgian pub, Morte Subite. Outside of Spain, I haven't had truly authentic Spanish food since I lived in Pittsburgh. Yep, that's right! I digress. The food is smack you in the face delicious! Literally love everything on the menu from the omelette to beef Bombas, ham croquettes, and the charcuterie plate. Fresh, imported ingredients that bring travel memories back as though we're actually back in Spain. The chicken croquettes are to do for. So since they're located at a Belgian establishment, they also serve authentic fare from Belgium. The Flemish frites are spot on! Arrived for dinner after reading all the wonderful reviews on yelp, we were only in town for one night. We had no trouble finding a table in the rustic dark bar that it's associated with. As the bar is Belgian it has a large selection of beer. We opted for a glass of wine which was not such a good idea as I don't think they sell much wine. Anyway we were there for the food, specifically the paella, seafood of course. Well I will say it was good but not amazing. Was not real flavorful and not an over abundance of seafood either. So sorry for the disappointment. Maybe it's really good for Texas but we were not too impressed. Service was adequate. read more

The bartender was attentive and at my request gladly offered some recommendations for live music in the area. I came in for the tapas from Austhentico and they were perfect: Jamón croquetas and tortilla española like they're made in Spain. If you enjoy tapas, run..don't walk to this food truck. The food here is incredible. The truck is located behind Mort Subite (A Belgian Bar) off of Congress & 4th Street. You can walk through the bar or also park in the back alley if you'd like to get take out without having to park on the busy main street. You're able to order your food at eat it on the patio or inside the bar, which is nice on a hot day. Back to the aforementioned food, the aioli for the patatas bravas is delicious. The potatoes themselves were cut to the perfect portion and fried to the perfect level of crispiness. The jamon croquettes were creamy and exquisite. The taste of the bocadillo de jamon was delectable and the bombas were great with the sauce. I want to return and try the paella. For some reason, Spanish restaurants don't tend to stick around too long in Austin which is a shame because it's one of my favorite cuisines. I'm a big fan of Tortilla Española, and the one here is just as good as I remember from when I was in Spain! I HIGHLY recommend the Mussels and Fries. Whatever oil they used to fry them in was so tasty. Super oily but with amazing flavor. Although the place is a food truck, it's located right next to a pub where you can take your food in and eat with air conditioning. The service is super quick and friendly too. Austhentico needs more hype! My best friend studied abroad in Europe and said she was really craving patatas bravas, which is a really popular breakfast item in Spain. This food truck is pretty hidden, and it's also connected to a bar but you'd have no idea there was this delicious food truck right behind the bar. I've passed by this area hundreds of times and had no idea Austhentico was here. The patatas bravas were SO good. It was my first time trying it, but my friend said it was really authentic and brought back a lot of nostalgia. I love how it looks dense but it's actually quite light, and the sauce it comes with is delicious. We also ordered mussels and frites because the chef recommended it, and it was so good! I thought the pricing was really fair for how many mussels you get. I'm not even normally a mussel fan, but they cooked it really well and it's seasoned lightly as well. The fries were the star of the show. I have no idea what oil they use to fry the fries, but my friend and I couldn't stop raving about them. They're so nice and deserve all the business. A solid 5/5. I cannot rave about this place enough. It was quite the drive for us to eat here but it was well worth it. I did place an order in advance as I've never been here before and wasn't sure if there was a wait. The food was ready upon our arrival. We definitely over ordered because everything on their menu looked so delicious and we wanted to try it all. No regrets. After reading previous reviews about Austhentico I really wanted to love it, but my group left disappointed. We ordered to-go food from this food truck on a late Thursday night and were met with spectacular service. The man in the truck was very kind and seemed excited to serve us, but unfortunately the food was just fine. We ordered the bombas, flamenquin, patatas bravas, chicken fideua, bocadillo de Spanish chorizo, and bocadillo de Pepito de Ternera. My main dish, the chicken fideua, had flavor but was extremely dry. I left wondering if it had been left to cook for too long. The flamenquin also had good flavor but was dry on the inside. The mashed potato and ground beef bombas were tasty and were complimented nicely by the homemade garlic aioli and salsa. The patatas bravas were my favorite dish by far -- they were perfectly crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. My friends that ordered the sandwiches said they also both had good flavor. The dishes are pretty fairly priced, with a meal for one person costing approximately $14. I do not recommend visiting this truck late at night, because the road to and from can be very dark and difficult to see. Overall, we found the food good but not great. Several dishes stood out, like the patatas bravas and bombas, but were not enough to keep me running back. read more

I've never been to Europe but I've had Europe experienced folk point me in the right direction to try some authentic foods. Today in Austin we tried the Austhentico food truck behind Mort Subite and I I've now tried my first Spanish cuisine. Fantastic FRESH foods served here. Didn't get to try the whole menu but we had the first 2 popular option and they exceeded expectations. Great flavors and you don't feel like you're rolling out the joint at the end. Plus it's connected to a pub with foreign taps which is always great. 8/10 read more

A little bit of Spain right here in South Austin! Chef is from Spain (Barcelona) and cooking up nothing but authentic tapas! We tried the flamenquin, bombas, tortilla española and flamenquin . It was all delicious!!! So fresh and filling. In true tapa fashion, we ordered 4 dishes for two people to share so we could get a sampling of different dishes. As I mentioned, we had the fried potato balls filled with ground beef "bombas", deep fried rolls with pork loin, ham and cheese "flamenquin", a Spanish style omelette served with sourdough rye with tomato spread "tortilla espanola & pa amb tomaquet", little potatoes "patatas bravas", and the BEST steak, caramelized onions and cheese sandwich ever!!! It's called the Pepito de Ternera!!! Highly recommend!! There are also plenty of noodle dishes, salads and grilled sandwiches for kids! Located next to the hive in the parking lot area of gas station (the zone). The chef also offers specialized catering for private events. The staff in this food truck was amazing and courteous. But the food was the terrible. The Paella was dry with frozen shrimp, frozen mussels and other ingredients that tasted way off. The Garlic shrimp was also frozen shrimp and burnt garlic. I have been to Spain and can tell you this is no where near good Spanish food. read more

So far it's the only Spanish restaurant I've been to in the states that ACTUALLY tastes like the food I've had in Spain! I had the seafood paella, the popular croquetas de jamon serrano, and baguette with homemade aioli- each blew me away. I was impressed that the croquetas were not overly battered or fried which made the outside delicate and the inside perfectly melted and savory. The seafood paella was truly special- the rice was cooked perfectly al dente and every single grain was scraped from the dish by the end of the meal. It was the perfect amount for two people and was abundant with peas and seafood. Still astonished by the quality that came out of a food truck knowing how long it usually takes to get this kind of flavor and dish! The owners are both so nice and seemed to have a friendly familiarity with a lot of the customers, which told me that people are definitely coming back a lot :) read more

First but not last visit. I tried the New York strip sandwich. I'm a sandwich guy and this one hit all my sweet spots. The baguette was perfectly crusty with nice grill marks for smoky notes. Beef was flavorful and tender. Caramelized onions were melty-sweet perfection. Gooey sharp Manchego pulled it all together. Next we tried the bombas. The beef encased potato fritters were spot on. I'd marry a bowl of these potatoes in mashed form. But the Chef decided to stuff it with well seasoned beef and deep fry it. Thanks Chef. For dessert I had the pork tenderloin, Jamon Serrano and Gruyère roulade. Cuz'... why not?! The aioli and tomato sauce accompaniments were amazing. First time visit. My wife saw a favorable article. It's near the Watering Bowl dog park, so we placed an order and headed over. The aroma as you approach the trailer was amazing. The owner/chef was extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was ready precisely on time. It's fresh and delicious.
