Another fun place in Austin! Great Mexican food, great and fast service and the mood here was so cozy and inviting- we really enjoyed our food here. So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Could have been much better. Many of their dishes are very sweet, instead of savory. Salsa was the best thing. Music was so loud in the back room areas that you could not even have a conversation with others at your table. When I asked to have the music turned down, I was ignored. Came on NYE with a party of 4 and made a reservation through open table. Wasn't aware our table would be outside in their covered tented area but they had heaters. The gravel / flooring did make getting in and out the seats a bit awkward. We were immediately provided water, salsa and chips. We got a round a drinks and was also gifted a glass of bubbly by the restaurant to kick start the evening. We share a ceviche which was enjoyable (i wished was served with more tostadas) I ordered the alambre and my partner ordered a quesadilla. The quesadilla was very thick, but made it easy for the meat to fall out because it wasn't pressed down. The meat in my alambre was cut into smaller pieces than I anticipated and was a bit chewy. I also wish there was more than 2 corn tortillas provided given the amount the meat. Overall, it was okay food wise, I was a bit disappointed by my specific entree. Drinks and service were good. First time here and had an amazing experience. We were seated quickly at the bar so we could have couple cocktails. The bar has soft fun music playing in the background. The bar is fancy and the bartenders know how to create anything. Loved our drinks. When you sit the chips and salsa are a great free touch!!! Pro-tip: HH from 4-6PM! While we didn't make it to HH, we still indulged in the spicy margarita. It was a solid choice, but not the greatest in town. Starting from the chips- stale, and I took a bite of a salt ball. The salsas were pretty good. We got a skinny margarita and a Paloma with mezcal. The citrus just tasted old and bitter which ruined any good flavor from the tequila & mezcal. The skinny margarita just made my stomach curl. The taquitos were decent. We ordered the Paloma and the Lupita - both delicious but ultimately the Lupita was the favorite - the watermelon tequila is amazing!! We also ordered the cochinita pibil sopecitos, the pastor quesadilla, and the chicken mole huaraches. Our favorites were the quesadilla and the chicken mole huarache - incredible both of them!! We absolutely loved them and had a great time for happy hour. Service was great and food came out quickly, we ate and drank and left in less than an hour! Wow this place has gone downhill. The drinks were extremely weak, and the service was awful. Ordered Chicken Mole as my main and it was 40 percent rice, 40 percent soggy cold vegetables and then a tiny piece of room temperature chicken. They also tried not to present an itemized bill which had an error on it. The salsas were both good with good flavor, just not that spicy which is ok too. I had the green mole enchiladas, it was just ok. I ended up pouring the salsa on it for flavor. The carnitas inside were also a little salty but blended with the white rice which I would have preferred Mexican rice but I understand that it might be too much flavor for some. Great experience at Lichas! Almost miss it when you're walking by but they had good happy hour deals so we went for that Friday night. The staff was great and the drinks were tasty. I tried the spicy margarita, another special drink, my husband tried the Paloma and mula and we enjoyed them all. You also get complimentary chips and salsa, even at the bar. For HH snacks we got the sopecitos. The conchita pibil was tasty but the chicken was underwhelming. The bartenders were also great. Some of the best bites I have had my entire trip to Austin! The music makes you want to dance and the space is a remodeled home turned restaurant which gives it a comfy, homey vibe. The lengua tacos were so amazing, the lengua was flavorful yet crispy on the outside, cut into cubes forming the ideal texture. The tortillas were warm and hearty, great flavor you could tell it's homemade. Loved the salsa flavors, as soon as you sit down you get salsa and chips. The drinks were strong and full of flavor I got the lupita and the watermelon really stood out and made it a fun twist on a marg. I also really liked the esquite corn it was on the soupy side but the cheesiness and flavor of the corn were well balanced. The place was packed but we never had a wait. We made a reservation here before coming to Austin and this was our first night being in Austin. We were looking for some great Mexican food to start our trip! We sat on the patio and it was the perfect weather. As soon as we sat we got brought chips and two types of salsas that were both delicious and different from each other. Our server was helpful with questions and so fast. Esquite - so flavorful!! A perfect side to start. One of the best I've had! Lengua - I don't know if I had had Lengua plain on a taco I think I've had it mixed with something? BUT this was soooo flavorful and had the best balance of flavors. Why has it taken me so long to visit?! The food here was absolutely delicious. Seriously, best meal I've had in a while. My friend ordered the brisket tacos and I ordered the redfish/bacon/shrimp tacos. The taco filling arrived in a mini cast-iron topped with melted cheese. It was quite a large serving, so I opted to forget the tortillas and just eat the fish and shrimp. No regrets. We walked up about 8:30 on a Friday night without a reservation and got a table for two inside. It's a pretty open, converted house so it's pretty warm inside during the summer, but they had fans going to help and many opted to sit out on their patios. Service was helpful and quick. read more

It was an August evening so it was a bit hot outside but the patio is very shaded and there were plenty of fans so it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Salsas were delicious as well as the drinks. I had the Paloma which was refreshing. The brisket tacos were 10/10- very large portion so I could have gotten away with sharing them (but I enjoyed the leftovers the next day). I've tried a handful of plates here, I love their sopecitos, my favorites are the cochinita pibil and tinga de pollo. Their huaraches are also delicious, I usually go for the mole con pollo. Got there on a cold evening for a reservation and they sat us on back patio that was literally freezing. It's covered in tarps and plywood. House music is blasting from next door, competing with their own music so you can barely hear anything. There were multiple tables open under heaters and they refused to move us. When we left the restaurant was about 50% full so I'm not sure why it would've been such a hassle to move us. We were given blankets instead and they moved over a standing heater, removed the propane and never refilled it ... for $150 meal for 2 people id expect to not be so uncomfortable. The drinks were pretty watered down but the food... the food. Goat Birria was awesome and Sopecitos delicious. I'd do takeout from here again but not go back for the service read more

Location is great. Margaritas are great. I also loved the guacamole. The corn appetizer was watery like corn out of a can. My salad was rough. I think it was supposed to be pineapple and pepitas, but it was just greens and pineapple. The shrimp I paid to be added in tasted like boiled shrimp thrown on a pan before serving. There was no flavor at all. My advice is get some margs and guac, enjoy the surroundings, and be done here. read more
