Love these sliders! Right outside the violet crown on E 6th, you can get small, fantastic burgers and fries. I got the combo with the Gringo and Vato. Vato was my absolute favorite. You order at the food truck and they will call your name. There is seating in front, or the back courtyard area. The burger has pepper jack cheese and jalapeños and the latkes are always so damn good. Cannot recommend this place more for a good burger and latkes. JewBoy Sliders doesn't disappoint! I've had JewBoy Burgers and JewBoy Subs so I kinda expected for the sliders to be fantastic, but I was still impressed by the flavor and quality. (NOTE: I visited the South Lamar truck at the Gibson Street Bar but there doesn't seem to be a Yelp listing for that location yet so I'm leaving it here) FAST FACTS: * Parking - not a ton of options but there is a small lot around Merit Coffee as well as some street parking nearby * Online ordering - available on their website for scheduled pickup or delivery SERVICE - The worker at the counter was nice and took our order efficiently. We were told 10-15 minutes as a wait time (they will call out your name if you're waiting around the truck or you can give your number and they'll text you when your order is ready) but it was ready just before the 10 minute mark. Everything was fresh and hot! PRICING - The total was $37.89 after tax ($2.89) but before tip for two "Weekend Getaways" ($13.50 each) and a large chips and queso ($8). I think the pricing was reasonable for the quality of food. The sliders are definitely small, but the side you get with the combo is a great size! THE GRINGO (9/10) - This is your "classic" smash burger but a phenomenal version of one! The bun is basic but holds up as you eat it (I hate a super flat and smashed bun) and the patty is super flavorful with the classic crispy edges. The American cheese is melty, the pickles are BOMB, and the special sauce ties it all together. I will say it was smaller than expected, even though I knew it was a slider (all the pictures make them seem bigger than they really are). But, this was my favorite of the two slider options and I'd order this again! THE VATO (7/10) - This is a great option if you want a touch of heat, but I feel like I expected it to be a little more flavorful. Again, the bun and patty were great but I felt like the hatch green Chile ranch spread and pepper jack cheese didn't bring as much as I hoped they would. Honestly, my favorite part was the grilled jalapeños because they brought the most flavor. I enjoyed trying it but I'd rather have two of "The Gringo" sliders next time. FRENCH FRIES (10/10) - Say hello to the star of the show... wow! I know it sounds dramatic but these were some of the best fries I've had. They were super crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, not greasy or oily, and were seasoned perfectly. I'd order these again (and will probably opt to not share them because I want them all for myself)! CHIPS AND QUESO (7/10) - I love that chips and queso are offered as a side option because sometimes you just need a big bowl of cheese to cope with your problems. You can tell the queso is high quality because it does start to congeal as it cools (aka it's real cheese which is a good thing). Overall, the flavor is good but it wasn't mind-blowing. You get tortilla chips that are sealed in a plastic bag, so they weren't the freshest but the amount of chips you get was perfect for the amount of queso (especially if you also dip some fries or your sliders in it). I'd probably get just a side of queso next time for dipping and skip the chips. JewBoy Sliders should be your go-to spot for delicious sliders and fries! The sliders were delicious we especially loved The Vato- ANGUS, PEPPER JACK CHEESE, HATCH CHILE RANCH SPREAD & GRILLED JALAPEÑOS ON A TOASTED POTATO ROLL. Man, this one is hard to write. I LOVE Jewboy Burgers. I used to go to it all the time when it was still at the OG food truck, and I've been a fan of the expansion that Mo and his team have done. But unfortunately these sliders left me pretty disappointed. My friend and I got the Vato (2 regular, and 2 vegetarian with latkes instead of patties). The 2 regular sliders were dry and didn't have much flavor. I was surprised because the typical burgers are so moist and flavorful. These sliders were just so blah, I didn't even want to keep eating it honestly because I was so disappointed. The ones with latkes were okay, but still disappointing. We also got the chips and queso which was also blah. Nothing really to be excited about. Maybe I just had an unlucky experience, or maybe sliders aren't the move. Yes yes yes a thousand times yes. Jewboys sandwiches is a pretty regular spot for me but wanted to try this truck. The burgers are sooo good. We ordered everything on the menu. The latkes were the best side. I don't like that it's right outside of a bar so there were definitely people eating to sober up who were rowdy and vulgar and we had our kids with us so that was a down side. Not enough to change my review though. The security guard there was awesome and asked them to chill. Back to the burgers though, they were hot and fresh and delicious. These sliders are my go-to when I'm craving a satisfying burger. Number one thing that makes a burger (or slider) great is melted cheese and these sliders definitely meet that criteria! The smoky mayo adds an interesting dimension that stands out among all the other burgers in town with a typical special sauce. Now the sides here also play a huge role in why Jewboys always satisfy my cravings. The queso is thick and creamy with enough seasonings/peppers to add a nice depth. I just wish the chips were fresh but they're still a good vessel to hold the queso. The fries are why I keep coming back. They have a great slim cut and solid crunch. These fries are consistent, every time I visited they have the same firm texture. The walk up window service is always great and we never have to wait too long even though they have plenty of orders coming in all the time. Honestly I think fareground gets a bad rap for no reason. People complain Austin doesn't have a good food hall, yet I've never had a bad meal in there. I think all the vendors try very hard to put out solid dishes, consistently. And JBS doesn't disappoint!!! They took over the TLV stand right out front by the bar - you'll miss it if you walk straight back to the court. Hands down these are some of the best burgers in general, not even just sliders, that I've had in town. Crispy but juicy patty, perfect amount of salt, soft potato bun, and excellent fries/latkes to boot. I went with all my coworkers and we put in a massive order all at once. The kitchen crushed it, got all our trays out at the same time, and loved every single slider. I recommend the two slider combo - you get sliders plus side + drink for $15! I've been wanting to try Jewboy for a while and I remembered that a slider food truck was in front of Violet Crown Social Club. So here we go, I'm trying out the burgers! There's only two sliders on the menu so I got them both. $10 for two sliders. I'm not hot about the pricing, but the burgers turned out to be pretty much on-part with what I was expecting. Both burgers seem to be served on potato buns. Gringo - 1/8th lb. of angus meat, cheese, pickles, and smoky aioli. Now, my favorite burgers are usually ones with lots of delicious toppings but this one was simple and surprisingly really good. The meat really stood out in this slider and I LOVED that aspect. If you like the taste of angus burgers, then gringo is the way to go. Vato - 1/8th lb. of angus meat, pepperjack cheese, grilled jalapenos, and hatch green chili ranch. The jalapenos did not taste pickled for those that prefer grilled fresh jalapenos. That said, the jalapeno and hatch chiles provided a nice little tickling of heat, but they overtook the angus meat flavor that I enjoyed from the gringo. Parking is, of course, not the most fun in general but you can just go to Whole Foods / Target and make a small purchase in order to explore the Saltillo area. Overall, pretty nice sliders with my main caveat being that I wish there was more to the menu here. read more
