Believe the crowd: Granny's deserves the huge following it's obtained. My breakfast tacos were compelling and unforgettable, even when not everything was my favorite. For me, the Chilaquil is the clear winner. Crunchy and soft, spicy and cool, just a masterpiece of balance. It seemed like special occasion food. The Machaca was a savory taco. Seasoned well, it also stands up very well to the hot red sauce. Migas was hard for me to recommend because I like much more salt in my scrambled eggs than Austin's norm. The tacos were overstuffed. It was difficult to keep the ingredients inside while holding them to eat. And the wait on a Saturday at 9:30a is at least 15 minutes once your order is in. People tended to order a lot at once! Completely worth the brief excursion away from downtown. read more

We went to Granny's on a Thursday late morning. There is paid parking on site. No line, so we were able to go straight to ordering. Order and food pickup at the truck. Throw out your disposable bowls and plasticware at the end. There is plenty of outdoor seating right next to the taco truck as well as the patio nearby. You can also go inside where there is a full bar. The tacos are massive so 1 to 1.5 tacos (splitting 3 with someone) was the right amount for me. I really liked the regular taco (Campechano). The breakfast tacos were pretty good and I would give the nod to Ranchero over Machaca. The crispy chicharrón was a nice addition for the Ranchero. I'd also recommend the option of upgrading to fresh corn tortillas. Solid spot for a quick bite. read more

Delicious taco truck with ambiance proving lots of outdoor picnic table seating with umbrellas and just overall a nice meal that you can get late. My only complaint was how long it took to get 3 tacos and some chips & guac (over 30+ minutes). They write every ticket by hand & they get overwhelmed with DoorDash and grubhub orders as well as those like myself ordering at the counter. A small investment in their ticketing system and possibly some help on weekends would greatly improve their ease and speed of service. I really enjoyed my meal, but would not come back here unless I had plenty of time to spare. read more

One of the best al pastor tacos I've ever had!!! WOW! We ordered at the food truck outside and then went inside the bar to eat and watch the UT/OSU game. The shrimp taco was great too, but I loved my al pastor so much that I'd wished I'd gotten two of those. read more

Who wants to taste some of Granny's Tacos?! Ok, so there's gotta be a better way to start this review. Let's just say Granny's Tacos is an E. 7th food truck that has some amazing breakfast tacos and ample seating. Parking can be hit/miss in the area but don't let that stop you from visiting Granny's for some killer breakfast tacos. Walk up and order at the window, get your number, and find a seat while your tacos are made hot and fresh. Tacos are sizable here and three left me stuffed and waddling back to my car on a beautiful Sunday morning. I judge a places breakfast tacos off of a couple of standards items/orders: Potato/Egg/Cheese and either Migas or Chiliquilas Tacos. Happy to report both their Potato Egg and Cheese as well as the Migas tacos were both delish. Fresh flour tortillas filled to near overstuffed status of wonderful breakfast taco filling(s). I also went with their nopalitos egg and cheese tacos and was equally as happy with that offering. Also, shout-out to that spicy green salsa. It was the perfect accompaniment to the tacos. The staff taking orders and pumping out tacos were friendly and pleasant. Willing to offer any suggestions or address any questions you may have, as well as being fast and efficient. And when it comes to either breakfast tacos or food trucks, what more could you ask for? And I am happy to report Granny's Tacos delivers on both. read more

I decided to check this spot out because of the great reviews and it was super close to where I was at. The truck is set up in a nice area with seats and tables in shade and street parking was easy enough to find on a Sunday morning. The service was friendly and quick as well. The food unfortunately was not great and my other two friends agreed. Al pastor tacos 1/5- The tortillas were good and I believe they make them fresh however the pork it's self was dry, the flavor was bland, and there was no pineapple on the taco when it states on the description it comes with pineapple. Some of the worst I've had. Breakfast tacos 3/5- As you can see by the photo, I got an egg, beans, and bacon taco and an eggs, chorizo, and beans taco and both were fine. The eggs were cooked perfectly and again the tortilla was good. The chorizo and eggs had a nice flavor and I'd get it again if I had to come back. Unfortunately they didn't mix in the bacon into the eggs which feels very lazy and is awkward to eat. The beans were super bland so they ruined both tacos rather than adding to it. Also, they only added it on half of the taco and eggs on the other half as you can see on my photo which felt weird to eat cause I had bites of just straight beans and no egg. The red sauce was not super spicy and the green wasn't either but the red is spicier than the green. This place isn't horrible but I won't be back. I expected a lot more considering the crazy reviews. read more

Yeah, so these tacos are absolutely worth the hype. I ordered 3 bacon, egg, and bean as well as 3 steak, pico, and lime. Wow, just wow. They do not skimp on any protein whatsoever! The salsa verde and salsa rojo are both delicious and I am absolutely craving the verde as I type this. It's dangerous that Granny's is also on DoorDash. I live way too close to this truck (but what a beautiful thing to complain about)! read more

Food truck shorted me a premium taco! And all tacos had eggs on the left and meat on right. Disappointed by whoever is working today with meta glasses on. Terrible tacos after a 20 min wait. I've been wanting to go to Granny's Tacos for the longest time, and I'm glad I was finally in the area to try it! I got a shrimp taco and their taco plate/bowl, and both were really delicious. How can you miss breakfast tacos when you're in Austin? Showed up to Granny's yesterday & it didn't disappoint us. They make tacos from a food truck outside and they'll bring it inside. You have to order, pay first & find a table for yourself. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get your food. We ordered - Birria taco - Chilaquiles taco - Migas taco - Alambre taco - Chips w guacamole Chilaquiles taco I had was okay but Birria was out of this world. This has to be the best Birria taco I've ever had. Salsa/sauces are equally important for a taco as it elevates the taco it to stratosphere. Both Red/Green sauces were so good. Ambiance: They had a couple of TV & tables inside/outside the restaurant were okay. They also had a mini cafe on the other side of the restaurant. Parking can get a little tricky during peak hours. read more

I came in with a group of visiting friends and was pleasantly surprised to find good, reasonably priced tacos here in East Austin. The tacos were about $5-6 and came with lots of meat. The space was a bit confusing because it seemed like there was an outdoor patio in the back and a covered patio on the side and a food truck in the back, but we chose to sit in the side patio which was nice. This was perfect for brunch after a night out. read more

My breakfast tacos were delicious! The cheese can be melted more but no biggie. The ordering process was kind of confusing, though. Everyone went to the food truck to order, but then we were all told to go to the bar instead. Also, it'd be way easier if there were a buzzer to let you know when your food's ready, instead of giving your name to the truck and having to keep checking. Maybe this is a new system, but it felt a bit clunky. read more

Delicious! They were out of steak early on a Sunday morning so that was the main downfall but the bacon egg and cheese tacos were delicious!

I like granny's tacos a lot! Flavor is great and I think value for the price it's pretty good. The breakfast tacos are a little salty but I don't mind. I really wish they made their own tortillas...if the taco company in Stripes gas stations can make their own so can they lol. It would definitely make it a five star for me, but I still really enjoyed it. read more

After I leave the gym, I go here as it's across the street. Therefore, I've only eaten the breakfast tacos and it's good. My "gripes" which are quibbles is the tortillas don't hold up to eat like a taco. The plus side is you're not being shorted on food. When I order the bacon, i would like more than one piece of bacon and will ask next time now that i am dialed in on this and last thing is to offer both red and green sauce instead of only one and if you want another you're charged. read more

Great food truck. Quick and efficient. A little greasy, but flavorful and tastes homemade. We had 3 tacos including granny's and al pastor. Tacos were large in size, and priced that way. Appreciate that they were open while other food trucks in the area were closed. Would recommend a stop and would return! English and Spanish speaking. read more

I've recently been on the hunt for the best burritos in Austin, so anytime a spot has a burrito, I'm trying it out. Loaded Nachos (5/5) - Loaded nachos were LOADED. No skimping on chips, cheese, carnitas. Very happy with the portion size, great flavoring and tenderness of the carnitas, and the pickled jalapenos were a nice touch. Burrito (4/5) - The burrito was solid, but this may be my preference, but I like burritos with a little bit of freshness. I like when there's some fresh onion, lettuce, sour cream, but this was a pretty beefy bean-y burrito. Still good overall, but I would've like more acidity and texture. read more

I am a Granny's OG - have been coming here for several years starting out when she and her husband were running the show. She made the best salsa and her tacos were always high-quality and large Marge. She always treated me like a grandson when I showed up. Now her family runs the show and I was eager to see how things would be and sure enough. I was very pleased to see their quality has maintained, and the tacos are still pretty well sized. they recently expanded to the building next to their trailer, which is a really really nice spread. There are tables to sit but inside is AC cooled and nice seating and a bar area as well. Almost like a mini coffee shop, but there's a lot of room here and I was really impressed. I love the Chilaquiles with the red Mole and I had an egg. We also got another taco with beef and egg. And I love their broccoli cheese egg taco. My friend visiting Town just loved their quality and this was one of his favorite breakfast taco experiences. I will make sure to continue to go back here more consistently as I was very pleased to see that what made them great is still present - really good quality, tacos and ingredients and portions. Love their green and Molcajete sauce. Definitely a must for out-of-town visitors as well read more

Fish tacos are top notch. If they're not in the menu just ask for them and the Spanish word is pescado. Nice people and they'll charge you a little more for the fish tacos but they are 100% worth it. Great food late night. Grab some beers from the bar attached and enjoy the hell out of it. If it's a nice night, sit outside if not shelter in the air conditioning and they'll bring it to you from the bar. Bartenders are always nice and accommodating. Enjoyed a cold beverage for the first time in their restaurant. They have been providing East Austin with delicious tacos out of their truck. It's so inspiring to see how far they've come! They still have the food truck in the back patio. The indoor area is perfect. There is a full bar (great bartenders) and seating, plus plenty of tables. Tacos for the Non Discerning! Reviews did not match the food experience. We ordered a variety of tacos, so we gave Granny's a good go. Let me put it this way: the kind of breakfast your kids make on Father's Day and Dad eats it because he had to. read more

I'm seriously shocked by the hype surrounding Granny's Tacos. Maybe I went on an off day, but after hearing all the rave reviews, I honestly expected a lot more. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the buzz at all. I ordered the Egg, Bean, Bacon, Potato, and Cheese Breakfast Taco--pretty straightforward, right? But sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to get right. And this one missed the mark. The Beans: These beans tasted like they came straight out of a can of "spicy" Bush's beans. They were bad - not the real, homemade frijoles I was hoping for. I'm talking about that lard-infused, slow-cooked flavor you get from legit frijoles, not this weird, canned, weirdly-spicy mess. Not the fresh, comforting taste I was craving. The Eggs: Yikes. The eggs were burnt. Not a little bit crispy--I'm talking full-on brown, like they had been sitting on the grill for too long. The texture was dry, overcooked, and just... unappealing. Yellow and brown rubber. The Bacon: I don't even know - I couldn't even focus on it over the gross bean flavor and the burnt eggs. The Tortilla: This definitely tasted like a store-bought tortilla situation. I took one bite, and I couldn't even finish it. Between the canned beans, burnt eggs, and sad tortilla, it wasn't worth the calories. I ended up tossing the whole thing in the trash. I really wanted to love it, but this was just not a good experience. Maybe Granny's is usually better, and I just caught them on an off day. But based on this taco, I won't be back. Austin has no shortage of taco spots that get the basics right--fresh ingredients, good flavors, and a taco that makes you want to eat the whole thing. This just didn't deliver. If you want a taco that tastes like it was made with care, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

I just moved here and it took me a month to visit this spot. I knew they had great tacos. But I thought they were just a food truck. During the summer I kinda require A/C to really enjoy a meal LOL Then, I was pleasantly surprised: They have a very well air-conditioned bar, lounge area and plenty of tables. Not only that, they have some of the coolest staff I've met in Austin. Liz and Chris are friendly, fun and made this 'new guy' feel right at home. Plus, they may have the best Happy Hour in ATX. $4 Shots, Tacos, & Drafts. Please ASK about the specials before you order. Nobody is offering top-shelf shots and tacos for $4. That would be crazy. I asked first, and they happily explained what was offered for $4 and I enjoyed all of it. Now, I've been several times, brought friends and they never disappoint. It's one of my favorite spots. read more

Granny's Tacos - ASK. Then order =) - Food Trucks Near Me - Austin, Texas

These tacos were so good! Note- there are a few parking spots right in front of the restaurant, but they cost $15. If you park on the street literally anywhere else it's only 2-$3/hour. We parked a few blocks away and walked over for a weekday lunch. We browsed the food truck menu and each ordered a few tacos. I got the shrimp taco and veggie taco with beans. My fiance got the birria, steak, and pork tacos. They are HUGE and 2 was enough. I also got chips and salsa, and the medium salsa was way too hot for me. The salsa verde was so flavorful and I poured it on my tacos. The shrimp was definitely my favorite. The spicy chipotle sauce with the avocado was *chef's kiss*. We each got a margarita from inside their cafe and really liked it. They have an indoor area that is air conditioned and has a bathroom. Prices were good and food was delicious. Have some tacos, mijo. You look tan flaco. Granny's got some game! She sure knows how to set up a taco joint with beers. This place is legit. The taco truck outside dishes out the tacos. They've got a mild red, a medium red, and hotter tostada sauce. Go for the hottest, trust me. They sell beer inside. Feel free to take it outside if you're not into the games on the televisions or the live band that's rocking out in the long, and narrow beer hall. This building seems to be put up here recently, a mobile home or something with a food truck attached. The portions are large, and the food comes out quickly. The service for both the food and the beers was speedy and the prices were inexpensive. Parking is a challenge on E 6th. The place is clean, and well lit and seems safe. read more
