We ordered the steak, egg & cheese, bacon, egg & cheese, and the potato breakfast burrito, and every single one was delicious. The steak, egg & cheese was definitely my favorite. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and was the perfect way to start the day. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the bathroom was well maintained. Just a heads up that you'll need to ask an employee for the restroom key code. If you're staying in downtown Austin, this is an easy spot to get to and absolutely worth the visit for a great breakfast taco. Tacodeli was a great breakfast option before exploring downtown Austin. The woman that greeted us at the counter was a delight and super helpful as we had never been before. She helped us pick out the best tacos a side of rice and beans as well as chips and queso. I also ordered the cha cha coffee (drip coffee with housemaid horchata). The salsa bar was delicious with salsa verde, salsa Rojo, jalapeno crema and a habenero sauce. The queso was delicious and you can go back to the counter for more chips if needed. DO NOT EAT HERE!! I have a Mexican family member and know what real tacos are supposed to taste like - this isn't it. The meat tasted like it was marinated in bbq sauce and the tortillas are given to you cold. It was disgusting. The chips aren't even fried fresh in oil. They come out of a bag. The salsa was flavorless. I asked for my money back. Then I went to the HEB and bought everything needed for real tacos. I went home and made my own authentic Mexican food. The menu was so easy to understand and I loved how quick and efficient the staff was. I got 3 breakfast tacos- bacon, sirloin, and sausage. The sirloin was my favorite, with sausage being a very close second. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the bacon, but no one would really season bacon to make it better than it is naturally... anyways... The sirloin was flavored so incredibly perfectly and it was super juicy and lean. I don't love biting into steak that has a fat chunk in it, and every bite of sirloin was just perfect. The sausage was also seasoned really yummy, and great texture. I got the pink drink and it was super yummy. All of their drink flavors are Main Root and they were so good. I mixed the pink drink with the lemon lime and sparkled it. It was lovely. I think it is a really nice touch when a food joint puts thoughtfulness into every aspect of the experience, including the drink options. The various salsa flavors that you can add on were so nice. I'm a wimp so I rocked the mild sauce, and it was very good. Finally, we also got a round of chips and queso and it was soooo good. The cheese was smooth and vivid, with the perfect viscosity. I wish we had a Tacodeli in Utah. This place is yet another reason to come back to Austin and visit. read more

Fortunately for me, today's special were the brisket tacos. I got the blue plate special which was two tacos of any kind with beans and rice. I got a barria taco and a brisket El Rey. The brisket taco was loaded with juicy shredded brisket and crunchy bacon. Delicious! The birria taco was just as good and came with extra dipping sauce. Overall a great place for some great tacos. It's a local chain but it hits the spot. A great variety of breakfast tacos, lunch tacos and pretty much tacos for anytime of the day. I stopped in during the SXSW Conference & Festival. It stays busy but the ingredients are fresh, tasty and the crew is nice. The restaurant is spacious with ample seating, you can get your food to stay or go. No dish-ware or reusable glasses but the order is served in a plastic basket versus a to-go bag. The coffee was hot and they have a sauce bar with verde (mild), medium and hot toppings. I've seen Tacodeli around town a few times since they seem to supply a lot of local coffee shops with their breakfast tacos and they seem to sell out pretty quickly. It made me wonder if in a town full of tacos and breakfast tacos especially if it was really good or if they managed to just corner the market somehow. Fortunately, my team decided to go out for lunch and Tacodeli was mentioned as an option. I hadn't eaten breakfast but had them elsewhere and it was a team lunch anyway so I ended up getting the lunch and dinner tacos. I was hungry and decided to try one of each protein; I decided to try every one of their protein options...I was also pretty hungry after skipping breakfast. On top of that their soda fountain was Maine sodas, the cane sugar soda company. Their tacos aren't the most authentic but tasty. I'm a fan of Ko-Mex fusion and their tacos kind of reminded me of a Modern American-Mexican fusion. The Picosito was my favorite, the cubed tenderloin had a nice texture and it paired well with the Shrimposito, basically it was surf and turf.
