My cousin recommended we try this while in Austin as she described it as an Austin staple and OMG this was the best tacos I have ever had. The chicken tacos had such a delicious seasoning, one would describe similar to a chicken tikka, smothered in this yummy sauce with veggies. Then the egg taco tasted like I was eating a veggie omelette in a taco, and last the chilaquiles taco was super yummy and unique and a great veg option. They definitely have something for everyone! Will be back!! read more

We needed a casual lunch after a staycation downtown. Found street parking for $2/hr across the street (the spots at the restaurant were $12 for two hours!) I ordered the shrimp taco and the chilaquiles with mole. Both were delicious. My wife got the chicken mole and she liked it as well. The guy taking the order was happy to share suggestions. They've got outdoor, patio, and indoor seating (with AC.) Two tacos was just right for me. read more

Our experience here was phenomenal! The bartender, Alec, gave great service and he made us very yummy Mexican martinis. The birria tacos were juicy and came with flavorful salsas. Love the vibe here, will definitely be back. read more

Granny's Tacos - Food Trucks Near Me - Austin, Texas

Granny's Tacos is an authentic Mexican taco truck in East Austin. I came for breakfast after seeing multiple strong reviews and did not leave disappointed. There is no parking in the lot but you should be able to find street parking on the same block with relative ease in the daytime. There's a few tables with umbrellas for shade but not much to say otherwise about the ambiance - it's a small food truck. I ordered three of the breakfast tacos including the migas (my favorite) and would say it's a top 5 in Austin (very good). Tortillas tasted fresh and the salsas were also very tasty (get the spicy salsa!) Would come back if I'm in the area, albeit there's a lot of very strong taco places nearby so it really just depends on convenience here! read more

I've been to this location before (the other permanently closed) and thought they were one of the best taco places! But now, I think it depends on the tacos you get. They're known for their breakfast tacos and I believe Migas is really good. The tacos sizes are pretty big and filling, which is great! You will definitely be full and don't have to worry about going to another taco place. Too much meat this time. It may seem more balanced if there were more veggies or crunchy onions. They have parking spaces! read more

Probably one of the best taco food trucks in Austin. They have a variety of choices and the portion is relatively big. The beef inside the street taco was very tender and tasted delicious with their verde sauce. I love the birria taco because it has a lot of fresh ingredients such as tomato, onion, avocado, etc. The tacos came out pretty quickly and it wasn't very expensive, worth a try if you are in the area! read more

The BEST breakfast tacos in Austin! Granny's is a must-visit! Ambiance & Service: No wait on a Friday afternoon. Outdoor seating with plenty of tables, and the food came out hot and fast! Food: Chilaquil Taco (Mole): Easily one of the best tacos I've had. The mole is rich and spicy, with fresh toppings of onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and cotija cheese. The crispy tortilla chips add the perfect crunch to the taco. TL;DR: Quick service, great outdoor seating, and the Chilaquil Taco with Mole is a standout! read more

My goodness I did not expect this place to be so good!! A friend and I met up at the Revival Coffee next door and then we switched over here to get a quick bite because he said it was good. He didn't tell me it was this good!! I got the La Gringa quesadilla and there was so much to love. Only $11.50 for a meal that honestly could feed 2. The steak and chorizo inside are incredibly well seasoned and crispy while the bell pepper, onion and mushrooms are fresh and cooked just enough to still be crunchy. The flavors all melded so well together and the cheese crust on the outside was beautiful and helped keep the shape of it all. I also ate some with the green salsa and holy cow that elevated it EVEN MORE!! Wait was about 10-15 minutes after ordering and was surprisingly busy with a constant line. I will definitely be back and strongly suggest that you check it out!!! read more

Thursday 7/25/2024 Another spot that I missed on my first Austin visit in 2023 but now I'm back and I finally made my visit. This spot drew my interest due to its ratings/reviews and due to the fact that tacos & texmex are one of the many staples in Texas food culture. I got a breakfast (jack cheese, egg, bacon) taco $3.50, birria taco with consome $5.25, and a shrimp taco $5.75. All of the tacos were served in flour tortillas expect for the birria taco. - The breakfast (jack cheese, egg, bacon) taco was great. There's just something special that happens when eggs, cheese, and meat are paired together on a flour tortilla. I'd give it a solid 8.2/10. - The Birria taco was decent on its own but was much better with the addition of the consome and with the consome it's a 7.7/10. - The shrimp taco was alright but it was my least favorite of the 3. The taco comes with 3 pieces of shrimp and has a sauce that comes with spicy kick that you will definitely taste. I'd rate it a 6.9/10. - The sauces were alright: green was spicy, one wasn't spicy, and the last one was spicy but also flavorful. Overall, I enjoyed my visit at granny's tacos and I'd say they have some of the best breakfast tacos I've had. If you want some tacos (especially breakfast tacos) then this is the spot for it. read more

Back to Granny's to try more tacos on a Saturday for lunch!!! Surprisingly, the line was not extremely long around lunch time, so I very quickly ordered and received my food. I got 2 items from the top things listed on Yelp, and YALL....the Ranchero taco was like a Migas mixed with chicharon plus avocado - SO GOOD!! I was so full from it I had to save the other tacos for a snack later because this taco was huge! Love love Granny's and next time I have to try the shrimp because BOTH people in front of my ordered it! So glad for this Austin staple read more

We ordered from DoorDash. Good gracious, the food is exceptional. They opened up a brick-and-mortar bar next to the food truck recently. The tacos are somewhat pricey for street tacos ($6-7ish, but maybe that is inflated by DoorDash) - however, they are large, filling, and pack a robust flavor punch. I tried the shrimp taco and a bite of the migas taco - outstanding. The chicken quesadilla is also well-seasoned and delicious. The staff was incredibly kind (the gentleman in the truck asked me to wait for my order inside their bar, as it was quite cold outside), and the food was ready quite quickly :) read more

We came here because the night before a lovely and helpful drunk gal at the bar recommended it as the best taco truck in Austin. It was definitely top notch! ! Parking: They don't have a designated lot but there is a lot of street parking nearby. The street parking is pay to park Seating: They have about 6 large picnic tables with umbrellas. So there's plenty of seating and shade! It's also dog friendly which is a huge bonus. Menu: Their menu is amazing for a food truck. We opted for DIY breakfast tacos but they also had midas, special tacos, etc. The prices were very reasonable too. Unfortunately they had no coffee ! This knocked a star off for us. But there is a coffee shop next door in the pink building. The tacos were absolutely delicious and they don't skimp on the servings ! They STUFF those tacos ! I ordered 3 expecting them to be a bit small like other breakfast taco places and was pleasantly surprised that wasn't the case! I almost couldn't hold then closed and was full after 2. Bonus if you get avocado they reallllyy put avocado in there ! They also have 3 spice levels of salsa I think it's good to note that they get extremely busy! We went at about 11/noon on Saturday which seemed to be after the morning rush as there wasn't really a line. However right after us a line formed and there were tons of people. We did have to wait a bit but it was long enough for us to go get coffees next door read more

I have never had a better Al Pastor Taco in my life. I need 85 characters to post so I'm just filling up space at this point.

Cute spot. Taco truck is in the back and the bar is located inside. Plenty of seating, not so much parking also noticed signs of $5 parking fee (or free when you spend $25+) although I am not sure if we were charged since we were not handed a receipt. We ordered a soda, coffee, campechana, pastor, machaca and chilaquiles taco total was about $37. Immediately noticed the big portions. As we went to take a bite the homemade corn tortilla fell apart. I went back up to ask for more tortillas to try to remake it and the guy was kind enough to gives us 2 more. Flavor was good but disliked that our tacos fell apart. Maybe the flour tortillas hold up much better. read more

Came here with a friend for lunch and really enjoyed this spot! The have some parking out in front of the bar/cafe/restaurant and the food truck outside with some park bench tables. We learned that you can actually go inside and order and they will bring your food to you if you do that, but we just ordered and sat outside. The food was great, I got the Al pastor burrito bowl and they did not skimp on the meat. Super flavorful and tender. The staff inside was so nice!! I would definitely come here again. read more

No one makes a taco like granny! Went with the street tacos both chicken and steak. Now when i read street tacos was expecting a pinch of this and a pinch of that. But those were a very generous portion! Quick turnaround on a busy day. Great presentation. Yall need to understand how important it is to work in a food truck, in Texas, in the summer, and still have a cheerful demeanor when taking and handing orders out to the masses. Was visiting Austin for the weekend and stopped at Granny's on the way out for breakfast tacos. I had the veggie taco. It was pretty decent but when the description said it had spinach on it, I thought it would have been cooked. Since it was raw, I went ahead and took it off. The green sauce was good and spicy. I would visit this food truck again the next time I'm in Austin but will probably try something else. read more

Landed in Austin and looked up tacos near where we were staying - an hour early for checking we planned to bring suitcases inside with us - well it's a food truck but that's ok hahaha we just looked eager to eat TexMex - the salads and tacos were very good, better than we expected for a quick low key place - that tacos was memorable, juicy pork and the salads were fresh, good quality veggies not wilted - honestly one of my favorite memories of Austin, plunking diwn at a table with our suitcases hahaha come here - note: no bathrooms (food truck) read more

No idea how this place has such a good rating. Maybe it's different if you eat inside, but at the truck outside, the cashier was rude, the service was bad, and the steak burrito I got was run of the mill and overpriced. Two stars because it was at least edible. read more

Austin is of course known for their breakfast tacos, but none do it like Granny's from my experience. Don't let the prices of each taco fool you, you will get a lot of bang for your buck here. It doesn't look nor feel like a tourist trap, which I loved about this place even more. Ambiance feels quintessential Austin with the tacos being served from a truck and the venue being a few benches. I loved going here on the weekends, trust me when I say you will too. read more

10/10 came in on a Wednesday for their $3 martinis. food was amazing and samantha and Loriann were so helpful and sweet.

I had a thing for breakfast tacos so I want to try out the same thing at different businesses in Austin. These breakfast tacos are on the larger size compared to Vera Cruz and Pueblo Viejo. They are all the same price $3.50 if you pick 3 ingredients. My bean, egg and cheese taco was a bit too salty side, which didn't do it for me :( The chorizo one was better but overall, I think the depth of flavor wasn't there because there was a lot of oil/salt/seasoning. I'd probably go back to Pueblo Viejo for my go to breakfast tacos but this place is not bad. Went on a weekday at noon so the wait wasnt terrible, may be waited less than 10 minutes for my food. Service was simple, you ordered and there are a few tables to eat right there at the food truck park. read more
