    Bussin' Fries and Bussin' Mac
    YuShan M.

We tried bussin fries and bussin Mac. The tender is crispy and solid 10/10, love that they offer no spice option so my husband can enjoy too. I personally prefer fries and finds their mac pretty basic. I would rec bussin fries but skip the mac. Would come back to try their sandwich next time.

Very tired and a little hungover, I was craving something tasty but definitely not good for me. BussinBuns popped up as something new to try so I decided to give it a go. I got the Bussin fries and here are my thoughts. Crinkly cut fries were pretty good, crispy with good substance. Chicken was crispy on the outside and still juicy inside. My main issue was that the chicken really tasted like it was over-salted. I actually added extra pickles of my own to it to break up some of the salt. Even though, I had a tough time finishing it all just because of the salt content. I must've received a bad batch with a heavy hand. Other than that, the flavor was good, I just wish the chicken wasn't over-salted.

First time here, and my initial impressions were--honestly, not great. The area is a bit of a dump, and the server wasn't particularly engaging. The music was too loud, making it hard to hear when ordering. We got the Bussin' Combo at X-Hot spice level, a mac and cheese for the kiddo, and a drink. There are a few benches to sit at, so we decided to eat there. They text you when the food is ready, which was convenient. While waiting, I noticed it's really popular for pick-up orders--it stayed busy the entire time we were there. The food took a while, but I don't mind waiting for something freshly prepared. When it finally came, we split everything among the three of us. The mac and cheese initially had spicy seasoning, which was too spicy for the kiddo. We asked them to remove the seasoning and they kindly replaced it with one without it, which we really appreciated. The mac and cheese was delicious, and the kiddo loved it. As for the chicken--it was excellent! Fresh halal chicken that was tender and juicy, yet with a crispy outer batter. The seasoning was properly spicy, just how I like it. Honestly, X-Hot was intense, so I wouldn't go higher next time, but I also wouldn't go lower either! It definitely cleared out my sinuses with all the tears and water streaming from my eyes and nose. Despite the initial poor impressions, we really enjoyed our meal and left totally satisfied. I'd definitely come back, but since they've opened a north location closer to us, we'll be supporting them there instead!

Pulled up to the Guadalupe location after a 25 minute drive, and I'd do it again without hesitation. When I say this place is bussin', I mean I'd yeet a toddler through a field goal just to get a second location in South Austin (but that's just me being selfish). We ordered the Bussin Mac and the sandwich, both were absolutely unreal. The flavor, the spice, the portion size? All 10/10. The guys in the back were moving quick, food came out hot, and the value for what you get is wild. Blows Hatti B's straight outta the water. Already planning my next trip back, and I'm not coming alone.

This food truck holds true to its name and is BUSSIN. The chicken is so well spiced and crispy! I've tried the tender plate and the combo plate (sandwich + 1 tender). I think the tenders are better than the sandwich because you can taste the flavor of the meat a lot better! There are a few tables for outdoor seating, but most people take it to go. I usually order online and pick it up and it's ready pretty quickly.

Ordered the hot chicken! The fries are seasoned oh so nice and had the perfect soft but crispy balance. The chicken was fried to perfection. I loved every bite! What a great good truck stop while in Austin. Ate in my car, service was fast, and had zero complaints.

Rubber chicken sandwich. Could not eat.

Rubber chicken today, place used to be good. Got the number 1, both pieces were rubber, threw it away.

So, for a small stand on the side of the road, this place has some fiery in their chicken. Most people think that small stands are 50/50 and never know what you are going to get. We'll have a good gamble on this one. The owner is the guy who takes your order and he has great customer service. It was not spicy enough for me what I ordered, so he threw some more spice and precooked it for me and no charge. I was amazed. They have some picnic tables to just relax and much. Or you can take it with you to go. Over all great experience.

The food here was amazing. I got the bussin Mac and it was one of my favorite things I've had in a while. Every part of the bussin Mac worked so well together to create such a beautiful dish. Mac and cheese, fries, and chicken all together is a dish I had never even thought of before but this idea is ingenious. The wait was pretty long for the food 20min ish, but I think it's highly worth it and I will definitely be coming back.

Service - 3/5 How do you open a restaurant at noon and have no food prep done and it take 25 min for 2 orders. Ambiance 4/5 - a must / need to add umbrellas to the outside tables. Food - 5/5 - very fresh and flavorful! We got the bus bun singles with fries. One was hot and one was mild. Would do mild for both next time. Fries were fresh and had good seasoning. Love the bussin sauce! So the question you are asking is - is it worth the wait? Yes, BUT I would order ahead so I am not waiting there for 25 min.

Food- we got the extra hot and regular hot. I think the hot was better in the sense it had more flavor. The extra hot just tasted like chili seasoning but was still good. Get extra sauce to drown your sandwich in because they don't really put a lot of sauce. Service: super sweet and helpful! Ambiance: not much, it's a good truck! They have some seating but I just ordered it to go :)

Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

I've been for both lunch and dinner, and lunch is clearly the peak time, which makes sense given the sandwich, salad, and soup menu. It feels built for the midday lunch crowd. As of February 2026, it still has that brand new restaurant feel. The interior is bright, clean, and modern, and there's a ton of outdoor seating.
