I was super excited to try this food truck while in town on a business trip! I'm wondering if catching them during the last 25 minutes of service was a flaw on my part - my bun was pretty crumbly, and dry. I'm reading reviews about soft bread; whereas my outer edges are hard like a cruton. Hey, it didn't stop me! The cheese and eggs were great! I personally like a thicker bacon, and this sandwich had TONS of thin crumbly bacon. Next time, I'd like to try the sausage or chicken options! I was also hoping to get one of the coffees I saw online, but I didn't see them on the menu... I guess I chickened out on asking if they could be ordered. Again... for next time. I'm in mueller lake park every morning walking my dog and this Saturday is the first time I dropped by the egg man food truck. I got the bodega classic and the manhattan mocha. The manhattan mocha was delicious and the cashier even offered my pup a pup cup. Great customer service! Now about the sandwich. It's a good breakfast sandwich and I would've loved this 20 years ago. Unfortunately I've stopped eating most processed food in the past 20 years that I can no longer tolerate American cheese. I have the same adverse reaction to McDonalds after not eating it for 20 years. I think if you're eating processed or fast food on a regular basis, this sandwich would be absolutely delicious! I asked for no cheese, medium (spicy & sweet) sauce, and added avocado spread ($2.29). We ate the sandwich right away while it was still warm. I ordered an egg bowl and my table mates ordered the the basic, botego and queens with ratings across the board. The bowl potatoes was quite tasty, however, the eggs were a little runny. The cashier was efficient and helpful to suggest a bowl after I asked for a multi-grain bread. The food truck park was on and popping! I'm going to preface my review and say that I likely hold an unpopular opinion because I can see how many fans Eggman has, but it didn't hit the mark for me. I had really high expectations because a lot of New Yorkers have tried Eggman and claim it's really similar to NY-style breakfast sandwiches, and I don't doubt that! However, I think it missed the mark for me because it was just incredibly heavy and not very well balanced. The closest to a well-balanced sandwich with the available toppings/ingredients they have would be to add jalapenos because a nice kick would cut the heaviness slightly. However, I think they should add a little bit of sweetness with some more jam or maybe some acidity? The first bite was undeniably delicious, but I found that after a few bites, I didn't really want to eat any more of it. I did not think the Medium sauce was spicy at all so will definitely try Hot next time around. I'm so glad I went with his suggestion. Honestly really good.
