authentic and fresh! I was craving Vietnamese food today and found this place nearby on yelp. I started with brisket Bao buns, which were sitting on a perfect smear of hoisin sauce and crisp vegetables. The buns are quite filling so I was pleased to see No Meat Pho on the menu (just broth, noodles and fixings.) the beef broth is so flavorful and was served steaming hot. I did have room for more protein so I ordered a side of chicken, which was excellent and you could taste the charcoal from the grill. Everything was very fresh. The service was very friendly and the ambience was relaxing. Very clean inside as well. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
Been here many times order the same thing it's great. I mean it's great everything must recommend the sandwiches with side soup
I came in on a Sunday night on a whim. Food was very affordable and I liked that they had a lot of side options as someone who doesn't usually finish full servings. Everything came out in a timely manner and service was kind. The restaurant is small and a bit hidden in a shopping center but I really enjoyed it! I can't wait to come back.
Overall: 3.1/5 [Postmates Delivery] Vermicelli Grilled Meats Choices ($15.56): The vermicelli was hard and tasted old, and they didn't even use the correct type of noodle. The meat and nước mắm sauce also lacked flavor. Braised Pork Belly & Egg ($16.84): We opted for no noodles and added steamed veggies instead. The pork belly and broth were pretty good, but the eggs were just okay, and they only included one or two. It came with plenty of braised broth, which I saved to use as a marinade. Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($6.71): Very sweet, with a strong condensed milk flavor. Best to let the ice melt a bit. Side Beef Broth ($4.88): The broth was decent but not the best we've had. However, the packaging was concerning--they poured boiling hot broth into a Styrofoam cup, which doesn't seem safe from a health standpoint.
10 out 10. From the service to the food, I had a phenomenal experience. The inside was pristine, surpassing our expectations considering the surrounding area. We started with the crab rangoons, fried dumplings, and pork egg rolls, all of which met our expectations. For my main, I had the pad thai with chicken. The noodles were perfectly chewy and saucy, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Delicious dish all around. Additionally, I had a fresh limeade to pair with my meal, and fresh it was! None of that concentrated premade lime flavor. It was perfectly sweet & limey, without being bitter. This meal revived me after a night of dancing and drinking. I would absolutely come here again!
First time in at Het Say and I have to say I'll be coming back soon. The Bo Koh was a 10/10 with a secret dipping sauce on the side (salt and pepper sour sauce) FANTASTIC. fantastic friendly service and everyone who sat down after us felt like part of the neighborhood. What a great experience. Do come and bring your friends and family.
We were in the mood for some Pho and decided to try this spot (new to us) on our way home to South Austin from downtown. The space itself was in a strip mall - plenty of tables but no AC so even though it's November we all know it is NOT cool yet here in Austin. So a hot, humid restaurant plus hot Pho was not a great combo. The dishes were priced competitively and the two pho bowls we ordered came out incredibly fast. I had the chicken pho and my hubs had some kind of beef stew. The beef was FAR better than my chicken. The broth had more depth and the beef was tender and flavored nicely. The chicken pho was bland - the chicken itself rather dry despite being in soup, and the added steamed veg were actually just tossed into the soup raw so not actually cooked in anyway. The raw veg mix consisted of a lot of bad base of cabbage so not really edible for the extra $3.75. Overall, it's not a place we'd return to - our local pho spot in Southpark meadows is way better.
We stopped by Het Say Vietnamese Kitchen and tried the pho, pork egg rolls, limeade, and lime soda. The lime soda tasted like a bubbly version of the limeade--refreshing and fun! The pho broth was rich and flavorful--definitely the highlight of the meal. The pork egg rolls, while crispy, were a bit underwhelming in flavor. Overall, a solid spot for pho and drinks, with a few menu items that could use a little extra punch.
Checked out this Vietnamese restaurant near our neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! We shared an order of the Chicken Wings appetizer (4 pieces) and enjoyed the sweet and tangy sauce that was used to sauté the wings, especially the generous amount of cooked white onions that were also covered in the sauce. That being said, I did wish that the wings were made crispier. As for the combination pho bowl I ordered, the broth was light and flavorful, yet not too salty. They gave a generous portion of both the meats and the noodles, and I'd say the ratio between the two was well-balanced. I would definitely come back to this small family-owned business for my next Vietnamese cuisine craving!
I finally tried Het Sey, and while the service was excellent, the food itself fell flat. The pho and spring rolls looked promising, but the flavors just didn't deliver--lacking the depth and richness I expect. Given the prices, I know there's better, more flavorful Vietnamese food to be found in Austin. Decent, but not a place I'd rush back to.
Anyone that's Vietnamese living in Austin knows it's not an easy quest looking for authentic Vietnamese food that reminds you of the comfort of home. After trying a few dishes, Het Say is not the best Vietnamese food I've had, but compared to other Asian restaurants serving Viet food in the area, certainly one of the most authentic. One dish in particular that I've struggled to find in the area, Com Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork with Rice). Most places in Austin serve a healthier version of this dish, but Het Say serves their grilled pork almost close to the way it's meant to be-- charred, bold with lemongrass, and sweet and savory all at the same time. Het Say certainly has potential, but doesn't quite hit the mark yet. It's missing it's zhush to make this restaurant a staple in the community. Food presentation, quality of ingredients, timing of dishes, a revamp of the restaurant interior, are just a few items to start with.
After flying back into town late morning my husband and I headed to our favorite phó spot but they weren't open yet so I searched Yelp and found that HSVK was open nearby. We drove over and got seated right away. We ordered the Brisket Phó, Grilled Pork Banh Mi and Egg Rolls. The egg rolls were small but packed with good flavor which was enhanced by the accompanying fish sauce. Phó was good with plenty of noodles and broth and the brisket was nice and lean. The banh mi was excellent! The bread was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. The pork was tender and tasty. I would have liked more pickled veggies -- I'll remember to request next time. I deducted a star for service, which was fine up to the point our food was served. There were only two other parties dining in and once everyone was served, the staff seemed to be busy behind the counter. No one ever came back by to offer a beverage refill or ask if we needed anything. Once we were done, we had to go to the counter to close out our bill. Otherwise, everything was good and we'd return, especially for that Banh Mi.
i eat at this place somuch, me and my friend(s) love it alotttt the food is great as well as the service the max wait is maybe 4 mins best pho place ever

Came here to fill my Vietnamese food craving. Realized that it is conveniently located the block over from 888. I wondered why it was not as busy here. Upon entry, you must wait to be seated. The place is clean and has both booth and table seating. Someone came right away and sat us know. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the pork belly bao, pho and bun. All were good and the portions were good. Glad I got to try it and get my pho fix. read more
After a long day vending at a market nearby, we were so welcomed at this eatery. No line, quick ordering, and super friendly service (and on a Saturday night)! We started with the salt and pepper tofu! And boy these were so so so delicious, crunchy crispy battered layer with tofu inside. It was heavenly. Just the right amount of pepper. Comes out piping hot, we love that! Got the beef pho with steak, meatball, and tendon (you choose 3 from a list). It was a huge bowl and full of noodles. The broth was delicious and not overly salty. I added chili oil, sriracha sauce, and hoisin, all the sprouts, cilantro, and basil. It was delicious. Hubs got het say special stir fry with tofu and it was a gorgeous medley of vegetables and tofu with rice noodle. So good, also very generous portions. Our bellies were full when we left! This place rocks!!! When we are in town, we gonna come back for sure! read more

Great service despite a third party issue: This was an uber eats order that was placed and then clicking around, boom order cancelled what the heck. Uber was no help to the issue. I went in and pickup up the order even being sick. Thumbs up for service to the restaurant for helping out. The food was amazing. The pho was very very flavorful to eat. I must say that the pho order has a good flavor to the mix. The vermicelli could be better as it was a bit overseased. read more

Had a craving for Vietnamese food and found this place on Yelp, another place we went to had a crazy long line so we were pleased to get a table immediately here. The restaurant was still decently filled which is generally a good sign of good food! Right away, I loved how simple the menu is and the prices were awesome. Generally speaking, Vietnamese food seems to be getting more and more expensive which is further from traditional simple prices that the food typically goes for. I was happy to see prices here are on the lower end which is less common nowadays! THE FOOD: - Pho Dac Biet: super tender meat, hearty broth and big portion that we shared and I got full after just eating half - Thit Ko Trung: very flavorful but disappointingly very minimal meat, there were only 4 pieces in our pot sitting in a bowl of soup essentially and half an egg, was thinking there would be more content:soup/sauce ratio Overall good place! Food took a while to come out but the service was very nice and sweet. read more

Deep in my soul I want this to be at least a four-star review but I have to be honest right? If you can get past the very sketchy neighborhood and limited parking at peak times you've got it licked. Met up with my fellow yelper who I haven't seen in years here because this place was suggested and it was not a bad choice the only thing I would say is do not order the fried crispy noodles. The owner or manager whoever he was did warn me to be fair but a simple fix would be not to add the straight beef powder which made it salty as he says but to make the slur with a little bit more of cornstarch or even water to blend it out a little bit come otherwise you're going to be sitting in the corner for salt syndrome. My friend had the vegetable pho which she said was very flavorful for all the vegetarian dishes that she usually eats and she was content. I also ordered the spicy edamame which was decent, not bad at all. And the only other thing amok is the water! It really tasted a lot like tin water or copper water I could not figure it out so instead ordered a very sugary Sprite to mask any other variable taste. Because are the prices on the menus are on par for the times that we are in the supposedly this inflation recession Ukraine Russia War Chinese covid landing on Pluto whatever hurricane is in town. And a big plus is the owner or manager whoever the gentleman was was very very cordial and accommodating to his customers. Everybody's that came in seem to know him, it's kind of like you walked into a Vietnamese restaurant Cheers bar if I may. read more
I ordered delivery while I had tonsillitis from this place (out of the plethora of pho options) and WOW, just WOW! I got the shrimp pho and the chicken pho and the broth on each was a *chef's kiss.* I cannot wait to return to the actual brick and mortar to dine in! Pho tip: if you do not like onions, let them know because they do not skimp on their white onion (and it is super crunchy) read more

Had a dinner with friends on a Saturday here. I ordered the vermicelli noodles with pork (bun thit nuong), it comes with fresh veg and a sweet fish sauce. The size was substantial and tasted great. We also tried the calamari, which was quite nice. All my friends seem to like their dishes too, service was brief and restaurant was neat, enough space between tables for social distancing. read more
A humble restaurant with friendly service and affordable Vietnamese food. They were quick to seat us and serve us. The menu has a good selection of pho, vermicelli, and other dishes. Those who got pho said it was pretty standard. I got the pad thai, which was quite sweet and had tough noodles. I'd come back for their specialty dishes! Also, there's plenty of parking in front. read more
