The food was very good! Each dish felt light yet complex, which I really enjoyed. The vibe is intimate, and from the outside the restaurant almost looks like someone's home, which adds to the charm. That said, for a $175 meal, I did leave feeling a bit hungry, and I'm not someone who usually eats a lot. The portions are on the smaller side, which I didn't mind, but I think one additional dish, or a more carb-forward course (we didn't have one), would have made the meal feel more satisfying overall. Service-wise, the pacing felt uneven. There were noticeable pauses between dishes. Given the Michelin star, I was expecting better timing. Note: Definitely plan to arrive early for parking. There's no valet, and street parking in this part of Long Beach is very difficult to find.

Heard great things about this place. Got a 5pm reservation. Parking isn't great so would give yourself extra time to park. The menu is seasonal, changing about 5-6 times a year. As for the meal, the first 4 items on the menu were actually the snack/appetizers. Was worried we were going to leave hungry but everything tasted very good or need to get every last drop from the bowl type of good. The deserts didn't disappoint as well. The only down side was the fruit sodas were lacking a bit in flavor. Service was overall attentive but slowed down as the night got busy. Can be very noisy. Would defintitely come back and try some of the other seasonal menus.

After long await, we finally decided to splurge on Heritage. Heritage is a no doubt a highly talented kitchen, but for a Michelin starred restaurant, the experience did not justify the price. The food was generally well executed, though several dishes were overly salty. Portions were extremely small throughout the meal. Many plates were literally the size of a quarter. The main course was especially disappointing, consisting of a single slice of duck breast. Yes, a single slice. Dessert followed the same pattern with a very small chocolate bite and another tiny fruit bite. It did not feel like a proper finale. The lighting was dark and intimate, which I appreciated, but the dining room itself was cramped and loud. Instead of feeling private, it felt like sitting closely packed with other diners. There was no live music, though the playlist was good. Presentation was inconsistent, particularly early in the meal. With portions this small, stronger presentation would have helped elevate the experience. Pacing also declined toward the end of the dinner, with noticeable delays, which disrupted the flow. Overall, while there were aspects to enjoy, the combination of tiny portions, uneven pacing, and crowded atmosphere made the experience not worth the cost.

Came here for my birthday and had a really great time! We opted to sit at the bar and were able to watch the open kitchen work. We even got to speak to some of the chefs working, which added to the experience. Now the food: the menu looked promising but the first few courses were not exciting. Flavors were confusing, some weren't punchy enough, others over seasoned, and yet some just didn't go together. We were getting a bit worried until we arrived at the middle of the menu and the dishes were homeruns! My favorites were the proteins: scallops and duck. Both were expertly cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The desserts weren't mind blowing but tasty and ended the dinner on a good bite. I would definitely return at a different season to try a different menu and see what they have to offer.

July 5, 2025 was our second time at Heritage. We decided to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. Since our first dinner here a year ago was so lovely, we were eager to return! Marissa and the rest of the staff were attentive and friendly throughout the night. We were impressed with each course and kept talking about our favorites long after dinner was over. I really enjoyed the wine pairing in our first dining. They have many NA options too for those avoiding alcohol. Heritage has a cozy, intimate vibe overall and it's no surprise many others were celebrating there too. If you haven't experienced Long Beach's 1st Michelin Starred restaurant, don't wait!

Updating review since my last visit was when Heritage first opened and prior to earning their Michelin star. They have truly elevated and refined their service and execution of dishes. With just four seats at the counter and six tables in the dining room, guests still get the warm home hospitality feel in an intimate setting. Their tastings are now set at $160 per person, which comes with 12 thoughtfully curated bites of umami, textures and variety. The majority of their produce and herbs are grown in the Heritage Farm, just a mile away from the restaurant. Staying true to their zero-waste philosophy, they repurpose any excess ingredients into compost cycling back to the gardens. Sustainable dining at its finest! They respectfully do not allow substitutions, but it is understandable with their mission in mind. Summer 2025 tasting menu: Palo Santo Mint- an herbal shot to open the senses Steamed Baby Corn- loved the shaved truffle on top Box Crab- lovely pastry bite Pickled Plum- palate cleanser Slow-Cooked Farm Beets Celtuce, fennel, house yogurt Live Scallop in Shell Dashi, smoked trout roe Braised Sweetbreads- not really bread but yummy chunks of bacon with spring onion, fava bean and greens Mt. Mille-feuille: Strawberry, rhubarb, pistachio Pâte de Fruit Boysenberry- like gummies :) Wine pairing is an additional $95. We opted to bring a bottle of wine for a $40 cork fee. Valet is $25, but you might be able to find street parking on 7th Street. Incredible experience and so happy to have this gem in Long Beach!

Loved the entire meal and experience! Our server was very knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine pairings. A very comfortable environment with zero pretense. I wasn't sure what to expect since this was my first Michelin Star restaurant visit but it was great! The open kitchen made the bar and front room seating a little warm, kind of like eating in your kitchen with the yummy smells as well. I am a big Food HD watcher and I enjoyed watching the preparation. The menu was superb and the wine pairing was outstanding! Cost was $650 for two of us, one with wine pairing and one without. Honestly, it was well worth it!

My sons treated me to dinner for my birthday in February. The dining room is tiny which makes for an intimate setting. Our server was top notch both with service and explanation of each dish. The food was outstanding! A veritable culinary experience! Each dish was different and yet all were of the same superb quality. The chef put such thought into each tidbit that I felt his passion in each bite. Highly recommend trying this place. You won't be disappointed.

Cozy spot, great staff and friendly service. The spot has a warm home feeling. The food was amazing, the deserts are unforgettable! I couldn't do the win pairing but my party did and it was some of the best California wine they've had. Will bring my parent's next team to enjoy this mouthful of flavors. Got lost in the flavors that I kept eating before remembering to take pictures. Don't worry, I'll go back again to take them.

Impressive meals, terrible parking and broken vent

Finding parking here is a challenge--you'll likely circle the block a few times, as the restaurant sits amid a cluster of busy bars. The valet space is comically small, fitting only four or five cars if they manage to Tetris them perfectly. The neighborhood doesn't help the vibe either: diners pass homeless individuals and shouting pedestrians, and locals mock visitors with remarks like, "Oh, you're here for an overpriced fancy meal?" Not exactly the ideal prelude to dining. Upon arrival, the host barely glanced up from her phone and went in and out with the door open, letting cold wind gush through the dining area. The staff in the open kitchen ignored us entirely--even non-Michelin restaurants usually offer a friendly greeting. The waiter was amiable but inattentive: while they explained what was on the plate, they never guided us on how to eat the dishes or in what order. Essentials like spoons or sugar for tea only arrived after requesting them, and when the waiter spilled honey on their hands, they still served that same honey to us--leaving a distinctly unhygienic impression. The open kitchen seems more theatrical than functional: no flames, most sauces come from flasks, and a broken insect screen--essentially the window view--lets blue smoke from the kitchen drift into and eventually fill the entire dining area, a problem worsened when the restaurant is full. Tables are tiny and cramped, and with only one restroom, moving around is awkward at best. Now, the food. It's a roller coaster of extremes. Prosciutto with cream and bisque was phenomenal, but a half-inch pickled pineapple felt oddly cheap. Sashimi was fishy, while smoke octopus was a triumph: smoky, crispy, tender, and beautifully plated. Then came a perplexing dish of "one and a half scallops"--overly salty, fishy, and poorly balanced with its cream sauce. The duck was perfectly cooked, reliable but uninspiring, while a poached fish was unbearably salty, numbing the palate. Desserts followed the same pattern: a refreshing cucumber-yogurt palate cleanser was followed by a custard that tasted like a store-bought version. In short, the experience swings wildly between impressive and disappointing. The concept feels like Jekyll and Hyde--one moment dazzling, the next bewildering. I don't regret dining here, but I wouldn't rush back anytime soon.

10th course: corn ice cream & heritage caviar

Summary: has potential but not quite Michelin 1-star. I'm rating this restaurant based on food, service, and ambiance. Food overall didn't impress me. There were a few times where the right utensils weren't provided. For example, the pineapple pickle was considered a finger food. The first few courses were extremely disappointing. They were either too strong in a specific flavor (sour, saltiness) or too bland. I only started enjoying the food starting from the kingfish, which is technically the 8th course. Service was a mixed bag. A waitress provided a bag hook and they gave complimentary champagne for our anniversary. However, we didn't have a dedicated server. Depending on who served the dish, we either received a thoughtful explanation of the dish or a plain statement of what's presented. Ambiance was probably the lowest of the 3 pillars. I understand that the restaurant used to be a house so things might look funky and the noise may be amplified. The place was crammed with so many tables and it was a full house. With all the talking that echoes, I couldn't talk and listen without leaning in. There was very little room between each table so i felt like a sardine in a tight can. 5/10 for the experience. Definitely not worth the price tag or the Michelin compared to Melisse and Providenxe when they were 1 star.

This was our second time at Heritage - the first was for our anniversary in the fall, and the second for my birthday in the spring. We made a reservation both times a few hours before we showed up at the restaurant on a weekday. FOOD: Every dish is unique and crafted from sustainable ingredients. It is incredible how every bite you take tastes different based on the array of ingredients you capture on your spoon or fork. Every mushroom dish this restaurant creates is magic - perfectly textured with a rich umami taste. The octopus we had in the spring was also smoky and seasoned beautifully. DRINK: The wine pairings have always been wonderful. All wine is sourced from California as part of Heritage's mission for sustainability. Nearly every dish has a wine paired to it that enhances the dish. SERVICE: Always impeccable. The waiters fold your napkin and leave it on the table if you get up to use the restroom. They wipe away any small amount of food that falls on the table between courses. New utensils are laid out with every course change. The waiters explain the dishes and wine in a detailed and engaging manner. AMBIANCE: Non-pretentious, simple, and intimate. The tables are pretty close to each other, and there are a few seats at the bar to watch the chefs at work. PARKING: There is scant street parking available and valet parking as well. If you're planning on street parking, try to get there a bit early to find parking and walk over to the restaurant. SPECIAL TOUCHES: if you go to Heritage for a special event, they will likely give you a card thanking you to commemorate the event. On our anniversary, they also gave us complimentary champagne.

First off, this was my first experience at a Michelin Star restaurant and I was blown away with the food. Yes, this restaurant is located in essentially the suburbs of Long Beach where parking is scarce and they have valet. But, don't let that fool you because the service and food were top notch and the staff were courteous and engaging. This is a 9+ course meal where everything is made fresh. Each dish hit the palate right on the head and there were so many good flavors. My favorite had to be the scallops. I wanted to have a bowl of that and just ate that thing up. My second favorite was the homemade vanilla ice cream with caviar/olive oil. It was a great pairing and also wished I could've had a pint to take home. In the end, my husband and I had an amazing anniversary here and will definitely recommend this to others.

Any thoughts on sitting at the chefs counter versus in the restaurant proper? Is that really an option? I see it on Open Table for this restaurant.

Every dish we've tried has been full of flavor and genuinely worth ordering. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. The service has always been great, the food comes out quickly, and the portions/prices feel reasonable. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. Parking has been easy for us so far since there's both a parking lot and nearby street parking. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that's officially in our regular rotation.

The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back.
