The service was nonexistent! It was a very unprofessional. We had to ASK for refills and when they brought us drinks, it had no ice. Why would I have to add that I wanted ice in a refill? After a disappointing trip to a park for an afternoon concert, with absolutely no parking anywhere, we took a ride and wound up at the crab shack. We had a beer I hardly ever drink beer, but I need a cheering up. I also had a huge mud pie dessert. It was absolutely totally delicious. The portion was huge and every bite made you want to eat faster so you can get the next one the cookie crust was very firm and the ice cream was piled up very high. The restaurant is cute and casual. It does overlook the water, but we went at night so we didn't really enjoy the view. Looking forward to coming back during the day because I love an Ocean view. Located in long beach, you can find the crab shack. It's one of those spot where you should be willing to get your hands dirty to eat good but they do bring you plastic gloves to wear if you're not willing and they also provide you with a bib and wet napkins to clean up at the end. Location: Corner restaurant off busy streets with lots of street parking around, I don't believe I saw a private lot for parking but everything in that area is walkable. Ambiance: Restaurant is pretty big with Indoor/outdoor dining. It's not anything new or fancy but definitely clean and fits the food options. Food: Delicious! I was never a big fan of but this place was full of flavors and the selection of food was great. You order by the pound and you can mix seasonings per order and add tons of sides as well. They offer things like fish, crabs, potatoes, corn, and more. Everything came out hot and ready to eat within minutes. Service: Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was Immediately greeted as I walked in, and sat down right away. My visit was during the week so it wasn't busy at all, I'm not sure how weekends look like. Staff checked on us enough times to make sure we had everything but not too many were it was annoying lol Definitely a good a spot to come have a meal with friends or family and have fun eating and making a bit of a mess. We got some of the "favorites," fish & chips and the garlic noodles. Very mediocre. The fish & chips seemed like it was cooked in very old and spent oil and the garlic noodles just had a weird flavor that was not garlicky at all but sort of sweet. Asked to add crab to the noodles for $5 and it added nothing, the addition was what seemed to be some shredded crab flakes. Server must have been new too because despite pointing at items on the beer menu and repeating it several times, they seemed completely incapable of either understanding the words that came out of our mouths or looking at the gigantic printed words we were pointing at. Pretty disappointing overall. This place was kinda a disappointment. Two of my friends and I had plans to meet here to chow down on some good shrimp and hang out. We came around 5pm on a Friday for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. Just a few groups. We started with some fried oysters which turned out the be the best thing there. But for $17 for a small basket I thought that was a little pricey. We ended up getting a pound of shrimp each. It was market priced at $18/pound of shrimp. I got the one with head on but you can order it peeled with head off for an additional $5. A pound with head on is about 20 shrimps. Head off is about 30 shrimps but they looked smaller to me. I got the Crab Shack Style sauce which is a mix of all the sauces. We all agreed that their sauce is very bland and watery. It needed more flavor and lacked garlic. We tried putting more sauce and lemon but not very satisfying. The shrimp itself did taste fresh though. Their sausage was good and the corn was okay. We all paid separately and my total for the oysters, a pound of shrimp, 1 corn, and 6 piece sausage was a little over $53 (with tip). Service was okay. Would we be back? Probably not since there are just other places similar that are better. However, if you're looking for a place to drink and hangout then maybe this is for you. The inside of this place is similar to any other seafood boil place. There is a cool outside patio area. The parking situation can be a little tough since there is only street parking and most is 2 hour parking only. The area is busy so kinda hard looking for a spot. read more

We were in town the night before leaving for a cruise out of Long Beach and The Crab Shack was recommended by our Uber driver. It was only about a block away from our hotel, so it worked out perfectly. This is one of the best seafood boils I've ever had. The Cajun seasoning was bursting with flavor and they were not stingy with the sauce. Somehow we were lucky enough to get a table without any wait and our server was so attentive. The outdoor seating by the fire was so cute, but it was a bit cold so we decided to sit inside. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Long Beach. I know everything on the menu is going to be good, so I try to order something different every time. They have really taken the time to perfect their appetizers and sides so it's very acceptable to not even come here for a boil bag. They have taken the flavors we would expect out of a seafood shop and executed them so well. Boil bags always come piping hot with a lot of sauce and perfectly cooked seafood. Gumbo was thick with a good ratio of protein to okra. Fried baskets are always crispy, light and well seasoned. Garlic noodles have become a staple, its coated in ribbons of basil, so its not just the basic garlic noodles most restaurants have. On this day (my bday) I decided to try the Catfish Po' Boy and as you can see, they did not skimp on the Catfish! Food was fresh to order; the catfish had a light, flaky crust. The spicy mayo that came with it gave it a little kick! I always ask for Tabasco to give it even more of a kick! I ordered the Cajun fries for my side and they were also delicious. My teenagers ate here three nights in a row which tells us how much they loved the food. I think they told me burgers, po boy, calamari and chicken tenders are all good. I was a bit skeptical about this place because of some of the reviews.. but I had a great experience. The shrimp was so good. My boyfriend got his shrimp spicy and said it was full of flavor. Mine was the perfect amount of butter and garlic. The fries were perfectly cooked cause they weren't to crispy or soggy. The reason for the four stars is because they had really great music playing but the Bluetooth connection kept cutting out. The Crab Shack is one of the best seafood boils that I've had (I've only tried 3 places, so this might not have too much weight to it), with its perfectly cooked shrimp and crab as well as the flavor-bomb that is their sauce. I'm in love with how garlicky the sauce is... it's just unbeatable. Their cajun fries were the perfect texture and flavor, and I also loved their margaritas. Our server was the GOAT and gave us the extra magarita that couldn't fit into the cup into a different small plastic cup. This isn't the cheapest or most bang for your buck seafood boil place I've been to, but it is certainly the tastiest!
